The curse of remembering is so incredibly real, Re:Zero has a whole Thing™ with memories and it drives me absolutely insane. One of my favorite implications is Subaru questioning if his love for the people around him is inherently different from their own love due to how one-sided the nature of Return By Death is

Like, he remembers them in so many different contexts, he's seen the worst sides of them and came out of it loving more than ever before, and while the others have seen Subaru as some of his most vulnerable and volatile states, they haven't seen him in the same light he has. His love is a weird sense of trauma bonding and "I'd love you in every timeline" while they love Subaru in a way that's similar, but a lot less doomed by the narrative

"Do the people I love also love me?" Is just, mwah, perfect, no notes

Also Arc 1 will never not be funny to me, in their perspective Subaru just airdropped in the middle of the issue, being in no one's side, somehow knowing exactly what would happen, and he fought tooth and nail to save everyone there that btw, HE SHOULDN'T EVEN KNOW

Like how??? How did they let him get away with that??? Like Reinhard and Emilia I get, they're both matching Subaru in that chaotic freak but in a kind way energy, but Felt and Puck? Those two should've smelled bullshit from a mile away what

Also yes, pls give Subaru some love and extended amounts of therapy, dear god he needs several naps

like “wow emilia having a date with you strolling around the city of lugunica and then helping a lost kid together like one of those isekai tropes?? its a dream come true!!”

and A. Emilia tells him “we have already done that before no?” or B. “We never done that before I would love to experience that date with you!”

Like I’m thinking what if im on Subaru’s shoes experiencing RBD(aside from trauma) id genuinely forget what specific events happened like “Emilia first found and saved me from those thugs” and Lia would reply “i dont remember saving you from those thugs, wasn’t that sir Reinhard?”

on one hand maybe he has a diary to write abt it??? idk how he can evade the RBD curse if someone were to read it but maybe he can just write it in Japanese??
