since it’s a scary time to be trans: refuge restrooms is an app which maps gender-neutral/single-stall restrooms. it’s community-mapped, so it’s possible you might be the first person to log the restroom locations, but hopefully it’ll help some people.
please reblog this post if you’ve got trans followers. stay safe.

in case you needed to hear it today:
it’s okay to use your turn signal when you’re changing lanes
it’s okay to use your turn signal when you’re taking an exit
it’s okay to use your turn signal when you plan on turning (can even be done sooner than 2 seconds before you’re about to turn)
you have a turn signal. in your vehicle. two of them in fact.
you are so brave and beautiful and smart and can do it. using your turn signal

What if…In another life … we are Lupita Nyong’o and her cat
A Quiet Place is not my favorite horror franchise but Day One has captured me immediately by introducing a character I desperately need to survive - the main character’s service cat who is named Frodo
#this is fanservice to me specific#somewhere out there John krasinski is looking at my search history and desperately trying to get me to like a quiet place#this has given me is much there’s a scene where she kisses her cat and the subtitle says [sam kisses frodo]#also like the plot is good. it’s a whole movie abt this girl trying to get a slice of pizza in the apocalypse. easily best quiet place film

My ultimate take is that within Squid Game, the games themselves function as a micro-dystopia (everything the players do and wear and eat and at what times is completely controlled in a totalitarian way), but the show’s thesis is what Mi-Nyeo says when she votes to continue the games in season 1:
Though the players have the illusion of freedom (participating in the games of their own volition), they don’t have freedom at all. because the micro-dystopia of the games extends to the true dystopia of the world they (and we) live in. In both societies, disadvantaged people have to work themselves to death just to survive and support themselves and their families. It’s just as bad out there.
I was reading an article about how Squid Game is not a dystopia and shouldn’t be called such because it’s set in modern South Korea and doesn’t necessarily contain any technology or sci fi elements that aren’t feasible today. However I think “Squid Game shouldn’t be called a dystopia because it discusses and portrays real issues that happen to real people which we shouldn’t distance ourselves from” and “Squid Game is a dystopia because modern capitalist society already has all the elements of a dystopia” are not mutually exclusive lines of thought.

#veesaysthings#squid game#I have many thoughts about the genre of squid game#ik dystopia usually refers to a fictional setting which is the main problem#I just truly want to academically dissect this show but when I look it up everything is like ‘which type of squid game player are you? 😝🤭’#we’re not making it out of the dystopia with this one
