Ugh scenarios where Bruce is literally suicidal, and has made many attempts, but keeps getting interrupted by his kids and alfred but they don't realise what he was going to do?and they don't know his mental state was that bad?? Sign me up cause I fucking love angst and hurt/comfort

13 yr old Bruce about to slit his throat in the bathroom, but alfred comes out of nowhere and tells him dinner is ready, he made his favourite cause he saw he looked off recently, and Bruce just goes out calmly and hugs him super tight?? Bruce, about to make a decision to end his life after he's all done raising dick (after he becomes nightwing) and knows that dick is set on the right path now and going to crime alley where his parents were shot to end it but ends up meeting jason instead?? After jason when he tied up all loose ends, closed cases, secured gotham good enough, About to go on patrol for one last time, then after he'll jump off, but then meets tim that evening saying he knows who he is?? Meeting cass just when he was planning to do it cause he genuinely hated himself, but seeing so many similarities between him and cass, knowing she sees them too and scared that after he suicides she'll get those ideas too cause they're so similar? Decides to try to help her?? Meeting nightwing when he was going to jump off cause dick wanted to surprise him from blud and he just thought Bruce was brooding?? getting a call from Damain in the middle of the day when he was about to stage a car crash and listens as damian (mad at him) asks him to come to the school to pick him up cause he got suspended for 2 days for knocking out a student for being racist.

CAN U IMAGINE A CONFRONTATION WHERE BRUCE THOUGHT THEY ALREADY KNEW?? AND HES TAKING THIS CASUAL BUT THEYRE FUCKING NOT??

My favorite headcanon (I say this about it every single headcanon) is that the media seeing Bruce as super laid back and totally unfit and not structured enough to be a parent

Meanwhile the latest Dick is allowed to stay up is 8:05 PM, Bruce turns all screens off an hour after dinner, homework must be done BEFORE the screens come on and God forbid a note gets sent home about bad behavior

You can’t tell me that the extreme control freak under the mask of Batman doesn’t have a bunch of rules for his kids to follow outside of the mask

Tim would probably be the only exception because we’ll…he’s Tim but I think Bruce would over correct with Damian and then have to teach himself to be little more lenient

People apparently don't understand that when I talk about "eldest sibling" Dick Grayson, I don't mean "omg I'm happy and jolly all the time, my brothers and sisters can all depend on me all the time dw uwu baby get behind me big bro's got this hehe 😘"

What I mean when I say Eldest Sibling Dick Grayson is that you're the first person to experience parenting from someone who knows Jack shit about parenting. You're the one they fuck up with and you don't even know it, you've got no way of knowing they're fucking up with you, because you're the first.

So when you see all the ways they're fucking up with your siblings you're actually able to point it out and be there for your siblings when they need comforting arms and reassurance.

And even then you're the only one who's able to truly understand them:

As an eldest sibling, you're the one that knows every little idiosyncrasy from your parents (or in this case, parent[tal] figure).

So give me eldest sibling Dick Grayson who also gets impatient at every other little Robin for fucking up in little insignificant ways, give me Dick Grayson saying "that's not actually the way Batman/Bruce likes things done" and throwing an exasperated sigh before actually doing said thing himself.

Give me Eldest Sibling Dick Grayson who's jealous and selfish about the other Robin's relationships with Bruce. Because for as good of a person as you are, it is inevitable to feel that way when you shared so much of your life with the person who gave you a reason to keep going.

And give me Eldest Sibling Dick Grayson who feels guilty for feeling that way, and tries to overcompensate by taking them out for ice cream, or helping them in any way he possibly can, even if he dies trying.

anyway i just think that a lot of people who write them not liking each other don’t understand the feeling when you’re too similar to do anything but understand each other and that both destroys and heals your relationship

To anyone who thinks Bruce has a clear and consistent favourite child I raise you this: it is infinitely funnier for Bruce to have a complicated and elaborate “ranking” system of his kids that only he’s privy to.

Picture this: Batman, dosed with truth serum, gets asked as a gag from one of the goons holding him captive who his favourite bat-vigilante is and instead of giving a straight answer, he launches into this whole explanation about the ranking system and who’s in the current lead, who’s hanging behind, etc. At some point (this is a mystery to everyone involved) a whiteboard appears and he starts explaining his system like he’s a football coach before an important match. Out of nowhere he starts pulling out little cardboard cutouts of his kids and pins them to the board. At some point the red string comes out.

Jason hasn’t killed someone in a week? Automatically promoted to favourite. Tim hasn’t caused an international incident in the past month? Puts him a few points ahead that keep decreasing the longer he refuses real sleep (20 minute power naps don’t count Tim! Says powernap inventor Bruce Wayne). Cass gave him a hug this morning and wished him a good day? Favourite until he gets a call from dick telling him (without shouting!!!!) that he’ll be there for this week’s Sunday dinner. Duke accidentally scratches the Batmobile? Demoted to the “in trouble” zone (which, honestly, that’s where his kids spend most of the time in😭). Damian did not attempt to free all the animals in the zoo they visited? Favourite. Until Bruce found out he was just trying to conceal the cat hidden in his room that Bruce explicitly forbade him from keeping.

Dick arrives at the family dinner with a busted shoulder and a bruise the size of Texas on his face? Gets demoted so far down that even azraeil scores higher than him. He’s in the “in trouble” zone for a constant month after that. Oh one of them survived an almost death? Favourite for at least the next week. At least. Multiple people survive an almost death? EVERYONES the favourite. The least favourite is the growing grey hairs on his head.

