Came across this call for submissions and wanted to share it with yall! I am in no way affiliated with the magazine, just want to share for anyone who might be interested.

Sinister Wisdom 📣Call for Submissions📣 Gender Diverse Lesbians! This issue seeks to honor and affirm Lesbians outside the sex/gender binary and to include nonconcrete gender identities found in all cultural specifics. We are seeking essays, short fiction, poetry, oral histories, and visual art to be submitted in one document of up to 10 pages, including a brief biography with any social media. The new deadline is August 31st — if you already submitted the first time submissions were opened, your submissions are still being considered and there is no need to resubmit! i can hardly believe the bait and switch that elrond and the rings of power pulled on us this season. in the beginning, he is far too busy self-righteously blaming poor galadriel for falling for sauron's tricks. but then he puts on armour, lets his wild curls free, and transforms into a warrior-librarian covered in mud and blood, punching orcs in the face, and setting other orcs on fire. and i loved it.

just finished up Ursula K Le Guin’s The Dispossessed. the way she describes the Annaresti is so intriguingly just-slightly-alien and my imagination conjured this slightly muppet- esque image of Shevek early in reading that it refused to let go of.

I’ve read a few books recently that have me compelled to illustrate them a bit- I just finished TP’s The Monstrous Regiment and am of course dying to draw them, and on the Le Guin subject I want to pick back up my sketches from when I read TLHOD back in 2021

even in settings where alphas are dominant, it could be well known that there are certain scenarios where omegas are not to be crossed. not if you value your peace of mind. or various pieces of your body.

put a hand on a nursing omega's pup without knowing it's fine? "there are no alphas around, its fine." lol. lmao even. as if the alpha can save you from an omega that's protecting their pup. you should know better, idiot.

"how dare that omega not cater to my request specifically! i'm the most important person in the room!" do you want rumors spread about you? are you doing a "never get a date again" speedrun? cause that's where you're headed.

just...omegaverse settings where you ignore the power of omegas at your own peril. including settings where "you fight like an omega" says something about focus or determination.

(used omegas for the example here, but I'm very in support of this applying to betas as well! regardless to if you give your betas unique traits or not, they're still people. still members of a species whose greatest abilities include creativity, endurance, and social bonds.

a single asshole alpha can and should have their life ruined by a group of driven betas with the desire to do so. the less likely it looks, the more interesting it gets!)

I have life advice to offer to people who wonder if their feelings for someone are platonic or romantic, ie. if they're heving a crush or is it just friendship. first off, throw away all those set categories of platonic and romantic relationships and other objective indicators of what any relationship should be, look, or feel like. ask yourself what you want to do with your feelings, and to be more precise, what do you want to do with this person? nothing has to (or should) go beyond what you want to do.

if you're into this person, as in you like-like them, you will know. it's the oh. moment from the fanfictions! it won't necessarily hit you like a brick, but the gist of this is that you will consciously know your intentions with someone. even if it's not entirely clear right away (and it might never be), keep doing what you're willing to do, whatever it is. only you can give your feelings or relationship a name, and sometimes they don't need any. trust yourself to know your feelings.
