The funniest thing about House MD to me is that all the shippers are right. House and Wilson really are just Like That. I'm so used to big ships being completely noncanon or distant subtext at best. Not Hilson. They have a fake dating episode. In the episode where House mocks a gay man for being in denial, the multi-episode-long subplot is about him trying to break up Wilson's relationship because he's jealous and wants him to himself. Wilson, his best friend and person whom he lives with. This show is insane.

So one thing I’ve noticed is that people’s DnD characters may vary but there is usually an underlying thread that they all have in common. This thread is typically related to what that person struggles with the most.

For instance, my betrotheds DnD characters: a bitchy warlock we had to bust out of two different pacts, a sassy barbarian, a reformed drow cultist, and a sunshine fighter cleric.

All these characters were wildly different but at their very core struggle was them grappling with their self worth. My betrothed struggles with their worth a great deal and even with different facets showing their characters all have that too.

Mine all tend to contend with different themes of loneliness and acceptance. Surprise, surprise, the little autistic gremlin yearns to have been met with more love and lasting friendships.

So we’re at breakfast. I am meeting a new friend of my betrotheds for the first time. It’s been twenty minutes since I’ve met this man. I say my theory. He laughs. He starts to describe a few of his characters but specifies that he often has healing aspects. He gives a very broad overview of their character arcs.

I ponder for a moment then said, “Would you like to have my assessment?”

He laughed, “Sure!”

“We’ve just met. It’s gonna get real.”

“Bring it on.”

“I think your struggle is that you feel you must offer something of value or service to people to be worthy of their love.”

His jaw dropped. His fork froze midway to his mouth. A potato fell. He stared into space as this sank in. Quietly he said, “Oh.”

I think it would be funny - in a post-BT breakup, Buck still oblivious to his feelings about Eddie world - if there was an episode where Buck tries to manifest his perfect partner into existence, and every reference to this practice is immediately followed by Eddie just showing up.

For example:

"I'm waiting for the universe to send me a sign."

"A sign about what?"

"About my perfect match. If I manifest hard enough, maybe the universe will point me to where I need to go?"

"Buck, the universe doesn't just... hand out relationships or - or signs to people who want it bad enough!"

Cut to Eddie walking up the steps of the loft holding a package.

"The new signs you ordered for the loading bay just arrived Bobby."

"Perfect. Let's see what they look like."

Buck is still talking with Hen and Chimney while this is happening behind him.

"I know it won't be, like, the universe will point an arrow at someone going 'This Is the Love Of Your Life' but maybe I'll feel a certain energy in the air... or a spark?"

Eddie takes a sign from out the box.

"What do you think?"

"I think you're holding it wrong. The arrow should be pointed down, not up."

Eddie looks and sees the arrow pointing at him. "Yeah, don't need anyone thinking they can just park on my face."

Anyway the episode kinda plays like that for 44 minutes.

Steve who thinks Eddie and Jeff are a thing (they’re not). and tries to get them “back together” when he notices they don’t hang out as much anymore (Jeff has been ditching eddie bc if he has to hear about steve fucking harrington one more time-)

OR

Steve thinks Eddie’s got a crush on JEFF and tries to help him with it. in reality, it’s Steve he’s got a crush on.

starts out small, nudging him closer to the other man, fixing Eddie’s hair for him when Jeff comes to pick him up one time. stuff like that.

“have you even TRIED making a move on him??”

“WHAT? NO! no. steve you’re reading this all wrong-”

“like hell i am. you just need to go for it man. just get up in his space all flirty and see his reaction. if he’s beet red, kiss him. it works like a charm.”

Eddie’s staring at him, mouth agape, just dumbfounded. this can’t be happening. Steve Harrington giving him pointers for a non-existent crush on his best friend. this has to be a dream.

“here- lemme show you-“

or a nightmare.

because now, Steve Harrington is getting up in HIS space, lax and suave, chest almost brushing his own.

“get up real close-“ Eddie TRIES to keep breathing at a normal rate, hopes Steve can’t tell, “-say something about… his eyes-“

oh god, it feels like Steve’s staring into his soul, consuming him whole with the strong gaze alone.

“tell him he’s got the prettiest eyes- that they sparkle. with how big they are, doe like and sweet.”

Eddie can’t help it. it feels like Steve’s talking about *him,* not Jeff.

“And when he turns pink- like that,” Steve whispers, smiling wide at the warm that gathers high on Eddie’s cheeks. “start to lean it,” a big hand comes up to cup the side of his face, and the next thing he knows is that’s Steve Harrington is leaving in.

Steve drags his nose along Eddie’s. both of them closing their eyes as Steve crosses the small gap between them, pressing their lips together.

Eddie must be dreaming.

he must be.

because Steve Harrington pulls back, whispers “just like that,” and doesn’t pull away. he considers him.

and suddenly, Eddie’s being kissed again.
