Okay so uh. My cat has fleas. I have never dealt with this before. The flea meds have not gotten rid. My brain is doing Fun things about it (read nightmares and skin crawling because I do *not* like this) and uh I don't know how to fix this because I can't throw away literally everything in my house. I'm also disabled so my ability to deep clean is severely limited. My partner has been doing the bulk of it but he also works full time at a bar and has insomnia difficulties. Basically, anyone have a step by step to deal with this issue? Bonus points if you're disabled and dealt with it bc that would be helpful

seems like there's a lot of interest in talking about my experiences being a punk and interacting with our various communities. i've only been interacting with the community for a small handful of years at this point, but i lived at a punk music show house venue and visited them a long time before i lived there. i was also friends with a large circle of punks. ive interacted with a lot of punks online as well

there is a ton of unaddressed ableism in a lot of punk spaces. the 2 scenes i've noticed it the most with are the diy punk scene and the various punk music scenes

diy punks who look down on people who don't create/alter/fix all of their clothing by hand aren't helping anyone. it's great for those that can to do that if they want to, but a lot of people cant do that, or don't want to. it's not an obligation to make and fix things yourself to be punk. it doesn't matter where you purchase things from, there is no ethical consumption under capitalism. punks shouldn't be getting uppity about this. some punks have arthritis. some have injuries. some have shaky hands. some have limited motor skills. some have nerve damage. some don't have hands (or prosthetics) at all. some punks have bad backs and can't spend hours hunched over a sewing machine or thread and needle.

some punks struggle to pick up new skills or follow instructions. learning how to sew and repair things takes a lot of time and money. some people don't have the funds to spare on needles, thread, sewing machines, spikes, pins, fabric boning and so on. it costs money to gather materials to DIY anything. not everyone has scraps of fabric or thread or old clothing they don't wear anymore lying around. some people can't afford to keep repairing the same items and sometimes need to just get new ones. it's not a mark of failure as a punk if you can't make/customize your own clothes, accessories, and other items.

people who associate punk with music and music only tend to have a lot of internalized ableism to work on. i've seen so many ppl say you cant be punk if you don't listen to the music and don't go to shows. (and usually if you do listen to the music, you have to list like 15 underground bands or people scoff at you.) this is so fucked up toward so many punks for a number of reasons.

physically and mentally disabled punks have a hard time going to shows. they're crowded. there's very little to no room for mobility aids. they're loud. there's flashing lights. there's people being pushed around and getting hit. there's drugs and alcohol everywhere. there's smoke everywhere. there's usually people filming. some people are very sensitive to loud noises and can't be in this environments at all. loud sounds can make some people pass out. it's generally very hot and the air gets very thick very fast. it can be dangerous for people with asthma and breathing issues. it can be dangerous for people with heart conditions. it can be dangerous for people with POTS, fibromyalgia, hypermobile EDS, arthritis and a lot of other issues. bathrooms are not always accessible. people who become ill or need to use the restroom may have nowhere to go.

some people have hearing damage from going to these shows. my old roommate had significant hearing damage from years of being in a scene band that played at punk shows. i cannot stress enough that hearing damage can be and is a genuine concern for people attending these shows. i always recommend wearing earplugs. pls get earplugs if you do go to shows. some punks are d/Deaf or HoH and have significant or total hearing loss and may not benefit much from going to the shows, or don't want to risk further hearing loss. some punks have tinnitus. there may be photosensitive people who don't want to risk having a seizure due to flashing lights and camera flash. there may be punks who are autistic, have ADHD, misophonia, or other conditions that may lead them to be very sensitive to sound and/or bright lights

a lot of punks are poor. some can't afford to go to shows or be constantly buying new music. some punks don't have regular internet access. some can't afford to constantly be buying or customizing new clothes to make sure they "look" punk. some punks just literally don't *have* punk shows in their area. some don't have local punk bands. some don't have exposure to an irl punk community. some punks have families and careers they enjoy participating in. some punks spend all of their time volunteering. some punks have other hobbies that consume their time.

some punks are homeless or housing insecure and can't do *any* of these things because they're too busy surviving.

i don't like how a lot of punks default to calling other punks "fakes" or "posers" or "lame" or whatever for being too disabled to participate in these things. of course people who are abled enough don't have to, either, but people seem to care very little for those who are too disabled to do these things. punks can produce a lot of different kinds of art. punks can get together and talk with one another about things other than just music. there's a lot to it and i don't like how people focus so hard on things that correlate directly to one's level of ability. it's very gatekeep-y.

the miracle's help adrien's disabilities to not affect him as how it would affect him normally, but still it's more complicated for him than the others, they support him.

because of their powers and motives related to each god, chat's bad luck makes him have to be more mindful of his action, while scaralady have to follow her instincts, if they try to fight that, it worse.

related to that, at the beggining they didn't really got along because their powers clashed A LOT, this petty rivalry was how they usually interacted on their daily basis until the akumas started to show.

