(raises hand) excuse me teacher!!! what kind of responsibilities does Belle have after her parents ended up having a biological kid? is she just doing all the stuff the kid will end up doing one day until the kid is old enough? or is she like forced to do all the bureaucratic bullshit no one else wants to? also what are her parents planning to do with her now that they have a biological kid? what does Belle want to do in general?

Omg hi I'm so happy you're interested!!! In truth I had not thought overly much about the specifics yet but in my head the story takes place very soon after the real baby is born; belle is just kind of shunted off.

She's old enough to have a couple diplomatic/bureaucratic responsibilities that she hasn't been officially relieved of yet so she just has to continue doing those, albeit very reluctantly. She went from knowing exactly how her whole life was going to play out to having no idea, so she's kinda freaking out (internally. Externally she's just very irritable). She hasn't had much of a chance to develop any hobbies, but she does have quite a few scores she may want to settle.

As for what her parents were planning to do with her, I don't think they had legitimately thought that far ahead. They maybe had vague ideas of slotting her into some semi-important-but-not-too-influential role and assuming she'd be fine with it. they don't really see her as on the same level as a "real person"

so oc pilled recently.... if only i didn't suck at writing.... looong ramble under cut

been very busy lately but i have chipped away at these for a bit ahah

these were (i think) the very first ocs i have ever made so they are pretty dear to me. I struggled with their designs for a long time and even now i am a bit iffy about some parts of their design and story..

originally i think they were supposed to be the hero and antagonist (guess which was which lol) of some vaguely fantastical setting, serving as foils to each other, etc etc... again did not flesh much out and also i was like 10

now my idea with them is a (still fantastical) story about love, loss, and political intrigue. mostly lives in my head though i have tried to get some of it down on paper. I really get too in my head though when trying to plot stories so it takes me ages to do anything..

anyways. my thought with the world would be vaguely steampunky magical stuff.. the gist of it was that there was this magical substance (let's call it 'thread') that can be extracted from any matter, but is found in much greater concentrations from organics. using thread, in big enough quantities, you're able to make pretty much anything you can imagine! from everyday objects like furniture, to items with magic properties (eternally lit lanterns, veils that conceal ones identity, etc)

the problem is that people have been way too liberal with squeezing all the thread out of their surroundings, and it's left a 'hole' of sorts.. the world is out of balance, so it tries to take back what its missing.

enter: the monsters that i have yet to come up with a name for! (i'm imagining a black blob thing a la no-face but scarier) they seep out of the earth, and look for things to 'eat', to get thread from. therefore, they seek out large concentrations of living creatures (read: villages. of people). they're immensely destructive and will decimate a population until they're sated, upon which time they'll dissolve as quickly as they came into the world, having replenished the thread deficit.

they've been around for a while, but were generally so rare that they were considered myths by the general population. however, recently, a lot more rumored sightings have been going around...

right so the deal with the characters!! what (if you've read this far) you have been presumably waiting for. myrrh (red) is an apprentice alchemist with a mysterious (ooh) past. bar her master, no one has ever heard her speak. she's clever, confident, and utterly convinced of the existence of the monsters. her life goal is to 1) find evidence of them and prove they're real once and for all, and 2) wipe them from the face of the earth.

belle (blue) is a princess! she hates this. she's also a puppet brought to life to act as a surrogate daughter to the seemingly infertile royal couple. she might hate that more. especially after her parents have miraculously managed to conceive anyway, belle spends most of her time trying to avoid as many of her responsibilities that she can get away with. she's incredibly repressed, full of anger, and wants more than anything to be a real person.

these two serve as the main duo for the story! they meet while myrrh is sneaking into the palace, belle catching her. they do not get along at first, but begrudgingly agree to work together when it starts to look like there might be a palace conspiracy tied to the appearances of the monsters...

so yeah thats it! for the most part! if anyone has read all this by their own volition ily mwah ty for taking interest! if anyone has any questions i would love them this is the first time i have made public any oc lore... scary....
