Ghost King & Master of Death

A meta-commentary on Danny and Harry. Think of the parallels, the potential!

(Slaps car, "you can fit so much fanon into these bad boys!")

So without further ado, let's get started.

Green eyes: green like ectoplasm, green like the killing curse

Death didn't stick: Harry is the boy-who-lived. Danny is the boy-who-died.

Death-scars: Danny is often written as having Lichtenberg scarring from the accident that killed him. Harry is famous for his lightning bolt scar, received from the killing curse.

Power thrust upon them: Danny defeated Pariah Dark to save his town. Harry collected the hallows by accident/Dumbledore to defeat Voldie. Neither wanted their titles.

Eldritch entity: MOD and GK are portrayed in fandom as beings beyond time. They are not bound to one universe. Death is all-encompassing, it reaches ever corner of the multiverse that contains life. Thus, so do they.

Eternal teenagers: Depending on the depiction, there's a lot of takes where Danny and Harry stopped aging due to their titles/species.

Tired and timeless: AKA Overpowered and overworked. There's a lot of bullshit that goes on behind the metaphysical veil apparently. Being a god-like being isn't easy. There's paperwork and shit. Being immortal sucks.

Vacation AU: What do said immortals do when they need a break? Run away to a random universe for a new start. Hey, maybe here they can finally live a normal peaceful life, right? RIGHT? (It would be a pretty boring crossover if that happened, so sorry Danny/Harry. You're getting a love-interest at the very least.)

Antagonists obsessed with their moms: Vlad and Snape

(ok, that last one was added as a joke, but im not wrong)

So. Where does that leave our deathly boys? What paths can this lead? So many.

Just two Death Gods chillin' in your dimension: Danny and Harry are work colleges, just two dudes, two pals. Every century or so they pick a universe to dip in to live and relax a little. They're just a couple a eldritch tourists, no need for the locals to get so freaked out, honest.

Summons unclear: Maybe there's some mixup over which universes fall into who's jurisdiction. So when a cult tries to summon a death god they get two. And then Danny and Harry immediately start bickering and bitching. "No, I very clearly stated that this realm was/wasn't my problem!"

Alternates: They could be alternate versions of each other. Does something go wrong with the multiverse? The balance of life and death? Maybe they take each other's places or end up body-swapped. Or they could be reincarnated versions of each other and something unlocks memories of their previous life.

Godly matchmaking: Death and Time see their protégées suffering alone and set them up to support each other. Partners through the pain of eternal responsibility. Could just be platonic.

Soulmate AU: Matching death scars are morbidly romantic, right? Or it could be a write on your skin situation, where they write to each other and only meet once they've ascended. And it comes with the bittersweet knowledge that while they were destined to be together, but they were also destined for greatness born from suffering.

Ok I want to preface this by saying fuck terfs and that I am posting this with death of the author(tm) in mind.

I’ve been completely loving all the dpxdc content that’s chokeholded me back into the fandom but a part of me misses some of the old crossover stuff like American dragon Jake long (and secret trio/quartet), supernatural, and Harry Potter. Just. So many unfinished fics lingering in my ao3 subscription pages.

So if anyone’s willing to go back and write in the hp verse (out of Just Kidding Rodentling’s sticky hands), I have a prompt!

Danny due to time travel shenanigans is somehow the ancestor of the Black family line. That’s why the traditional names are all stars and the traces of ectoplasm in the dna of all his descendants is the cause of the Black madness. Also why Sirius’s animagus form is a grim.

When back in show canon era, Danny has to come to terms that his family line is primarily known for being batshit bigots that did a lot of incest whose main branch was just wiped out in a war he never knew about.

Or maybe with some timeline finagling Danny ends up in book canon era where he looks up his last living direct descendant and finds him in wizarding jail for very bad things which doesn’t seem much better than the first option at first.

Also maybe Sirius’s dog form isn’t a grim but just Cujo.

DPxDC Hogwarts AU [pt. 1]

The first time Tim sees him, he is seven, standing by his Father's side, and bored out of his mind.

The 'party' is numbingly dull, full of adults, sparkling flutes of champagne, tiny sandwiches, and fake twinkling laughter. Tim doesn't understand how his parents find any of it interesting; in his opinion, nothing about just talking to people for hours and hours straight sounds as exciting as they make it look.

He wishes he could just go home already. Not that his time in the Drake estate gets any more exciting than bothering house elves or spending his day in the library, but it's still better than this.

Or, Tim thought so until he heard the unmistakable sound of glass shattering on the floor.

He turns around, and there are yelps and screams of surprise and angry swearing. It takes Tim a few seconds to realize what's going on - a few people are holding their hands to their faces, like trying to hide them, and he gets a glimpse of an elephant trunk peeking through the palms of one old lady.

