My opinion about Harry Potter Ships (1/2)

Hinny (Harry Potter/Ginny Weasley): NO. Just NO. Please their romance was so forced and there was no chemistry between them in the movie (and I watched the movies before reading the books... so yeah, it affected my perception about them) 👎

Romione (Ron Weasley/Hermione Granger): In the books they were a better couple- but in the movie their development was almost null- so no thanks. 😬

Harmione (Harry Potter/Hermione Granger): "They're just friends". Still a better ship than Hinny/Romione tho. Their interactions were far more beautiful than any other ship involving Harry or Hermione. 🙌

Ronarry (Ron Weasley/Harry Potter): If I was Harry and I had to chose a Weasley to date with- I would choose Ron. Not saying anything else. 🧡🤎

Dron (Draco Malfoy/Ron Weasley): Enemies to lovers. Enemies to lovers. Enemies to- (Besides, their families don't like each other so they would be Romeo/Juliet coded) 💞

Drarry (Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter): I'm a fan of Slytherin/Gryffindor pairings, and a fan of rivals to lovers so- I LOVE DRARRY SO MUCH. 😍😍😍😍

Dramione (Draco Malfoy/Hermione Granger): It's literally like a straight version of Drarry- SO I'M IN! 💖

Huna (Harry Potter/Luna Lovegood): I tell you, I ship them more than I ship Romione/Hinny. Although I have never read a fic of them, they had cute moments. ☺️

Linny (Ginny Weasley/Luna Lovegood): Luna is a Ravenclaw. Ginny is a Gryffindor. Ravenclaw is Blue. Gryffindor is Red. I LOVE RED-BLUE PAIRINGS. 💖💖

Pansmione (Pansy Parkinson/Hermione Granger) & Blaron (Blaise Zabini/Ron Weasley): Another Slytherin/Gryffindor pairing? And another enemies-to-lovers? And also lesbian/gay? Hell YES. 💞💞💞💞

Hedric (Cedric Diggory/Harry Potter): Their relationship in the fourth movie/book was cute and pure and I will never forgive them for killing Cedric. He was a good friend to Harry and he could have been more than that :(

Chedric (? (Cedric Diggory/Cho Chang): Yes. Just yes. I don't know why, but they are so cute for me. 🥺

Charry (Harry Potter/Cho Chang): This might be controvesial but I like them (definitely more than Hinny). They were kinda cute.

Dransy (Draco Malfoy/Pansy Parkinson): I don't know what to think about this. Part of me says "They're besties". The other part says "They look cute together". Let's say I'm more inclined to say YES. 😉

Lunsy (Pansy Parkinson/Luna Lovegood): It's a Slytherin/Ravenclaw pairing. That's all I need to know. Just yes. 💙💚💙💚💙💚

Hansy (Harry Potter/Pansy Parkinson): It's like Drarry but the love interest is a girl instead of a boy. So it's a yes for me.

Nuna (Neville Longbottom/Luna Lovegood): You know for one moment I thought they would be canon and I shipped them-

Deamus (Dean Thomas/Seamus Finnigan): They belong together. I don't accept objections. 😆😆

Flintwood (Marcus Flint/Oliver Wood): Two captains, one from Gryffindor and the other from Slytherin, in a relationship? Yes.

Blamione (Blaise Zabini/Hermione Granger) & Ronsy (Ron Wealey/Pansy Parkinson): They're like Pansmione and Blaron but with the love interest reversed so YES.

Ginmione (Ginny Weasley/Hermione Granger): Friends to lovers? Two Gryffindor? A sapphic ship? Perfect. ✨

Dinny (Dean Thomas/Ginny Weasley): They were canon but they're not my thing. I prefer Ginny with Hermione/Luna and Dean with Seamus.

Drastoria (Draco Malfoy/Astoria Greengrass): Not my thing neither but I guess they're good. 👌

Druna (Draco Malfoy/Luna Lovegood): I ship Draco with Harry/Ron/Hermione so it's a no for me. Besides I see them as besties. 😔

Chomione (Cho Chang/Hermione Granger): Never thought of it but it seems interesting. 👀

Fremione (Fred Weasley/Hermione Granger): It's not bad but If I were Hermione and I had to date a Weasley- I would choose Ginny. But they're not a bad ship ;)

Geormione (George Weasley/Hermione Granger): The same argument as the previous ship.

