caught up in the patterns by @vannral - post top gun with alive goose, pretty heart breaking for a while but the dialogue is honestly my FAV it really lightens the fic whilst simultaneously tugging your heart strings

flat spin, heading out to sea by @saengak - okay so this fic takes place from the beginning of top gun, but if you want a fic that makes some pretty heavy commentary on society and classism, this is it. it was one of the first big fics i started reading in top gun and i waited every monday morning for it like clockwork.

Keys to unlock a puzzle box locker that contains the Devil's Eye. There IS magic that is intended to prevent anyone from getting to them, but… at the same time….

"At the same time, Emilio does want those keys to be found--by anyone with a heart and soul wholly devoted in destroying my Master.

"The Sins of the Sea don't know this--but the Keys are imbued by holy magic and guarded by trusted holymen across the world. Emilio has hoped that, one day, there will be brave enough souls--either outsiders altogether or these holymen themselves--who will come together with these Keys and finish the work he has started. But I frankly doubt anyone would… because what he tried to achieve is impossible. And only delayed the inevitable.

"I really would rather that Eye be destroyed altogether. No matter what happens to the souls bound to it."

"... Does that mean if Nabe lost something you could help her find it?" Nabe blurted out, eyes wide. "Like a sock or a Neat Pebble?"

(This of course got a small laugh from the other woman - who seemed less inclined to want to use such powers for herself.)

Elise shook her head, gathering her thoughts to refocus the conversation. "Couldn't they find these keys without your help? Or is there some kind of magical obfuscation to hide them?"

She hoped the answer to the second question was 'yes', if this so-called Master of hers was truly as dangerous as the compass claimed.

Then again... "Wouldn't such magic prevent you from detecting something?"
