Tyde Rises
the part 3 of the show where I get to ramble about two of my drs! Double feature!!
Tumblr media
The superb specialized spotlights tonight 🥁🥁🥁
It's Fantastic Mr. Fox and Steven Universe!!
Extra long post tonight, buckle up folks.
Tumblr media
First up! My Fantastic Mr. Fox reality!
I am a fox by species, but became a fox by last name when I was adopted by Mr. Fox's brother, who's pretty busy and still in the stealing game, so I stay with the Foxes regularly. I'm there so much, they have a sleeping bag for whenever I show up. I'm a little shorter than Kristofferson, with a navy blue kind of fur and a few yellow spots (space theme dies hard)
The time that I shift is the day the movie starts, or 7 fox years later I guess, and me and Ash are getting ready for school. I overhear Mr. Fox while we're getting ready and I wonder if they'll get me a room. They don't obviously, but we keep my sleeping bag, and I just move to the living room when Kristofferson comes over.
Other than that, the plot mostly proceeds as normal, except for when we go to get Mr. Fox's tail back. I get caught instead, and Ash and Kristofferson have to work together to get me back, then we move into the sewers and all goes pretty well. By the end, my dad hears about everything and he moves in, because all of that was something of a wake up call.
Tumblr media
I'm Tyde Swiftfox, and just as much of a troublemaker as my dad, encouraging Ash's thirst for thievery. A lot of the time, we just go around the house with bandit masks on, or dressed up as whitecape. I try to keep him out of major trouble, like messing with Kristofferson or people at school messing with him, but we pull off little things.
A few of the trophies that he has around his room? They aren't all his, but nobody argues with us. Not like the school display has room for every trinket.
Tumblr media
Mr. Fox and Ms. Fox treat me like their own kid, but I'm still super close with my own dad. Kristofferson is like the opposite of me in terms of what he learned from his dad, for a better understanding. We're close, but it's because we kill chickens and sprint off of farms, not because we meditate and play it safe, tsk tsk.
There isn't a lot I have planned for this reality, because I'm just looking forward to a sweet, regular life thing!
Tumblr media
And Steven!
In this reality, there is no Steven, just Tyde Universe. I love Steven, yes, and there's another reality I'm thinking of making where I'm a gem or just another gem hybrid, but for now! It'sa me!
My dad is Greg Universe, and my mom figures are all the Crystal Gems. Which, because blue is my favorite color and I respectfully refuse to sacrifice that, includes Rose! Her and my mom, Howlite, or Tourmaline Diamond, both lived on Earth. She was the closest to Pink, and inherited it instead of her, but Pink was sent there to be kept under control and away from important diamond work.
This, obviously, did not work. Pink turned Rose, and when she made the mistake of admitting it while arguing with mom's overly concerned manners, Tour turned Howlite.
Starlight and Moonbeam get up to too much trouble, so the Crystal Gems (Pearl, Howlite, and Rose) get rid of mom. Pink's remains are never found, though.
Tumblr media
Not my best work, but an example of mom! Really just an edit and recolor I made about a year back.
Tumblr media
I have a lot of the same abilities as Steven, though there's a few major differences! I can create, being a diamond, but I'm more proficient in destroying things and makings things used to destroy. I normally use a sword, but I can manipulate it into being a variety of different weapons, and if a gem presents me with their weapon, I can change it to whatever they want.
I can also do this mine thing, where I can set up timed attacks meant to freeze other gems momentarily. Thankfully, these are all realized in my/my mom's room, and because my gem can project older versions, like saved files, of my mom explain them. They're really short explanations due to how much is takes for my gem to sustain her and me at the same time, but they keep me from hurting people.
Tumblr media
One major change is the whole reveal of Rose/Pink Diamond. I call that one "A Rose on Tour", and it starts roughly the same. I see Rose and Pearl talking, Rose heads off to clean up beach wreckage, and I figure then is as good a time as any to bring up the diamonds. Pearl tells me she can't tell me, so I go sulk in the big donut.
