today i will use my blog as a blog, so heres an update on my life and my thoughts! #01

today I have found out my GPA is saved and i will not be potentially kicked of honors at the end of the year, so that is less stress ! after the 19th, i have no school for a while and its great.. i wanna work on stuff i enjoy .... this consists of a lot of things...

Well first, I did not expect the appreciation I'd get for my portrait mods of the kids in stardew, and people have been requesting i implement them in the seasonal outfits mod so i decided I'll take up that task... I expected like 2 downloads imma be honest, so like 200+ people potentially looking at my art in their playthrough is so cool to me. I did not know I was not the only one who thought the kids looked really fucking weird!

Secondly, I am brainstorming ideas for my website a lot as i think about how to go about designing the other pages of it. My website recently hit over 1000 views which was pretty cool, and people have been niceys to me. I love my website, its like my art has become interactive now, and its very cool. it made me inspired to actually go through with considering doing my comic again.... I been thinking of the comic concept for years now and never felt like it was the right time to do it.. i think i just gave to Make the right time!

Another thing I been doing is writing scripts for videos i want to make and stuff. and this is not a new thing, i do this a lot, but it feels different this time. I feel like i have a clearer vision.. and also I been thinking of other creative projects i can do... I think overall i am slowly learning to fall in love with the creative process again.

Being an artist is weird and sucks a alot especially rn with all the censorship stuff and the overall negative attitude people take, and i really dont like any social media right now. It seems like anything that seems promising eventually crumbles. I think a lot of artists right now are feeling the Doom about it, specially those of us who couldnt properly translate an audience moving to other sites and stuff. I think the more I've focused on myself and my art, and stopped worrying about posting daily ( which is a privilege, since I don't need art as an income right now) I've just found joy in the process of making things and just sharing it when I feel like it. It helps me keep my mind off the fact social media is so hostile towards artists trying to grow now lmfao

I hope if any other fellow artists who are struggling and do this for money and are having a hard time with hating that they need a social presence for their art see this just know i see you and i yearn for old deviant art lmfao

The whole phenomenon of immigrants (or better put, children of immigrants) moving to or living in a different country where they would normally be discriminated against (or a similar experience) and then becoming conservative, right-wing and basically agreeing with or pandering to the very people who wouldn't even want them there in the first place is very interesting (and quite distressing, in my opinion). Kemi Badenoch was born in England, but went to school in Nigeria until she was 16. However, she has no open connection to or love lost for Nigerians, including Nigerians in the UK, like her.

I know multiple people with a similar background this (went to school with some of them, actually), and a good majority of them (especially the women) have more progressive views and are quite against the right wing on a LOT of issues. Badenoch is also against immigration, even though the UK's immigration policies are part of why she's even there in the first place. A Medium article by Adebayo Adeniran (linked below, but it's hidden behind a paywall) rightly points out that she was born during an era that was very politically charged AGAINST immigrants and people of colour (thank you, Margaret Thatcher).

The rate of things like this happening is increasing. And while I personally have a TON of issues with Nigeria, its government and much of the general attitude of the populace... if you were to put me in a position of power in a foreign country, I don't think I would try to pull the ladder up behind me, or betray my background in a way. The negative generalizations people have about certain groups really just negatively affect everyone. Vicious cycles and all that.

I would actually say my thoughts on the Nigerian government have made me far more left wing than if I were from anywhere else.

I also think its interesting that Badenoch apparently denies that the UK's wealth comes from colonization, when the power of most of the worlds 'superpowers' throughout history has almost always been related to some form of slavery or conquest (usually both at the same time).

Sometimes people like this start off with progressive views and/or closer cultural connections (the Guardian article mentions she started her political career with campaigning for fellow Nigerian British people to vote her in), but then there's like this switch and everything does a complete 180.

But why? What's the psychology behind this? Is it just 'grifting'? I guess that's what perplexes me the most.

Warhammer 40k & D&D AU

So I was looking over the wives category and I'm unsure if I'll write anything for the wives in their respective posts. If you do please engage me I really would like some semblance of direction.

But I either remove the Help Me from Fulgrim or simply label her as the Matron given that they're not really married nor overly fond of each other. Its Fulgrim who basically came back and was like "I'm taking the child to be cultured"

i genuinely have no animosity towards ppl who get upset abt not being able to read academic texts + i do think we need to expand the pathways/methods of being exposed to critical concepts so that "sit + read for 2 hours" is not the only option.

however, as someone dx with adhd + incapable of sitting still for even a minute (actually right at this moment i am writing this instead of reading the book sitting open in front of me), i do feel like a lot of ppl do not realize that not all readings are designed to be read like a novel.

as in, it's ok + normal + good to need to reread a paragraph several times, to only read part of a book, to have to research or reference words or concepts in order to grasp the reading, to skip over large chunks of text which are not relevant to your expertise, to continue reading despite not understanding a concept. this is something 'neurotypical' academics do frequently + many of these texts, especially contemporary ones, were designed with this in mind.

there are many ppl with accessibility needs that are not being met by academic texts at this time! many texts (in my humble opinion) are unnecessarily complex in order to show off or hide the fact that they have no idea what they're talking about.

i still feel like many of the kneejerk reactions on this site are based on the assumption that their experience reading academic texts should be similar to their experiences reading a nyt bestseller, rather than a process of thinking, analyzing, researching, processing, returning. some of u are telling yourself that any challenges u face while reading are a result of some internal fault u have + not an expected + precious part of the experience.