And then, there's a sound of loud, delighted laughter ringing through the room, and the sound of footsteps, and-

"DANIEL!" Tim hears Mr. Masters, the host of the event, yell at the top of his lungs.

A moment later, Tim sees a boy zooming past him, elbowing the adults on his way to push through the crowd and still cackling like a madman. Tim doesn't get a good look at him, what with the boy running so fast he almost trips, but he does notice the messy black hair and the large, knitted blue sweater that looks too big on the boy's body.

"Daniel Jackson Fenton, come back this instant!" Mr. Masters calls again, his thunderous steps louder than all the yelling around them.

The boy doesn't even deign him with a look over his shoulder. Instead, he darts towards the nearest window, opens it with what seems to be practiced ease, and climbs on the windowsill. Only then does he look back to the chaos he created in the room full of respectable guests, and grins.

Tim blinks. He's never seen anyone smile like this, all teeth and mischief, and cheeky excitement.

"What, too old to catch me, Vlad?" He sticks his tongue at Mr. Masters, and just for a moment, Tim is scared the man is going to lunge at him. Yet, right as Mr. Masters gets close enough, the boy pushes off and jumps out the window, his laughter echoing through the night.

Mr. Masters looks like he is about to follow - and Tim is, for once, curious to see if he would - but stops himself short, only leaning out the window.

"Don't bother coming back, you little badger, you are grounded!" The man yells. The only response he gets is another fit of distant cackling from the gardens.

"That is sure a way to entertain the crowd," Father says quietly, and the tall, dark-skinned woman he's been talking to before the whole mess happened snorts a short laugh.

Tim looks back to the few people who are still sporting elephant trunks for their noses.

It's the first time he thinks a party full of adults in stuffy robes can be more fun than he expected.

I have the vaguest possible idea of where I'm going, but this is definitely going to be a multichapter thing.

A few notes I've got pinned down so far:

Drakes are a mostly pureblood family, not filthy rich and straight up focused on the whole purity thing, but keeping their reputation clean and nice, and their income stable. Both Jack and Janet have attended Hogwarts, and they were both Ravenclaws while they were at it. Janet might have some relation to Blacks, but it's so distant that she doesn't bother keeping it in mind.

Vladimir Masters is, technically, a pureblood wizard, but his family has been in England for only two or so generations. His grandma (who is still very much alive) came from Russia after falling madly in love with Vlad's grandpa (who is now deceased and, as the rumor goes, his wife had a hand in it). He also attended Hogwarts and has been a Ravenclaw in the same year as Madeline Fenton nee Walker. Hence, Daniel Fenton is his godson and, unofficially, as of right now, heir to Masters family.

DP x HP Crossover Prompt

Okay so I don’t know why I need this but I do and have been thinking about it a lot.

There aren’t that many fics where Draco and Danny are brothers but I am so here for it. Hear me out. Not twins per say , a couple years apart and Danny is most likely younger. Listen…

Danny stolen as a baby, hired by someone who lost much in the war and wanted to give the Malfoy’s what they ‘deserved’. As a way to teach then a lesson the hired kidnapper decides to leave them with muggles, but not just any muggles, witch hunters. That’s right, the Fentons continue their ancestors work of hunting the supernatural, specifically witches.

Due to some spell or artifact, Danny is unable to be tracked and the Malfoy’s are forced to believe their second son is dead. It isn’t until their son’s name is written on the envelope for his Hogwarts letter because magic. Danny is eleven and Draco is in his fourth year.

The Malfoy parents, Severus Snape who is also the boy’s godfather, and a Ministry official all go to the address on the letter and find the Fenton’s. As a whole they are not impressed with the Fenton parents or their eccentricities.

They establish they are there to talk about the boy that lives there and the Fentons are confused but sure “oh you mean our son Danny!” Both of the Malfoy’s and Snape sneer at the plebeian name which of course the Fentons don’t notice.

They call him down and Danny slows to a stop as soon as he looks over the ‘guests’. Because yes he’s made friends with the local clockmaker who is kind of a grandfather to him and is a squib. He confined in the older man about the weird things that happen around him sometimes and Clocky has answers and explains about magic. Danny knows that these people are wizards and witches. Was this about his Hogwarts letter Clocky told him he should be getting? Do they know what his parents do for a living?

Narcissa and Lucius on the other hand are staring at this boy in recognition. The coal colored hair and jawline were unmistakably from the Black side of the family. The straight nose and body shape however came from the Malfoy side. A perfect mix of both parents.

Introductions are made and they can see the understanding in the boy’s eyes when Snape says he’s the potions master at Hogwarts. The Fentons don’t catch it, but they were studying the boy with hawk-like attention.

“Potions?” The large Fenton asks suspiciously.

Before they can start explaining why they were really here, the boy, their boy speaks up nervously.

