mild spoilers for chapter six for my series again &. again, but i really feel the need to ramble about this, and i'd love to hear anybody's opinion on this hehe.

as i write outline chapter six (and write for chapter five), i'd like to say i couldn't wait to write the reader's face reveal in bruce's perspective. and it's not just angst, for me, this plays a very pivotal turn for the series— because bruce will spiral to insanity.

to never once see a single portrait of your second youngest child, whose presence has long been erased from the manor, not a single image, nor trace of you is sickening to the heart, even if he scours through the internet day and night for a single memoir of you, nothing— but to find your portrait in alfred's living quarters and seeing you for the first time in forever? graduating a milestone no less?

god, he's in for a ride just analyzing every aspect of your physical appearance.

the color of your eyes, the shape of your nose, the quip of your mouth, the fat in your cheeks; even the length of your lashes! god, does he brand it into the deepest parts of his mind to never forget you anymore. his pearl, his treasure.

the longer he stares, the more he notices and gazes even more, obsessive as he stands lonesome in the room with every bone in his body locking up, his eyes unable to look away from the portrait that showcases his baby child.

and there, there it is that he concludes a detail so small it's unrecognizable for someone who's seen it for his entire life; yet it's all the same triggered deranged emotions deep within him.

— you don't just share him and your mother's traits, no, your smile is also reminiscent of his mother's.

martha wayne, who'd died in his arms, laying in a pool of her blood with a bullet grazed deep inside her body. his loving mother, who caressed his face whenever he'd cry from his nightmares, who'd shown him motherly love that until now he still craves.

she died with her pearl necklace that once decorated her porcelain neck spilling to the ground and stained with crimson.

you wore pearl earrings on your graduation.

the thought alone is enough for him to just snap.

this? this is the child that he's been neglecting far too long? who shares the same, loving expression of his mother's? his child? not even a single memory could be conjured with you but fantasies now do. if your happiest moments were within the picture frame that he holds with shivering fingers at present; could your smile be any wider if you'd be with him?

how come he never once noticed? why is bruce always destined to fail left and right? why, just why is he brimming with jealousy for all the people who must've seen your smile before him, and contempt for himself that he was never there to pick you up from the police station beforehand?

bruce isn't a heckler for favoritism, but a darker part of him is motivated to take you away from wherever you are, and to never let anybody else witness his beautiful, little treasure.

he's gotham's knight, first and foremost. but he's a father, too, with goals to protect his children just like a father should.

and the things he'd do for you, his child, now? anything.

if it means he has to see that smile, then he'll turn the world upside-down.

he has to protect your smile.

i don't know the exact timeline for when ghilan'nain physically changed into what we see her as in datv, but im really attached to the idea that she didn't look like that before the veil was made. like she looked just like we saw her in solas' memory, untainted and with no extra limbs. her new form is the direct consequence of her fusing her body with anduril's blighted corpse after anduril's archdemon was slain and she died in the fade. she does not need to mourn anduril. anduril has become part of her greater whole. she would not be parted from her, even in death.

The first time Sonic went Super in Road Trip wasn't exactly as stunning to Tails as other au's and stories.

Tails is like maybe 5 here (I'm not actually that organized on the timeline for this au yet, I'm getting there though, things are getting in order.) and he wasn't forced to grow up and be a hero in this au. So he's a bit more childish than canon Tails because he doesn't feel as pressured to mature and grow up fast. Plus, he genuinely thinks Sonic is going to die and this is the last time he see's him, so tears are bound to come down.

So after reading the Post about Jopsons Flogging by @handfuloftime I went down a research rabbit hole because I wanted to see if their exist sufficient & specific enough Data to accuratly compare his punishment and put it in the historical context.

I found this Website, which features the two tables from the Parlamentary Papers and their Source.

(Note: The tables on the website are incomplete and inaccurate in certain places. I compared it from top to bottom to the original source and corrected/added the informations in my table.)

I used that as a basis for my own table, where I also added Averages and Sliders so people can search the Informations!

(Apparently Sliders don't work on Mobil, and I don't know enough about Google Sheets how to fix it :/

If anyone knows or if you find a some kind mistake please let me know.)

This week I visited the University Libary, which has access to the Parlamentary Papers Online, to see if such tables also exist for earlier years but sadly 1845 was the first year where they went into such Specifics.

(I hope to add some of the Years after 1846 to the table, when I can.)

Reading no Order 66/no Empire AUs is an experience.

On the one hand, yay these characters I think deserve better get to have a better fate! It's so good! Everything and everyone is so happy!

And then I remember that Luke and Leia are coming along, and there's generally nothing stopping Anakin and Padme from trying to raise them, and I realize that there a couple of characters that are going to suffer in ways they don't deserve to.

Art's relationship with food is so important to me. Obviously, we know tennis and Tashi keep him on a strict diet with all the electrolytes and the green juices and shit, just another way he's restricted in his adult life. But when he's with Patrick he eats all kinds of unhealthy fatty foods freely (honorable mention to how Patrick uses food for flirting). And I don't think it's not only a representative of his relationship with each of them, it's also a reflection of Patrick's and Tashi's personalities and how Art just absorbs them, does that make any sense??? The churro scene, Patrick saying Art's dreaming about eating hamburgers again, the barely touched Applebee's dessert. I think it's all so telling of their dynamics. But I don't know, I might just be obsessed with food.

And don't get me started with the oral fixation...

A part of the reason I love the idea of twobats so much is because I love the idea of the tragedy happening in the first year or two of Robin. Like. Little Dick Grayson, warming up to not only bruce, but Harvey too, who always comes over and reads to him, teases Bruce, and shows dick all of the fun little ways and places Bruce and he used to sneak off to for mischief around the manor.

Like, Dick looking back on it and remembering him fondly while also remembering Harvey's downfall-- How scary, as a child, to have trusted someone so much and watch them become a shadow of themselves so sharply, and to even have to fight them at their worst. To ask Bruce every time he came back from an arkham visit how Harvey's doing and knowing he's not old enough to be able to visit his uncle Harvey himself because the man is dangerous.

And I even imagine, sometimes, Dick standing outside of Bruce's office during the time Harvey spent in the hospital and overhearing Bruce talk to alfred about how scared he is for his friend. Bruce whispering, "He means everything to me, Alfred. What am I supposed to do without him?" And dick, outside the door, clutching a stuffed Zitka and feeling just as lost.

Like, I love the idea of dad!harv, but in my head it's always been for Dick.