Man, it's cool and all if you see a metaphor for marginalisation in the monstrous, and if you want the power fantasy of 'what if you could just eat anybody who threatened you/pissed you off'. Me too.

However, as soon as you start saying 'no, these monsters are a 1:1 on Specific Marginalised Group, and you have to treat them in the fiction like they are directly representative of real human members of the marginalised group', BUT you also, in the fiction, make them hurt/kill/eat humans? And then try to shame me, your audience, for noticing or engaging with the bit where they kill people, because you made them directly representative of a real-world marginalised group? You have lost me, and also, I think, the plot.

Wrote in a separate post here that Oz has met Sun Wukong before when she was a child and he was buried under the mountain.

So when she got whisked back into fantasy ancient China, she landed where Yuan Shoucheng aka Gourd Grandpa (the old man carrying a big gourd on his back) was already waiting there for her. He foresaw her arriva. The vague gist of my AU is that the the reason why this Destined One succeeds in retrieving all artifacts and becomes SWK is because he is also sort of the manifestation of that childish promise 5-years-old Oz made that she will save SWK one day (from under the mountain but clearly that didn't happen lol). But also since her ancestor is from this world, her descendants were fated to return back here one day.

Gourd grandpa updates her on her ancestors and their roles in the Celestial Court and the shitstorm that happened that ultimately let to the clan being massacred and one person escaping to "our" world, where magic doesn't exist and all those people are just characters from myths and stories. But also her ancestor isn't the only person that traversed through the two worlds - over the centuries more have come and gone. This is also why people in her world have those myths and deities. In my AU Wu Cheng'en also escaped from fantasy ancient China into her world and then wrote Journey to the West. He took artistic liberty to change some things for his novel, hence some things in BMW are different than in JTTW (like the ZBJ and violet spider love story or how SWK had a romance with White Bone Demon).

Anywayyy, Oz task on the adventure is to document their journey together, and she is responsible for using the magical gourd to suck in the will of the defeated bosses in.

And 2-3 days later the Destined One shows up. I don't think Oz was very happy about leaving gourd grandpa and join the Destined One on his travel, but if he is her best chance to find a way back home to see Taylor Swift live, then she will do it.

The Destined One is indifferent to mildly annoyed about this, but doesn't protest too much, as long as she doesn't slow him down yadda yadda. I do think that DO did feel some sort of special connection to her, because he is sort of a manifestation of that promise. it doesn't really take long for him to get used to her and also to care for her. One of Sun Wukong's massive core trait is that he cares so much for his loved ones and does not hesitate to do the impossible for them, and I like to imagine that even though SWK senses have been split into 6 different parts, the caring part stayed with each Destined One reincarnation.

ALSO being on bluesky is reminding me i used to be on social media bc it was kind of fun. i used to be less scared of strangers and of talking to ppl. i have already rambled about this at length other times but i am thinking abt it again relative to necrotech99 and how excited i am abt it. it makes me wanna talk abt my stuff again.... (not TOO much bc i don't like unduly influencing quest suggestions/audience participation lol. like one thing i want to avoid from the tvrn era is it was really fun to answer so many behind-the-scenes questions, but i did end up eventually feeling like it created a situation where like... ppl who followed me on social media were having a rly different experience w the story, and had way more info, than ppl just following the thread, and i don't love cultivating/encouraging that kind of divide?)

anyway. thinking about that again. bc i used to talk abt tvrn all the time and promo it like crazy. and i even remember sometimes thinking to myself "damn where did i get all that energy bc lately promoing stuff/remembering to boost things online is such a drag and a chore and i hate it." and now that im on the necrotech grind im like oh yeah it was easy for me to remember to promo it bc i was.... genuinely promoing it... like i was genuinely eager to re-reblog stuff over and over and get more eyes on it bc i wanted really really badly for ppl to read and suggest!!!!! vs w work stuff a lot of times it's like. "[HEAVING A SIGH] i guess i should re-reblog stuff for Engagement and Visibility and Reach" in an abstract "maybe this will help me out jobwise? maybe someone will see my stuff and want to hire me, or find my itch and buy some games?" vs the DIRECT "i am hyping this up bc i want ppl to look at it now now NOW NOW NOW NOW :D NOW" that i feel when im rly into a quest

thinking about that article where Aidan talks about Five being lost this season, about how he doesn't know what his place is in the universe. thinking about how it might be because there's no longer any apocalypse to stop, no world to save, and comparing it to similar circumstances in season 3. thinking about the fact Five's response to having fulfilled his purpose in that situation is not to despair but to celebrate. you could argue that maybe it's because the reality of it hasn't set in, that he's essentially in the honeymoon phase of no longer having a place in the world, but I'd argue there's another consideration - his family. Five in S3 is content, happy even, despite no longer having a purpose because at least he still knows his place. and that's amongst the people he's dedicated decades of his life to saving. thinking about how, by the end of the season, Five was ready to finally put an end to it all - no more stopping the apocalypse. because at least he'd get to go out surrounded by the people he loved. but S4 sees them all split up. and now Five's without a purpose and without his family. and there's no end of the world to save them from; they won, timeline fixed, universe restored. his family is finally safe. and Five is still alone.
