as we enter the start of a semester and the dreaded Hour of Making Friends us upon us... if ur ever at a loss for what to say in one of those weird social situations where you only vaguely-know people, one of my favorite questions to ask is "what is your favorite food crime." a food crime is like the food combination that you love that other people find revolting. press them to take it further than pineapple on pizza, that's rote. food crimes is a good topic that has many benefits as it turns out all people are degenerates and also it will give you some cool ideas to try out later in the privacy of your own degenerate kitchen
the other good thing to ask is "okay but has anyone here ever been someplace haunted" bc it turns out if you ask most people directly they don't believe in ghosts, but many people are like "oh yeah i lived in a haunted house. ghosts aren't real tho"
#my food crime is that i regularly make a “pasta and tuna” situation that has somehow gotten even more evil and degenerate over time.#it is a ''white wine reduction'' (it's just white wine and garlic powder & seasoning)#and tuna from a can.#and plain pasta.#if i have the spoons i will actually chop garlic for it but this tends to be my comfort food for a REALLY bad day#bc its super easy to make:#boil pasta. drain. put into bowl for later. into same pot u used for pasta.#put tuna (with oil/water from can). let fry a little for like 2-3 min. put in whatever amount of wine. season to taste.#the tuna will get a little crisp on it which is nice. important side note:#this began as a Bolognese sauce.#and one day i had to sub for tuna. i know. not ideal. i cried about it too.#somehow over time it is now its own little evil thing. i would never make someone else eat it. it is beautiful.#but yeah i don't even stir the pasta in afterwards i just slap pasta into serving bowl#slap this ''''''sauce'''''''' on top#molto bene#(i really can cook fairly well btw. this is a food crime. not a suggestion of skill or ability)#(i LOVE baking but when i cook for myself. the autism is obvious. bc i just don't understand the point of most of the steps)#(.... i can just eat the deli meat out of the bag. it is protein. i don't even have to like it. i just have to eat enough calories.)#(also i used to cook MUCH more before this apartment which is so small that i can stretch my arms out and overreach the counter length.)#(.... i'm 5.2. so.)

Danny and Jason flirting but it’s just them talking about food and sharing recipes
Danny: that’s some juicy looking pan roasted chicken you have there… can’t help but notice you have some… brown bits left on the pan…
Jason: Oh yeah? And what do you think I should do about it?
Danny: sauté some onion and deglaze with some red wine, make a nice luscious pan sauce
Jason: Hmmmm… personally I was thinking shallots… something a little subtler… teasing even… maybe take some butter and… mount the sauce
Danny: Yes chef
#dp x dc#dp x dc crossover#dp x dc prompt#dpxdc#dead on main#danny fenton#jason todd#cooking#flirting through food#for context mounting a sauce is a French cooking technique#it means taking cold butter and incorporating it into the sauce for added richness#can be a little tricky since it can break and make the sauce oily instead#but just keep the pan moving constantly and you’re probably fine#it really upgrades a quick pasta sauce for an easy dinner

