after scraping down the internet i found little bits of dialogue and unseen snippets of scenes that are there in the long trailer and saw an eng sub for 2 of those 'trailers' and I'm going crazy. all nuts and bolts on the floor, scattered, rolling away into oblivion. the dialogues are so good guys i CANNOT wait to see how it goes down from now on. once yuan is back. after having lived with his feelings for Years and Years, that they no longer make him scared or ashamed or disgusted anymore. or as many suggest when he returns ready to snipe back, 'pettier' (and prettier- THAT'S THE FIRST thing he asked qian when he comes back, atleast from the long trailer-). when Qian is the one in agony, the kind Yuan was in before he left. after all the loneliness both of them went through. as full grown lived in adults (Qian alr was but his world was yet to shift, i.e he still doesn't know how to make sense of anything or ever cared to dwell on anything thinking he doesn't want anything for he has his family, his brother- but now he's going to WANT, perhaps for the first time ever. and i. Cannot. Wait.

I'm a bit confused about the Far Cry series and the trend of villains not actually dying or hinted to be alive. In Far Cry 5 Casey Fixman mentions the Jackal, In Far Cry 6 there's a magazine of Pagan Min, A note from the SEEDS (plural?!) sent flowers and seeds to Yara, and proof that Vaas lived. I'm confused whether the events of each previous game occurred in this timeline.
I know
Far Cry 6 is confusing because it “killed” the timeline.
I think that, after the world canonically ended in Far Cry 5, the devs realized it would now technically be impossible to make more Far Cry games set in the present day in the same universe, so they decided that there were only “loose connections between the games” because “each Far Cry has its own stories and world”, to quote what the narrative director said on Reddit.
There were clearly more than “loose connections” before, though, because we know Hurk and Willis went to the Rook Islands and Kyrat, for example, and met Jason and Ajay... But, anyway, that’s the explanation they came up with to circumvent the Collapse: there isn’t just one Far Cry world and timeline, there are many, and the apocalypse never happened in the world of Far Cry 6.
But I think that would have worked better if they hadn’t included so many Easter eggs and references to previous games in Far Cry 6
In doing so, because they didn’t care about having one consistent timeline anymore, they ended up “retconning” things, and fans are understandably confused.
So, yes, Vaas is alive and talks to Juan in Far Cry 6’s post-credits scene, but he still canonically died in Far Cry 3 (it’s been confirmed several times). As for the Seeds, they seem fine in Far Cry 6, and the world hasn’t ended in that game, but the Collapse and the deaths of the Heralds still canonically happened in Far Cry 5.
Basically, Far Cry 6 has its own timeline, so you can ignore what it says about the previous games’ events and characters; the devs just referenced whatever they liked and nothing really means anything. I assume they did that for the sake of fan service and thought it would be fun, but while I appreciate the sentiment (Easter eggs are fun and not that serious), as a fan of lore and continuity, that sometimes feels a bit more like “fan disservice” to me đŸ„Č

Is Dani telepathic or something how the fuck did she name Boomer Boom-Boom with no prior knowledge as to who the fuck this dog was. Does she just know?? Like?? Is she from Montana or did she just think "This dog looks like it's called Boomer." Also how the fuck did that dog get all the way from Montana to the Carribeans.

AGAINST THE WALL (Transcript)
FLASHBACK
TALIA: What are you doing?
CLARA: It’s my papá’s. I borrowed it
TALIA in spanish: (Yeah sure)
CLARA: I’m done, Talia. No more secret meetings. No more protests. No more friends that just disappear. He’s too strong.
TALIA: So..you’re gonna just march into the Capitolio and put daddy's gun to Castillo’s head?
CLARA: No. I’m going to build an army. And then I’m going to put castillo in the ground. Come with me. You don’t think I can do it I’ve seen this Talia I’ve dreamed it--
TALIA: My mama used to tell me, “save the dreams for rich, fair skinned Yarans.” Us? We don’t get to dream. We survive. You're not going to free Yara by killing Castillo, rich girl. You have to convince Yara it wants to be free. For all of us.
PRESENT DAY
DANI: Clara. Clara. You wanna tell me why you dragged me back to my old orphanage?
CLARA: He’s losing, Dani. And soon we march on the Capitolio. And now
Castillo wants to meet.
DANI: You’re joking right?
CLARA: I want to know what you think. You’ve been face to face.
DANI: I think Castillo’s always two steps ahead and he's not gonna stop unless we put a pullet in his skull.
CLARA: And then what? We kill his kid too? You had your chance, why didn't you do it? Juan had solid intel there was a Castillo up in that hotel. He just had the wrong one. You let his kid live and then Castillo lets you walk away from a death sentence.  But the thing is Dani, you were right. If Yara is going to have a future, his people, our people, we need to co-exist. [And] The point was never to kill Castillo. It was to free Yara. For all of us.
DANI: You had already made up your mind, hadn’t you. Yara needs a leader, Clara. Not a martyr.
CLARA: Viva libertad, Dani