ADDING TO THAT, they started as heroes before the akumas showed up, the deities told the miracle's guardian that they could sense that both moth and peacock miracles were being manipulated by someone who wasn't it chosen holder, so the master with the request of both plagg and tikki, had to give to each of them their respective miracles and start to train them properly before the akumas and amoks started to show up. they usually would help catching shitty people on the streets, assisting civilians with accidents and emergencies, and just acting as vigilantes (bc before akumas, the authorities really didn't like them).

scaralady was very suspicious of chat, because she had her own prejudices in that such power as destruction in any hands would be dangerous, but the guardian and just interacting with him daily, made her change her opinion and understand that they both needed each other to balance their powers.

chat actually never had genuine bad thoughts about scaralady, just that she was sometimes too serious and a party pooper in his own teen eyes.

after monarch started to terrorize the city, they made their dumb rivalry aside and started to seriously work together as partners, but they still teases eachother a little bit.

they're also eachother probably one of the closest bonds they ever had, interpret that at your own will lol.

both of them have to develop their powers with time, like for example: scaralady's creation power starts as random objects (like in canon) but further the stories progresses, she can create anything (usually she just follows her instincts and heart). in chat's case, at the start he can destroy small to mid objects, developing to having the ability to destroy living things (which, he doesn't really like the idea to have to do it, but if it happens he knows he would have to step up) for example if a meteor goes straight to earth extinction style, if his level is developed enough, he can destroy with a tip of his fingers.

when the team start to grow (not as big as in canon pls just the big 5 plus ryuko, viperion and someone else 😳) both of them take a leadership role, not just scaralady.

they're being trained not just related to their powers, but also to have enough mental strength to not fall under monarch's control.

each holder has to be trained like that, but both of them was a priority for the guardian as they're the most powerful and dangerous ones if it's in wrong hands.

Raven was made the 12 of June of 2017, he was made because someone asked echoiarts(aka ask-the-goth-family at the time) to give Goth a brother and was later given the name by someone else. He wasn’t officially a character until July 17th of the same year

Raven seems to grow in real time(his birthday is june 13th), he was 16 in 2017 and 23 now so yah he was probably born in 2001

Raven is very silly,, he loves his family and friends and tends to over protect them(like,, a lot,,), he can sometimes get in a fight or flight state where he tends to,, not act very well but it’s only when people push his limits. Thought he’s popularly assumed to be an extrovert I kinda?? Don’t see that?? He seems to have trust issues so I don’t think he particularly enjoys being with a lot of people?? 😭 He likes literature(reading manga, poetry, etc), jokes and is implied to listen to evanescence and use tumblr.

He has a special interest loves bunnies but hides it because of teasing, he used to have a bunny plushie called mr.bunny that got destroyed by a kitty(which he’s allergic to) and ever since he gets teased about it which he feels annoyed about because he has ailurophobia n stuff, he also hides a lot of himself(sadness and his softer side) for others because he’s too focused on making others happy that he becomes very secretive about his own feelings/boundaries/likes

As an adult(19 in 2020, 23 now), he keeps the same personality but now he works with Reaper now!! And has a more mature self!!!

His scar also grew more to his cheek and hides it with his mask

Magic runs in his body but his scar acts like a barrier and doesn’t let him use it, it basically would his scar worse and bigger. It also grows from stress which is the reason his scar has grown worse as an adult

His mask kinda helps it stop growing more(or at least preventing it from growing more into his face)

And yes this would make him disabled and yes erasing this from him is ableism IDC 🙏🙏

Raven doesn’t interact with a lot of people in canon, he has 2 love interests(Blueprint which is the canon and accepted one and Hino which is implied and canon in 1 AU), he has as many siblings as you wish but is only really seen with Shino and sometimes Goth

Other relationships would include Gradient, PJ and Palette, their relationship isn’t really explained that much tho, he canonically doesn’t gaf about Palette that much and sees him mostly as someone he doesn’t trust(though he sort-of understands that he’s probably just biased about it??)

1. not everyone finds it hurtful to find out that people are discussing their fic in private discord servers or on tiktok, actually. i for one passionately don't care that people aren't only mentioning my fic where i can see it. ofc i'm curious when one fic gets a sudden unexplained boost in kudos for a few days. am i HURT that i don't know exactly where the new readers are coming from? am i upset that the boost in hits/kudos isn't accompanied with a flurry of praise? am i sad that i can't jump into the discussion? i am not.