I get back when she sends me a text and Rose tells me that she can answer now if I still have questions, figuring they'll be surface level. They are not! Why did you shatter Tour and Pink!? straight for the jugular.
Pearl and Rose just kinda look at me, then Pearl says it might be easier for me to track it down on my own, in her head and text her when I'm done. I just kinda go with it, weirder stuff has happened to me this week. Everything else is pretty normal, until the reveal, when I see Pink turn into Rose and mom explain the plan. Rose promises to wait for Pearl, and then mom rushes off. Pearl shapeshifts, apologizes, and I text Pearl.
I absolutely freak when I'm back, because a war lord?? in my home??? more likely than I think???? screaming the Tour-ma-line and Aunt Pink thing to the high heavens.
My favorite part of this, is that even though Garnet does freak, Rose is there to give closure and everyone checks on me and Amethyst makes sure that I'm alright. No high stakes running around for me, just processing.
Tumblr media
Me and the Crystal gems are all pretty close! Them and Dad have worked hard to raise me without a ton of stress or secrets, because they love me.
Me and Connie are also close when we meet in the show, but I probably won't date her or anything. I could see a QPR, maybe, but all to be figured out once we're there.
Tumblr media
I'm super excited for both of these!!!! Hope the double feature was alright, probably won't do these a whole ton. Only have around 20 some odd realities I'm headed to, can't drain the reserves any faster than I already have 😭

Hmm…I got an idea for how “Avengers Doomsday” could go:
Based on the end of “Multiverse of Madness”, we know that an incursion is occurring. The MCU is colliding with some other universe and it’s Strange’s fault somehow. Since “The Fantastic Four” apparently takes place in another universe, what if that’s the lead-in?
The universe that the MCU is collapsing into is the F4-verse. From there, the F4 movie can develop in several ways. Maybe Doom caused the incursion and that Strange is being unjustly blamed for it? Or maybe Reed Richards caused it because dangers of science and so on.
Anyways, with the incursion happening, the F4 realize they have to travel to the other universe to work with the heroes there in order to save both their universes. Cue…crossover. And if Doom caused the incursion, then it makes sense he’s the main villain. The movie is literally called Doomsday and the movie is about a doomsday that’s going to wipe out the MCU and F4’s universes.
As to how they can fix the problem…maybe a merger? “Multiverse of Madness” set up the idea that you can’t really stop an incursion and that at least one of the universes is dying out. So since both universes can’t survive the crash, through comic book logic, maybe the universes can be merged together to save everyone. This leads to the timeline being somewhat changed, in that the previous events are still technically canon, but are now modified with the new characters.
(Maybe this is also the justification for having the mutants in the MCU. If the mutants exist in F4-verse, then they get merged as well. Also, I didn’t intend on this, but F4-verse in this write-up sounds like it’s just a different version of 20th Century Fox’s Marvel movies lol. Because X-Men and Fantastic Four)

How Human is your Animal?
Based on animalistic representation in Media. Ranging from anthropomorphic to everyday pet.
