🚫 Avoid These 6 Harmful Foods for Optimal Kidney Health:
1. Processed Foods: Ready-to-eat meals, canned soups, and fast food items are often high in sodium, which can lead to high blood pressure and kidney damage.
2. Sugary Drinks: Beverages like soda, energy drinks, and sweetened fruit juices are loaded with fructose, contributing to obesity and diabetes, both risk factors for kidney disease.
3. Red Meat: While red meat provides high-quality protein, excessive consumption can strain the kidneys. Metabolizing protein byproducts may lead to kidney damage and increase the risk of kidney stones.
4. Salt: A high-sodium diet can elevate blood pressure, a major risk factor for kidney disease. The kidneys regulate sodium levels, and excessive salt intake can impair kidney function. Choose low-sodium alternatives and monitor salt intake.
5. Caffeine: Caffeine, a diuretic, can increase urine production, potentially leading to dehydration and stressing the kidneys. Moderate caffeine consumption and staying adequately hydrated are essential for kidney health.
6. Alcohol: Chronic alcohol consumption can be damaging to the kidneys, leading to kidney disease and impaired function. Alcohol can also disrupt fluid and electrolyte balance, causing dehydration. Consume alcohol in moderation and be mindful of its impact on kidney health.

Your most vulnerable areas according to the signs
Disclaimer: These are based on personal observations and may not resonate for everyone with these placements. If it doesn’t apply, let it fly 🪽
Aries - Head, Face, Eyes, Brain, Muscular System
If you have significant Aries placements, you may be prone to migraines and headaches. If you play sports or work a highly active/physical job, be careful not to strain your muscles unnecessarily - learn the correct ways to lift and throw objects and maneuver your body. You're passionate and need lots of stimulation, but take time to rest and enjoy some quiet moment so that your eyes and mind get a break.
Taurus - Neck, Throat, Vocal Cords, Thyroid, Metabolic System
If you have significant Taurus placements, you may be prone to frequent colds, sore throat and earache. If you're a singer or heavily rely on your voice for your work, you'll want to take extra care to not damage your vocal cords, even accidentally. You may find that weight comes easily to you for seemingly no reason - have your thyroid checked regularly for signs of under-activity.
Gemini - Arms, Shoulders, Hands, Lungs, Nerves, Nervous System
If you have significant Gemini placements, you may be prone to coughs, colds, sinus issues and respiratory discomfort in general. Remembering to get enough fresh air and avoiding habits like smoking are probably in your best interest. You can also struggle with anxiety and fatigue from nervous exhaustion. Meditation and yoga can help tremendously in these areas.
Cancer - Chest, Breasts, Stomach, Uterus, Diaphragm, Upper Alimentary System
If you have significant Cancer placements, you may be prone to chest pains and digestive issues. Whether the pain is caused by stress, anxiety, poor breathing, or even having heavier breasts, you'll want to identify the root cause and take steps to resolve it before so it doesn't lead to depression. Therapy, meditation, improving your posture or investing in properly supportive garments can help in this regard.
Leo - Chest, Upper Back, Heart, Spine, Cardiac System
If you have significant Leo placements, you may be prone to heartbeat irregularities and high blood pressure. If there is any lesson you must learn from the king of the jungle, it is how to take time to relax. Be mindful of your energy levels and practice keeping calm even in the most infuriating situations. Eat heart-healthy foods and don't be afraid to walk away from people and places that trigger you to roar.
Virgo - Abdomen, Intestines, Lower Liver, Alimentary Canal, Spleen
If you have significant Virgo placements, you may be prone to weight problems (under or over) and stomach/bowel issues. You carry most of your stress in your midsection and have ongoing issues with your appetite and tolerance for food. Either you don't get enough due to stress and food aversions/complications, or you indulge too much in an attempt to relieve your anxiety. You're highly observant and don't miss too many details, so you're in a good position to listen to your body and find a routine that suits your mood and lifestyle.
Libra - Lower Back, Skin, Kidneys, Bladder, Ovaries, Blood
If you have significant Libra placements, you may deal with sensitive skin and also digestive issues. If you like to eat a lot of rich foods, you may need to cut back. Go easy on your stomach. It's okay to have the things you like but do so in moderation so you don't end up feeling constipated or having other bowel issues. Take a little extra time to moisturize your skin and drink a lot of water.
Scorpio - Genitals, Groin, Colon, Sex Organs, Gall Bladder, Rectum, Urogenital System
If you have significant Scorpio placements, you must absolutely take care of your sexual and hormonal health, otherwise you could experience more issues with your libido than others. Nothing wrong with being celibate or abstinent, but if your reasons are because you simply cannot get in the mood, you should get things checked out. And of course, if you have the opposite situation, stay safe and avoid STDs like the plague. Everyone should, but you can have an especially bad or treatment-resistant reaction.
Sagittarius - Hips, Thighs, Sciatic Nerves, Lower Spine, Liver, Autonomic Nervous System
If you have significant Sagittarius placements, you may be prone to falls And injuries that impair your ability to walk. If you have nerve issues or eyesight problems, you want to especially be careful to avoid accidents. As you may experience worse or consequences than some others. Even if you don't experience any major injury, you may notice that you have an unusual walk/gait, or others may point this out to you. Take care to maintain good posture and avoid reckless behavior/dangerous situations.
Capricorn - Skin, Hair, Knees, Bones, Teeth, Joints, Skeletal System
If you have significant Capricorn placements, You may be prone to broken bones or have already experienced this. You're not necessarily a weak person. Rather, you may have strong enough bones, but are just likely to break them if you're not careful about exerting too much force and not paying enough attention during physical activities. The main advice for you is to simply be careful and look before you leap. Literally. I have Capricorn moon and broke a finger playing volleyball and a toe playing soccer. I know two Capricorn suns who broke their arms from doing parkour. My 5H Capricorn BFF broke their wrist from skateboarding. You've been warned. On the bright side, you likely have strong, distinctive, or good looking teeth, maybe even both.
Aquarius - Lower Legs, Calves, Ankles, Circulatory System, Elimination
If you have significant Aquarius placements, you are either smooth in your movements, or you are clumsy and prone to stumbling and running into things. You may also have issues with the circulation in your legs, or have weaker ankles that don't support you very well when walking or standing still for long periods. This may not be something you can do much about through at-home remedies, but if you experience things like varicose veins or discomfort in your legs, have a doctor refer you to a specialist who can recommend corrective shoes or other treatment options.
Pisces - Feet, Toes, Body Fluids, Lymphatic System
If you have significant Pisces placements, I hate to tell you this, but you Are likely to have a weaker immune system than most. You are prone To worrying, or at least overthinking, quite a bit, which doesn't Help matters in the slightest. On a less serious, but no less irritating note. You may also deal with several food issues, including bunions, plantar fasciitis and fungal infections. All of my Pisces sun friends have complained to me about getting athlete's foot from walking around change rooms without slippers, or being unable to wear shoes they liked because of a bunion. But on the bright side, you folks usually have nice feet. Even the men. And I am not a foot person at ALL, so that's saying something coming from me.

40 sentences that will teach you more about nutrition than a $400,000 medical degree
From Brett Boettcher @brettboettcher1
40 sentences that will teach you more about nutrition than a $400,000 medical degree.
1) Meat, eggs and animal organs are the most nutrient dense foods on the planet.
