maybe people have been too conditioned by the bl formula prevalent in the 'one fell first, but the other fell harder' trope that kinda requires the second character to 'suffer' a little before they're let in. the sole basis being that character 1 has dealt with unreciprocated feelings for longer and hence now has to play hard to get in the latter half to even things out. tho unfortunately relationships don't work like that. people dont. Most definitely not in unknown. Qian suffered serious parental abuse and harrassment from the only person he had in that role. He probably has never developed feelings for anyone or ever felt the need to get intimate with them. it makes sense for his character. all he's done is toil away to secure a future for his siblings, his only family. So ofcourse he needs to take his time. ep 7 was almost wordless in his solo scenes, but his internal journey was so fantastically expressed. Yuan understands. hence why we also know that he won't be able to do any crazy stuff for pettiness' sake either. Nor does he want to. they understand each other. they've always loved each other, until it took another form. First on yuan's part and now qian. What wasn't closely examined earlier due to proximity has been now, on Qian's part; in the absence of Yuan.

a step by step guide on how to do this would be much appreciated as i seriously need to build an effective and efficient system for myself. and discipline. got very little of it now
Took me until about halfway through college before I realized “study” means “play with the material in a variety of ways until you understand it” and not just “read the assigned chapters and do the homework” and I think that probably should have been discussed at some point prior to that.

This post articulates so much of why being aromantic has changed my views fundamentally as a person. In the best most rewarding and freeing way possible. Being aro is the best thing to ever happen to me and it's the most important part of me. One that holds the closest place to my heart.
When talking about aromanticism there tends to be a lot of emphasis on the basic idea of “you can be happy without romance,” which is a true but underwhelming sentiment. Yes, you can be happy without romance, in the same way you can be happy without liking certain types of foods or certain hobbies and the like.
But being aromantic is beyond that. Aromanticism isn’t just “not bad” or “not lesser” or “not a tragedy.” Being aromantic is beautiful, and joyful, and fun.
Being aromantic means realizing that the life you’re expected to want is not what you ACTUALLY want and so, it is the freedom and exhilaration of figuring out what you want and forging your own path through life. Aromanticism is the deeply personal process of examining your feelings and finding your own priorities in life. It’s looking at your relationships and refusing to label them, instead letting them exist as they are and focusing not on what your relationships “are supposed to look like” but rather, what you WANT them to look like. It’s making your own decisions on what sort of relationships are important to you, refusing to let anyone make that choice on your behalf.
Aromanticism is the rejection of the expectation that you should water yourself down into something more palatable so that others might be attracted to you. It’s knowing that the way you look, the way dress, the way you behave and present yourself are for your own sake, not anyone else’s.
It’s the relief of not having to worry about relationship drama, because you’re single and happy to be single.
It’s the sense of joy and community that comes with slipping a white ring on your left hand middle finger.
It’s existing for yourself. It is knowing that you don’t need any “other half” because you are whole.
It’s whatever you want it to be, because aromanticism the journey towards your own form of happiness, whatever that may mean for you.

Not nd myself, but while reading the book, i also dint find it had much to do with the reviews at all. 'comical, funny, quirky', so and so went the reviews and now that i'm done reading it, they just feel dissonant. I dint really find the book funny in any way. it made me go 'oh this is hilarious' at certain exchanges, but it wasn't because i was laughing exactly. It was cause the ridiculousness of society was being expressed thoroughly. Both through the things the characters said to Keiko and what she made out of the interactions. She's really smart. she may not be able to understand why exactly people act in these ways, but she's able to pin point their motivations almost instantly, with an air of objectivity. If this ties into what people find 'quirky' about neurodivergent people, i really dunno, I'm not one to speak on it also, i'd say. Loved the book.
Reading Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata was an interesting experience but one that I was not expecting going in and one that, reading reviews, was apparently not universal?
To me, it reads as a simple slice of life for an autistic woman. Like yes, there are sad undertones, yes there is commentary about the way a capitalistic society works, and yes, for neurotypical people it may be odd. But it's literally just a glimpse at how a neurodivergent person lives. And that's automatically going to be sad, political, and odd just because of how society IS.
Meanwhile, the Guardian is calling it "unsettling" yet also "weird and funny". Another review says it's for "anyone who feels at odds with the world". And, of course, the millions of usages of "quirky". Like.... Literally none of those are correct but they're what's on the book! I'm not even autistic and I feel offended!!
Anyway, I thought it was groundbreaking because of its refreshing take on neurodivergence society deems "unusual" and, secretly, "unacceptable" where the neurodivergent character is just living her life and yet.....neurotypicals are out here wildly misunderstanding it....as usual :/

i love full fledged first episodes, i love characters with history where it feels like the story has been ongoing, and we just happened to join in now. it's so much more alluring than when a story seems to start anew. i love self aware characters. i love characters who know what they want and do not hesitate to seize a chance when they see one. i love midnight vibes, i love a good 'the night is still young' atmosphere. i lovee warm colours. i'm in.

I know. Ever since finding out I'm aro, I've only ever wanted to meet more aspec people. i keep fantasizing all these conversations and secret glances we could have in the face of subtle amatonormativity and isolating circumstances. i don't do friendship well but the allyship, the affinity is one i endlessly long for. I'm not at all extroverted but I've hinted my aromanticism (and casually come out to several classmates) to literally everyone I've talked to. still no luck but looking forward eagerly to the day i spot a fellow aro and finally - let go.
ok real talk aro to aro one of the best things you can do for yourself is find other aros irl. i know that sounds literally impossible and it sure as hell can feel like that but being able to talk about our issues and our culture and our experiences face to face with an actual person and not just an icon and handle on a screen will literally change your life. i’m not even being hyperbolic. go out and find other aros. it’s worth it
