if I had a nickel for every time Hilda became teary eyed because a close family member was forced to chose between staying with her, or returning to live with their parents in the magical otherworld they're native to, and came THIS close to leaving her only to come around at the last minute, condemning themselves to potentially never see their parents again because the life they've built with Hilda is more important to them, their bond is unbreakable and their love eternal, and they'd move mountains to make her happy, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

I literally love comparing Lake and Tulip's designs. I think it says so much about them.

Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, and maybe that's because it's just common knowledge, but! Both Lake and Tulip have boots, and both of them have pants that don't quite reach their ankles.

And this is! Beautiful! So cool! Because Lake isn't an exact copy of Tulip, their design isn't a cheap rip-off all the way through. But these similarities also accentuate how different they really are.

They both wear boots but Tulips are obviously softer. Insulated. The kind of thing you slip on and wear around. Lake's are closer to work boots. They have laces and are more about durability then practically (slip ons).

And Tulip's pants are some sort of leggings or tights- something that sticks close to the skin. They're also layered! Lake's pants lack layers and also stick out. There's a gap and you can tell that their wants might not be baggy, but none of their clothes is something I would call form-fitting.

Even when she gets a new design, she's wearing jeans, and you can see where the bend if her knee is. Which isn't clear on Lake unless they're moving.

All of Tulip's reiterations are also splash of color and some neutral tones. Which like! If Lake was trying so desperately to be the opposite of Tulip, there's no way they'd wear black and gray. Tulip literally wore black and gray for the entire first season!

But Lake owns the neutral tones. Instead of letting their skin be some sort of neutral accent, they made wearing neutral colors a trait of their's. It's just who they are.

Also Tulip always seems to wear long sleeves, possibly because she's Minnesotan and it's cold here 70% of the year, or maybe she just thinks they're comfy. Lake has no sleeves whatsoever. It makes me wonder if they hate wearing too many layers or things that are too tight. If that makes them feel a little trapped or restricted.

I have no idea where I was going with this or if any of this really makes sense. I just love these two kids. I love parallels. I love learning about characters through their designs.

people acting as if laios can Do No Wrong and infantilizing him because he is autistic are annoying as hell. especially because laios belongs to my favorite genre of character: "person who desperately wants friends and deep relationships because they're lonely, and while part of their problems stem from people not wanting to understand them and refusing to meet them where they are, they also genuinely come across in a way where you Completely Understand why others can get turned off from them"

We all talk about disagreeing with fan interpretation of characters and the “he would not fucking say that” phenomenon, but shoutout to the horrifying experience of looking back on your own old posts/comments with the dawning realization that you used to have some really bad takes back in the day

shows ive Done -- hunchback of notre dame def had the coolest set <3 here i got a picture of it too IT WAS SO SICK !!!! i was apart of the choir :)

the best score is sooo tricky. probably a tie between hadestown (which im currently doing) and hunchback! i love hadestown so fucking much, but hunchback is such. like a grand musical and its such a lovely blend of musical theatre and choir music (im a huge choir kid and was in the choir of this show). also hunchback made me appreciate latin <3 hadestown is so damn beaytiful tho like ugh. perfection.

best castinggggg. probably when i was in wozard of oz!! our scarecrow, lion, and tinman were just. so so perfect. same with out glinda shes so perfect like soprano and all that. we also. had someone play toto. which was really funny like it was a puppet when she was in kansas and when she was in oz, it was a human playing toto it was so funny. wizard of oz was a very goofy show so it was just so fun :)

So, the thing with youtube word censorship is..... it isn't actually a thing. Very much youtube DOES restrict monetisation based on content, which can include sensitive topics like rape or suicide, youtube does! not! audio monitor most words!!

Yes, you can be demonetized for heavy, strong language or strong language in the first seconds. You obviously can be for like, slurs. Otherwise, you can't be demonetized for word use!*

*there is more nuance to this, but generally yes

I'm not like arguing with anyone in particular or defending youtube as a free speech haven, but it drives me mad when people diminish a serious topic by being afraid to say 'abuse' out loud, you know? When you upload a video, you get a form to fill and you have to flag if it has significant difficult content (shock/controversy/guns/sex/swearing).

(the see more here is much much more specific, this is things like suicide, self harm, eating disorders, etc)

Most of the time you won't have to flag any of it, because brief casual mention is fine. If you do have to flag, the lowest tier of discussion still rarely would result in losing any ad money. Notably, language used is not a specific factor, it's content.

This is also even more true for on screen text. There are certain things about explicit language being censored, fuck vs f--k, but the word suicide? does not need to be censored! You can put a trigger warning in right away, using many tricky words, and as long as your video isn't classified as for kids you should be scot-free.

Like, I know.

(It's all just born from the fear of 'the algorithm' which might be secretly monitoring audio to secretly censor things.)
