Imagine.

Orochimaru ressurects the four hokage during the fourth shinobi war. Hashirama does his whole speech, they get told what’s happening out there, the usual. Suddenly, Tobirama stops silently fighting for control as he’s been doing since he felt the connection to the pure lands shut closed.

“If Madara is behind this war…” everyone can see the mental calculations in his eyes, “where did you steal my Edo Tensei Technique from?”

Orochimaru raises an eyebrow. “A laboratory in the northern mountains. The barrier seals were a work of art, a masterpiece of its own.”

“Did you discover any of my other labs?”

“Other?”

The Second Hokage nods continuously, deep into thought.

“Um, Tobirama?” Hashirama asks sternly. “I know that look on your face, what did you do?” Sasuke notes it’s a tone of voice he can vaguely recall Itachi using on him in their youth — an older brother absolutely done with his younger sibling’s antics.

“I… might have an idea. Wait a moment,” and with that, he teleports out of the room.

The non-Kage stare at the empty spot the Second was standing in a moment ago. Minato lights up.

“Oh, wow, I’ve always wondered how it originally looked,” Hashirama turns around and looks at him, so the Fourth explains, “I improved and mastered it. It was sort of my signature?” He adds a bit sheepishly. Hashirama gives him a smile.

“I’m glad Tobirama’s work is getting continued, then. He was always a great inventor, he just sometimes didn’t know when to stop.” He pointedly side eyes Orochimaru, who ignores it.

Then, Tobirama snaps back into the room. He’s holding a vial of a red liquid. The snake sannin looks very attentive.

“Okay, don’t be mad,” he starts, looking at Hashirama (who quickly rebutts “How do you expect me not to get mad if you start off like this?!”), “but I have an idea on how to throw Madara off, if not stop him in his tracks altogether.”

“What is that?”/“Who is that?” Minato and Orochimaru ask at the same time.

“Uchiha Izuna’s blood.”

Plot twist: Hashirama actually didn't mean anything of what he said and just projected his anger and frustration that come from inability to protect his brother on his brother.

And by "violent act" Hashirama means the cruel slaughter Senju had done to one of the smaller clans which Tobirama was actively participating in.

A list of things the founders make lists about:

Madara: not a list person. Nevertheless, he'll try to map out the pros and cons of a situation before getting frustrated and setting the paper on fire

Izuna: to do-s, future plans, jutsu he wants to try, plans of things to memorise w his sharingan

Mito: to do-s, correspondences, seals (type, purpose etc), current priorities, jutsu creation steps, seating arrangements, seasonal food plants and patterns, music she heard and liked, ppl to get revenge on

Hashirama: pretty things he saw, medicinal plants and where they grow, poisonous plants and where they grow, the crossover between medicinal and poisonous plants, vague ideas for political moves mostly discarded for drawings of animals (bad) and drawings of plants (much better), forbidden jutsu created by mito and/or tobirama

Tobirama: everything. Literally everything

When border negotiations turned into a skirmish, Izuna cursed himself slightly for being injured. He wasn't very careful earlier and he paid a price for that with a cut across his right leg.

Izuna had to put down his sword to use his signature fireball jutsu, until a suiton dragon crashed down the enemy formation, thus making Konoha gaining the upper hand.

Izuna: ?! that suiton ...

Tobirama: Izuna!

Tobirama came with backup, but the fight was good as finished after Tobirama's involvement. Izuna had to chuckle from that because his husband could be unpredictable at times.

Tobirama: how's your leg?

Izuna: bleeding profusely, hun. I can't really walk here

Tobirama, concerned: can you stand up atleast? I'll carry you back

Izuna: whaaaat??? No don't do that! *waves hands* just heal me here and it'll be done

Tobirama: my healing is not as good as my brother's though

Izuna: ah it's better than nothing

But the couple's banter was rudely interrupted when one injured enemy nin got up, somehow survived the water dragon jutsu. He started to berate and mock Izuna's incapabilities to defend himself and fight, and had to rely on a Senju to save him when he's an Uchiha.

Izuna was about to retort but then Tobirama placed a placating hand on his shoulder, his touch was warm but his gaze towards the enemy was cold and calculating.

Tobirama: I must refute your outlandish statement. My wife isn't a weak Uchiha, unlike your sorry self who couldn't even hold a candle to Izuna's magnificence.

Izuna: Tobi ...