“He means chemistry! They call it differently because Hogwarts is a special school,” he lies without remorse.

Yes, this was their son.

“Special school? Like for gifted students?” The woman Fenton clarifies.

Danny glances at them anxiously.

“Yea! Like that.”

The parents don’t ask him how he knows about Hogwarts even though this should be his first time hearing of it. Instead the woman turns to them in confusion.

“Then why did you ask for Danny? Did you mean our daughter?”

“Oh! Jazzy-pants is super smart, already reading college books I tell ya!”

They don’t notice Danny’s face crumble and his confidence wither right in front of them. Narcissa wanted to tear these people apart for being responsible for the bright light in his gorgeous crystal blue eyes dimming in self-doubt.

“Actually, it is different than you are thinking, we are wi-“

“Mom, Dad, did you tell them what you do?” Danny interrupts urgently.

“Young man-“ the Ministry official continues.

“That’s a great idea, Dann-o!”

Which leads to explaining they are witch hunters and they all just stand there processing what they were just told and figuring out how to go about this. And they look at Danny who gives them a ‘see?’ look that explains the interruptions. He was protecting them.

Oh he was definitely their son.

Danny eventually goes with them because duh and he finds out the name he was born with.

“Corvus? Like the constellation? The crow?”

Narcissa is so proud of her son, he already knows the stars and the story to his name.

There are some bumps in the road with Draco and him getting along, and yelling at Lucius for mistreating the elves because they have feelings too, and adjusting to wizarding life in general.

Danny (Corvus) mets Tucker, a muggleborn who was kinda in the same boat as him with learning this whole world, and Sam, a pure blood witch who’s parents were both Hufflepuffs but her grandmother is a seer and she might have inherited that gift.

Danny on the other hand seems to have gotten a gift from his mother’s side as well. Necromancy. Thus starts their adventures of skirting around the professors to learn magic for each of them that are not encouraged. Danny with necromancy, Sam with her seer abilities, and Tucker finds an interest in runes and arithmacy.

Don’t know about an actual plot but I think the idea could have potential. It’d also be funny if all three of them get sorted together in either Slytherin or Hufflepuff. And Draco trying to be a good brother, has warned him about a bunch of things before going to Hogwarts, one of them being Harry Potter and the golden trio. The first time Danny and his friends meet the golden trio, Ron makes a comment about him whether it’s about him being another snake or another Malfoy. Danny just blinks and they just look at each other.

“My brother was right about you. You guys are bullies.” And walks passed them, Sam shoulder-checks him and Tucker gives them the stank eye.

“WHAT”

Draco just being fiercely protective of his little brother he thought was dead. Danny being the baby of the family and the parents actually trying to do better to make him happy.

I just really enjoy this for some reason.

Harry Potter x DC x Danny Phantom prompt idea

Okay so I haven't seen Danny Phantom in years but I've gotten big into Danny Phantom x DC crossovers lately thanks to tiktok (r.i.p), anyways before that I'd gotten big into Harry Potter x DC crossovers. I've even written a couple myself on ao3.

Anyways, last night, I got this idea for a 3 way crossover with Harry, Jason, and Danny. Harry would be the Master of Death, and Danny would be the Ghost King. Both of them would, for some reason or another, end up in Gotham and come across Jason, whether when he's a civilian or as Red Hood would be up to you. Whether Danny and Harry met first and then become friends before Jason comes in, it's up to you, but I do like the idea.

Maybe they're roommates at university and then are dancing around the sexual tension between them or something when Jason or Red Hood appears, and both are sold instantly. They need to drag Jason in and make themselves a throuple. Bonus points for both Harry and Danny looking like unassuming small twinks while Jason is the absolute tank of a man utterly besotted with two guys who honestly look a bit like drowned wet rats or something compared to him.

Danny, of course, would be doing a degree with aerospace engineering or any other space related degree you want to give him. I'm not sure on Harry, but I also want to throw out like over half of the bullshit from the series. He'd actually be smart and, for one, not have taken divination. I personally prefer the fics where he's in runes and arthimancy too but especially runes. Honestly, come up with whatever degree you want but I'd have it where he'd also managed to get his muggle education along with Wizarding one, he could do that after the war and before coming to Gotham if you want.

Honestly, I just really want a Harry, Danny, and Jason fic of three fucking nerds in love and stressing out Bruce because what do you mean his other son has two boyfriends as well as both of them are fucking eldritch beings that scare John Constantine who does everything in his power to avoid the two. Bonus points if you have Tim, Kon, and Bernard decide that it has become some sort of game between the two throuples to cause Bruce so much stress and panic. Oh, even more bonus points if both Alfred and Damian are aware of the Wizarding world so Alfred ends up dotting a little extra on Harry while Damian tries to work out how Harry ended up with an idiot but at least it's not Tim.
