ERDOGAN REACHES OUT TO ASSAD, TURKIYE AND SYRIA TO CAUTIOUSLY RE-ESTABLISH TIES, VLADIMIR PUTIN TO MEDIATE
In a tectonic shift in Euroasian geopolitics beginning on Friday, July 5th, when Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced after returning from a trip to Kazakhstan, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the possiblity Turkiye would extend an inventation to hold talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, with Vladimir Putin acting as a mediator between the two leaders.
Erdogan described the move as representing "the beginning of a new phase of Turkish-Syrian rapprochement."
Erdogan signaled a new diplomatic peace initiative, as it is being described by semi-official Anadolu News Agency, and "suggesting a potential invitation to Syria's Bashar al-Assad."
"We, together with Russian President Vladimir Putin, may have an invitation to Bashar al-Assad," Erdogan is quoted as telling a group of journalists on his return flight from the Kazakhstani capital Asana, where he spent two days attending Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
“If Mr. Putin can visit Türkiye, this could be the beginning of a new process," Erdogan continued, adding that "The passing years in Syria have clearly shown everyone the need for establishing a permanent solution,” the Turkish leader is quoted as saying, referring to the 2011 Arab Spring attempted coups which led to brutal civil war in Syria, largely instigated by Western capitals, with the help of three-letter agencies, and during which, Erdogan lent support to Western narratives which aimed to depose the Syrian President.
Erdogan is quoted as saying "We are talking about mediation here, so why don't we communicate directly with our neighbor?"
Erdogan went on to tell reporters that Turkiye has "always extended and will continue to extend a hand of friendship to our neighbor Syria. We would stand by a prosperous, unified Syria based on a fair, honorable, and inclusive new social contract. All we ask is that Syria initiates this great embrace and achieves recovery in every aspect."

I was wondering if kanto and johto have always been so close (obv in terms of diplomatic relationship, Ik they"re physically close) or if there have been conflicts between.. i was also wondering why paldea and kitakami have such close relationships too bc theyre quite far apart
Thank you for the question! Let's talk about interregional diplomacy!
In General
The largest diplomatic event in recent history was the Great Pokémon War, involving many regions, most notably Kanto and Unova. Afterwards, there was certainly some tension, but there thankfully haven't been any large-scale conflicts between regions since, and all major regions are decently friendly with one another!
That's not to say everyone is the best of friends, of course. There are certainly disagreements, but all-out war is the last thing on anyone's mind.
Paldea and Kitakami
Before we get to the real meat and potatoes, you mentioned the "close relationship" between Paldea and Kitakami. We found this interesting since there really isn't much of one to speak of. Outside of the Terestal phenomenon, the two regions share very little in common. While there are no conflicts between them, their relationship isn't especially close.
You may have been thinking of an expedition to the Kitakami region featuring students from Naranja-Uva and Blueberry Academies, during which an interesting truth was discovered regarding Ogerpon and the Loyal Three! (Read here for more information: [a link to an article on a Sinnoan news site, detailing the events of The Teal Mask])
Kanto and Johto
Now then...
Kanto and Johto share a very long history, which we will be massively simplifying and summarizing here. (Apologies to any history enthusiasts for the omissions. If it's any consolation, we offer a much more in-depth course on this very topic at our Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh campuses!)
As is common for directly neighboring regions, Kanto and Johto have a history of both alliances and feuds. While most outright fighting was mitigated by the mountains between the regions, several naval battles are recorded. These conflicts could range in cause from trade disputes to retaliation against a perceived invasion, to an influential family being angry with someone from the other region. They also ranged in scope, from a single battle lasting 20 minutes to several years of near endless fighting. The nearby Hoenn and Sinnoh regions (and, to a much lesser extent, Kitakami) had similar "on again off again" relationships. This all culminated in the War of Nations, in which each region fought both with and against each other at least twice over.
When the fighting finally ended, all of the involved regions agreed to remain allied for perpetuity, and this has held to this day. By the time of the Great Pokémon War, the regions had been nearly as friendly as they are today for several decades and were of course close allies both during this conflict and since.
One minor issue has arisen, however. When Routes 26 and 27 were established, Johto took issue with Kanto claiming Mt. Silver. Even among debate regarding the practicality of this claim, Johto did not desist. Eventually, Kanto relented. Today, Mt. Silver is a piece of Johto that is not directly accessible from any other part of Johto, and the route leading to it, Route 28, is Kantonian. This has led to some confusion among travelers, but considering the open border between the two regions it is of little consequence.

Honduran President Xiomara Castro arrived in China on Friday, starting what is called by both sides a “historic visit.” Her visit comes on the heels of the inauguration of China’s Embassy to Honduras, less than three months of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Honduras.

LIVE: Royals join parade outside Buckingham Palace celebrating French Entente anniversary
8 April 2024
Watch live as French soldiers join with British troops in a special Changing of the Guard parade to mark 120 years since the UK and France signed the Entente Cordiale, ushering in strong relations.
The Entente Cordiale comprised a series of agreements signed on 8 April 1904 between the United Kingdom and the French Republic, which saw a significant improvement in Anglo-French relations.
On the surface, the agreement dealt with minor issues related to fishing and colonial boundaries.
Egypt was recognized as part of Britain's sphere of influence, and Morocco as part of France's.
By its terms, France promised not to challenge British control over Egypt.
For its part, Britain recognized France’s right, as a power whose dominions are conterminous for a great distance with those of Morocco to act in that country to preserve order and to provide assistance to bring about whatever reforms in the government, economy or military it deemed necessary.
The Entente was not a formal alliance and did not involve close collaboration, nor was it intended to be directed against Germany.
However, it paved the way for a stronger relationship between France and Britain in the face of German aggression.
It should not be mistaken for the official Anglo-French military alliance, which was only established after the outbreak of World War I in 1914.

I had a character ark come full circle today, ok so background about a year ago I was in a class with some German exchange students. So I , kowning a little German wanted to be friendly and welcome them, how ever this went to absolute shit. I floundered forgot they spoke English and forgot my own German that I knew, and they looked at me like I had just ripped a massive fart in front of them. I walked a way in shame never thinking I would have a chance to rectify my image in the eyes of the German people, however today another two exchange students were in my med intervention class. I went up to them when we had a spare moment as a class and introduced myself and asked them how they were doing. It worked and they actually cracked a smile too! So there you have it I made peace with the German people.🕺
