my personal two all-time favourites are live from new york by varnes (saturday night live au) and all the shine of a thousand spotlights by doodlebutt (figure skating au) because i'm a funny lan wangji truther and also a known wx figure skaters truther.

i'm also always coming back to your heartbeat, across the grass by fakeplasticlily (footballer lwj au), because it has everything: perfect narrative parallels to canon, a-yuan, sports. nothing more you could ask for. (if anyone has any favourite wx sports aus please rec for ME because they are my LIFEBLOOD)

become tomorrow by shanastoryteller is brilliant, perfect, amazing, i deserve a million more fics featuring wwx as baoshan sanren's disciple. that writer in general is pretty great, lynchpin (jiang cheng pov time travel fix-it au) is a legendary wangxian longfic and is probably my favourite.

last one i'll say is saw my life in a stranger's face by timetoboldlygo (post-canon wwx slowly gaining his original body back), because i'm obsessed with that concept and this writer executes it the best out of everything i've ever read.

Okay, I've been seeing some ice skating AU's around lately and it inspired me to write something. Fair warning: it's not madam Yu friendly and mostly exposition and little dialogue. LWJ POV.

"Why don't you skate anymore?" Lan Wangji finally asked, three months after Wei Ying had finally returned to his life. Honestly, the words have been begging to be released as soon as Lan Wangji set eyes on Wei Ying again.

The other had disappeared four years ago, just before the final of the Junior Olympics for ice skating. It was a shock to everyone involved, the brilliant and charming skater that was a shoe in for getting gold, his performances always bringing emotional reactions out of his audience.

Lan Wangji can still remember when he performed a song called "In the mountains" a song about longing and remembrance of a love in the POV of a grieving man. It was supposedly composed by an ancestor of Lan Wangji's actually, which is how Wei Ying heard it the first time.

The movements and expressions Wei Ying was able to bring out on the ice would forever be stuck in Lan Wangji's mind. It's one of Wei Ying's best performances, according to both Lan Wangji and the internet.

But two days before the final of the juniors, Wei Ying pulled out. Nobody knew until the next day, when everyone got a message informing them of the change.

Lan Wangji remembers rushing to Wei Ying's hotel room, confusion and worry warring in his heart. It didn't matter how long he knocked on that door, Wei Ying never answered. He only learned later, after running down to the lobby to the reception, that Wei Ying had already left early the night before.

For four years, Lan Wangji had been searching for him, trying to figure out just why Wei Ying left. But all he had to go on was an angry Jiang Cheng and an unfamiliar stone faced Jiang Yanli. Neither would spill the answer.

Even his number had changed, and no matter how often Lan Wangji emailed him, he never replied.

Wei Ying completely disappeared from the world, taking Lan Wangji's heart right with him. So seeing him again, on that sunny Wednesday afternoon, looking healthy and happy, was both a relief and a hit to his heart.

Mostly though, Lan Wangji was just happy to have him back in his life. Yet the thought always remained, just what happened?

Wei Ying hummed, looking over the horizon, watching birds sail in and out of view.

They were currently at the top viewpoint of a mountain after hiking for nearly three hours. It was pretty empty, only a few people around, quiet and peaceful.

It was something they used to do together, in the off season. Neither of their families loved the idea of them risking a twisted ankle just to watch the sunrise. But they both enjoyed it too much to actually stop, even when Wei Ying left, Lan Wangji would find himself going on hikes.

Watching Wei Ying right now, Lan Wangji realized he didn't need to know, if Wei Ying wanted him to, he would tell him.

But just as he was about to apologize and retract his question, Wei Ying answered.

He spoke of his time with the Jiāngs, he told of how fierce and strict Madam Yu was during training, he let Lan Wangji in on the fact that Madam Yu rarely let him rest, made him train for hours and hours, pushing his body to the limit every time.

Until one night, Wei Ying's body finally had enough. Apparently, Wei Ying had been attempting a quad when his ankles gave out on the landing and he tripped, slamming his head into the ice.

He ended up going to the hospital, getting ten stitches and told in no uncertain terms, that he couldn't skate for at least a month. And even that was pushing it, according to his doctor.

Madam Yu was pissed. But Wei Ying later found out, she had been training Jiang Cheng to take over Wei Ying's choreography without telling either of them. As soon as she was able, she threw out his contract and told him he had to leave since he couldn't perform as his contract states he had to do in order to keep his place there, so he left.