Lovander (Rolf Scamander/Luna Lovegood): They're okay but not my thing.

Opinions Part 2

Part 2 of the opinions- this time, on ships that seem to be pretty popular. Sorry again for how long this is!

Hinny- Okay. It was the absolute best in the books, complete bi4bi and I was THERE for it. In the movies it was quite bad, and GInny was just generally so incredibly flat as a character. I like the idea of this coming into play, but maybe not as endgame.

Linny- Love this. The whole thing. I can see it being friends to lovers and then back to friends, but it could be something else, too.

Perciver- Why did nobody tell me about this? Hello? It's completely adorable and I love it beyond words. Absolutely endgame.

Romione- there's an artist (@rivaldii) who I've been following, and they do the cutest Romione posts that have totally won me over. Also, I've been reading the book series again (all already bought, not supporting You-Know-Who) and Ron is much sweeter there. He's a bit of an asshole in the movies at times.

Drarry- Welllll, okay. There's a lot of dickheadery from Malfoy, and I'm not sure how to address that. If he was just a sarcastic emo kid that would be fine, but he's like genuinely kind of a racist? Idk someone convince me, I'm not quite sold. I do have some an idea where he does something over a summer away from his parents (maybe when his fathe goes to Azkaban) which shows him how dumb he's been and then he apologizes. Like individually. And Harry's like woahhh.... okay now hold up.

Neville and Luna- I loved this even when I was, like, eight and still thought I was straight lol. They feel like they would be at the very least really good friends who sort of got each other, they were both singled out as odd at Hogwarts, but I think it could be a romantic thing too.

Katie and Leanne- Just you wait. I'm going to develop them into the lesbianest.

Parvender- It's sweet! It works much better in the books as I feel like Lavender is really heavy on the straight vibes in the movies. I suppose we shall see..... hmmmm.....

Dramione- Nope. Absolutely nope. My boy Draco is gay as absolute fuck and even has some internalized homophobia, yay.....

Hedric- this was Harry's bi awakening and you can't tell me otherwise.

Wolfstar- Yeah, I'm boring, but this is my favorite and will be included.

Deamus- Wolfstar variant right in Harry's room?! I love it and they're perfect for each other.

Harry and Ron- You know, it could happen. I think I might like Ron and Hermione a little too much at the moment to consider it fully.

Draco and Pansy (Dransy?!)- This happened because neither one had figured out that they were gay yet. This was how they figured it out.

Hermione and Pansy (oh, boy. Hansy? Like Handsy?)- Yeah, she was Hermione's bi awakening. Idk if endgame but shit went down fs.

Jegulus- It's not too relevant to the era because.... they're all dead (sobbing).... but I really want to hint at it.

Jily- It has to have been endgame for how I plan to start it, but it's cute anyway. Bi4bi.

Barty and one of them (can't decide at the moment)- There's a whole year where Barty is a teacher. Therefore he's in Hogwarts. Therefore I can be in his brain. And it will be gay.

Harmione- I see them more as best friends who are both bi, and talk about their crushes together.

Apparently I had more to yap about than I thought, sorry for the length of this. Lmk if I forgot some!

i think this has potential, in that hermione is demonstrably a francophile and one of the few people on earth who has the bulletproof sense of self-righteousness to cope with fleur's ego.

but i think it's not to last. hermione is clearly someone who likes a wife guy [of any gender] uncomplicatedly adoring her. she's going to have a low tolerance for "but your 'air would look so much better eef you just paid attention to eet".

draco malfoy/pansy parkinson

genuinely the relationship in canon [with the possible exception of harry's flop with cho] which feels the most authentically teenage. pansy, baby, he's really not that into you.

luna lovegood/draco malfoy

this got its own shoutout from another mystery anon:

i get it - we all love the "repressed posh boy falls for a free spirit" archetype - but i'm afraid to say it's not a ship i think is watertight, simply because it seems to require so much alteration of both draco and luna's canon personalities in order to make that archetype work.