2) Bone broth is loaded in collagen and helps repair the gut so you can heal from the inside out.
3) Saturated fat doesn’t cause heart disease, insulin resistance does.
4) Your ratio of triglycerides to HDL is a great indicator of mortality risk; the lower the better. ·
5) Protein is the most metabolically active macronutrient and it isn’t bad for your kidneys.
6) There isn’t quality evidence to show that dietary cholesterol impacts the cholesterol in your blood. ·
7) There is even less evidence to support that total cholesterol is bad for your health since it is inversely correlated to mortality risk. · 4h 8) Walking before and after meals is a great way to improve digestion and reduce blood sugar spikes.
9) Fiber is the last thing you need if you have IBS or diverticulitis.
10) Dairy is great for your health and its saturated fat intake is inversely correlated to heart disease.
11) Most nutritional recommendations were introduced based on profit margins, not health outcomes.
12) Calories in and calories out is all that matter, but some calories make you hungrier (sugar/grains). Other calories (protein) help you burn more calories.
13) Multi grain just means they took 2+ different terrible sources of grain and put them together into one product.
14) Cereal and bread for breakfast will spike your blood sugar and have you starving before lunch. Try Greek yogurt or eggs instead. ·
15) “Intuitive eating” and “listen to your body” makes no sense considering 88% of people are metabolically unhealthy and addicted to food. No one would say “intuitive crack use.”
16) Eating is a stress on your body; The less often you can eat, the healthier you’ll be.
17) Plan your meals around the protein source (with its natural fat) and add a small side of carbs if needed.
18) Eating for satiety is more important than relying constantly on willpower. Find filling foods and avoid foods with addictive properties (ultra-processed).
19) You don’t have to know how to cook. Grill a meat, sauté a green vegetable, bake a potato. Mix and match a million ways.
20) Eating many of the same foods every week isn’t perfectly optimal but it’s likely your best path to consistency and therefore success. ·
21) Becoming more insulin sensitive should be the focus of any health-related nutrition plan.
22) Salad dressings are one of the worst things you can eat for your health. High in calories and inflammatory industrial oils.
23) Eating 5x per day won’t boost your metabolism. If you are trying to gain weight, it’s an excellent strategy.
24) Bacon can be healthy, just avoid the processing with nitrates.
25) Cottage cheese and Greek yogurt are two of the best sources of protein per calorie.
26) Carbs are beneficial around a workout. But many sources of carbs are processed and easily overeaten. Focus on single ingredient foods.
27) You can’t be healthy at any size no matter what your mother or liberal arts professor said.
28) Eat a high protein meal before attending social events that are filled with junk food.
29) If eating out, order the food with the highest protein content.
30) The #1 reason people fail is that they don’t prepare. Meal prep, meal plan, have ready to eat protein sources. · 31) The food you eat directly impacts your mental health and processed foods are correlated with depression and mental illness.
32) Processed foods have been engineered to be as addicting as possible. Your taste buds can be retrained with natural sources.
33) “Plant-based” foods are made in laboratories and are an easy way to sell overpriced junk to consumers at high margin.
34) Eating 1 gram of protein per lb of ideal body weight daily will do more for your body composition than spending 30 minutes on the treadmill.
35) When in doubt, if it comes from the center aisles of the grocery store or has more than 3 ingredients, it’s not good for you.
36) Many foods labeled as “keto” “paleo” or “high protein” are far from meeting the intended definition.
37) Your gut is responsible for 70% of your immune system; feeding it sugar and other inflammatory foods is making you sick now and later.
38) Genetics play a role but over 90% of the country has a resting metabolism within 500 calories daily. Being fit is possible for everyone.
39) Flipping the food pyramid upside down is closer to healthy eating than the traditional suggestions.
40) Eliminating drinking your calories is the first change to make when trying to improve your health.

detoxification and behavioural addiction
a detox, short for detoxification, refers to the process of removing toxic substances from the body. medically, detoxing is an essential step in addiction recovery. it helps individuals safely eliminate toxic and addictive substances from their bodies while managing withdrawal symptoms. it’s crucial for those with physical and psychological signs of substance dependence.
i believe, personally, that everyone has a 'drug of choice'. this isn't necessarily a substance but can be a hobby or activity. even a person. addictive behaviour arises from a desire to escape an undesirable reality through fantasy living. daydreams about a better life can drive these behaviours.
a negative example of a 'drug of choice' could be excessive eating. it's a compulsive behaviour and a coping mechanism for some individuals. some studies suggest that the brain's reward pathways involved in addiction may also play a role in binge eating.
a positive example of a 'drug of choice' is someone who dances, compulsively and as a coping mechanism. this person may use dance as an outlet - to express themself. it allows them to focus on the present moment and can reduce stress and anxiety.
obviously, this behaviour becomes an issue when it is dangerous, and excessive. this is a reason to detox.
too often, the word 'detox' is thrown around online, without many people understanding what the process actually is.
your body naturally eliminates toxins through organs like the liver, kidneys, digestive system, skin, and lungs. no special diets or expensive supplements are required for this process. detox diets often include laxatives, diuretics, teas, and other products. however, evidence doesn’t support their effectiveness for toxin elimination or sustainable weight loss. your healthy organs already handle detoxification efficiently.
detox is only the initial step towards recovery. it's super important to seek professional help if needed, find people to talk to, understand your vulnerabilities and triggers, and set boundaries.
the key is to find a healthy outlet, your 'drug of choice'.
finding a healthy outlet involves discovering activities that nourish your well-being and provide positive emotional release. consider your interests, passions, and what brings you joy. reflect on past experiences - what activities made you feel fulfilled.
some ideas for different activities include:
running
dancing
playing music
gardening
yoga
cooking
pay attention to how different activities make you feel. choose something that energizes you rather than drains you. mix physical, mental, and social outlets. avoid overcommitting - balance is key.
something to be aware of is the mind-body connection. it's the intricate interplay between our mental and physical health. it recognizes that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours significantly impact our overall well-being.

Hi Hell, congrats on the exciting foster kitten news!
I just applied to adopt a kitten and had my interview for her today. The woman seemed most interested in convincing me of how terrible dry food, traditional litter (she preferred clay), and tap water is for cats. She said the carbohydrates and ingredients were terrible for their kidneys, the dust in litter is bad for their lungs, and the chlorine in water is harmful. I have a 12 year old cat named Scipio who has been using those things all his life, and now I feel guilty and scared for his health. He seems perfectly healthy to me but she said “cats are stoic.” What do you use with the Tiny Terrors? Is she extreme?
Well, I'm not a vet, so the actual answer is that your cat should be getting what their doctor recommends. But I've had those conversations with people before, and I can give my two cents--just take it with a grain of salt.
So...it's basically always true that you can spend more money on fancier 'health' options and there is, to some extent, benefit to the pricier choices. But there's a point at which that benefit is pretty minimal compared to what you get for the midrange price options. This is as true for pet health as it is for people health.
It's true that wet food is usually a better option for cats. Among other things, it helps them stay at a healthy level of hydration, can be easier on their digestive systems, and is often more palatable for cats who are elderly or have dental problems. But that doesn't mean that dry food is inadequate--Mal and Vice used to split a can of wet food daily, and graze dry food whenever they wanted. They're currently eating almost exclusively dry food, because Vice is on a sensitive skin and stomach diet to help address his overgrooming. I would avoid the bottom-end dry foods, because they seem prone to contamination, but that's more manufacturer quality than an issue with the dry food generally. Dry food is usually a nutritionally complete way to feed a cat, and there's nothing wrong with it.
