Sorry if this sounds rude but please I need a Sam redesign so badly
Uhhhh as for a prompt… ehhh maybe give him 2000’s older brother core vibes? Give him a graphic sweater, baggy jeans, the works. A new palette would be nice.
Sure. I guess I can quickly doodle something along these lines.
One of the pros about being a sentient human being in the mid-to-late 2000s is that I got to experience older brother core in its prime. In all its edgy, axe body spray scented glory.
Here we have the classic late 2000s - early 2010s gamer; note the layered shirts, oversized jeans and general muted colour palette. Vital parts of the "grungy teenage boy" look, alongside the scruffy beginnings of facial hair and defensiveness over their totally obscure music tastes. You have to be pretty in the know to listen to S3rl and Skrillex.
This version of Sam uploads COD montages edited to heavy dubstep to his YouTube channel. He has 156 subscribers, so he's basically a celebrity already.
I gave him a baseball cap instead of a beanie because I know the stereotype is usually a beanie and I didn't want to be too predictable.
#He's wearing a Halo shirt if you can't tell. ft. A super sketchy looking Doomguy.#I tried not to change Sam's actual appearance at all. If anything I just gave him a new outfit.#Smashed this out in a solid 10 minutes.#total drama#td sam#ophe doodles#replies

what if td is rebooted by netflix except its like a fresh start w a new design thats more like 6teen or stoked and we start making memes like “when did THIS (new design) become hotter than THIS (duncan)” and we still hate it
#TD AU where it's just the equivalent of a gritty Riverdale-esque teen drama.#Like TD high but with infinitely less charm and more vignette.#total drama#shitposting#reblogged

Psych student Heather real
#Really interesting to have Heather of all characters talk about Marlow's study since she's //#// one of the few characters we can confidently say definitely has mommy issues.#I'd bet money on Heather's mother being the embodiment of a wire mother. Heather has huge avoidant attachment energy.#Also just. Psych student Heather is very real. She'd take psychology classes to learn how to manipulate people better.#total drama#td heather#td harold#reblogged

Would be funny when/if we get S3 of the reboot, one of the contestants transitionned off screen and it's never elaborated on
Like their design hasn't changed or it barely has but everyone uses different pronouns for them and shit. Like yeah Emma's a guy now. We only use she/her for Damien. MK's never refered to as a girl again and we dont use any gendered terms for Zee the entire season. No we're not gonna talk about it.
#They slap a realistic png of a pink bow on Ripper's head and use she/her exclusively for the whole season.#It's never addressed.#total drama#td2023#others' ideas#reblogged

So the general gist of this idea was just having Heather and Gwen plan out their rivalry in the first episode off-camera. Or, well, not exactly off camera but during the downtime between their introductions and the first challenge, when footage wasn't likely to be used in the in-universe show (since it's established in canon that the island is littered with cameras at every angle, so being off-camera is impossible). Because they pin each other down as Threats at first glance.
Granted, the two of them would be a little more conscientious of the fact that they're commodifying themselves for the sake of reality TV in this scenario, so the plan would be for Heather to lean into her pre-determined role of main antagonist - you can't convince me that Heather's blatant antagonism and plot armour wasn't a result of her being scripted to be a source of conflict in-universe - by harassing the "protagonist"; Gwen's a broody alternative girl in the 2000s, where influences like Teen Titan's Raven and Clone High's Joan and Daria's… Daria have rewritten the pop culture zeitgeist into adoring Gwen's exact genre of person. Of course she's going to be a major draw of the show and pseudo-protagonist, and of course both she and Heather are going to capitalise on that.
And the two of them get to know their genuine selves as they spend time together finalising their ruse, both in the context of actively annoying the shit out of each other on camera, and their late night outlining sessions for the next challenge's "script" in their shared cabin. Which is a loose plan for how they're going to act and keep their… I don't want to use the term "alliance" here, but it's the most apt description I can think of. It's a meta-alliance in the context of them playing above the game of Total Drama The Competition and into the metagame of Total Drama The Show, if that makes any sense.
It's like that one TikTok about being in cahoots with someone; Heather initially just clocks Gwen as a means to an end, a particularly useful pawn in the game of Total Drama Chess. In turn, Gwen recognises that associating herself with Heather, especially as a vocal force against her, would keep her relevant to the show. A secret deal to start a performative rivalry with each other is just a smart play.
Their deal is transactional, since they intend to use each other to guarantee longevity into the late stages of the competition. Until the feelings start to hit, and their business practice evolves into the two of them harbouring sappy crushes on each other whilst hopelessly maintaining their performative rivalry and metagame act. And, of course, believing that the other still sees their plan as purely tactical and removed from anything resembling emotion; consequently believing that their feelings would be at best dismissed and at worst rebuffed and mocked.
Maybe add into this Gwen's budding relationship with Trent, and her conflicting feelings for a Genuinely Nice Guy duking it out with her infatuation with The Meanest Most Ruthless Person She's Ever Met (/aff), and Heather's own jealousy towards Trent's monopoly on Gwen's time manifesting itself into her sabotaging their relationship.
You could make it a doomed relationship via Gwen realising she values her own morals and the genuity of the people around her over winning the competition, and exposing her and Heather's deal under duress from a guilty conscience. Leading to their pretend animosity becoming real mutual dislike - Gwen because she let herself Be A Bad Person under Heather's influence, and Heather because Gwen threw her under the bus for social brownie points.
Or they could both carry on their public rivalry through canon whilst being secret behind-the-scenes girlfriends who have a healthy relationship full of good communication and trust when they aren't pretending to hate each other to the public eye. Where said rivalry keeps them socially relevant outside of Total Drama, thus achieving their shared goal of being famous.
Just thought up a really good basis for a Gweather fic, but it's almost 7am and really need to get some sleep.
Making a note here for future me: Make an outline for this idea. You know the one.
#I'm not active in the fandom or even really interested in TD anymore but. Here. A concept.#I have some thoughts about how Island Gwen's colder personality traits diminished in later seasons. She was kind of a bitch!! /pos#There was a lot of potential there to have her desire to win contrast against her moral compass in an internal struggle //#// all whilst having her outward persona of a broody goth girl and her general disdain for others (in s1) generate further conflict.#And how that struggle was directly contrasted by Heather who had all of the competitiveness and none of the moral hang ups.#They could make each other worse. That's what I'm saying.#td gwen#td heather#This probably makes very little sense. Feel free to ignore.

