sorry to be a bit of a hater but i do wish youtubers weren't so scared of making their videos just like, "reviews", whys everything gotta be a "video essay" all the time. every day my recommendations are filled with 40 minute videos titled "_____: An Underrated Masterpiece" where the first like five minutes are reading the wikipedia definition of "masterpiece" in a somber voice with dramatic themed text on screen. please just tell me how good or bad you think something is and use the rest of the runtime to explain why. you dont need to put on all these airs

These three are the prototype for villains that stick together because they weren't accepted/were down on their luck. The League didn't even start to fill this ragtag found family/tightknit friendship role until after Magne's death. It's clear in how transactional they were early on by how little it mattered when Mustard, Moonfish, and Muscular were arrested.

And Amajiki is the prototype hero to begin understanding the villains' origins. Like the later heroes in this position, Amajiki started by doubling down on his role as a hero. As his mentor Fatgum taught him, a pro hero wins by making villains lose the will to continue fighting, so he begins with declaring that none of them have any future.

im still trying to beat dd1 even though i spoiled the ending for myself cause im bad at it/wont get the same excitement and sense of joy from the ending like everyone else/watched multiple people start the game after me and finish it before me

Watching Wayward Pines for potential ST5 inspo bc the Duffers wrote a couple episodes in s1, and when I got to their second (last) episode and their name crossed the screen, I noticed a visual parallel that might already exist on the show…

Recognize it??

It instantly reminded me of that last shot for the opening of s3, with the landscape peaking out behind the Russian base. But when I went back and actually compared the two, holy shit it’s near identical, and not just the landscape.

I didn’t even remember the helicopter being there on the left, not to mention the pillar-esaue contraption at the center. Like… they’re the same picture.!

With them being credited right at that moment, it’s obvious this was an intentional nod to their previous work.

I just thought it was cool so I wanted to share, but in terms of my watch overall, there is a LOT going on that they could pull from. I’m only halfway through s1, though I’ve heard the show goes downhill in s2 so we’ll see how that goes 😂

Poor girl, she has so much to forget that it is no wonder that sleep, if it brings oblivion to her, does her good.

Oblivion being brought to her sounds deeply ominous right now, especially given the context of Mina being so tired and subdued lately. But on the other hand, noon is the other time when Dracula can change shape or be more active, and if she is not in a state of oblivion I have to wonder what kind of experience her mental link is giving her. It may of course only seem a dream...

I think out of all the Straw Hats, and especially Luffy, Usopp has probably had the truest coming-of-age story. He started off as a dreamer, then one day decided to take action and sail out to sea. There were times when he hit rock bottom, but he managed to overcome those challenges. Now, he's still learning how to face day-to-day challenges, but he does it in his own imperfect way.

What people admire Luffy for, they often criticize Usopp for unfavorably. However, I believe Usopp will ultimately receive something beautiful that comes with hindsight:

appreciation and recognition for his character growth.

His legacy will be a genuine one.