It was a loophole Wei Ying had been unaware of, and one she utilized to its fullest. Jiang Yanli had not been pleased, according to Wei Ying, she had made a big fuss, arguing day and night with her mother, even Jiang Cheng tried to talk her out of it.

Lan Wangji couldn't believe the woman.

Taking advantage of a serious injury to throw out a teenager she didn't like. And the fact that the rest of the Jiāngs couldn't do anything about it because she was the major shareholder in the company –

It was despicable.

"She took my phone and canceled my room at the hotel. I didn't even need to pack since she hired people to do it, then took it out of my paycheck. She told me I wasn't allowed back at Lotus Pier or to see her children. She threatened to draw up a restraining order if I didn't listen. So I took what I could and left. I stayed with the Wen's for a few months, before getting a job as a tutor for music, then science too. Actually, I started volunteering as a substitute at a local elementary school."

Lan Wangji could just imagine how those lessons went. Wei Ying always had a way with kids that made Lan Wangji's heart race. He remembers catching Wei Ying helping out the younger skaters who would do homework in the waiting rooms, and the laughter and cries of gratitude that sounded afterwards.

Wei Ying shrugged "Honestly, I think I'm grateful it happened, not the way it did, and I definitely regret how I left everyone, you, with no explanation, but it gave me a chance to get myself together. To find out what I really want in life."

"And what's that?" Lan Wangji asked.

Wei Ying turned to look at him, the setting sun causing his face to glow, eyes bright and smile wide, he said, "This."

And then he kissed him.

later, when lxc gives him his latest batch of fanmail and a summary of the crowd reaction from his last program, new and old fans of fs talking about how his genuine love for fs made them fall in love with him and fs too -- lwj gets it now.

as for wwx, he's incredibly charmed having someone who not only /lets/ him ramble about his niche discoveries, but also genuinely listens enough to ask thoughtful questions, that in turn inspire him with new points of view of looking at things.

and when said someone is Particularly Beautiful Beautiful man, who isn't shy at all about giving him sincere verbal affirmations... well, it just really isn't good for his heart, but he can't stop coming back for more.

and then of course, as in bunnxianluvsu's thread (which started this whole shebang for me), there's the hilarity of wwx's friends and family belatedly realizing wwx's shiny new boyfriend is THE lan wangji of the figure skating world...

wwx: which they should! cuz lwj is truly the best--! jc: god someone please get them to STOP nmj passing money to lxc: that was cheating, you practically goaded your brother; we could've at least gotten through dessert before he got started lxc: whatever you say a-jue

wangxian had been dating for a year and living together for 6 mos. of that before wwx finally realizes just what his boyfriend does for a living. and no, it wasn't when he found lwj's olympic gold medal while wwx was rooting through lwj's sock drawer for something or other.

it takes wwx 5 mins of ogling his boyfriend all made up, so handsome, In A Suit, before he processes the headline: NATION'S REPRESENTATIVE OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST LWJ PREPARING FOR WINTER GAMES

(which, he knew lwj was leaving for work related to the olympics, but he didn't know it was AS A COMPETITOR - AND AS THE DEFENDING CHAMPION AT THAT!??!!?!?!!??!?!? LIKE, LAN ZHAN IS AMAZING WBK, BUT?!??!?!?!? HE'S DATING AN OLYMPIAN????? LAN ZHAN????????)

and Then, someone asks about lwj's new program. "i cannot say much detail, but i have been very inspired lately by cosmology - my partner has taught me a lot about matter and anti-matter, the various theories, and the wonder of its mystery. i dedicate my free skate to him."

wwx, in his boxers and one of lwj's older shirts, sitting in their shared living room with his red face in his hands: "y..yaep. yaeh... that's my lan zhan...lan zhannnnn"

and it's not like wwx is dense or dumb. he just has very niche interests and a near-obsessive, singular focus on these very niche and choice interests. but he does know how to put 2 and 2 together, very quickly when he notices them.