A tier list for your convenience
S Tier- Humans don’t exist here
Qualifications: the world has no humans, animals tend to walk on hind legs and participate in human like societies, most likely anthropomorphic but not required
Zootopia, Kung Fu Panda, Sing, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Chicken Little, My Little Pony, Goofy Movie, Ducktales, Robin Hood, Angry Birds, Samurai Rabbit, Paws of Fury, Spiderhams Universe
A Tier- I see, a little co-op happening
Qualifications: the world has humans, humans acknowledge animals in some way, they can be hired/considered for jobs and/or are active in society. Might be considered mutants
Paddigton, Muppets, Stuart Little, The Bad Guys, Pinnocio, Shrek universe, Care Bears, the Bee Movie, Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3, and subsequently the entire MCU, Monsters Inc, Storks, Looney Tunes, TMNT, MHA, Yogi Bear, We Bare Bears, Chip N’ Dale: Rescue Rangers (2022), Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Hop, Wonderland, James and the Giant Peach, Hoodwinked, Mr. Peabody and Sherman, Ichabod and Toad, Sonic Movie
B Tier- Your getting suspiciously close
Qualifications: act more human like, perhaps develop a hidden society or walk on hind legs or plan elaborate heists, it’s just not quite right for an animal
Madagascar, Ice Age, Shark Tale, Surfs Up, Snoopy, Rescuers, SpongeBob, Ratatouille, Horton Hears a Who, Free Birds, Great Mouse Detective, Chicken Run, Flushed Away, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Tom and Jerry, Secret of Nym, Tale of Desperaeux, American Tail, Once Upon a Forest, Garfield, Over the Hedge, Rango
C Tier- Communication is key in fostering animal relationships
Qualifications: Perhaps by magical transformation or special gift or something that has always been kept a secret until now, these animals are able to talk to you
Cinderella, Tarzan, Jungle Book, Epic, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Charlottes Web, Scooby Doo, Happy Feet, Snow White, Pete’s Dragon, Princess and the Frog, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Spies In Disguise, Emperors New Groove, Enchanted, Sophia the First, Peter Rabbit, Meet the Robinsons, Anastasia, Swan Princess, Dr. Dolittle, Leo, Up
D Tier- Oh look, it’s gaining complexity
Qualifications: although animals have been known to convey emotions nothing is more complex than creating Shakespearean like storylines. Humans take to the sidelines
Lion King, Finding Nemo, 101 Dalmatians, Bambi, Land Before Time, The Secret Life of Pets, Bugs Life, Oliver and Company, All Dogs go to Heaven, Lady and the Tramp, Fox and the Hound, Aristocats, Migration, Bolt, Dinosaur, The Good Dinosaur, Super Pets, Dumbo, Home in the Range, G-force, The Wild, Spirit, Rio, Curious George
F Tier- It’s all okay, animals are just animals here
Qualifications: Imagine your pet in a movie, that’s prolly what fits here. The everyday dog, or cat, or shark. Likely plays a part in the plot progression of the movie
Babe, Jurassic Park, Milo and Otis, Old Yeller, Life of Pi, Sword in the Stone, Beethoven, A Dogs Purpose, We Bought a Zoo, Pokémon, Dolphins Tale, Homeward Bound, The Black Stallion, Marley and Me, Jaws, King Kong, How to Train Your Dragon
Z Tier- So it doesn’t work like other places, but it works for you
Qualifications: a Universe with its own set of rules, perhaps jumping into a place outside of their own where rules seem just a little different. Who can say if it was real, or a dream?
Mary Poppins, Spiderverse, Fantasia, Mario Bros, Song of the South, Alice in Wonderland (cartoon), Calvin and Hobbes
Each placing is based on the highest human to animal ratio in universe even if that is one exception. This is for fun, don’t take it too seriously. You’re welcome to fill in anything you think is missing. If I mentioned one of your favorite movies you have to reblog, I don’t make the rules.
😉

You said you saw Deadpool & Wolverine - how did you like it?
Oohh, thanks Nonny! I had been planning on writing my thoughts! :)
I liked it!
I thought it was a very apt bridge between the old Fox films and Deadpool coming into the MCU.
I'm not a huge fan of uber violent things but something I appreciate about the Deadpool films (and Ryan Reynolds' brand of 12yo humor) is that behind it all is a lot of heart. And this film retained that, through all the crudeness, the point is that ultimately, Deadpool/Wade is a really good guy. And I can respect that.
Getting into specifics... which are very spoiler-y
I thought the plot itself was very thin, and this whole thing probably works better as a bunch of sketches, but it's fine. I was never asking for a lot from this film, and it did the only thing I was really asking of it, which was provide entertainment and get Deadpool into the MCU.
I appreciate that they really didn't shit on Logan's legacy while bringing Hugh Jackman back. Jackman seemed to be having a good time of it, which I'm glad to see.
Btw, loved all the musical jokes we got in this! Loved it.
