truly wild how driving really does become like piloting a mech after a while. like it sounds so car-bro-y but the car genuinely does become like an extension of your body. your muscles are simply making the correct micro-movements to perfectly manouvre a giant piece of machinery through a constantly moving maze while your brain is busy singing karaoke. you can physically feel when a gap is too small for your car-sona to fit through, like a cat putting its whiskers into a crevice. your brain is suddenly able to do on-the-fly s=d/t calculations in a milisecond and tell you exactly how quickly you need to move to avoid an oncoming vehicle while turning across the road. why does driving unlock the unused 89% of my brain

If Izuku have had friends in Middle School how would his arc have gone down?

You know. I don’t really think Izuku’s arc is super dependent on him making friends. It’s important to him as a person, and it’s nice to see as a fan, but narratively, it wasn’t made necessary. For Midoriya’s character arc. So I’m not sure how much would’ve changed if he had friends in middle school.

I could see him, maybe not trying out for UA, if his friends were going elsewhere and he was still quirkless, maybe he’d go with them rather than trying to be a hero. I could see him not chasing down All Might, thus not gaining One for All. He might chase after heroes less and write about them less, cause he’d spend more time with friends.

He’d definitely have a growth in confidence. He wouldn’t be as nervous or afraid to speak up, maybe stand up to Bakugo earlier, but this also depends on the types of friends he has.

Cause he could also have had friends that he had to change for, like completely and that can drastically affect a person. Friends that make him do bad things out of peer pressure. Friends that maybe only have him around as the butt of a joke. Friends that use him for one reason or another. Friends Midoriya keeps around because he’s desperate for them. And that would have effects in the opposite direction.

Unfortunately, the biggest relationship Midoriya develops that really pushes his character arc is All-Might. He’s the one who inspires Midoriya, and gives him the opportunity to chase his dream. Without him, I doubt Midoriya would’ve become a hero at all. And even if he had really good friends growing up, that inspired him to chase his dreams, he still couldn’t do much on his own, while staying quirkless. Of course, there are always fics that play around with that, and there are several ways to get around it if you needed to, but I don’t think his middle school peers have the tools needed to help him become a hero.

I’ve seen fics where his UA friends go to his middle school, and then he makes friends with them earlier, but those usually only change Midoriya’s relationship with Bakugo sooner. And contrary to popular belief- Midoriya’s arc is actually all about his personal growth as a hero, and his understanding of One For All and All For One. It’s not really about his relationship with Bakugo or making any other friends at UA, or other places. 🤷🏼‍♀️ (Bakugo’s character arc is entirely dependent on becoming Midoriya’s friend, however if he hadn’t been a big bully, Midoriya probably wouldn’t have run into All Might that day).

SO- either nothing would’ve changed, Midoriya is maybe a little more confident about talking to people heading into UA, OR Midoriya ends up at a completely different school and never meets All-Might and then the story is kinda meh (truthfully, if Midoriya doesn’t get OFA and everything else in canon stays in motion- everyone basically dies 😬) But I honestly don’t see much changing.