5 mos ago when lwj kept asking him about his last panel on anti-matter theories. the kids' idolization of lwj. the rigorous training lwj goes through. the couple of competitions lwj had left for a few days at a time (he'd thought as a coach!).

and knowing lwj, it's not so much as him actively keeping it from him, but rather that lwj rlly isn't one to talk about his achievements, fame and status. "gusu lan won again" probably meant /lwj/ won again. and wwx just replied with "oh yea? that's nice, as expected of my lz"

on the spot, wwx makes a few calls to his department (who is relieved and more than a little surprised that wwx finally decided to spend his vacation leaves) and his research assistants. he sends vicious messages to his siblings (YOU GUYS KNEW?!? HOW CLD YOU NOT TELL MEEEE?!?!?"

and then he fixes himself up and waits for lwj to come home.

lwj comes home, mentally exhausted as most media days always tend to leave him. except this time, there's a little more relief to coming home, because he knows wei ying will be waiting for him there.

wwx is not waiting for him there. or well, he's not waiting barefoot in the kitchen like he'd promised to this morning.

instead, wwx is staring up at the lwj skating his short program for sochi 2014 with the same starry-eyed, slack-jawed expression he wore when lwj did a tiny double toe loop at the public park on their first date.

(he'd been immediately scolded by the guard but that same expression on wwx's face had been worth it) lwj feels his ears heat up, though most of his embarrassment is taken over by slight trepidation.

he'd known from the moment they met that wwx had no interest or much knowledge about figure skating - he barely even knew how to skate. and though lwj never really talked about his career, he /has/ mentioned it to wwx, who seemed to have taken it in stride...

on screen, lwj's short program comes to a close, the camera focusing on the overwhelmed tears lwj had thought he'd managed to completely hide. wwx sniffles a little and lwj offers him his handkerchief. "wei ying...? are you oka--"

wwx jumps a foot of the couch with a screech. "LAN ZHAN!" lwj flinches a little. "YOU SCARED ME!! SINCE WHEN DID YOU COME BACK?!?!"

"just a few minutes..." truthfully, lwj's starting to feel a little miffed, the stress of the day catching up with him, and not a single hug or kiss from wwx in sight. "--ah, no, that's not it," wwx groans into his hands.

"aiyaa i lost track of time, this wasn't how it was supposed to go." wwx laments before launching himself out of the couch, wrapping arms and legs around lwj.

lwj inwardly thanks his core training for keeping him steady, and letting him enjoy having wwx in his arms.

instantly, all the tension eases from his shoulders and disappears completely when wwx pulls away to kiss him deep and slow.

"lan zhan, i missed you so much." wwx says in between pecks all over lwj's face. lwj hums in agreement. it truly was a long day.

"poor you," wwx says, rubbing circles at his temple and beneath his eyes. lwj barely resists the urge to purr. "were the press people mean to you?"

"not any more difficult than usual." lwj says, depositing the both of them on the couch.

then lwj pauses, wondering if he'd mentioned to wwx that today was indeed a press day...

"well, you know who's been mean to me?" wwx pulls away. "my whole family and friends, and even my own boyfriend!"

wwx pokes at his chest before lwj can even get a word in. "that's right, even my own boyfriend!"

"i--"

"why didn't you tell me you were famous?!?" wwx grasps him by the shirt and shakes him, wailing, "ALL THIS TIME I'VE BEEN DATING A CELEBRITY!!!"

"i am not--"

"lan zhaaan, you get featured on TV and lots of people know you, and you've got people idolizing you!"

"wei ying is the same." wwx gives him an unimpressed look. "that's not the same, and you know it. i'm not the one breaking world records every competition!"

"i do not break world records every competition." lwj replies dryly.

"lan zhaaan, that's not the point!" wwx kicks his legs in the air. "my boyfriend turns out to be a very important person and i didn't even know about it - i haven't been treating you right at all!"

"in what ways has wei ying not treated me right?" lwj tugs wwx closer by the wrists. "have you ever harmed or abused me in any way? have you ever treated me unkindly or with disrespect?"

"of course not, but that's basic human decency!" wwx says. "i should've been spoiling you!"

"and am i not spoiled with wei ying's affection every day?" lwj asks. wwx pouts. "the only way i want to be treated is as wei ying's partner - not as a celebrity or someone to worship - but as wei ying's equal."

"aiyaa, what have i said about those words of yours! have mercy on my poor heart." wwx whines, before kissing him again, and lwj knows he's won.

"i still think you deserve better..."

"i could say the same to wei ying." lwj says.

"my boyfriend is also an important figure in his industry, and has contributed greatly, making history with his many accomplishments." lwj says, immensely enjoying the deep flush creeping up wwx's face and neck.

"lan zhaaan, you don't play fair," wwx whines.

“i’m still bummed i had to find out through your press con - by /accident/!” wwx huffs later, after dinner and dessert featuring all of lwj’s favorites, and then Dessert...

“i truly did not mean to keep it from you.” lwj kisses his temple in apology. “i thought you knew.”