Tobirama: you have insulted my spouse, therefore by extent you have insulted Konoha as a whole.

Before Tobirama could end the poor guy, it was Izuna's turn to grab his arm.

Izuna: don't. I think today is enough

Tobirama: but dear, he insulted you—

Izuna: so what? Atleast we did a number on him and his team. Look, he couldn't even stand up straight *giggles*

Tobirama sighed, he relented to Izuna's request. But that didn't stop him from picking his husband from the ground into a bridal carry, much to Izuna's chagrin and the shocked faces of their comrades.

Tobirama: let that be a lesson for you, and the rest of the village.

Izuna: *sighed* husband, you spooked him enough, let's go home instead, hm?

The journey back home was accompanied by Izuna's teasing over Tobirama's protective nature, and Tobirama denying left and right with a flush across his pale cheeks with Izuna's delight.

Hi! This is going to be quite a long list. Didn't add every single hc because I'm planning on writing a little fanfic and don't want to spoil some details to you hehe. Anyways, hope you enjoy! Some of these are very oddly specific, this man occupies at least half my brain if not more.

🔥 misc!

* He drinks his tea boiling hot. Burning your tongue? Never heard of it

* Is actually good at cooking and makes the most out of any ingredient available. Growing up in war, he knows how to make meals out of anything.

* Has a pillow to cuddle in bed! The dude is lonely.

* Very elegant and expensive hanko to stamp his documents. A clan leader needs to be fancy sometimes!

* Neat freak. Never has his house messy or his clothes out of place. Even his hair strands are calculated.

* Is actually able to mend/sew his clothes very well if some stitches are damaged during training.

* Sleeps a maximum of 6 hours a day, minimum of 30 minutes. The amount of sleep he gets is like playing a roulette (ever seen the eyebags? yeah)

* Speaking about the eyebags. His eyebags are both sunken and protruding (based on my personal experience of being sleep deprived+stressed) the lower eyelid pops out a little and the dark circles extend more.

* The man is physically unable to go out in social settings during the day. Only has social battery for the night. If he has to do some sort of diplomatic celebration with other clan leaders or kage during the day, he’ll leave the talking to someone better at social gatherings like Hashirama. 

* Has houseplants both for decoration and for cooking. We’re talking pretty succulents and mint plants or peach trees.

* The type of guy to wake up and immediately jump out of bed. Things have to be done everyday and he doesn’t trust people to do things the way he likes. 

🎀 appearance!

* Shaves to perfection every single morning, no excuses. Takes a little razor to missions, hates the feeling of facial hair growing. Trims his eyebrows as well. The Sharingan needs a pretty frame, right?

* The gloves have 2 purposes: protecting his hands from getting calluses or any form of damage due to the metal handle of the gunbai, kusarigama, etc and to hide burn scars (courtesy of @madaraservingcunt go follow her!)

* Continuing with the gloves, they’re made out of leather or thick cotton. Maybe has several sets of them for different activities.

* Smells like a mix of wood (cedar or pine), soot/ash, aloe and maybe lavender or wild daisy.

* Skincare and haircare? He’s VERY serious about these. Aloe vera facial masks for soothing the itchiness of constant katonjutsu, washes face with caution, rice water to keep his hair shiny, protective hairstyles to not damage the long hair strands, bamboo hairbrush to retain the natural oils, etc.

* Either has thick straight hair or textured and slightly wavy hair, definitely cut in layers. The wavy hair would make more sense as it poofs up when dry but looks rather straight when wet, taking into account the scenes of the battle in the Valley of the End (thank you Indra for the wavy hair and gorgeous mane genetics). Definitely loves his hair, fav part about himself.

* The bandages above his ankles are to keep the pants in place because his calves are thin and not very muscular, a small insecurity when he was a teen.

* Speaking of the terrible teens, he got grumpy whenever he got a breakout, zit, etc.

* Has mixed/dry, sensible skin. Dealt with painful and itchy sores due to lack of skin hydration while in war.

* Is a bit ashamed of his height and body proportions (i.e. wishing he was taller, less lean and more bulky, broader shoulders). These were regular nuisances during his teens but he eventually controlled the insecurities in adulthood, not managing to make them disappear completely nonetheless.

🍡 food!

* The databooks say that his fav food is inarizushi, so I've added that he likes similar things: onigiri, temaki, nigirizushi, tamagoyaki or even gyoza.