Mal and Vice drink tap water. They have a bowl of still water, and a fountain with an inbuilt filter. The fountain is because if they don't have running water, they will make running water by splashing their bowls all over. I can't speak to chlorine but it's definitely healthier than drinking out of puddles, which is what they would be doing if left to their own devices.
They use clay litter because that's what's effective and affordable. When I'm changing it out I generally give it a few minutes for dust to settle before I let them at it--someone always wants to make a deposit in the clean box--but there's pros and cons to all the litter options out there.
In a perfect world with infinite resources, I'd be feeding the cats a careful balanced diet of fresh-prepared meats and filtered spring water, and they'd take dumps in a tiny kitty toilet that cleaned itself without my help. But that's not really practical or achievable for me, my life, or my cats, and frankly, it's not necessary. I want them to have a good life. It doesn't need to be a perfect one. If your cat is doing well, and their vet is giving them a clean bill of health, you probably have nothing to worry about. I'm not a professional; you should consult your vet and research options for yourself (which is what I do) but you're not doing anything wrong here.
I will say that when I was going through the process of adopting Mal and Vice, some places (usually private rescues) wanted me to jump through INSANE hoops to even apply. I respect that their hearts are in the right place, but... There are hundreds of kittens in shelters right now that need homes desperately, and the quality of the cat has very little to do with the quality of the rescue--they might have more or less vet work done, depending on where they're coming from, but nobody's managed to fundamentally change the nature of the beast. If you can provide a safe home, food, clean water, and attention to a cat, that's really all they need. The rest is just gravy.

simple skincare tips!
🌼eat the foods that love you back. your skin is a direct mirror of your internal situation. if your digestive system is being bombarded often by foods that create a lot of wastes and residues, that does more harm than good. and so, the struggle to eliminate them will be reflected in your skin. your diet constitutes the vast majority of your skin health. change your meals to be whole food plant based (still delicious, satisfying, and exciting) & watch your skin glow and your skincare routine simplify.
🌼be conscious of what's going on your skin. the skin layers can be over-cleansed, imbalanced, and aggravated when the skin microbiome and pH are disrupted. if you wipe out the beneficial bacterial populations with harshly formulated products, you may find that you break out (i.e. harmful bacterial populations begin to thrive). use gentle, simple skin formulas such as castile soaps, natural oils & butters (i recommend jojoba oil for mostly everyone), natural soap bars, and clays. most commercial skin care products disturb the skin cells (introduce too much foreign material to the body, unsuitable pH ranges, imbalance the microbiome, etc). they sell because it's convention to buy them, the brands are well-known, and their sales pitches are enticing. but really, no cream or serum will ever be the magic potion your skin was asking for. it will only be a band-aid, at best. truly healthy skin comes from diet, and the products are just for any other necessary maintenance. if you get a pimple, you should look first to why the pimple emerged, not what treatment will remove it.
🌼keep your lymph flowing. simple ways to do this are through good lifestyle habits. things like doing exercise & sports you find fun, breathwork, dry brushing, eating lots of fruit, avoiding wearing bras & other tight clothing items, lymphatic massage/gua sha can all be helpful.
🌼focus on hydration via fresh fruits and veggies. the water within plant foods is more useable to your cells, and your skin will cease being overly oily or dry overtime (especially if you reduce/eliminate your salt & oil intake). it will also help to encourage lymphatic flow, so you can see problems like blemishes, cellulite, old scars diminish after great consistency.
🌼allow your skin to breathe. this is especially good if you spend time in stuffy (poorly ventilated) indoor environments, like offices, hospitals, planes, etc. one great way is via herbal facial steaming (i recommend it 3x a week or so). make a hot infusion of an aromatic tea, cover it and allow it to cool a few minutes, and, with closed eyes, allow the pores to open and receive the herbal medicine (this is a great time to meditate, manifest, and just feel pampered). getting more fresh air, working up a sweat, and going to a sauna are also ways to allow your skin to breathe.
🌼avoid steroid prescriptions creams at all costs. they are very deleterious to health in the long term, and they can be very painful to come off of. it's not a real fix. it's not worth hurting your kidneys & adrenals for. evaluate your diet instead. do you eat dairy? choose plant-based dairy options instead (they're simple to make yourself too). do you eat a lot of fats? try oil-free cooking methods instead (opt for sautéing with a bit of water, baking, steaming, air frying, etc). avoiding eating out as much.
🌼be aware of what you're putting in your hair as well. your shampoos, conditioner, leave-ins, gels, moisturizers, oils, serums, etc all tend to touch your face too, when your hair touches your face. if they wouldn't be good enough to put on your face, don't put them in your hair. a lot of the best skin cleansers are also suitable as shampoos. a lot of oils and butters can be used for both. plant-based gels like aloe vera or flax seed are simple to DIY, and are dual-use once again. basically, this will simplify your life.
🌼understand the water that runs through your pipes. if your shower and tap water are like most people's around the world, they aren't optimal for our skin. for example, they contain added chemicals to sanitize the water but that can prevent the proper microbiomes from developing on your skin. a weak skin microbiome is prone to skin issues. so, try to use distilled water on your face (if you're not able to get a water filter, a gallon jug at a store is affordable. they're about $1.30 USD in my area).

Danny's forced trip to the doctor reveals he has several unexplained and suspicious unhealed or badly healed injuries
more phic for phic phight
He was sore. Even just laying in bed hurt. He didn’t know how long it would last for like this. But his alarm was going off and he needed to get ready for school.
He lifted his arm up and pressed the button to turn his alarm off. He laid his arm across his face and groaned. Time to get up.
Danny rolled onto his side and shakily pushed himself up. Once up, he sat on his bed for a few moments out of breath. It took too long to pass and he sighed. A knock sounded at the door and he jumped.
“Danny, sweetie, are you waking up?” His mom called.
The sound of a saw. A bright light above him. His missing kidney being passed from one person to the other.
He shook his head and took a deep breath.
“Yeah, Mom! I’m awake!” He said shakily.
“Okay. Make sure to get some breakfast on the way out. I made eggs and bacon with waffles today.”
“Okay, I’ll eat some.” He called back. He wasn’t sure he’d be able to stomach it.
He listened to the sound of her walking away from the door and waited until he couldn’t hear her steps anymore.
Time to start the day.
He slowly stood up and grabbed a change of clothes and headed across the hallway to the bathroom. He started up the water and waited for it to get warm while he brushed his teeth. He turned the water off and stared into the mirror for a few moments as the water ran in the shower behind him.
He started peeling off his hoodie, trying to avoid looking at the scar on his chest that trailed up over his collarbones. He turned around and dropped the hoodie on the floor and finished undressing before he stepped into the shower.
Once he was done, he got dressed and pulled on a new hoodie. Dropping his old clothes off in his room, he grabbed his backpack and headed downstairs.
His mom turned and looked up at him when he entered the kitchen.
“Danny, it’s awfully warm today. Are you sure you want to wear a hoodie?” Maddie asked as she set a plate down in front of him.
“It’s colder inside the school.” Danny poked at the food on his plate. “I’ll be fine.”