"i know," wwx blows a raspberry into lwj's nipple. lwj jolts and he grins with an apology kiss.

"at first, i did enjoy wei ying not knowing about me." lwj admits. "it was...a relief. there was no pressure."

"having all that attention, must be tough on you, huh." wwx laments.

"mm..." lwj hums, and wwx waits.

"but then, when i attended that conference with you, and saw you in your element - i wanted you to see me, too." lwj admits.

"oh, lan zhan," wwx rises so he can look into lwj's eyes. "i want to see you, too. i want to be part of your world, too"

"that's why i'm going with you to the olympics - and every event that puts you on ice, for that matter!" wwx says. "i want to see you doing what you love."

and lwj melts, the lines of his face softening into that rare but beautiful smile wwx loves so much.

"i would love that."

Olympics au where figure skater Jin Zixun is accused of doping but uses Lanling resources to switch the samples and Wei Wuxian takes fall. Wei Wuxian who was a 7 time gold winner, is now forever barred from taking part in the Olympics. He swears innocence but nobody believes him. He loses everything respect, fame, sponsors and even his marriage to Lan Wangji. A couple of years later the truth comes out but by then it's too late. Wei Wuxian is dead. He sees a spike in popularity and public support, but what does it matter to the dead?

Sixteen years later his son Lan Sizhui performs a routine inspired by him and takes gold. With tears in his eyes, Sizhui thinks, "I did it Baba, I hope you're proud of me." All the while ignoring Lans in the audience.

Not gonna lie, this is giving me Corporate Spy AU vibes but in a good way.

MDZS/Untamed modern AU idea

Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji are competing figure skaters, due to compete at the Olympics against one another.

Everyone thinks they’re heated rivals, and there’s definitely heat there—just not the kind people think. They have to hide their relationship for a variety of reasons.

Then the unthinkable happens: Lan Wangji is assaulted on his way to meet Wei Wuxian, by someone who is obsessed with Wei Wuxian and holds a grudge against Lan Wangji for edging him out of qualifications years earlier, Jin Zixun.

Everyone seems to believe Wei Wuxian was behind it, that he lured Lan Wangji out to be assaulted: the Lans, the Jiangs, the media. He’s banned from the sport. By the time the truth comes out, that Jin Zixun acted alone, Wei Wuxian has disappeared, convinced Lan Wangji believes it was him, disowned by the Jiangs, and deeply depressed.

Lan Wangji recovers and skates like a man possessed, but refuses to speak to the media and is frosty toward all, even his relatives.

It takes 13 years for them to find each other again, as scandal again takes center stage at the Olympics with a doping scheme that smells again of the Jins…

(I know nothing about figure skating. But I remember the Nancy Kerrigan attack and subsequent media frenzy from when I was a kid, and the chaos and heartache regarding the poor Russian girl this year made this prompt come to life.)

Sure, they shiver at his presence and flinch from his cold hands, but not one of them puts it together. Lan Wangji chases him with healing music and Nie Mingjue frowns solemnly at his dancing corpses—and he laughs and laughs and laughs because they just don’t get it. in our respective ways by @veliseraptor (T, Sunshot Campaign era, 5.7k): Jiang Cheng has his golden core back. But he seems to have lost Wei Wuxian.

You Know I've Fallen, but I Know How High by villainais (M, Post-WWX's death, 2.7k): Jiang Cheng loses both of his siblings in Nightless City. Minutes apart. He trudges home to Yunmeng with one body, holds a private funeral with a single coffin, and allows himself to wear his mourning robes for ten days—permits himself not a single day more. He is still too young and inexperienced, an unfledged boy to the cultivation world, and he is rebuilding Lotus Pier on his own. He will not gift the other sect leaders the satisfaction of seeing him vulnerable. Propriety be damned. Hanguang-jun emerges from his seclusion wearing white. He does not stop.