[by which i mean it's always manic-pixie-dream!luna and suave!draco, two ways of writing them which never, ever slap for me.]

[i also don't like the fanon that she's a pureblood. "xenophilius lovegood" as a name fits the conventions the series uses for half-blood characters (that is, combining an unusual, non-standard-english name with an english surname - see also "mundungus fletcher", "tom marvolo riddle" and "severus snape"), and xenophilius'... esoteric views don't seem - to me - to be plausibly held by someone who is an inherent insider to a community, but by someone who feels peripheral to that community's inherent knowledge and therefore invents his own theories as a way of filling in the gaps.]

cedric diggory/harry potter

harry is canonically desperate for it - since cedric tells him to go gargle his old bathwater and he does.

but it's one-sided, i fear. cedric is demonstrably the hottest boy in school and harry is canonically scrawny and mid.

real ones know that the true potential lies with shipping cedric with ron, thus bringing about the heat death of the universe when harry's unexamined bisexuality catches sight of them canoodling.

daphne greengrass/harry potter

full respect [genuinely] to the self-insert-mary-sue girlies for turning this into a ship with its own lore. harmony nation walked so haphne nation could run.

by which i mean, sure, they work really well as a couple because daphne literally doesn't exist and - therefore - doesn't require the author to think about things like "making her canon personality compatible with harry's".

harry potter/blaise zabini

blaise couldn't pick him out of a line-up, be real.

ron weasley/blaise zabini

this, in contrast? true and plausible.

blaise canonically thinks that ginny's tasty, which means he's not going to turn down her fit, tall, sporty, easy-going brother.

that draco would be rattled is part of the fun.

Pairing: Draco x Pansy (but also Draco x Harry in fantasy)

Summary:

She wants Draco to say it. She wants to give him everything. She wants it so much she’s choking with it.

Draco throws his head back, eyes shut in defeat.

“His fingers,” he says. “His fingers in me.”

In which Pansy helps her best friend get off to thoughts of Harry Potter.

Why I recommend it:

Now this prompt was hard! As a multishipper of epic proportions, I'm pretty liberal about the pairings I'm willing to read. It would probably be easier for me to list the ships I will not read than the ones I do, even sparingly.

Draco and Pansy is not a pairing that I would usually care to read for many reasons, but I'd rather talk about the reasons I did. This is the most beautiful lavender arrangement fic, it hurt so good. They both have so much love for each other, but they are not in love, that much is apparent. The bond that Draco and Pansy share surpasses friendship and even romantic relationship. They understand each other on a level that approaches soulmate territory, but despite the fantastic sex they are having, it's purely platonic.

I originally started to read this for the same reason you press on a bruise: I wanted drarry angst, no comfort. Instead, I found a beautiful story about the love that Pansy and Draco have for each other despite any and all difficulties and challenges. Pansy knows that her relationship with Draco was doomed from the start, especially now that the war is kicking off. Draco was never under any illusions, but he trusts Pansy like no other. This fic is them seeking comfort in each other and Pansy's desperate need to give Draco anything and everything he desires to the best of her abilities.

I wasn't expecting to enjoy Draco x Pansy smut, but apparently, when Draco is sharing his secret fantasy about Harry and Pansy is "pretending" to be him, I'm all for it.

He knew it was unfair of him to ask. He knew full well how Pansy felt for him, how she’d always felt for him.

Awe. Jealousy. Obsession.

After their betrothal: possessive.

But that was before the war. Before all of the families involved on the wrong side paid their dues for crimes committed. The betrothal was broken, his family disgraced. The Parkinsons weren’t much better, but they at the very least did not have an heir who’d plotted to kill. It was his fault that Hogwarts’ walls were breached and so many had died within the hallowed grounds of education.

Yet, somehow, here he was again. Largely acquitted of his part in the war on account of his age. “Groomed,” they’d said. “No choice,” they’d reasoned. They saddled him with house arrest, then, school arrest, tasking him with re-education and a lifetime of service to the Ministry. It was the second chance he didn’t deserve, but he’d take it, nonetheless.

Because of her. Hermione Granger.