I LOVED the montage of various Wolverines -- I understood most of the references! Yay me for reading X-Men comics for so long!!
The Henry Cavill cameo? Perfect.
I'm not surprised we didn't see a lot of Wade's family and friends, but it is sad they got such a small amount of screen time.
Ooff, Vanessa continues to be the one really weak piece of this whole thing. Does the actress not want to be there? Does she have limited time? Why is her character always being reduced to love interest whom Wade does everything for but there's no development of her character? Idk.
The TVA stuff is fine. I feel like it's so convoluted now that it doesn't really matter that it ultimately doesn't make much sense. I do think the MCU needs to start moving away from the multiverse stuff. It's just getting too mucky and it's lost focus.
Oh, why is Thor holding Deadpool, I'm sure it was just a gag, but oh god would it be hilarious if they brought it back at some point.
The Happy stuff. It's always great to see him, but how did Deadpool end up in the main universe? Why am I even questioning this?
Cracked me up that they hid Peter's face in that picture. Can't give Sony any more money than necessary.
Oh, in general, I love LOVED all the fourth wall breaks. This is why I watch Deadpool movies.
Cassandra Nova was fine as a villain. The actress was great! She just feels... a little too seriously evil to be in this comedy movie. Idk.
All the returning c-list villains were fun!
Having Chris Evans return as Johnny Strom was a brilliant move and I loved it. Having him just be the opposite of Steve Rogers on top of it was hilarious. Perfect use of a cameo, film.
Wesley Snipes returning as Blade. Goddamn. I'm kinda surprised he agreed to do it!
Great to see Jennifer Garner return as Elektra. I'm kinda glad I made myself watch all those marvel movies (which I still need to finish...) I appreciate this cameo more (and the dig at Daredevil).
Yay Laura returning! Could have always used more of her, but she did what she needed to.
Okay. Okay, let's talk about it. Let's talk about Channing Tatum as Gambit...
The Pros : The accent was fun, the way they used his powers was fantastic and original, they didn't make him the butt of jokes or treat him like a joke, there was a general respect for the character overall and I really, really, appreciate that being a Gambit fan
The Cons : Look, I have nothing against Tatum personally. He just doesn't look right. He's too think in body shape (not meant in a derogatory way), and his face just doesn't work in the headsock. Not to mention the costume looked plastic and cheap.
I really hope Gambit is back, but can we have Tatum as Gambit here like we had JKras as Mr. Fantastic in Dr. Strange? Just a one time fun gag? Please??
Remy is having a really good year despite dying everywhere.
The Deadpool squad (or whatever) I'm afraid I haven't read enough Deadpool to really get it, but it was fun. The side scrolling action sequence reminded me of a video game. And honestly, Wolverine with his cowl on, just kind of loosely moving reminded me of a video game as well.
I'm super curious to see how Deadpool plays within the MCU now. Let's go for it.
The credits were a nice touch. I'm glad they could honor those films for what they did, and I'm glad we can now move on from them.
Tl:dr it was fun and I liked it! :)

My Disney Villain Categorization because I have lost control of my life
Disclaimer: I am ONLY counting movies from the Walt Disney Animation Studios line-up. That means, no Pixar, DisneyToon, no live-action, etc etc.
If y'all ever want to know what kind of Disnerd I am..... here ya go. I don't come up with theories or headcanons. Instead, I categorize! So here's the giant list no one asked for lmao:
~~~
There are Four Major Categories:
Totalitarianism
Personal Grudge
Means to an End
Ambiguous
Each category has two sub-categories, plus sometimes an extra sub-sub-category:
Totalitarianism: The Selfish Tyrant & Imperialism
Personal Grudge: Rise to Power (Aka, Hate Your Dad) & Obsession
Means to an End: Animal/Child Cruelty & Forces of Nature
Ambiguous: Intangible & It's Complicated
Without any further ado, let's dive in!
Tier 1: Totalitarianism
The Selfish Tyrant
What it says on the tin. Already a monarch, already has power, and just abuses it for their own personal reasons.