Nie Huaisang

it deepens like a coastal shelf by @wolffyluna (M, Post-WWX's death, 21.6k): When Nie Huaisang meets Mo Xuanyu, he realises two things quickly. One, this kid is so doomed. Two, this kid would be a great unwitting spy in his plans to bring down Jin Guangyao. It would be so easy to get into Mo Xuanyu's confidences, and so easy to get him to tell him anything he needs. ...only thing is, that wouldn't be very good for Mo Xuanyu's life expectancy. But he'll do it anyway, if it helps him avenge his brother. A fic about man handing on misery to man, the parallels and cycles in the relationships between Jin Guangyao and Nie Huaisang and Mo Xuanyu, and the lengths these characters will go to meet their goals and if there are lines they won't cross.

won't run away (we're here to stay) by @qi-ling (T, Post-Canon, 3.5k): "Please don't feel any pressure to accept this, and you can take as much time as you need to think about it." It's a set of robes, in shades of deep purple, complete with leather bracers. Cut in a different style than that of the disciples or household staff, closer to the understated robes Wen Ning typically wears. He reaches out to feel the fabric. His deadened nerves can't sense delicate textures well, but even he can tell it's of a quality on par to Wanyin's own wardrobe. This is startling enough coming from Jiang Wanyin, but then Wen Ning notices the belt. In particular, the silver bell in the shape of a lotus affixed to it. Only recognized members of the Jiang sect may wear the clarity bell. Or, Jiang Cheng has an invitation for Wen Ning.

Also missing: Wei Wuxian, brother of the bride, Lan Wangji, esteemed guest, Lan Xichen, esteemed guest, Jin Zixun, cousin of the groom, Jin Guangyao, brother and best-man, Jin Zixuan, THE GROOM, who is due at his bride-to-be's house in six hours. That's plenty of time to find everyone...right?

Ice Skating Olympics AU

I have had another idea. Here we go again.

Wei Wuxian has had Olympic dreams since he was a kid; now that he’s here, it’s not quite what he’d expected. The food is weird, Jiang Cheng’s hockey teammates keep fighting, Jin Zixuan is everywhere because he seems to think that now that Jiang Yanli is pregnant, she’ll just, like, magically explode if left unsupervised. And that all would be tolerable, probably, even with the pressure of performing, except that Wei Ying’s roommate is professional rival and childhood friend, Lan Wangji. And the pressure of having to compete in arguably the most prestigious athletic competition in the world was sort of paling in comparison to the pressure of having to keep a straight face when Lan Zhan takes his shirt off. So, this...is not going like he thought it would. 

Xie Lian never expected to make it this far, honestly. And okay, technically, he’d already been here, eight years ago. But after that spectacular fall, he’d never really expected to skate again, but then...then there was San Lang. And okay, yes, maybe Hua Cheng had something of a reputation, and Mu Qing and Feng Xin kept warning him it was dangerous to skate with him, but when he was on the ice with San Lang, nothing else mattered. He’d never thought he could fly again, but anything was possible with his San Lang. And if they happened to win gold, well, that was just a bonus. 

Wen Kexing is a menace to society; Zhou Zishu had always thought so. And now, he could be a menace to a global society, and he seemed to be taking that as something of a challenge. Yes, despite their infamous rivalry in their professional careers, Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing had been selected as co-captains for the national team at the Olympics. So Zhou Zishu was going to be professional, and collected, and was definitely not going to punch that cocky bastard right in his pretty face. After all, they’d go back to being rivals after the Olympics were done; Zhou Zishu just had to make it through the next few weeks without physically assaulting (or making out with) his co-captain. It might be harder than you’d think.

Featuring: retired figure skating pair Jin Zixuan and Jiang Yanli, now married with a baby on the way; up-and-coming figure skating hopeful Cao Weining; Wen Qing and Wen Ning as emergency medics who are a little too familiar with the hockey team; paired skaters with arguably too much history He Xuan and Shi Qingxuan; figure skater Liu Qianqiao being coached by verifiable legend Luo Fumeng; Ye Baiyi was the most put-upon hockey coach the Olympics have ever seen; Mu Qing and Feng Xin disgusting the entire hockey team with their favourite form of foreplay: verbal evisceration; Meng Yao and Lan Xichen as speed skaters; an unfortunate hockey roster consisting of Jiang Cheng, Nie Mingjue, Mu Qing, Feng Xin, Pei Ming, Qi Rong, Duan Pengju, Jin Zixun, and the world’s most beleaguered second-in-command in the form of poor, poor Han Ying. 

And there’s a bunch more that I can’t talk about for fear of this post going on forever. 

(Bearing in mind that I know next to nothing about how any of this works, it seems like it might be a fun mash-up? We’ll see how it goes!)

Really wondering whether the Untamed fandom has produced a WangXian Yuri on Ice adaptation yet, given how uncannily well the principals map onto that story

Lan Wangji as the reigning champion of the figure skater world, having reached the pinnacle of his field and nowhere to go from there, battling depression as the emptiness of his life outside of his work consumes him! Wei Wuxian as the up and coming skater who idolizes him, quickly coming to be known as the villain of the skating world for seducing their champion away from them!