Hey guys random but I wanna share this spinach pasta recipe I improvised the other day bc it's really east and tasty and a nice way to eat my greens... I've eaten it for the last several meals lol
sauce recipe (1 serving)
fresh spinach several(3?) handfuls (blended with sauce)
oat milk ~1/3 c (or a diff unsweetened milk)
small pat of butter(flavor) + 3 spoonfuls olive oil
lots of black pepper + couple shakes garlic powder (or minced garlic)
tiny pat of miso/deonjang (if u dont have it, just add more cheese, or some salt to taste)
Lots of pecorino romano or parmesan cheese (or both)
+
more handfuls spinach to eat w pasta whole, opt (several/3 handfuls; keep in mind spinach shrinks a lot when cooked) (cooked in microwave, with sauce liquid)
more cheese, black pepper, parsley etc for serving
Note: need a blender to make the spinach sauce green. I used a small bullet blender. If you don't have a blender, just cook and eat the spinach pieces whole alongside the pasta instead of blending it w the sauce, like an alfredo cream sauce.
With whole spinach pieces:
>combine sauce ingred in tall, microwave safe bowl except spinach & cheese; microwave 30 sec to melt butter/miso and mix thoroughly
>add several handfuls of spinach to the sauce liquid; this is the whole spinach pieces.
>cover + microwave for 1 min /until the spinach leaves are completely wilted and tender but still green
if u dont have a blender you'd be done here (microwave longer to reduce, add more cheese/oil to make it thicker, etc)
>add 2-3 handfuls fresh spinach into bullet blender and pour in most of the sauce liquid; Blend until fully broken down into a creamy green sauce. (add a splash more milk if it's not blending)
>combine w rest of sauce in the bowl; add cheese and microwave 30+ sec more uncovered (*i add cheese at the end bc it's harder to blend with the spinach)
Without whole spinach pieces (just green sauce): combine all sauce ingred Including spinach into bullet blender; blend until fully combined; transfer to bowl & microwave 1 min + longer as needed to reduce (uncovered)
Pasta:
> boil pasta in salted water according to directions (go a min under and test if its cooked, for al dente pasta)
> drain + return to pot, add the sauce + stir
note: if doing this method u can also make the sauce in the same pot instead of using a microwave; after draining the pasta, leave it in strainer, and make the sauce in the same pot and simmer... turn up the heat to boil + reduce as desired, then add the pasta back in and stir until hot. (If i was making a bigger portion for multiple ppl i'd prob do this)
USING LEFTOVER COOKED PASTA (this is what i did, bc i had made a lot of pasta a few days ago, and had the leftovers stored in fridge):
> microwave pasta by itself in a bowl/plate for 1 min, covered
> add the hot sauce on top of hot pasta (microwave first if it's not hot enough)
(^i microwave sauce + pasta separately to ensure the pasta stays al dente btw... if u microwave sauce with pasta it gets soft)
(If making large batches ahead I'd store the pasta and sauce separately for the same reason... I'd prob do the same thing I did, make a large batch of pasta and then make the sauce right before eating... I just hate soft pasta tho so if u dont then dw abt it🫡 lol)
> Top w extra cheese, black pepper, parsley and serve/eat immediately!!
#food#pasta#spinach#spinach pasta#recipe#my recipe#cooking#easy meals#its rly easy and tasty... and its easier to eat spinach this way lmao#if u dont want to eat the whole spinach pieces blend all the spinach w the sauce#its rly delicious... ive eaten this for the past 3 meals to use up my leftover pasta#and its so good...#if u added basil leaves too thatd basically be pesto...#i dont have basil rn tho#i like this bc it reminds me of that peruvian dish that i rly like... what was it called?#green noodles...#*googles* tallarines verdes... i should try actually making that sometime its prob not much harder#but for now i rly like this recipe and wanted to share... success...

I want to talk about this page in particular because the implications here are so riveting.
Lavi is currently 19. Allen is believed to be 16.
Which means that either
The Bookmen are lying
Bookman Jr. did die then and Allen either didn't age the first few years or his age got fucked up multiple times before he met Mana
The first seems highly improbable at this point tbh. If the Bookmen were planning to make Allen take the poison to make him remember his past then lying about when Past!Junior (presumably) died seems counterintuitive and would only make Allen mistrust them more once he was in full possession of his memories.
It doesn't seem like Allen de-aged to an infant. He says his earliest memories are from when he was in the circus. Even if he did age back to an infant, he would've needed caretakers and nothing in the story suggests he had any.
(Note how little Allen doesn't have his Innocence in the last panel. What the fuck does this mean Hoshino.)
Allen looks perhaps 4-5 in both of these panels. If Past!Junior died over 19 years ago and Allen aged linearly since then, then he would have to be 23+ by now. Even considering the possibility that he aged back to an infant, he he should be 19+ by now and he looks barely over 17.
We can assume that he must've aged in a somewhat even fashion once he joined the circus because otherwise the performers would've commented on it at some point of time.
What happened in the years between Junior dying and little Allen getting into the circus? Was he in a child's body till he acquired his Innocence? How did he even acquire his Innocence in the first place?
There's also a final possibility that came to me while I was writing this post— Lavi was born while Past!Junior was still alive. He was born with the 'mark' because Past!Junior was no longer fit to be a Junior. I genuinely have no idea how Hoshino will explain this. Will it be some sort of corruption? Memory loss? Chronic illness?
All of them seem equally unlikely options at this point. But so did the possibility of Allen and Bookman Jr. being different people before this chapter :)
Either ways, this was a very intriguing chapter and I'm looking forward to whatever Hoshino has in store for us.
#also really curious abt the whole blood thing#i had a little theory abt bookmen's powers being related to their eyes and bookmen tying their memories to their juniors#(with or without the eye powers)#so that if something happened to one the 'records' would automatically pass on to the other and the chronology would not be broken#but i don't think i have the energy to articulate all that before the next release#so y'all can have the short version of it in the tags#also interesting to note how the past!allen we see in 251 has short hair but the pasta in 215 has longer hair#(that looks surprisingly similar to junior's hairstyle)#was there a purpose to him growing out his hair or could he just have not been bothered to cut it#anyway it's really cool to see hoshino use her medium to its full potential#this wouldn't have been easy to pull off had dgm been any form of coloured media#all things aside nea's polycule sure was crazy huh#no wonder hoshino nerfed him#ALSO interesting to note how nea not once comments on allen being alone#which means he couldn't have predicted junior deciding to become allen's(and by extension his) protector#anyways fascinating chapter. can't wait for more#dgm#d gray man#d. gray man#allen walker#past!allen#lavi dgm#past!bookman junior#dgm spoilers#dgm 251#text#🍀