“Are you sure-”
“Danny-boy!” Jack walked into the living and slapped a hand on Danny’s back. “Be sure to save some waffles for the rest of us!”
“Jack!” Maddie shooed him to his own seat as Danny gasped for the air that was knocked out of him. “You know Danny’s been sore and out of breath lately.”
Jack knocked himself in the head. “Drat! That’s right. Sorry, Danny.”
“Speaking of that.” Maddie took her spot next to Jack. “You have a doctor’s appointment after school today, Danny.”
Danny spit out the small bite of eggs he finally put in his mouth. “A doctor’s appointment?”
Maddie nodded. “You’re overdue for a regular checkup and with all these other concerning symptoms you’ve been having, I think it’s time you go in for one.”
“But after school I-”
“Nope.” Maddie shook her head. “You have no extracurriculars and whatever you might have planned with Sam and Tucker can wait until after you go to your doctor’s appointment.”
“But-”
“No buts. I’ll be picking you up after school today and we’ll be heading straight there.”
Danny slumped forward in his seat and twirled his fork around on his plate.
Maddie sighed. “Look, I know going to the doctor can be scary. Especially when something is wrong but you don’t know what. Going to the doctor when symptoms first appear instead of waiting will prevent any issues from getting worse.”
Danny nodded. “I understand.”
They finished eating the rest of their breakfast. Danny still had a bit on his plate, but he pushed it away from him and stood up.
“Have a good day at school, Danny.” Maddie came around the table and gave him a kiss on the forehead. Danny tried not to cringe and stooped down to pick up his backpack and head to school.
~~~~~~~~~~
Danny stared at where his mom’s car was parked in the parking lot.
“You sure you’ll be okay?”
He turned to look at Sam and Tucker as they walked up to him.
“Yeah, Sam. I think I’ll be okay. It’ll just be a regular check up, right? What can they all do at one of those?”
“Just give us a call when you’re done.” Sam said.
“Or if you need us to break you out of there.” Tucker gently nudged him. “We’ll bust down every door to get you out.”
Danny chuckled. “I’m sure I’ll be fine, Tuck. But I will let you guys know how it went afterwards.”
He walked away from them and made his way to his mom’s car.
He pulled the door open and threw his bag onto the floor and jumped into the passenger seat.
“Hi, Danny!” His mom smiled at him as he shut the door and put his seatbelt on. “How was school?”
He shrugged as she pulled out of the parking lot. “It was fine. It was school. Didn’t do much of anything interesting today.”
“Aw. That’s too bad.” Maddie said.
They drove his silence until they pulled into the parking lot of the hospital.
“The hospital?” Danny asked. “Why didn’t we go to our usual doctor’s office?”
“Because here they can perform any kind of tests they might deem necessary. If they don’t think you need anything else done, they will. If they don’t they’ll just do the regular check up and then send us home.”
She turned the car off and got out. Danny sat there for a few moments staring at the building before he finally opened his door and stood up. He followed his mom across the parking lot and into the building. Right inside the entrance was a reception desk and his mom walked up to an empty booth and smiled at the receptionist.
“Hi! We’re here for an appointment for Danny Fenton?”
The receptionist shuffled around a couple papers and clipped them into a clipboard with a pen.
“You can take a seat and fill out these forms while you wait for the nurse. They’ll be out shortly.”
They walked over to the waiting area and took a seat in two chairs.
They went through the checklist and filled out every symptom Danny could remember having in the last six months and his family’s medical history. They were at the bottom of the sheet when a nurse walked through the door leading to the examination rooms.
“Danny Fenton?”
Maddie stood up and Danny’s heart rate spiked.
“Haha, you don’t have to come with me, mom. I’m old enough to go to my own doctor’s appointments on my own now.”
Maddie frowned at him. “Are you sure? I can come in and advocate for you. Make sure they’re taking you seriously.”
“No no, it’s fine. I’ll be okay.”
He stood up with the clipboard and walked over to the nurse.
“I’m Danny.”
“Hi, Danny.” The nurse smiled at him. “If you follow me, we’ll start by taking your height and weight. Once we get to the examination room we’ll go through checking your vitals.”
They walked up to a scale and Danny took off his shoes.
“120 pounds.” The nurse said.
She unfolded the height thing and pulled it down to the top of his head.
“Five foot five. Follow me.”
He followed behind her down the hallway. He studied the walls as they walked by another desk. She stopped and opened a door to their right.
“In here. You can take a seat on the bed over there.”
He sat down and took another look around the room. It looked like any other normal doctor’s room he’s been in before.
“We’re going to start with your temperature.”
She stuck a thermometer in his ear and took it out when it beeped. She frowned at it. “Ninety four degrees.”
She stuck another thing in his ear and moved to his other side. When she was done, she grabbed the blood pressure device. He held up his arm and she wrapped it around it and started pumping it. It squeezed Danny’s arm as she studied the measurement. She pulled it off.
“Blood pressure is low.”
A knock sounded at the door and a doctor walked in.
“Hi, Susan. I can take it from here.” She said.
Susan walked out of the room and the doctor sat down in the swivel chair next to the bed.
“I’m Dr. Burnell. Your mom said you came in with concerns about shortness of breath today?”
“You talked to my mom?” He asked.
She nodded. “I just went to ask her a few questions and to get permission to run tests.”
“Don’t you need my permission too?” Danny frowned at her.
“Unfortunately, your mom has the legal say on any medical treatment you go through. But any tests we run are for your benefit so we can get to the root of the issue. But before we get to any of that, I’m going to ask you to take a couple deep breaths while I listen through the stethoscope.”
“Okay…”
She stood up and walked over to him. She placed the stethoscope on his back and listened as he took a deep breath. She frowned.
“Can you take another breath?”
He did as she asked and she stepped away.
“Have you had any injuries lately? Been hurt in any sports at school?”
His bones cracking as his chest was ripped open. The pain as it radiated outward. Voices talking around him.
“No.” He said shakily. “No injuries. I don’t play any sports at school.”
Her frown deepened. “I’d like to do an x-ray of your chest. It sounds like you may have a couple broken ribs. That could explain your soreness but not your shortness of breath. For that I’d like to do an MRI.”
“Broken ribs?” Danny asked. He would have thought those would have healed by now.
Dr. Burnell nodded. “When a patient has broken ribs, you can hear them rattling through the stethoscope. There’s not much we can do for those besides prescribe bed rest and pain meds while you’re healing.”
He nodded. “Okay.”
“If you come with me, we can get started.”
~~~~~~~~~
Danny was led back to his examination room once the tests were over. They were much more painless than he was expecting, but he still didn’t know what his body would look like in them. If his ghostly qualities would appear in them.
He’d been sitting in this room for quite a while now and he wasn’t sure when the doctor would be coming back.
A knock finally sounded at the door and Danny jumped in his seat. “Come in.” He called.
Dr. Burnell walked in, staring at some sheets in her hands. She looked frazzled and concerned.
“We have your scans back Danny, but we haven’t gone to talk to your mom yet. We wanted to check in with you first.”
Danny frowned at her. What could they have found that she’d be this concerned about? Especially if they still haven’t gone to get his mom to tell them the news together?
“You do indeed have a couple broken ribs. When we did the MRI we did find out that the broken ribs are pushing against your lungs causing your shortness of breath.”
Danny nodded. Was that all they were concerned about?
“But we found something else.”