(not that Wei Wuxian understands why  his idol and crush has abandoned his career to come be his trainer, since he’s completely forgotten that night he got wildly drunk at the post-championship reception and did a pole dance in front of LWJ’s disbelieving eyes)

the untamed + ice hockey

yes I have given this AU too much thought

we love crossover hyperfixations! also this got...longer than intended, so I put most of it under the cut.

the twin jades are both defensemen. they are very good defensemen. they are incredibly frustrating to play against both because you simply will not get the puck past them, but also because they’re going to be freakily calm the whole time about it

jiang cheng is a centre; yu ziyuan is a coach so he’s been under a Lot of pressure from day 1. wei wuxian is usually a winger on his line and to everyone’s frustration but his own usually outplays jiang cheng

BUT they show up to lan qiren’s training camp and he takes one look at wei wuxian and says ‘nope you’re playing defense’

wei wuxian is very unhappy about this

he’s a forward! he wants to score goals! 

sure d-men get the chance to but it’s not the same

and lan qiren is putting him on the second line with lan wangji? why’s he splitting up the twin jades? what is going on 

jin guangyao is what’s going on

he originally trained as a figure skater but has ended up on a hockey team and he’s extremely fast and very clever on the ice

lan qiren watches jin guangyao and lan xichen in a warmup drill and then sees that over on the other side of the ice lan wangji is suffering through wei wuxian’s over-enthusiastic introduction in silence. hm, lan qiren thinks. there is something to be done here. 

the twin jades are incredible together; but if he can two pairings with impeccable chemistry then the team is gonna be unstoppable

lan xichen and jin guangyao are delighted to be together! this is gonna be great

lan wangji and wei wuxian? both gutted. lwj is convinced that he must have done something to incur lan qiren’s wrath because why else would be he stuck with an insufferable forward who thinks that playing defense is for “losers and virgins, and therefore I don’t qualify on either count”

wei wuxian, meanwhile, is on the verge of pretending that he can’t actually skate backwards

initially when they start playing together it’s awkward. wwx keeps forgetting he's meant to be prioritising his own zone and wants to camp out by the other team’s net. the real problem is that he doesn’t think he’s meant to play defense permanently - he also thinks this is a punishment, intended to Teach Him A Valuable Lesson, and therefore instinctively baulks at it

when the season actually starts and lan qiren makes zero changes to the lineup, wwx realises in a panic that this is actually what’s happening now. he’s playing defense. fuck, he needs to get good at defense.

by this point lan wangji has zero interest in warming to his partner; he misses playing with his brother and is intensely jealous of how easily lan xichen and jin guangyao are getting along

however, wei wuxian has set himself the challenge of being a good defensemen and it’s getting harder to hate him when it’s clear that he’s putting the work in and even harder to hate him when they actually start playing well together 

The dynamic is a little bit like Dex + Nursey - lwj anticipates that wwx is about to do something stupid and is ready to fix it; wwx knows he can do something stupid because lwj will be there if it goes tits up

lan wangji is slowly realising, to his surprise, that wei wuxian is a great teammate when he gives a shit 

lan qiren still finds wei wuxian immensely annoying but is pleased that his experiment is paying off

what about everyone else?

WEN NING IS THE GOALIE

i have never been more certain of anything than I have of that. good coordination? check. impossible to hate? check. kinda weird? check. wen ning is perfect goalie material

i have no idea how ‘ghost general’ could become his hockey nickname but it absolutely does

moving on

i have not forgotten about bitch boy jiang cheng

he has,, A Lot to prove when he shows up at the training camp. and he is good! he’s not incredible, but he’s good and he cares more than just about anyone else on the ice

lan qiren tries him on nie mingjue’s wing on the top line but that doesn’t go very well. the pressure is a bit much for jc and he’s never suited being a winger anyway

he ends up being on the second line with jin zixuan. no one is quite sure how much of their rivalry they’re joking about and how much is serious but their constant competition in wanting to get more points than the other has only produced good results

yu ziyuan is initially frustrated that he’s on the second line but when she sees him play, she’s able to accept that he’s performing better than he has before

wen qing and luo qingyang are rivals on their respective women’s hockey teams. they’re also dating. 

jiang yanli and nie huaisang both played hockey as kids but lost interest in their teens, preferring to take management/organisational roles. 

this is a fairly random hc to tack onto the end of this but one time wwx catches nmj snorting protein powder.