Queen of Hearts (Alice in Wonderland)
Prince John (Robin Hood)
King Candy/Turbo (Wreck-It Ralph)
King Magnifico (Wish)
Imperialism
Even if it's not literally imperialism, these are the villains who are interested in "spreading" their power, to subjugate others for their own selfish needs, etc.
The Horned King (The Black Cauldron)
Ratigan (The Great Mouse Detective)
Gov. Ratcliffe (Pocahontas)
Shan Yu (Mulan)
Lt. Rourke (Atlantis: The Lost Empire)
Alameda Slim (Home on the Range)
King Runeard (Frozen 2)
~~~
Tier 2: Personal Grudge
Rise to Power (aka, Hate You/Your Dad)
This formula was particularly popular during the Renaissance (almost HALF of those films employed this!)
Ursula (The Little Mermaid)
Jafar (Aladdin)
Scar (The Lion King)
Hades (Hercules)
Yzma (The Emperor's New Groove)
Dr. Facilier (The Princess and the Frog)
Hans (Frozen)
Bellwether (Zootopia)
Obsession
These are the villains who don't want or need more power, but rather are fixated on the protagonist, for one reason or another.
Revenge:
Evil Queen (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs)
Captain Hook (Peter Pan)
Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty)
Shere Khan (The Jungle Book)
Amos Slade (The Fox and the Hound)
Bowler Hat Guy (Meet the Robinsons)
Callaghan (Big Hero 6)
Control:
Most of these are toxic romantic abusers, but familial ones are counted as well.
Lumpjaw (Fun & Fancy Free; the Bongo sequence)
Lady Tremaine (Cinderella)
Gaston (Beauty and the Beast)
Frollo (The Hunchback of Notre Dame)
Jack-in-the-Box (Fantasia 2000; the Steadfast Tin Soldier sequence)
Mother Gothel (Tangled)
Ralph (Ralph Breaks the Internet)
~~~~~
Tier 3: Means to an End
Cruelty
These are the villains who have no real interest in "power," but are willing to use unethical methods to get what they want (usually monetary or material desires).
Animal:
Cruella DeVil (101 Dalmatians)
Edgar (The Aristocats)
Clayton (Tarzan)
Child:
Every single Pinocchio villain (besides Monstro lol)!!
Medusa (The Rescuers)
Sykes (Oliver & Company)
McCleach (The Rescuers Down Under)
Forces of Nature
What it says on the tin. These aren't really "bad guys," no matter how scary they appear. They're just Nature and a source of conflict for our heroes.
Monstro (Pinocchio)
T-Rex (Fantasia; the Rite of Spring sequence)
"Man" (Bambi)
The Wolf (Make Mine Music; Peter & the Wolf sequence)
The Rat (Lady and the Tramp)
Black Bear (The Fox and the Hound)
The Firebird (Fantasia 2000; the Firebird Suite sequence)
Carnotaurus (Dinosaur)
Te Ka (Moana)
Don't Fuck with the Fae
Same principle as Forces of Nature, only fantastical/supernatural examples, and as a result, are often more petty or cruel. But mostly, they don't actually do any harm when left alone. But if you cross their path....
Zeus (Fantasia; the Pastoral Symphony sequence)
Chernabog (Fantasia; the Night on Bald Mountain sequence)
Willy the Giant (Fun & Fancy Free; Mickey and the Beanstalk sequence)
The Headless Horseman (The Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad; Sleepy Hollow sequence)
Madam Mim (The Sword in the Stone)
Tamatoa (Moana)
~~~
Tier 4: Ambiguous
Intangible
I'm just gonna list the films that have a sorta "villain"-ish, in the sense that there's a major conflict/theme that hurts the protagonists, but is mostly very.... vague or metaphorical.