She handed him his x-ray. His heart dropped into his stomach at the color he saw in the scan that he knew wasn’t supposed to be there.
A green orb sat in the center of his chest.
“And your MRI.”
She handed him another scan and this one had specks of green littered throughout his body.
The doctor stared at Danny.
“What did your parents do to you?”
Danny pulled back suddenly. “What do you mean what did my parents do to me?“ he asked shakily.
“We have no other evidence of this type of ecto-contamination in any other patients in Amity Park.” Dr. Burnell said. “We see cases of child abuse often in the hospital. It’s something we have to ask.”
“My parents would never hurt me.” Danny said shakily as he stood up from his seat.
“We’ve already contacted CPS. They’re going to come and ask you and your mom some questions.”
Danny started hyperventilating. They were going to tell his mom about his injuries and ecto-contamination. They were going to tell her about his core. How would he explain this away? If he was just ecto-contaminated he could get away with that, but not having a core.
“I- I have to go.” Danny turned towards the door and tripped over his own feet. He hit the ground hard and his chest exploded in pain and stars burst in his eyes.
“Danny!” Dr. Burnell shouted. He could hear her running over and kneeling on the ground beside him. She turned him to his back. Then there was a light shining in his eyes.
White light. The pain. His parents.
“Get away from me!” Danny shouted.
His ghostly wail must’ve pushed its way into his shout through his anxiety because the windows on the wall opposite from them shattered. Dr. Burnell covered her face and Danny pulled himself away from her, backing up across the floor.
“What was that?” Dr. Burnell asked.
Danny shook his head. “My mom didn’t do anything.”
“Okay.” She whispered. “Okay. She didn’t do anything. But we still don’t know what that is inside your chest. It might be a tumor. We need to-”
He covered his chest with his hands. “No!”
His core in their hands. Bright lights. Even brighter light. It fell back in his chest and his parents were covering their eyes. His chance.
“You can’t have it!”
“What is it?”
Danny stared at her. He couldn’t tell some random person his secret. There was no way.
But this was a doctor. If his mom kept forcing him to go to doctors appointment after doctor's appointment, he’d keep having the same problem. The doctor’s discovering something they shouldn’t have that could only really be worked back to his parents.
Was there anything else he could do?
“It’s… It’s my core. I’m half ghost.”
“Half ghost?” Dr. Burnell asked. “That doesn’t sound real.”
Danny nodded. “It is. But you can’t tell my parents. CPS can’t talk to them.”
She gave him some placating hand gestures. “Okay, okay. They’re on their way right now. How do we stop them?”
Danny turned intangible and invisible and called on his transformation. He flew his way towards the waiting room and got there just as someone walked up to his mom.
“Madeline Fenton-”
He flew into their body, overshadowing him.
“Yes?” Maddie asked.
“Oh, nothing much. We just wanted to check and say hi. Danny will be out shortly.”
“Oh! Okay. Should I start checking out?”
He nodded. “You guys will be all set to go.”
She stood up and headed towards the reception desk. Danny turned and walked through the door leading to the hallway and walked the agent around a couple turns and corners before flying out of him.
Danny transformed back and was about to walk back out through the door when he saw Dr. Burnell.
She had a stoney expression on her face. He was sure she didn’t believe him. He wouldn’t believe him either. But there was no other option. Not one that disrupted his entire life and flipped everything on its side. He was already different. He didn’t want anything else to change.
He walked back out through the door, ignoring Dr. Burnells gaze.
“How did everything turn out Danny?” Maddie asked him as they walked out through the front entrance.
Bright light. Saw. Nicked his core. Screams. Escape.
“It’s alright.” Danny lied. “Perfect bill of health.”

Hi! Could you recommend some of your resources to learn about nutricion?
Hey sweetie, first source of learning about nutrition for me was listening to my body.
Seeing how my body responds and feels after certain foods, a food log definitely helps just writing your meals or using an app like my fitness pal. You can then get a broader picture of what’s going on. I sensed something was off as I was eating loads of what seemed ‘healthy food’ but I felt exhausted and hungry. My glucose levels from the carbs were spiking and dropping from sweet potatoes to cheeky whole grain crackers, to apples.
I wish I did this sooner, but I got a freestyle libre 2 off Amazon this is a continuous glucose monitor you wear on your arm. This allowed me to learn in real time how my body was responding to the foods I was eating. The most important thing was to avoid the extreme glucose highs and lows from the food (fruits, carbs, sugars,, starches), so I switched to protein and greens diet. Mainly my own research and intrigue that led me down this path. I listened to podcasts on hormone imbalance, and gut health.
Other resources books: deep nutrition, the pro-biotic diet, general research and articles online. This podcast was great on gut microbiome
My main focus was regulating hormones as I was in extreme estrogen dominance, so I zoomed out and researched liver health also because the liver is responsible for removing excess estrogen, kidney health, gut health. I am still on the journey and about to enroll on a nutrition course so will definitely post more as I learn! 💗

"i'm on my vigilante shit again..." - vigilante shit, taylor swift
word count: 2k
Crystal finds herself in the middle of an incident and decides to step in, using her powers to help an innocent woman on the streets of Hell’s Kitchen.
Tumblr media
For the next few nights, Crystal laid low in a run down hotel in the neighborhood of Hell’s Kitchen just to ensure that she was not followed to the States by any of her father’s men. One evening while she was going back to the hotel with takeout Chinese food in hand, she heard a scream behind her. Not wanting any attention brought to herself, Crystal quickened her pace, getting back to her hotel and locking herself in her room for the night.
As she ate her dinner though, she couldn’t help but hear a nagging little voice in the back of her head telling her that she should have turned around and helped whoever screamed. “You have the ability to save people with your gift, but now for all you know, they’re dead on the street,” the voice told her, making a hard knot form in the back of her throat. She forced down the rest of the food and tried to ignore the little voice which she had begun to attribute to an angel that was sent by God to torment her.
The next few nights passed, and the same thing happened: she would be out and some bad thing or another would be happening to an unseen stranger and instead of helping she ran to shelter, hoping that the proper authorities would deal with the perpetrator. The pattern continued until one night she was walking back to her hotel and a woman walking in front of her was being catcalled by a group of drunk men ambling down the sidewalk.
Crystal was about to cross the street and avoid the men until one of them began to grope the poor woman who began sobbing as they started ganging up on her. “Do something! Use your gift for good!” said the voice.
With a slight bit of hesitation, Crystal sighed, pulling her scarf over the bottom half of her face and her hood over her head. She made her way into the nearby alleyway before stomping the ground, causing a few good-sized pieces of pavement to become free from the sidewalk. She made punching motions which made the stones fly toward the woman’s attackers, heading straight for their stomachs, kidneys, and groin areas. “What the hell man, who’s throwing rocks at us?!” one of the men shouted as he uncoordinatedly swung his arms around trying to fend off the projectiles.
At this comment and upon seeing that the men were not necessarily deterred, Crystal took it up a notch, crouching down and punching the ground, causing a large crack to form in the pavement. This made the inebriated men trip and their victim used this opportunity to slip away from the group, sprinting in the opposite direction. As she ran, she looked around into the alleyway Crystal had hidden in, but by then she had already used her powers to form a wall so the woman wouldn’t see her.
