In my D&D Adventure League game on Saturday, we were fighting a gargantuan zombie T-Rex in Chult. We'd managed to wreck it pretty good and it was basically almost dead (again), but it kept making its saves to stay alive and at 1hp. Our wizard ended up killing it with a psychic lance that did enough damage it needed a nat20 to make the save.

Which was awesome, but it prevented me, the bard, from getting a chance to upcast viscous mockery and try to kill it by singing "We hate you, you hate us, lets get together and kill Tyrannosaurus."

Discovering the lair of Anandak the red dragon (Terry Dykstra, from "League of the Red Serpent," the final climactic adventure of the 3 books included in the 1992 boxed set The Dragon's Den)

This set was labeled for use with Dungeons & Dragons, implying "not AD&D." Left unstated on the box: it was specifically designed for The New Easy to Master Dungeons & Dragons Game, which was the 1991 "basic" version of the 1991 D&D Rules Compendium. Once you open the box, the adventure books mention needing "the black basic D&D game" which describes the "New Easy to Master" game's box and book. By now the names of the separate parallel product lines had become even more confusing than before and apparently not even TSR could figure out a clear way to reference them.

I’m playing in a high level campaign for the first time and I got to try for Divine Intervention for the first time last session and it FRICKIN WORKED!!! We’re level 15 and I rolled a 12 and lost my absolute freakin mind.

And then later I rolled a nat 20 persuasion check in an interrogation type deal (real good for my +0 CHA lol)

I was talking with a friend the other day and she was telling me about how my old DnD module Tarot art was something she still loved, and I genuinely forgot all about it haha. I realized I never put it all in one place so, I thought I would make a post. I made these when I was right out of college and getting into the DnD gaming scene at a local gamestore, and a couple of DMs were writing a set of modules themed around Tarot/The Deck of many things, and they very kindly commissioned me to make some artwork for that. This was probably my first real commission project I ever did, it was a good learning experience, and I enjoyed the creative back and forth with the DMs brainstorming ideas of how to represent the content of the adventure in the cards :) I don't recall if they ever finished the story completely, but their adventures are still up on DM's Guild for anyone curious [X]

Went to one of my local comic shops today to play some D&D in their Adventure League. This was the 6th one I've gone to and one of my favorites. I play a bard who is a little on the squishy side, so I took Mirror Image this time and the first person who attacked me managed to sink both arrows. lol But, we did make over 1000gp doing mini adventures, so that was awesome.

One of my favorite bits was when we were fighting two stone constructs (not sure of the exact name). They each had a scimitar embedded into what would be their hands, so I cast heat metal on one of them specifically because I knew they couldn't drop it. Very effective.

This was also the event where I had reached level 6, which I'd been waiting for because it unlocks part of my College of Lore that lets me take two spells from any class. I took Thunderous Smite and Thunder step because I'm theming the character around thunder damage, but I didn't get to use either of them. My bard is mainly spec'd for support, but I'm moving towards more of a battle build.
