The idea that uni protesters are "elitist ivy-league rich kids larping as revolutionaries" on Twitter and Reddit and even here is so fucking funny to me if you actually know anything about the student bodies at these unis. Take it from someone who's going to one of the biggest private unis in the US, 80% of the peers I know are either from the suburbs or an apartment somewhere in America, children of immigrants, or here on a student visa. I've heard about one-percenter students, but I've never met one in person. Like, don't get me wrong, the institution as a whole is still very privileged and white. I've talked with friends and classmates about feeling weird or dissonant being here and coming from such a different background. But in my art program, I see BIPOC, disabled, queer, lower-income students and faculty trying to deconstruct and tear that down and make space every day. So to take a cursory glance at a crowd of student protesters in coalitions that are led by BIPOC & 1st/2nd-gen immigrant students and HQ'd in ethnic housings and student organizations and say, "ah. children of the elite." Get real.

CBS Ghosts is my new guilty pleasure so take my new OCs. The Blanchet family were distant French cousins of the Woodstones who visited the house in the early 1900s, only for a violent house robbery to take the life of their youngest daughter, Mercedes, and her loyal self appointed guard dog, Horse. Only 8 years old, it takes some time for Mercedes to understand her fate, and for some time she’d be very distressed that her family seem to be ignoring her. On the bright side, the other ghosts are there to try and make things easier, though the misfit collective have a hard time caring for a child given their circumstances, and conflicting ideas on how best to raise a little girl.

Of all the ghosts, she is closest with Thorfinn. He has a soft spot for the little girl.

keep in mind that i haven’t actually read the manga, only watched three seasons or so (and it was . a WHILE ago) so it’s not like i have the best understanding of his character yet — but i firmly believe people with daddy issues have a bond that transcends media so i know him perfectly actually . the todoroki family is so so precious to me …….

anyway . i think this scenario could go a couple ways really (depending on the au, etc) but i picture you and touya being pretty young when you meet, maybe middle schoolers? something like that . the point is that you’re both young, both very isolated, and both bond over the abusive households you grew up in. it’s an unspoken understanding that makes you feel connected to one another, a little more safe. so it’s basically like a stray cat/stray cat dynamic :3 maybe you end up running away together. boarding a train after the abuse reaches a boiling point.

i think touya is fiercely, violently protective over you. especially after leaving your homes (with no younger siblings to take care of anymore, he directs all of his protective urges towards you)…. and you’re just as protective over him. i think the relationship itself would be an extreme slowburn, but he falls in love with you a long while before that. you’re the center of the life he’s living (he’s abnormal about you basically)

eridan is a nb trans man/gnc trans man (he/him only) who is aspec and panromantic. sollux is a binary trans man (he/him only, but mentally categorizes it as blue he/him and red he/him for fun) who is demisexual and biromantic. both of them are two sides of the same coin with their slightly different approaches to their similar identities.

the other trolls tend to lean towards pronouncing the "sol" in sollux's name the same as the word "soul"; eridan pronounces "sol" like "saul", and sollux cant help but notice that it makes eridans nickname for him sound a little warmer. (this inadvertently makes room for "better call sol" jokes now that i think about the erisol phone motif lmfao)

eridan is the one who tends to get feelings first; its a slow build up where he just realizes the feeling is THERE one day. sollux gets feelings second; its "falling" in the sense that its like his heart has been pushed down some goddamn stairs lmfao

A question did you plot your Taryn X ghost fic aka outline it or just wrote it and let the story come to you?

I'm a methodological pantser (thanks ellen brock for helping me realize my writing process is not crazy ✨) so I started with a very loose idea of: (1) where I wanted the characters to start, (2) where I wanted them to end, and (3) big developments that needed to happen along the way. all the little details came together in the process of writing, revising, re-outlining, restructuring, then rewriting. that might sound wild haha but it's just how my brain works—so yes I had a plan, but my outline was very bare bones to begin with & became more fleshed out as I wrote!