After a few minutes when the drunk men began stumbling off once more, Crystal continued the trek to her hotel for the night with a warm feeling radiating in her chest. She smiled to herself at the feeling, knowing that if she was still here, her mother would be proud of her for using her gift for good, not just to intimidate high-rolling drug dealers.
Rounding the corner, Crystal brushed past a young blonde woman about to get into her car. She kept her head down and hood up as she passed the woman, unsure if she had witnessed the encounter. She ducked into another alleyway and watched as the woman fished for her keys in her pockets, ensuring that she got into her car safely. Once she was inside and began to drive away, Crystal walked off in the opposite direction of her hotel, suddenly feeling a desire to aid someone else before she turned in for the night.
It didn’t take too long to find some teenage thug sprinting away from a bodega with an armful of presumably stolen goods. The owner wasn’t too far behind, but seemed to be running out of steam as he ran after the young man. Crystal gently stomped her foot on the ground and gestured up with her palm, causing a portion of the sidewalk to shift upward, tripping the young man. As he fell to the ground, the bodega owner caught up to him and took back his goods, shouting at him to get lost, citing that this time he was letting him off easy.
That warm feeling filled Crystal’s chest once more as she went deeper into the alleyway to hide from the bodega owner. Once he was gone, before she could head back out into the open, she was suddenly pinned to the brick wall from behind. Acting on instinct alone, she warped the wall, causing her attacker to lose their grip on her. She used this moment to slip out of their grasp and stomped the ground, making a punching motion and causing two large pieces of pavement to fly into the air at her attacker who dodged them gracefully, almost like an acrobat.
When she finally got a good look at the man, she saw that he wore all black and had a black piece of fabric covering the upper half of his face. She didn’t get much time to take in anymore details before he was attacking again, throwing quick punches that took her off her feet. “Who are you and what are you doing in my city?” the man’s deep voice asked as he stood above her.
Gesturing upward once more from her place on the ground, the two pieces of stone from before were hovering on either side of the man’s head again. Crystal quickly drummed up a generic American accent and said to the man, “Give me one good reason I shouldn’t smash your head in right now for attacking me.”
“I’m not the one on the ground here. Answer the question,” he demanded. “Who are you and what are you doing in my city?”
Crystal scoffed. “Your city?”
“You’re not from around here are you?” the man asked.
“And what makes you think that?” Crystal returned.
“Because everyone from around here knows who the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen is.”
“Oh, so you’re not just some acrobat running around cosplaying as Westley from The Princess Bride?” Crystal smarted off.
The man opened and closed his mouth before sighing and shaking his head. “Look, clearly you don’t know how things work around here, but I can also tell by the fact that you haven’t smashed my head in that you aren’t one of the bad guys. The police have come to trust me to bring in criminals around here, but if they see someone tearing up their roads and assaulting people with rocks, they’re going to take you in and this whole vigilante thing will be over before you even get started. Stay out of things you have no business sticking your nose in.”
Crystal slowly stood up and lowered the stones to the ground, telling him, “All I did was make sure a woman didn’t get assaulted and that a man didn’t get robbed.”
“And I’m sure they appreciate that, but just trust me when I say to stay out of it before you’re in way over your head. If I could take you down that easily you don’t stand a chance against the real criminals around here,” he said before jumping up onto a fire escape above him.
“You’re wrong,” Crystal called back to him as he jumped onto the roof of the building. When he turned back toward her, she elaborated, “All I want is to help people and to do good with the gift I’ve been given. I’ve taken down dozens of men bigger and stronger than you, believe me. You’re just going to have to deal with the fact that I’m here to stay, Mr. Devil.”
Without saying anything in response, the man turned away and sprinted off along the rooftops. Crystal shook her head as she placed her hand on the ground and returned the wall and pavement to their original state. With this newfound desire to help people, no one was going to stop Crystal, not even the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen.
Tumblr media
The next morning at the new law office of Nelson, Murdock, and Page, the young blonde woman entered the office, sending her friends a greeting before asking, “Hey Matt can I talk with you real quick?”
“Of course,” Matt Murdock said as he gestured for her to enter his small office space. When she sat down, he asked, “Everything okay, Karen?”
“Yeah, fine, I just saw something weird last night…” she replied, playing the scene over again in her head for the dozenth time.
“Weird as in…?” Matt prompted.
“As in like…someone with abilities stopping some drunks from assaulting someone,” she said, unsure of how to word the phenomenon without sounding like she was the drunk one. “It’s like they were… I don’t even know, they seemed to have a range of abilities I can’t put a single word to it,” Karen said, frustration seeping into her voice at her lack of words. Usually, Karen was well-spoken and eloquent, it’s one reason she used to be such a good journalist, but this was not one of those moments.
“Well what did this person do?” Matt asked, curiosity in his voice.
“Well they seemed to use their mind to… I dunno…”
“Manipulate concrete,” Matt finished.
“Yes!” Karen said, snapping her fingers and pointing toward Matt. “They launched rocks at some drunk guys trying to assault this poor woman, seemed to know exactly where to aim them for damage that wasn’t lethal. They also caused a rift in the sidewalk which was the distraction the woman needed to get away.” She paused for a moment before asking, “Wait, how did you…?”
“I ran into her too,” Matt replied, drumming his fingers lightly on his desk.
“As Matt or…?”
“No, as Daredevil. I told her to not stick her nose into things before she gets in over her head,” he said with a shake of his head.
“Before who gets in over their head?” came Foggy Nelson’s voice as he popped his head into the office space. “God, please don’t tell me we’re getting roped into another one of your self-sacrificing vigilante things, because after Fisk last year I’ve had enough of that to last me a lifetime. At least wait a couple years before we do that again.”
“It’s just some woman with powers we both ran across last night,” Matt told his best friend and law partner.
“Why’d you tell her to stop?” Karen asked curiously.
“Because when people around here try to play vigilante, people end up hurt, that’s all,” Matt said.
“Yeah, including you, buddy,” Foggy replied. “Why not let whoever this is do what they do and give yourself a break for once in your life?”
There was a long pause before Matt said, “Because I’m not sure if she’s got the right intentions yet.”
“It just sounds like you’re jealous of someone else with powers helping out around here,” Karen said teasingly with a quiet laugh.
“Jealous? I’m not jealous. I just don’t know if we can trust her to do the job right is all,” Matt defended.
“She stopped two crimes in the span of, what? Half an hour last night? It sounds to me like she can handle it,” Karen told him as she stood up from the chair across from his desk and walked to their old beat up coffee machine to get some caffeine for the day.
“Just let it play out a little while longer, bud,” Foggy told Matt with a light pat on the shoulder. “If things start going to shit then you can intervene, but to me it sounds like if she can take care of the smaller petty crime, that opens up more time for you to concentrate on the bigger things that will potentially get us more clients around here.”
“But Fog-” Matt tried.
“Just think about it,” he said. “Not now though because we have an appointment with a client here in a couple minutes.”
next chapter
a/n: okay the reason i slipped in the joke about cosplaying as Westley from The Princess Bride is because last year before i watched Daredevil i went to a comic con (charlie, vincent, rosario, and jon were there im SO sad i wasnt into the show at that point 😭) and i saw someone who i now know was dressed as Matt in the black suit but i thought it was a Princess Bride cosplay whoops lmao

For people with nutritional deficiencies, it is important to do what a doctor, ideally a nutritionist, recommends for them. When you talk to your doctor about your low iron, just say that you would like vegan suggestions, and if you are told to take a supplement, do what is recommended for you (and vegan iron supplements do exist if you need to take a supplement). Doing what is best for your health is more important than what other people think, because they aren't the ones living your life, and no matter what your family says, being vegan can absolutely be healthy, and people aren't necessarily going to be missing nutrients just because they aren't consuming animal products, and sometimes people can have nutritional deficiencies simply because their body doesn't absorb nutrients properly which may have nothing to do with how a person eats.
