Disturbing Dreams: The Superb Bizarre Art By Miles Johnston
Miles Johnston is a British artist who paints bizarre worlds of eerie, distorted dreams. The surrealistic images that Johnston transfers to canvas are felt more by the spinal cord than by the brain – they are intuitively frightening, and for the particularly tender ones they can even trigger a panic attack of trypophobia.

Dream Diary - 21/02/2023.
I found myself in an old building, made of stone, situated on the coast, or on an island, immediately overlooking the sea. I was under the tutelage of an artist, studying his technique (even though the drawing he was making was decidedly modern - a manga-style drawing of a character with red hair and green eyes. It's just occurred to me that I know who that might be! 😊).
Tumblr media
There was some kind of hubbub outside. A police helicopter was circling and an investigation going on on the rocks below. At that point, I'm transported to a different time, as if I was having a vision within my dream.
Tumblr media
I'm now outside the building within which I was studying. From the clothing of the people around me, I was witnessing events from a few centuries ago possibly around the mid- to late 18th Century. A man garbed in a period British navy captain's uniform was scouring the rocks with members of his crew, a small fleet anchored just off the coast. He was searching for his wife and young son, who disappeared some time ago. I was told by somebody - I believe one of his crew - that his wife, an opera singer, or some singer of repute, was growing increasingly unhinged, because of a problem with their son; the boy was mute, he had never spoken and never cried, or at least, with his voice. His mother was growing increasingly distressed, that no treatment, or drug or any other attempt to make him speak met with any success and, as a person who's primary trait was her voice, his mother was finding it more and more difficult to cope and reconcile with (bear in mind that this part of the dream is set within around the 18th Century; in reality, it's likely the boy would have been institutionalised), and she herself was beginning to lose her grip on her sanity.
I then see her, as if I was suddenly floating above the location, the building where I was studying with the artist in the 'future'. She's climbing a set of steps that encircle the turret-like structure on the corner of the building that overlooks the rocks. She's wearing her undergarments; long, ivory white and blowing in the coastal breeze, and in her arms, her young son; he looks around four, possibly five years old. She steps to the edge of the roof, some fifty feet above the rocks and jumps, clutching her son in her arms. I'm immediately transported to the rocks below, seeing the captain's eyes widen in utter horror as he sees his wife and son plummet from the roof, slamming into the rocks below.
The captain drops to his knees and screams, the grief and fury in the utter breakdown of his world bringing tears to my eyes, even as I write this. The poor man goes insane. If I recall, he takes his flintlock and guns down one of the officers standing closest to him, whilst the others look on in astonishment and horror. In his insanity, he gives the order for his ship to fire upon his own fleet and, in spite of the sheer madness of the order, and his ship's distance from shore, the crew follow his order and open fire with their cannons, obliterating the fleet of around five or six ships.
Tumblr media
The dream ends in fire as the ships explode and burn, and I awake genuinely rattled and disturbed. I'm not exactly sure what it was that I found disturbing; the vividness of the dream, the insanity I witnessed, or that it's subject matter hitting a little close to home, myself having two (now adult) children who are, to varying degrees, afflicted by a condition called Selective Mutism, or all of the above, and/or something else altogether. I don't know. However, nearly twelve hours from waking from that dream, I still find myself being somewhat disturbed by it.

Prompt:
Actor Au!
Where Batman and Co. are the most popular TV series and they’re currently filming Jason’s death.
Only Bruce goes so deep into acting he breaks down for real upon the part where he arrives at the warehouse and digs through the rubble for his child.

I was in a white room surrounded by men who would periodically lean into my face and say, “You’re on your period,” in an accusatory manner. Nothing else.

A rendering practice that got a little bit out of hand. I feel like Meow Wow would have the texture of a balloon filled with water and would wrinkle a bit when picked up - that was the feel I was aiming for at least
A bonus meow wow that I drew when I was trying to figure out what's going on with their anatomy:
