I live in a fog belt, though not as intense as parts of the Bay Area. I have trouble growing tomatoes. Read Growing Tomatoes in Fog Belt and Rethinking Tomatoes in the Fog Belt and Dwarf Tomatoes: Rethinking Tomatoes in the Fog Belt (Again).

I collect a substantial amount of water on foggy days or when the dew is heavy. Water condenses on the metal roof of our garage and runs down to my rain collection trash cans adjacent to my vegetable beds. Lids turned upside down capture the water. I need to do some measurements on the next really foggy day.

Lavender Strawberries

These deliciously fragrant Lavender Strawberries, which also double as an excellent digestif, are a celebration of my Summer garden, and feels like a gift, thanking me for all the hard --albeit always uplifting-- work and joyous pottering! Happy Monday!

Ingredients (serves 1):

4 ripe Garden Strawberries (mine are delightfully sweet and juicy 'Elvira' strawberries)

a teaspoon Lavender Sugar

a tablespoon Lavender Liqueur 

Rinse Strawberries and pat them dry. Halve them, and place Strawberry halves in serving cup.

Sprinkle with Lavender Sugar, and drizzle generously with Lavender Liqueur.

Enjoy Lavender Strawberries immediately; in the sunshine, if you can.

An early warm spell followed by frost first in the Okanagan and now in my neck of the woods is a good indicator that it'll be a bad year for tree fruit. Fortunately my trees weren't fooled and stayed dormant so I think we'll still get a little something, but I'm focusing on growing blueberries and strawberries and ground-cherries this year.

My blueberry bushes are established, the ground cherries are exotic enough that the wildlife doesn't pay much attention to them but the strawberries! The slugs usually get the largest share of my strawberries.

But this year I have a plan. I went to the thrift store and bought some crappy old natural cane baskets (laundry hamper style) for ten bucks and planted all my extra strawberries into those. This will keep them warm and dry on the surface, reducing mold, and hopefully away from the depredations of the slugs...

Overprotective Father

Of all the things that Danny imagined when he decided to release Dan from his prison, he never thought that he would become his father. And while it was a little weird, he could see the point in it. Dan wasn't his future self, he was a combination between him and Vlad (something he really hated to think about), meaning, technically his son.

Dan also seemed uncomfortable with the new arrangement but he seemed much happier, and since being given access to the castle garden he was actually quite calm. Probably because of his unlimited access to ghost fruits. Who knew that all it took to stop his attempts of world conquest was a couple of ghost strawberries?

The father/son thing continued to be awkward, but they actually grew to like it (as much as Dan denied it). And that was okay, until Dan started... dating people.

And that was fine, really, Dan could date whoever he wanted (although he was too young in the halfa's opinion) but his choices weren't ideal: King Shark, Metron, Constantine, Darkseid, Bane, Morpheus, Brainiac, Deadshot, and more were added to the list. Even as the Ghost King Danny had a headache just thinking about it.

Danny didn't know what the hell Dan was seeing in them, but he decided it was time to interfere. Unfortunately for the Justice League, Danny decided to act like a father just as Dan started dating one of their members. So now an overprotective Ghost King was giving the entire meeting a shovel talk. Ellie was laughing in the background as Dan covered his face, his father was fucking embarrassing.