Dumbo (society/prejudice)
Lady and the Tramp (classism/animal cruelty)
The Fox & the Hound (yes, I counted Amos Slade and the Bear previously, but the "true" villain is Prejudice)
Brother Bear (ironically, would fit under "Obsession/Revenge"..... if the target was more than just an ordinary bear)
Chicken Little (society/bad parents)
Bolt (reality)
Encanto (generational trauma)
Strange World (generational trauma)
It's Complicated:
Honestly, I straight up could not decide on a category for these movies because their "villains" are much more complicated than your average Disney antagonist.
Lilo & Stith
Treasure Planet
Raya and the Last Dragon
And finally!
No Villains:
Here's the handful of Disney movies with absolutely ZERO villains or major antagonists or themes that can be interpreted as the "true" villain/conflict.
(I don't count the Heffalumps and Woozles, because they only exist in Pooh's dream lol)
Saludos Amigos
The Three Cabelleros
Melody Time
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Winnie the Pooh (2011)

any favourite films?
Oh good question. A lot of them are probably going to make people who are bigger filmbros than myself sigh and shake their head but whatever. Yap sesh incoming for some of these I fear
Dead Poets Society - Took over my life for a year straight (if that word could be used to describe anything to do with that film.) My friend used to compare me to Neil Perry and it made me ascend to a higher plane but I also think it was a thinly veiled reminder that I was a miserable gay theatre kid
Fantastic Mr Fox - When I was a kid I'd fall asleep to the audiobook of Roald Dahl's Fantastic Mr Fox so I think it really imprinted on my brain
Home Alone
High Fidelity - My favourite of all time I fear...
Almost Famous (sense the pattern perchance)

Brambletown is wild
I thought that it was just a cutesy visual album, but it has some truly out of pocket moments. I don't mean this in a "this kids show is DARK and EDGY and ACTUALLY FOR ADULTS" way, because it is still for kids and there's nothing wrong with that, but well, just look at the moments below:
"And old rotten fruit starts smellin' like wine" - alcohol references on a special that aired on PBS Kids. They must be getting really lenient.
"But we gotta start fixing what's broken / or we'll throw the whole town away" - what did they mean by this?
"Or we'll throw the whole world away" - I guess this means that we should recycle stuff or else the world will end?
"Sometimes I lay by the side of the road / gettin' thoughts out of my head / But they say that's just a waste of time / and they call it playin' dead"
During the possum song, Possum sees a vision of two animals burning down the forest, accompanied by the line "to think about life and death"
Tumblr media
"We all got scars when we dredge up the past / by unearthin' pain, the pain won't last" - I actually love this line, it's deep
"Turnin' right into wrong and wrong into right" - what did they mean by this? Fox and Badger must be doing some nefarious things
"Lightnin' Bug's yellin' that his butt's on fire" - you don't usually hear "butt" in a preschool show
One song is about a fox and a hare who are in love, but after one disagreement, the hare dumps him and just up and leaves. This song is really sad but also deep
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Badger gets so depressed that he starts drinking maple syrup, which makes his stomach ache and his paws shake. It sounds like he's an alcoholic
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He then goes to Dr. Mole and says that his "body is fallin' apart" - aka what too much alcohol does to you
Then Badger goes to a cliff and "stare[s] down at death" - was he planning to commit suicide?
Tumblr media
Fox and Badger have an argument, Badger spills the potion that Dr. Mole gave him, which leads to the entire town burning down. This is another tearjerker. Since it was specifically the potion that led to the town's demise, does that mean it would have killed Badger if he drank it?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was all very unexpected, especially since it aired on a preschool channel, but honestly, I welcome it. Not everything in life is happy. The sad moments in our lives are just as important as the happy ones, and I think this is an important message to send to kids. Plus, even though the town was burned down, they rebuilt it, showing that they have the power to heal even after trauma.
More of this please. This can go toe-to-toe with the likes of Fantastic Mr. Fox, Coraline, The Brave Little Toaster, Don Bluth movies, and Miyazaki movies. These movies may be for children and families, but they are not afraid to get dark and depressing and have compelling storylines. Kids are very capable of digesting complex topics, and I hope we get more movies and shows like Brambletown in the future
