Today is the one year anniversary of the day after the swarm tour ended, which also makes it the one year anniversary of this blog. For the most part, there are no more scheduled posts in the queue.

A couple of dates had already passed by the time I could verify them - I will schedule these as they come up, as well as making posts for anything new I find, updates/corrections to existing posts, and new events or releases. My inbox will stay open for any requests for dates to be added, as well as any corrections or sources to be added (thank you to the people who have sent these through in the past!). I'm not currently planning on scheduling reblogs of existing posts for future anniversaries, but I'm open to it if enough people would like that :)

I'm going to get a bit sappy now, so this last bit is really optional reading material. I truly wasn't expecting this blog to be anything more than some silly fun when I made it, but reading through people's memories of shows, releases and announcements in the tags has been more touching and meaningful than I expected. My Chemical Romance is a band, but like most things worth caring about My Chemical Romance is also an idea built out of human connection and shared experiences. The swarm era would never have meant as much as it did without every person who reached out a hand to share a piece of what MCR means to them, through their tags or art or jokes or song covers or archives or webweaves or 3am liveblogs of 12 pixel instagram livestreams. Thank you for being here with me, and for making something beautiful. 🖤

On this day, March 26

In 2023: My Chemical Romance performed their 70th show of the 2022-2023 Swarm tour at Punkspring in Osaka, Japan. This show was the last show of the Oceania-Asia leg as well as the overall last show of the Swarm tour. At this show, an unreleased song (titled "Eagles" on the paper setlist) was performed for the 13th time ever, with new lyrics, and Gerard Way wore a dark grey skirt suit with white scleral contacts and fake blood. The drum was a blank mirrored surface for the majority of the show, with "ENDLESS NIGHT" written on it before the encore. (🖤)

In 2023: My Chemical Romance performed their 69th show of the 2022-2023 Swarm tour at Punkspring in Tokyo, Japan. At this show, Gerard Way wore a dark grey skirt suit with white scleral contact lenses and fake blood dripping from the side of his head, and "GEMINI" was written on the drums. (🖤)

In 2014: My Chemical Romance released a greatest hits compilation album titled "May Death Never Stop You". This album contained the single "Fake Your Death", a selection of tracks from all four of their previously released studio albums, as well as three previously unreleased demos: "Skylines and Turnstiles (demo version)", "Cubicles (demo version)" and "Knives/Sorrows (demo version of "Our Lady of Sorrows". In 2013: My Chemical Romance announced the breakup of the band, posting the following statement on their website:

"Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing. We've gotten to go places we never knew we would. We've been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We've shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure. My Chemical Romance"

In 2006: My Chemical Romance released the live album "Life on the Murder Scene", including two DVDs and one CD. The first DVD contained a video diary documenting the bands origin and growth, the second DVD contained live performances and behind the scenes videos. The CD contained live recordings of selected songs from their first and second studio albums, "I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love" and "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge". It also contained a demo version of "I Never Told You What I Do for a Living" and "Bury Me in Black", as well as the previously unreleased "Desert Song". (🖤)
