on a more serious note i know ad astra as a whole isnt over but i still want to thank daybreaker for their fics. what friends are for was the very first md fic i ever stumbled upon when trying out ao3 for the first time, and prior to joining the server i was checking it near daily for uploads. god knows if i'd be as deep in ao3 as i am now if it werent for this story and convenient timing. Thanks for the story.

actually no i need to talk about the green witch arc. ciel and his band of merry fools go to germany and learn that this forest is haunted by WEREWOLVES and in it is a village full of WITCHES with cursed amulets and potions and whatever

and the immediate vibe is "lol what a bunch of bogus" which is really just batshit coming from the kid with a demon butler

and then woah big reveal! it wasn't werewolves or witches it was a covert military operation REPLETE with radar tracking (not a thing until wwii) and electronic displays (most likely crt screens, which again weren't fully developed until the 1930s) and TANKS. for reference the first "tank" was put together by a guy in 1899 who mounted a machine gun to THIS

absolute paragon of engineering. the panzer (the exact model of tank in the arc) was not a thing until wwi.

and. and ciel and ESPECIALLY the Demon Butler in question are like. ohhhh yeah that makes more sense. the amulets were just transmitting our exact locations through technology that won't exist for another three decades. whew glad we sorted that one out. man wouldn't it have been CRAZY if it really was werewolves.

#the phrasing of that having Bruce’s mind in the Hulk’s body is somehow letting both of them live #and that not wanting to live in a world without the Hulk/lose his identity as the Hulk’s friend #so himself becoming ‘a Hulk’ was an acceptable compromise #it’s not as though I was expecting Rick to be bothered by what’s happened to Bruce- he suggested exactly this as a possible option himself #but he demonstrated that his concern for the Hulk was not entirely legitimate back in issue 268 #when he thought about how curing Bruce was unfair to the Hulk #but then encouraged Bruce to take a cure because ‘what’s the world… ever done for you’#but the simplistic framing in these panels here is furthering all that #also it was never fully addressed how Rick ended issue 267 with encouraging the Hulk to rampage #‘You gonna let ‘em do it anymore Greenskin?’#referring to humans hating and hounding and hunting the Hulk #I hope Rick’s identity issues and it seems issues with society are explored more in this storyline #marvel #rick jones #bruce banner #my posts #comic panels

orville with gloria falbury his eventual ultimate romantique partner, margaret wingate (his mom), phil filmore (his friend????), all in their final outfits of the show probably. (except phil? see: his different outfit four pics down while the wingates are still in these outfits) (also noticing the Curtain & Footlights backdrop that suggests they're Onstage during or close enough to the show within the show, whichever side of the curtain they're on)

in the barn raising a glass with phil, joe, and the falburys (gloria, jane, pop) we love to see it waughh!! that's right everyone be friends and get in on this

in presumably the wingate house set panel, maybe proposing to jane but also tossing something over his shoulder for veanne cox as margaret wingate to catch, can't go wrong if you almost catch it or definitely nab it but it has to be dramatic & close enough for the comedy so shoutout to that lol. also he and jane are already engaged at the start of the film but that could be changed, not like they don't have a "but what about actually setting a date finally" point that could just become "what if we become officially engaged" that makes as much sense. or maybe that's not what's happening!

some wingatery to everyone's bemusement, including the suspected plot point of "fancy would-be lead actor of the show within the show, montgomery, are you romancing margaret wingate" and orville with some rolled up piece of paper and margaret's expressive shift in the last moment lol. another "many things could be happening here" deal, including that maybe here the lead actor drops out b/c he's busy marrying orville's mom or something (which would also mean gloria doesn't have to leave for any portion of act two / i'm sure she also gets a different, & more of, an arc, and that really everyone does)
