Explain your url tag!

I changed my url about 11 years ago when I decided I wanted a more anonymous username. I used my most successful method for picking up names - opening a random book on a random page and skimming until some word catches my eye. So, pridoo is from a line in John Le Carré’s novel Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and the very first page, where they explain how Jim Prideaux’s surname is pronounced - "prid-doh". I just think the word looks and sounds nice. So, I took it and changed it just slightly. My url is pronounced ’pri-doh’.

Fun fact: Prideaux is a name of Cornish origin and can be used as both first and last name. It's usually pronounced kinda like "priddicks" in Cornwall and "pridou" in French. I also write my username in small letters because I'm a big fan of bell hooks and because I think it simply looks better!

The campaign to "ban all sexual exploitation of women and girls" is a clear dogwhistle to shake freedom of speech and make matters worse for lgbt creators. The "think of the children" rhetoric used for fictional media isn't protecting women, it's a direct attack on creators.

Judging from the blog update, itch is panicking about this and very much under the real risk of going completely down as it's a huge platform for nsfw and lgbt game creators.

I'm not surprised about this development, as right-wing policies take place more and more globally, and I already have plans on where to move my stuff. It makes me sad and tired to follow these kind of policies happen, but no policy is forever and we have the power to speak up and create nevertheless.