I wish TD leaned away from the character tropes it based its cast around more in the older seasons. Things were extremely trope-y, and having characters break away from their stereotypes would've been a nice way to signify the development of them as characters.
Like Heather breaking away from the "mean girl villain" trope during WT - she didn't lose her previous characteristics that played into it, but grew and changed enough to become more of an unlikely protagonist for that season, someone to root for.
#So many of the characters were locked into their stereotypes and never given room to breathe around the cliché.#Which has its strengths I suppose. But also really hinders their growth potential outside of their tropes.#Also some of the tropes were...very Of The Time. Which isn't great.#total drama#thoughtless posting

i uh. found this
Cool.
I skimmed through it. Seems like a lot of effort to go through to basically highlight "hey, this server full of teenagers that's been active for a good long while has, at some point, made mistakes that they've since apologised for". Nothing here is anything outright morally exempt, and quite frankly isn't worth making a whole document over.
The two "main issues" are things that could've been settled in DMs or by having a civil conversation.
I'd like to touch on this though,
Moderating isn't my job. It's a small, unofficial discord server that I barely contribute to and "needing to look into things before implementing punishment" is a good practice for larger and official servers, but not something I'm required to do. It's a small Discord server. Being banned isn't the end of the world. It's not that deep. And if I'm being honest, I'm not willing to get involved in whatever dispute happened.
As for the NSFW channel; that's an oversight on my part that I did eventually open my eyes to, and I apologise for the blunder on my part. Here's my explanation:
When I made the character appreciation channel I thought it'd be funny to make an "evil version" for the joking sort of less-than-wholesome expressions; I made the channel as an afterthought for the actual "gushing about my blorbo" channel and then promptly forgot about it. I hadn't intended for it to actually be a NSFW channel, and as far as I was aware it never actually became anything outright NSFW. Not that I checked it, that sort of content makes me uncomfortable. I have most of the channels in the server muted (in fact, I have most servers I'm a part of muted and set to mentions only, as this fits my personal preferences). It didn't occur to me that people were taking the channel seriously until much later, and by that point the people participating in it had expressed a desire to keep it - at which point I locked it behind a reaction role so that people who didn't have any interest in it didn't have to see anything (I had initially wanted to lock it behind an age role, but realised that people could just pick up multiple age roles, and it'd get confusing. So I made a new role people actively had to choose to access the channel). That was after I expressed a desire to take away the channel entirely, and was met with a resounding "please do not do that" from the people actively using it. So I became aware that people were using the channel to discuss not-so-PG topics. But the idea of having subjects of that matter on a server I owned just didn't sit right with me, and I discussed said discomfort with Perp a few times; it had gotten to the point that I dreaded opening the server in full, and lost a lot of weight due to anxiety-related health issues. Neither of us wanted the channel active on a server full of predominantly kids, but the kids themselves were arguing that it's better for them to have a safe environment to discuss these subjects in than the alternative, and that line of reasoning kept me in a state of limbo regarding the channel. I didn't want to take away what was, apparently, an outlet for the people involved, but I couldn't stand the idea of having that sort of content on the platform. Until, as you in see in the doc, I made a choice to get rid of it entirely. And that decision did come with some backlash, though that's not really relevant to the topic at hand.
It's not very interesting, but that's the general gist of it. I had no idea NSFW art was being posted there. It was a bad idea to add the channel in the first place, and it not being intended to be taken seriously doesn't mitigate the fact that it existed. And now it doesn't.
Other than that? This whole situation seems more like something that could be settled between the people involved, and really doesn't have a lot to do with the server at large. I don't want to get involved in whatever the dispute is and, quite frankly, see no reason to.
Again, I want to point out; moderating a discord server isn't my job. I don't even really know how to act as a moderator - the vast majority of Discord's features are a mystery to me. I'm barely active on the server as is, and I'm not going to spend hours of my time combing through the logs to verify something that could have easily been solved through DMs. Banning people isn't me condemning them, and it's barely the end of the world for someone to be banned from an unofficial fandom Discord server. I hold no ill will towards whoever I banned, it wasn't anything personal - like I explained in the server.
#not td related#I apologise for the restricted channel.#But I'm not apologising for not moderating a situation I had no input in. Especially when I wasn't even online for it.#People argue on the internet all the time. Talk it out. Open a group DM. Save google docs for actually problematic situations.

hey, any reason in particular you orphaned all your ao3 fics? /nf
I'm surprised someone noticed, to be fair. I orphaned them all a few months ago now.
I lost interest in the stories and, to some extent, the fandom, so I wasn't going to finish any of them. I thought I might as well orphan the fics, if only so people know they were going to remain unfinished.
Plus, my hours got increased at work so I don't really have the time nor energy to put towards writing any more, unfortunately.
#3am writing frenzies can only carry you so far when you're running on three hour's sleep and four cans of monster.#Plus the fics were pretty mediocre anyway so it's not like they were a huge loss to abandon.#not td related#replies