As for foods that are high in iron, I like vegan chili with kidney beans, dishes made with Soy Curls, and I eat a lot of kale. For some other ideas of ingredients high in iron, look up "Viva! The Vegan Charity" and check the "A-Z Nutrients" for a chart with foods and how much iron is in those foods. Also, having foods high in Vitamin C at the same time as foods high in iron helps iron absorption. Avoiding coffee at the same time as meals is also a good idea, because coffee inhibits iron absorption. To track how much iron you are actually getting each day from food, maybe try making an account on Cronometer. The site has an option to make a free account which works really well for having a clearer idea of what your nutrition is like.
ughhh i know you’re right, i see my doctor for my annual next month so we will see what she says. i just feel like its not my body having issues and its maybe just my diet since the last time i got my iron checked it was okay, and that was also after i stopped eating meat, so i think my diet over the past year or so has just not been enough high iron foods and i wanna try to fix it that way before going on supplements. BUT thank u for the tips i will try to track my iron intake and include more of those high iron foods and see if there is any improvement over the next while, i appreciate your advice! <33

The Other Shoe, Part 17
***
“Ah, no don’t cut through his eye!” Nell exclaimed, leaning over Sam’s shoulder as he held a large chef’s knife poised over a cake. It featured an almost disconcertingly accurate rendition of Deeks’ face in cake form. Below that, bright blue frosting spelled out “We love you, and we’re not kidney-ing about that”.
It was a terrible joke, but Deeks had laughed for a minute straight when Eric had proudly revealed the custom creation.
Not wanting to tempt fate, they had decided to put off any celebrations until after Deeks’ health was more stable, and when he could actually enjoy the food and other festivities. Normally, he would have been embarrassed by all the attention, especially the cake, and little tokens with his face someone (his money was on either Nell or Callen) had hidden throughout the house. This time, he knew they all needed it, so he didn’t mind that much.
“It’s a cake, Nell. I gotta cut it somewhere,” Sam pointed out patiently as Nell, now joined by Rountree gave suggestions.
“Just avoid anything important.”
Deeks shook his head, content to sit back and watch as Nell and Sam bickered over whether it was worse to cut into Cake Deeks’ eyes or mouth. Fatima was in favor of cutting into the hair first.
Eventually, they each ended up with a slice and ice cream (Deeks decided to skip the ice cream in deference to his new kidney) and migrated out onto his and Kensi’s patio with their dessert and drinks.
“So, when you gonna come to the gym with me?” Sam asked Deeks, poking him in the bicep with his spoon. “Gotta get you in fighting shape again.”
“Let’s not rush anything. I’m not entirely comfortable with the number of push-up and crunches he’s doing as it is. He doesn’t need any encouragement,” Kensi protested.
“And this guy ran a 5K the week after the surgery,” Callen revealed without a hint of remorse.
Kensi sighed in mock disappointment. “We have to keep our eyes on them all the time.”
“You two are cute,” Sam said with a sarcastic smile. “So, what do you say Deeks? You and me at the gym, Monday morning at 5:30. It’ll be like old times.”
“I don’t know if I’m ready for that just yet.” Deeks chuckled, shaking his head. “I’m probably weaker than when you met me at that MMA gym.”
“I’ll be gentle. At first.”
“Moving on,” Kensi said firmly. “What’s next for you guys, Eric, Nell?”
“We’ll be leaving for Tokyo on Monday,” Eric answered. “I wish we could stay longer, but we really do need to get back. Our second in command is doing an amazing job, but he’s ready to not be in charge again.”
“We’re going to miss you so much,” Fatima said.
“And next time let’s not wait until there’s a catastrophe,” Kensi added.
“Yeah, cause I don’t think I have another organ to lose,” Deeks joked, and Kensi nudged him in the side with her elbow.
“Too soon, babe.”
“You think I’m adorable.” She managed to glare at him for approximately two more seconds before she gave in, kissing the tip of his nose.
They continued talking, reminiscing about past cases, and embarrassing moments well into the night. By popular demand, Sam and Deeks took turns recounting their MMA match, with frequent interjections from Kensi, Eric, and Callen.
When Deeks noticed a cycled of yawning start, he caught Kensi’s eye, and they stood up together. Nell eyes them curiously, but didn’t shift from where she lounged on the loveseat next to Eric.
Deeks cleared his throat, feeling unusually self-conscious. Kensi wrapped her arm around his waist, silently supporting him. “Um, while we had everybody together again, I just wanted to say a few words. I,” he glanced down at Kensi, who nodded, squeezing even tighter. “We can’t tell you how much we appreciate and value your support, your time, the well-meant nagging—” there was a round of chuckles—”your sacrifice through all of this. I never would have been able to do this without you. I love you all so much.”
“We love you too!” Nell called out, hopping up to hug them. “I think everyone on this patio agrees that we’d do it all again a hundred times if necessary.”
“Definitely,” Callen agreed, completely serious for once.
“Anything for family,” Sam added, lifting his beer.
“To family.”
As everyone echoed the sentiment, Deeks look around at the mismatched group of people who had shown up to support him and Kensi more than he could ever have imagined. He had the best family.
***
A/N: I think we have just an epilogue after this. I hope you’re enjoying the fluff and family bonding after all the angst.

Comprehensive Guide to Urine Sample Test at H.R. Diagnostic
Tumblr media
The Importance of Urine Sample Test for Your Health
A urine sample test is a simple yet vital diagnostic tool. It helps detect various health conditions, ranging from kidney disease to diabetes. At H.R. Diagnostic, we offer comprehensive urine tests to ensure your well-being. But why exactly is this test so important? Let’s dive into the details.
What is a Urine Sample Test?
A urine sample test analyzes your urine for various substances. These include proteins, sugars, ketones, and bacteria. Through this analysis, doctors can diagnose a wide range of medical conditions. This test is non-invasive, quick, and highly effective.
Urine tests are often part of routine checkups. However, they are also crucial when you experience specific symptoms like pain during urination or unexplained fatigue. Therefore, understanding what the test entails and how it helps can give you peace of mind.
Why Should You Get a Urine Sample Test?
Urine tests can reveal early signs of serious diseases. For instance, kidney disease often shows up in urine before any other symptoms appear. This early detection allows for prompt treatment, potentially saving you from severe complications later on.
Moreover, urine tests can monitor ongoing medical conditions. If you're diabetic or have high blood pressure, your doctor might recommend regular urine tests. These tests help track your condition and adjust treatments as necessary.
At H.R. Diagnostic, we understand that health is a priority. That's why we recommend regular urine tests as part of your health routine. We make sure your results are accurate and provide a clear picture of your health.
How Does a Urine Sample Test Work?
The process of a urine sample test is straightforward. First, you collect a small amount of urine in a sterile container. Next, this sample is analyzed in a lab. The lab looks for abnormal substances like high levels of sugar or protein, which could indicate underlying health issues.
However, not all urine tests are the same. There are different types of tests depending on what your doctor is looking for. Some common types include:
Dipstick Test: This is a quick test where a stick coated with chemicals is dipped into your urine. It changes color if certain substances are present.
Microscopic Examination: Here, your urine is examined under a microscope to check for things like bacteria or cells.
Culture Test: This test looks for bacteria or fungi that could be causing an infection.
At H.R. Diagnostic, our expert team ensures that your urine test is conducted with precision. We also explain your results clearly so you can understand what they mean for your health.
What Can a Urine Sample Test Detect?
Urine tests can detect a variety of conditions. Here are some common ones:
Kidney Disease: High levels of protein in urine can indicate kidney problems.
Diabetes: Sugar in your urine could be a sign of diabetes.
Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Bacteria in urine often point to a UTI.
Liver Problems: Bilirubin, a substance found in urine, can suggest liver issues.
Dehydration: Concentrated urine can be a sign that you need more fluids.
These tests are essential for diagnosing and monitoring health issues. Therefore, they should not be ignored.
How to Prepare for a Urine Sample Test
Preparation for a urine test is generally simple. However, a few tips can help ensure accurate results:
Stay Hydrated: Drink water before the test, but don't overdo it. Excessive water can dilute your urine and affect the results.
Avoid Certain Foods: Foods like beets and berries can change the color of your urine, which might confuse the test results. Try to avoid them the day before your test.
Inform Your Doctor About Medications: Some medications can interfere with test results. Therefore, make sure to inform your doctor about any drugs you're taking.
By following these guidelines, you can ensure your test results are as accurate as possible.
What Happens After the Urine Sample Test?
Once the test is done, the lab processes your sample, and the results are sent to your doctor. If your test detects any abnormalities, your doctor will discuss the next steps with you. This might involve additional tests or treatments.
At H.R. Diagnostic, we prioritize your health. Therefore, we ensure that all test results are delivered promptly. Moreover, our team is always available to discuss your results and answer any questions you may have.

When Should You Get a Urine Sample Test?
You don’t have to wait until you’re sick to get a urine test. Regular health checkups often include urine tests as part of a comprehensive assessment. This is especially important if you have risk factors like high blood pressure, diabetes, or a family history of kidney disease.
However, if you experience any of the following symptoms, it’s essential to get a urine test immediately:
Frequent Urination: This could be a sign of diabetes or a UTI.
Painful Urination: This might indicate an infection or another underlying issue.
Unusual Color or Smell: This can sometimes signal dehydration or liver problems.
At H.R. Diagnostic, we offer urine tests as part of our health checkup packages. Therefore, you can easily include this test in your regular health routine.
Tips for Maintaining Urinary Health
While urine tests are crucial, maintaining good urinary health is equally important. Here are some tips to keep your urinary system healthy:
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your kidneys functioning properly.
Practice Good Hygiene: This can help prevent infections, particularly UTIs.
Limit Salt Intake: Excessive salt can strain your kidneys.
Eat a Balanced Diet: A healthy diet supports overall kidney health.
By following these tips, you can reduce your risk of urinary issues and ensure that your urine tests remain normal.
Common Misconceptions About Urine Sample Tests
Despite their importance, there are many misconceptions about urine tests. Let’s clear up a few:
Myth 1: Urine tests are only for kidney problems. Urine tests can detect a wide range of conditions, not just kidney issues. They’re useful for everything from diabetes to liver problems.
Myth 2: You don’t need a urine test if you feel fine. Many conditions show no symptoms in their early stages. Regular urine tests can catch these issues before they become serious.
Myth 3: Urine tests are always accurate. While urine tests are reliable, they aren’t perfect. Certain factors, like dehydration or medications, can affect the results. Therefore, it’s essential to follow preparation guidelines.
Conclusion: Prioritize Your Health with Regular Urine Sample Tests
A urine sample test is a simple yet powerful tool for maintaining your health. At H.R. Diagnostic, we are committed to providing top-quality urine tests that give you a clear understanding of your health status.

General Tips for people with EDs
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Water :
We absolutely must drink water to survive, and it has zero calories, so there's no excuse to not drink it. As we typically get much of our water content through foods, when we reduce food intake we begin to dehydrate ourselves, which is dangerous. Also, cold water chills the body and may raise metabolism to get warm again.
Reasons to drink water:
It lubricates the joints
It forms saliva and mucus
If delivers oxygen throughout your entire body
It boosts skin health and beauty
It cushions the brain, spinal cord, and other sensitive tissue
It regulates body temperature
Your digestive system depends on it
It flushes body waste
It maintains your blood pressure
Your airways need it
Prevents kidney damage
Weight loss
Finally, it reduces the chance of a hungover
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Vitamins and Minerals:
We must have these, too, to survive and so again there is no excuse to not take at least a basic daily multivitamin (which may help reduce some cravings as well). Vitamins are vital in keeping our bodies functioning and our skin / hair / teeth nice. Particularly be aware of electrolytes (potassium, magnesium, salt, along with water balance) and calcium.
Reasons to take to help with weightloss....
Vitamin C: it has been proven that people with low vitamin C status tend to burn less fat when exercising
Vitamin B12: Faster metabolism
Omega 3: Increases fat breakdown, decreases muscle inflammation, large amounts are usually taken by big time athletes
Ashwagandha: Increases muscle mass which results in a faster metabolism, improves sleeping patterns(Lack of sleep = High blood sugar = weight gain)
Vitamin B2: Helps your body break down fats, carbs, and proteins
Fenugreek: it’s an herb that works as an appetite supressant, just be careful with it and do research
Vitamin D: Helps with hairloss, dry skin, and depression
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Protein:
Protein is necessary, particularly if you're exercising. It maintains and repairs our muscles, including heart muscle, which is (last I heard) kind of a requisite for continued survival.
Reduces appetite and hunger levels
Increases muscle mass and strength
Good for your bones
Reduces cravings and late night binging
Boosts metabolism and increases fat burning
Lowers blood pressure
Helps maintain weight loss
Helps your body repair itself after injury
Helps you stay fit as you age
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Fat Intake:
Fat has, per gram, more calories than any other source of energy and is stored more easily. Switch to low fat everything, then progress to nonfat. Nonfat food tends to taste like crap (in my opinion) and you may end up eating less because of that.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Caffeine:
While caffeine can be an appetite suppressant and can increase your metabolism, it will also act as a diuretic. Drink a glass of water for each cup of tea, coffee, or diet soda you have. Again, dehydration is a potentially serious problem.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Tips:
Always read labels to avoid nasty surprises. This happens to me all the time and makes for some panicky stress-moments. Also, look up food charts and be aware of the caloric / nutritional content of everything you eat.
Understand yourself. Learn what you need, and when, and why. Everyone is unique and there are no hard-and-fast universally applicable laws. Our bodies are very good at telling us what we need, and knowing what you need gives control over how you choose to satisfy those needs.
Find your binge triggers, be they food or places or people or feelings. Avoid them at all costs. Figure out more acceptable ways of dealing with those triggers than stuffing yourself silly.
Learn when you tend to eat and why you eat then in particular. Plan to be doing something unrelated to food at those times. Many of us find night to be the hardest time to avoid food.
Get plenty of sleep. Steal naps whenever you can and rest when you need to rest. Sleep deprivation increases appetite and makes you age faster.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The end! Thank you for reading <3
