I wonder what would they do with the star trek franchise after the war? Like would they end the show? Would they continue as it is and get backlash for not including real aliens? Or would they try to retroactively incorporate andalites etc in the lore of the show? And most importantly, would they let Marco pitch his star trek ideas??

Also I just started watching ds9 last month (it's the first star trek I'm watching, it's great) and like it was airing during the war and it has A) an antagonistic/villian group of shapeshifters who infiltrate positions of power and B) a protagonist with a worm symbiot. And I can't stop wondering what the reaction to that would be after the war is in the open, would people think yeerks were involved in the production of the show?

No, I completely agree that sci fi is going to get awkward in the years after Animorphs ends. I haven't seen Star Trek, but that's why I have a through line in my fics about everyone suddenly not knowing what to make of X-Files, and the implication that the show itself is getting weird. It's partially because I have Thoughts about X-Files's wasted potential; it's mostly because I think postwar sci fi will be forced to grapple with all kinds of funny aneurysm energy (where events that occur after a work of fiction make that work deeply disturbing in hindsight).

Star Trek and other sci fi are going to have an upheaval after the yeerk invasion comes out. Kind of like the tectonic impact of the 9/11 murders on Hollywood, or the world's current ambivalence about COVID in fiction. I imagine there will be a lot of strictly metaphorical treatments of events (e.g. Inside and COVID, War of the Worlds and the NYC attacks). A lot of attempts to force the mold of a simple good vs. evil story (e.g. Glass Onion and COVID, Batman vs. Superman and the NYC attacks). Probably not a whole lot of nuance, at least not from Hollywood and not in those first years.

he walks into the store and immediately is overwhelmed, oh boy what aisle does he even start with. maybe he should have brought mina with him. or just not even come here okay maybe time to leave-

omg heyy meet-cute time! here's an employee who can tell that katsuki is very much out of his depth and is ready to help him. ooh turns out this lowes depot worker is Very Attractive and Smart and like Really Buff. what's that? his name tag says izuku? who could have seen that coming

anyways. he's super nice and is rlly efficient with helping katsuki find the part he needs. and he helps him check out and is like "have a nice day :-) !" and katsuki is like ok i need to see this man again. like, 30 more times again

so he goes back home and starts looking around for random Totally Necessary home improvement projects that require random parts. and this is a definitely valid excuse to go back to that lowes depot worker and ""flirt"" like a total idiot. yes, great idea katsuki

izuku's coworkers have totally clocked what's going on, btw. every time katsuki walks into the store, ochako radios izuku (for all the employees to hear btw) that his man is here. izuku definitely gets embarrassed but ofc he still scrambles to go to katsuki like heyy do u need help again! because i am here! to help u!

The Lingsha character trailer is so much funnier when you know the voicelines of the characters in line (Jingliu, Luocha, Blade, etc).

She emphasizes that matters of the heart (like Huohuo's fear) need to be treated with "medicines of the heart".

We know that Mara-struck, like Jingliu and Blade, struggle with emotions because strong emotions trigger the Mara (hence the attachment to memories with strong emotions an the treatment of Blade's mara by supressing/wiping those memories).

Luocha is also considered an Abomination of the Abundance in some capacity (cough possibly an Emanator cough) and has a demeanor that's typically calm and collected, a human capybara if you will. Jingliu says he's "got a hole in his heart that he exhausts himself trying to fill" so this could also lend to this idea that he too cannot have extreme emotions for some reason.

Anyways the point of all this analysis that the three of them are literally going to therapy about it. Lingsha is gonna be rich and overworked with how many characters desperately need that. Good luck, queen.