Just remembered I still need to cancel that job interview I got signed up for against my will
Tumblr media
#i just sent the email cancelling it but god.#the way that temping agency sat on my info for well over a month and then finally scheduled something the same week i got a job offer#like where were you people when i was sitting here unemployed and going insane#i’d better not get some ‘this is such short notice :(‘ girl i sent it sunday evening. the interview isn’t until wednesday afternoon#you can see it first thing monday morning and adjust your week accordingly#i bet they’re going to get back to me saying something like ‘you need to remove your info from the temping agency then’ but the thing is#i can’t fucking log in. they’re saying my saved password is incorrect when like.. how can it be. it’s saved. it must have worked before#and when i tried to reset my password i just didn’t get the email. functional website!!!!#it gets worse: my email just bounced back saying it couldn’t be delivered. i think the email address they gave me for this person#was misspelled (there was an s at the end of her surname when i don’t think there should’ve been) so i’ve tried again#if this doesn’t go through i’m going to have to CALL them. crying and screaming and throwing up#okay i think this one went through. it hasn’t bounced back anyway.#i just hope to fucking god that my job doesn’t fall through at the last fucking second because this is the SECOND interview i have cancelled#like i didn’t want to go to either of them anyway because i didn’t want either of those jobs but they Were jobs#i think i declined both politely enough that i shouldn’t have burned the bridge permanently. that was my intention at least#like i’m always slightly tempted to ghost recruiters because 1) they’re constantly ghosting me and 2) fuck ‘em#but you never know when you’re going to have to run to someone with your tail between your legs and be like ‘actually yeah can i be a summer#school teacher for minimum wage? đŸ„ș’#i haaaate job hunting. as far as i’m concerned the biggest perk of this job is that i won’t have to job hunt for 6 months#personal

I just want to share something really quick, and I'd love to hear your two cents on this.
One of the best things about Collapse (despite its flaws) for me was the Voice not being as benevolent of an entity as Joseph initially thought. That reveal actually gave me a lot of vindication on my own personal headcanons surrounding the Voice before Collapse had been released. And it's something I don't really see talked much about, often times its brushed over really.
The Voice is manipulative, especially on Joseph, and I actually believe that the only reason Joseph was given the visions of his family alive in New Eden was so it could a) ensure Joseph stayed devoted and b) just to give Joseph a false sense of hope and ultimately laugh at Joseph's desperate attempts to keep his family (such as John) alive and for his eventual breakdown over their deaths (I headcanon that the Voice had never intended for Joseph's siblings to survive). It uses its cunningness, omnipresence and ever knowing knowledge to create and execute plans accordingly, and with just how arrogant it is, you just know it expects things to happen according to how it wants and must have a kick in watching Joseph and many others suffer, helpless to its power. It clearly knew what it was doing when it chose to speak Joseph right after his wife's death. I have no doubt that the Voice anticipated/expected Joseph to sacrifice his infant daughter, despite how the situation was presented as a test or choice to Joseph.
I don't even think it ever actually cared if 3000 souls were saved in the bunkers from the Collapse. The Voice definitely doesn't cry a river about it. It just wanted to string Joseph along and play him like a fiddle until it eventually gets bored with him. And just thinking about it makes my heart ache for Joseph even more. There was no happy ending for him from the beginning. The Voice played Joseph from start to finish, giving him moments of hope and peace (finding his family again, being right about the Collapse, New Eden, the Captain of Security's arrival) before taking it away (the Deputy killing his siblings, the post-Collapse world not being as peaceful or fulfilling as he expected, New Eden burned to the ground, and Ethan's bitterness and envy growing to corrupt and eventually kill him) because the Voice is just that cruel.
The Voice is the greater-scope villain. It planned, and inflicted pain and suffering and misery on Joseph (a devoted instrument) and everyone else around him just because it could and wanted to do it.
Collapse wasn't a DLC I enjoyed very much, but the Voice will always be a highlight for me. It's now one of my favourite "love to hate" antagonists. And it gives me a real rush of serotonin thinking about the Far Cry 5 fics I want to write that are heavily dipped in a "screw destiny" plotline just to wipe the Voice's smugness.
Yeah, that's all I wanted to get off my chest. Happy second day of 2023 (or first depending on your timezone).
I like what they chose to do with the Voice in Collapse too! Even though it’s also played by Greg Bryk, the fact that it shows Joseph his future as we’ve seen it in New Dawn indicates that the Voice is clearly not a figment of his imagination. In the DLC, Joseph had no idea what New Eden would look like, that the Deputy would become his Judge, and even that he had a son, but he saw all of that because the Voice is real and omniscient, not just “in his head”. I’ve been saying that “God” was the true villain of Far Cry 5 all along and, even if I don’t consider the Far Cry 6 Season Pass canon for many reasons, I was glad the new writing team agreed with that!
Ironically, the Voice being malevolent, choosing the highly devoted, well-meaning Joseph Seed as a punching ball for its own enjoyment, ruining his life, and never intending to keep its promises (except the Apocalypse, so the death of millions of people) can also explain several of New Dawn’s inconsistencies and why that game’s ending felt pointless. I don’t know if it was intentional and the DLC’s writers thought that “the Voice never cared about anything or anyone and did things just because it felt like it” was the best solution to make everything sort of make sense but, honestly, they’re not really wrong

I’m not sure the Voice was supposed to be 100% evil and manipulative in the minds of the original Far Cry 5 writers, but I think Collapse was right for showing that Joseph was telling the truth, merely following orders, and that, because of his unwavering faith, had to suffer the loss of everyone he loved. I’m obviously not saying he didn’t do bad things, but it’s important to remember why he did them. Making the Voice Joseph’s guide and villain in the DLC was a great idea.
And, yes, it was the second day of 2023 for me when you sent this, so thank you very much, and happy 6th(?) day of 2023 to you :D