2. the messaging of "okay but you wouldn't post the fic if you didn't enjoy validation" makes me want to delete my ao3 immediately kasdjhfg. people post things for all sorts of reasons thank u!! my personal motivation is i'm trying to make myself feel better about making imperfect things!! the idea that by posting fic i'm inherently coming across as seeking praise makes me want to throw up. (since this discussion started, i've considered disabling comments on my fic for this reason – but i'm worried that move is so non-standard that it'll end up coming across even MORE that i want attention 😭)

3. i also pretty firmly disagree with "commenting on fic builds community!" personally i feel the community spirit when i'm in a server discussing which weasley has the biggest dick (percy). i don't feel it when people are being nice to me in my fic's comments. i'd almost go as far as to say community CAN'T be built when one person is praising another bc there's an inherent imbalance. sure, writers can mutually read and comment on each other's fic and become friends/community co-members that way, but what if u don't write? who's in YOUR comments telling u how great u are? idk about anyone else, but when i am in a community space (like a discord server) and someone starts being nice about my fic, i feel awkward; the focus shifts from a shared enjoyment onto something inherently UNshared, because one person is the creator and the others are readers. that's not to say that these interactions shouldn't happen, but imo it's disingenuous to say that's the core of fandom community.

4. i really can't stress enough how crazy it makes writers when they're writing for praise/validation. i've had conversations with very well-known drarry writers where they've been genuinely upset that nobody is reading their fic (the fic in question had hundreds of comments). i've had conversations with people who take part in fests, only to continually sort the works by stats and feel awful that theirs isn't at the top. i've had conversations with people who have had multiple devastating life events happen to them so they're struggling to write, and the lack of New Fic Comment Validation makes them feel 10x worse. i can't help but feel like if you ARE posting for feedback (or "recognition" or however you want to package it), it's genuinely not good for your brain.

5. obviously there's nuance to all of this! it's a big topic! i'm sure everyone experiences this differently! but notice how we're talking about it on tumblr, not in ao3 comments. it would probably be even more productive in a discord server. in a voice chat. you know �� fandom community spaces like that.

We can all have our own opinions about Day getting a successful eye transplant. We're all allowed to like, dislike, have mixed feelings, whatever about it. But I think some things need to be addressed about the ways we express ourselves and how we interact with other people.

First of all, let it be known: I would 100% prefer Day didn't get his sight back. I think it would be more meaningful to the narrative of growth and learning and would send out a positive message that disabled people aren't missing something, they're just as whole as everyone else. And that happiness is possible in its entirety for us too, regardless.

This being said, what I'm about to say has nothing to do with my personal opinion of the ending but about the way people are handling things here.

1st of all, no one's opinion rules over anyone else's, even when/if that is the opinion of the majority. Fandom doesn't have a hierarchy and it's not a political system either so it doesn't matter if "a lot" or even "most" people think a certain way. They're still not more or less right than anyone else. Period.

Furthermore, an artistic creation belongs to its creator(s) in the sense that they can do whatever they want with it. Can you think it sucks? Yeah, sure. But you can't tell them what they can or can't do.

So, this thing of people acting like Aof should've done X instead because "it's what everyone wanted" is pure bs. Let that be clear.

Then, okay, you just don't like the ending. Should you not say it? No. By all means, do. This is fandom, after all. It thrives on opinions. And points of view. But you have to do so respectfully. "So I can't say it's shit??" Not a all. You can say it's shit. What you can't do is say "and everyone who disagrees is ableist" or say you consider the ending ableist (which, btw, fair, you can definitely see it that way) and then imply that any positive opinion of the ending is likewise ableist. Why? Because this is art and, thus, subjective. And opinions, big shocker I know, tend not to be black or white. Even more so when, as far as I've seen at least, there's a considerable amount of disabled people in the fandom and some of us liked the ending. So what? Are you gonna just assume all of those people are ableists?? Like, sure, just like women can be misogynistic so can disabled people be ableist but that definitely should not be the assumption you make about the group right away. And I don't think it would be a fair thing to say even if the person you're attacking isn't disabled, so... It's just stupid. To not be able to take an opposite opinion to yours or frame your opinion in a way that it makes it seem like everyone with a different one is evil is just fucking stupid. And childish.

So please, if you're mad at the ending, understandable, but take a step back. Breathe. Bite a pillow, punch a bag, call your friends to complain, go on Discord with the besties, idk... But take that step back. And then come back and comment on all the reasons why you don't like it, by all means, we love analysis. But don't be an asshole. Pls don't be an asshole.