* Eats with little pleasure, only to fuel his body or whatever. That changes when Konoha is founded and he can actually enjoy and taste his meals.

* Dislikes greasy foods. Not a fan of ramen or katsudon, gyoza has to be boiled and would never eat tempura or ebi furai.

* Has a sweet tooth. We're talking dango, wagashi, dorayaki and more. However, only Izuna knew about this. Can't have a clan leader that eats candy like a little child.

* Prefers his sake cold and drinks mostly umeshu in informal gatherings.

* Actually likes fruit. I have no reason for believing this but he has the face of a man who likes fresh fruit. Fav fruit is persimmons or apples.

* Was malnourished as a child, giving away his food to his brothers or clansmen. Eventually took a toll on his muscle growth and height.

* Eats very light breakfast (maybe tea and some rice with nori or miso soup with wakame), heavy lunch (meat or fish, rice, more tea and other side dishes), no dinner.

* Favourite tea is jasmine or pu'erh, mostly drinks green tea and actually enjoys a good ceremonial matcha.

Helloooo its been so long, I know! But I kept editing these, here you go

- they honestly help balance each other: mitos temper is lessened and her patience strengthened , meanwhile hashi has less mental breakdowns and learns to carry himself with more pride

- he's esp prideful when he has his beautiful wife next to himself

- really, hashirama seems changed after marrying mito, and though at first the thought of an arranged marriage seemed to depress him, he quickly adapted to it and accepted it as a task for the village

-this ofc was before he saw mito firsthand and noticed how dignified she acted + how sharp her tongue was, when needed

-tobirama, who at first pushed for the alliance, was worried once he got to know mito outside of her reputation as a great kunoichi, beautiful woman, and someone blessed with good character. This man just can't choose whats good for his brother

- but hashis an adult with his own head and the traits that made tobi doubtful just strengthened his resolve to marry mito. He's a simp for dominant women, though he likes to play the dominant part sometimes

-after marrying, mito is pregnant pretty quickly, even though they said they wanted to wait for a bit, because they just weren't able to keep their hands off of each other

-madara is also annoyed with how lovey dovey hashi is about his wife, the constant praise and always bringing her up is shredding up the uchihas nerves

-after half a year the praise lessens though, and madara and tobi think its finally over, just for hashis kid to be born

-though the two men, as unlikely as they are (madara and tobi), they both think hashiramas and mitos child is very cute indeed and deserving of the praise

-they couldn't blame hashis constant praise when he got married and now they cant because of his firstborn. End of the story is that hashi cant shut up. We still love him though

Extra hc: both hashi and mito have a bet going about who can grow out their hair the longest. Mito is currently in the leading,even if its not visible bc she always ties up her hair

Fuckit fancy hairstyles hcs

Mito: actually sick to death of fancy hairstyles. After her marriage to hashirama, she's kept her hair in utilitarian buns and braids, and uses decorations if she wants to pretty them up. No more hours trying to get her hair right, no more pads and hair pieces, she is DONE with hours and hours and multiple people trying to get her hair right. She likes when Hashirama puts living flowers in her hair.

Hashirama: his hair is so silky smooth it denies styling. Nevertheless, he tries, but he's also a bit of a rough and tumbe lad, and often times his carefully prepared styles fall out in the course of being himself. His hair is SO soft.

Tobirama: does not care that it's kind of dubious to cut your hair short, if he feels his own hair on his shoulders he is going to stab something, and no, he cannot "just grow it out". His hair is on the cusp of curly and kind of hard to style, but he puts the effort in to make it look good. Tobirama likes looking good.

Madara: he has. So much hair. And it's thick. Wavy/curly, incredibly stubborn, the best way to deal w it is have it long and braid it away. He very much likes it out, though, it makes him feel big and powerful. It also Looks big and powerful, which is cool. He can do cool fancy styles w it very easily but tends not to bc...why would he bother?

Izuna: low key jealous of how much fluffy hair Madara has. Izuna's is much thinner and silkier, shinier. Beautiful crow feather black. If he could leave it alone like a good boy and do the styles his elders suggest for him, he would be the perfect picture of Uchiha beauty. Unfortunately, izuna is a bit of a rebel when it comes to personal appearance and he likes to do surprising things w himself. He scandalised the elders when he cut the back of his hair short, but at least he didn't take ALL of it off. Later, when he did end up cutting most of his hair off (at 3am in the kitchen, as is proper ♥) his clan members were unsurprised.