She’d made the passionate argument that likely led to his freedom. They hadn’t even come close during the proceedings, but when he staggered out and passed the podium where she’d stood, he picked up notes of vanilla, cinnamon, and, if he concentrated hard enough, a hint of fresh parchment. It was a combination he knew well, because he’d smelled it before.

In Sixth Year. Potions.

His Amortentia.

The reminder stirred the blood pumping in his veins, reawakening impulses he’d thought buried and dead. And it kept happening. She was everywhere in Hogwarts–in the corridors where he walked, wafting up from the library’s books, front and centre in their shared classes.

He couldn’t take it anymore.

“Are you sure about this?” His voice trembled–how he hated the desperation in the question.

“I’m sure.” Long lashes framed the green eyes he thought he’d look at for the rest of his life.

“Go on, then.”

Excitement stirred in his gut as he watched her upend the vial. Her throat bobbed as she swallowed. He waited, wanting to make sure the Polyjuice took.

The moment her skin started bubbling, he picked up his self-brewed vial, the mother-of-pearl sheen that was Amortenia spiralling upward in invitation. He closed his eyes and breathed in deep.

Vanilla. Cinnamon. Parchment paper.

He continued to suck in deep lungfuls of the heady concoction. It wasn’t until he felt the tentative touch to his arm that he pulled back, opening his eyes.

Dark windows full of longing, a slightly upturned nose sprinkled with a dusting of freckles, pouty lips that were parted and panting slightly, and that hair. Gigantic heaps of it cascading over her shoulders, crowding the space between them, begging to be touched.

“Hermione…” he whispered.

She inhaled, as if to speak, but he brought a finger up swiftly, pressing it in warning against the plush skin.

“Don’t speak. Not unless it’s my name.”

Even if the voice was the same, nothing she said would sound right. He didn’t want to be yanked out of the moment, fabricated as it was.

“Hold your breath.”

She did as instructed, and he shifted his hand to cover the lower half of her face with the entire palm. Using his other hand, he upended the potent contents of his potion over her head. It soaked in quickly, dripping past her hairline and over her furrowed brows.

The perfume came off of her in waves, nearly knocking him to his knees with the strength of his want. He tossed the bottle aside, barely registering the shatter of glass, and pressed her towards the bed. She cried out as she fell, then she, too, breathed in.

He watched in satisfaction as her eyes rolled back, the way her muscles loosened and knees parted.

“Dracoooo–”

He was on her in an instant, fingers squeezing the fragile bones of her neck. “Wrong. That’s not what she calls me.”

He could almost believe it was really her, those dark eyes on fire now as they glared up at him.

“What do you call me?” he demanded, his hold tightening.

She grabbed at his wrist, and he thought she meant to pry him off. That he’d perhaps gone too far. So it was to his surprise that she simply held on, rolling her hips to brush against the hardened length jutting towards her.

“Malfoy.”

Do you also think it’s strange there’s so few Dransy works out there depicting their toxic and non-HEA story? It’s always glossed over as something they both moved on from easily but god what would I give to dive in a pensieve of their past together…

If I ever wrote another HP multichap it would 100% be a non-HEA Muggle AU Dransy. I have a whole plot and everything. But I think the reason there aren't many Dransy fics period is that a lot of readers get actively angry reading their ship with other people. In DHr that's profoundly true for Draco and much less so for Hermione. I've actually had people bring their anger into my comments and describe feeling physically ill for the way I depicted Pansy and Draco's relationship in One and Done. I've had my fill of Booktok influencer one-star reviews on my hobby writing and don't have the emotional resiliency it would take to put even a non-HEA Dransy out there, which is a shame. It would be such a great story. But! It would make a wonderful novel. So who knows.

I'm picky about what I like in a dark fic, but this just hits in a really haunting and tragic way.

“It’ll be okay.” She stroked his head, careful, calming. She didn’t know what mysterious fate the Dark Lord had set him, but she soothed him all the same.

Hi @indigo-scarf! I always feel Draco/Pansy have such a strong bond during school. They certainly aren’t nice people, per se, but I can still see them being soft with each other when the other needs them to be.