The end of day results are decided by who bothers to wish him goodnight and if all of them have fucked up in some way the past week then Jon (Kent) becomes the automatic favourite until someone cracks a joke that Bruce actually finds funny.

The favourite child changes daily, hourly even, and his kids are aware this system exists and keep trying to crack the code but he always Knows and just smirks smugly.

Teen Titans - Batman fic idea that mashes the teen titans cartoon with general canon and headcanon.

There's about two years of Dick Grayson's life where he was well and truly a ghost. At least to Batman. Bruce has detailed records of everything that has ever happened to any one of his allies, but after he was fired, after he escaped to Jump City, after he formed the Teen Titans, he managed to keep to himself. And maybe it was because emotions were raw, or maybe Dick was just particularly good at evading, but is the one time in his life that Bruce didn't manage to keep tabs on him.

And once Dick comes back... Bruce doesn't ask. The edges of their relationship are still too rough, and Dick seems to paint a complete picture anyway. He tells Bruce about his new friends, spins grand tales about their victories over H.I.V.E., and talks endlessly about all of the people they were able to help. He doesn't talk about everything though. Not quite.

Then it's years later, and that time is practically forgotten. Dick's an adult now, a member of the Justice League, along with his former team. He's taking on bigger and bigger assignments, and he's off world when the next series of events go down.

The league is trying to take down some hitmen, and they're coming up short. Even Batman can't find them. They need help, and they're running out of options, and eventually they call in an old favor and track down Deathstroke.

It's a controversial decision, to say the least, but there are a few League members that are acting irrationally. Bruce quickly pieces together that it's the old members of the Teen Titans. He tries to get to the root of it. They keep their mouths suspiciously shut. He digs, goes through the crime reports from Jump City, and he pulls up... nothing.

And it's not just that the Titans don't want to work with him. Starfire tried to blast the man's head off, consequences be damned. The others abandon the mission. And, yet, they all still refuse to say why. Bruce eventually determines that he'll have to interrogate Dick when he comes back.

And Dick does come back. A few days early, actually. And he's sent down from the watchtower and finds his father working with the one man he hoped he would never see again. And Dick keeps his mouth shut. He bites his tongue. Ignores the greeting of Hello, Little Bird from the voice that still haunts his nightmares, stifles his fear, forces a smile... because the mission comes first. He dodges Bruce's questions, avoids the other Titans, and stops Starfire from physically dragging him away, or from telling his siblings, or from telling Bruce himself. He's survived this long. He can manage.

It doesn't matter that managing feels like collapsing in on himself.

Later, Bruce blames how focused he was on the mission for not putting the pieces together sooner. He blames the Titans not telling him. Dick's silence. Deathstroke's trickery. Anything but the fact that he just didn't want to see the truth right in front of him.

He doesn't put the pieces together until they're ambushed. A fight breaks out, and Nightwing and Deathstroke fight together like they were made to. Dick follows directions like they're second nature, more so even than he ever followed Bruce's.

And, at the very end, Bruce grabs Dick's arm before he can stab an enemy through the neck, and Dick... breaks. He can't take the weight of the old memories, can't take the weight of the gaze of the monster that has haunted him since he was sixteen years old. The monster that he thought he has escaped.

I've always seen fics or prompts of Bruce wanting to be a father to his children when they were younger/toddlers so that he could save them from the pain they went through and also fix his own mistakes

but I want a fic where the batkids(jason,tim,cass, Damian,not dick cause he had a good childhood with his parents,any other kid who may have had bad/kinda bad childhood) are around or are seeing footage of when Bruce is trying to calm down a baby whether as batman with the JL after evacuation or Bruce wayne in any situation generally

and for the first time realising what could have been if they got to bruce earlier, thought of something they never did before, and felt jealous of the way their dad hums to the baby, knowing that he would have down the same to them, he would have been amazing, and wished that their paths had crossed so much earlier, wanting to be a teensy child to their father

not necessarily so he can save them from pain, just to be his stupid child,for him to wipe at their mouth when they eat too messy, and for him to be encouraging them for their first steps, humming to them and rocking them asleep at late nights even when he's tired.

My favorite part of Bruce and Dicks relationship isn’t the unending loyalty and devotion and the self assured destruction of loving a man who hates himself on Dicks part and using an eternally flying man as a your stable ground on Bruce’s part

It’s not the adoration that feels like shackles or the unending trust that feels like raking hot coals over your back

It’s the fact that Dick Grayson will always love Bruce Wayne

And also

Always want to kick the absolute shit out of him

Like Dick has pent up rage and we see him lash out at people but almost never has he ever attacked any loved ones physically with the exception of Roy Harper after the women who they both loved more than life itself passed.

But with Bruce?

Dick not only hits to hurt

He hits with the aim of getting Bruce down and keeping him there.

It feels like vindication to him

He borderline revels in it

I mean look at the hits he landed during the Gotham War run or Forever Evil/Spyral

And then there’s Bruce

Because he is not an idiot

And he knows he fucked up with Dick more than the rest as Robin (nothing can really compare to how he treats Jason as the red hood)

But do you think Batman feels guilt over the fact that Dick HAS this much rage and bitterness over the things Bruce has done

Like Dick in unendingly Kind and forgiving but he’s also and pardon my French, a dick (lowercase) so he absolutely holds resentment over the stuff Bruce did to him even if it’s water under the bridge in his day to day
