It's been said before but I will say it again. Lily and James would've loved Ginny.

James would joke about the Potters being 'cursed' to always fall in love with gingers.

Ginny would nerd out about Quidditch with James and would've loved pranking their significant others together.

Lily would want to know everything about their relationship(if they wanted to tell her of course). And Harry would regularly come to her for advice.

The first time James met Ginny he tried to be tough because "hey this is the girl that his son fell in love with!," he's gotta make sure she's worthy. That lasted all of 5 minutes.

Lily and Ginny would bake together. Neither are very good at it but it's their bonding time.

They compare their getting together story and James is like: "So you didn't have to constantly bother her???" Lily just rolls her eyes at him.

i find it strange that it’s a huge headcanon in the fandom that lily and james ‘rushed’ into marriage just because james got lily pregnant like.. c’mon.

they both knew they wanted to get married before they even had sex, maybe two or three dates into their relationship. and it’s absolutely terrifying when you realise that the person you’re holding hands with really is the person you’re meant to spend the rest of your life with even though you’re only seventeen and being married isn’t something that has ever crossed your mind because there’s a war going on and you don’t know if you’re gonna even make it to twenty.

but yeah. yeahhh. that’s exactly what happened to james and lily potter. they found a soulmate, a life partner in one another, and they couldn’t wait to get married and do it all together; to share a vow and a future and a home, to live under one roof and be there for each other through it all, to become one and to grow together.

and they weren’t held back by the same struggles that usually hold back other pairs of lovers; they were financially stable, and they’d both completed their education and were in the same stages of their lives. nothing stood in their way. they were ready to get married the moment they’d left hogwarts.

so no, they didn’t rush. it wasn’t because of an unexpected baby or a war haunting them; they didn’t get married because they thought they were running out of time. they got married because they couldn’t wait to spend the rest of their lifetimes together.

lily who leans in closer to james while he does his homework (something he never does bc he doesn't need to) to whisper "good job" into his ear. and james who lights up like a christmas tree, who flushes so bad you can see it on the other side of the castle

James Potter who knows how to take care of long hair. He learned how to properly section and brush it, how to braid, how to make a bun, how to trim split ends, how to pick the right products, how to clean it, how to take care of curls, all of it. Lily doesn’t understand— his hair is constantly a mess and he only uses high-end product because his dad makes it. Then, she walks into the dorm towards the end of seventh year to see him sitting on a bed, a very disheveled Sirius in front of him, slouching and half-dead looking, while James gently brushes out his freshly-washed, mid-back length hair.

James, being the amazing friend and brother he is, learned how to take care of hair because he knows how much Sirius’ hair means to him, but he gets depressed sometimes and can’t do it, himself.

will never get over canon james potter drawing L. E. inside a snitch on his paper. he's the HP version of a girl drawing her initials w her crush's inside a heart. anyone who tells you that your sparkly glitter pen, romantic, sweetheart james potter isn't an accurate characterisation of him can go to hell.

How James first tried to tell Lily he was in love with her:

He wrote a note.

While it should have been simple, it rlly wasn’t. He wanted to tell her that he loved her, because he did, but it was outright and he was terrified of coming off odd.

Then Remus suggested that he simply write it as “ily” so that he did. It felt like a good compromise.

Until he passed the note too Lily and she replied with “you missed a pretty important letter in my name Potter. I underestimated your stupidity”

The note said “ ily Evans”
