Everyone in the notes of that post like "Just block him and move on" like yeah you're right. However the block function on tumblr simply does not work and I am still subjected to the posts of someone I blocked a year ago on a near-daily basis

fairly out of it right now but. To me at least. how pretentious / or not something is hinges entirely on how pretentious you let it be by refusing to suspend your disbelief/ Or I guess more precisely like. your willingness to play a game with the author. With the act of watching a movie / reading a book / whatever. I think the one telling you the story asking you to bear with them a little is part of the agreement you're supposed to be in as the audience. The sincerity with which it's presented is just the author setting the line for where you're going to have to meet them/ and for your part you kindof have to be willing to adjust your willingness to engage with it from story to story. or you'll just end up missing out on a lot of good movies by refusing to play toys</3 because as it turns out a lot of stories are a little pretentious. and they can still be fun
