Personality: Annabelle is a quiet, gentle, and compassionate individual. Her quiet nature is often mistaken for shyness. But she’s actually not shy at all (typically) and has no qualms about initiating interactions. She actually likes being in the company of other people quite a bit, but doesn’t have a large social battery for spending time with more than one person. (So breaks, especially in her line of work, are a must!) She has a pretty significant fear of having to heavily rely on others/not being able to do things by herself. She feels an intense need to prove she is capable on her own merits. She does experience generalized anxiety, and while it does cover certain social situations for her (particularly matters of romance and sex, and her lack of experience with the latter), it doesn’t encompass social situations in general.

Pre-Canon Backstory:

More of a pre-pre canon backstory. (Because her story with the Ghost of Tsushima characters starts prior to the canon events of the game.) This is also a lot more quick and dirty than the last OC post I did so apologies if its choppy and very bare bones.

Annabelle was born to Yuta Nishimura and his wife Susan in the 1990s. Originally, she spent much of her childhood/teens in the American midwest before her family moved to California around the time she was high school. She always had an interest in art, and her parents were very encouraging of her interests. They tried to be supportive of her needs as an autistic person, particularly as both her parents were autistic themselves. While she got along with her parents most of the time, they had a tendency to be a bit overprotective and even smothering at times, which heavily contributed to Annabelle’s desire for self-sufficiency and a need to prove herself.

During high school, Annabelle developed a close relationship with her paternal cousin, Kei. They were practically like siblings, and trusted each other almost completely. She also spend some time trying to get to know her paternal grandparents, but found herself standoffish with them. Still, she tried, and by the end of it found some kinship with her paternal grandmother, Rin.

Eventually, Annabelle returned to the midwest for college, attending college in the same town where her maternal grandmother and maternal uncles lived. She was close to all of them growing up, and it helped her transition into college life to have trusted relatives living in the same town.

She returned from school her sophomore year of college to visit her parents for the holidays. On the way to the airport  in the wee hours of the morning to send her back to college at the end of the break, Annabelle and her parents ended up in a terrible car accident, where Annabelle was the only survivor.

Annabelle was devastated by the loss of her parents, to the point she dropped out of college for a couple of years (during which time she stayed with Kei, who had moved out to the midwest by that point after accepting a job at an art museum as an administrator - the same museum at which she would later come to have her current job).

Annabelle eventually returned to college and finished her studies, at which point she worked odd jobs here and there while living with her maternal grandmother and maternal uncles. After three years or so of this, she moved back in with her cousin Kei, and looked for work for a bit until Kei told her there was an opening at the museum they worked at for a tour guide.

She applied and was accepted, and to this day the museum is where she currently works.

Her story begins when the Museum is set to put on a special exhibit on ‘The Art and Folktales of Tsushima’ (an exhibit on, well, art and folktales from Tsushima, an island of the coast of mainland Japan that in the current day is part of Japan’s Nagasaki prefecture). 

On the night before the exhibition is set to open to the general public, Annabelle attends a party with her cousin Kei that celebrates the opening of the exhibit. After passing by a display of a beautiful comb, she has a strange waking dream about a woman in traditional Japanese shrine maiden garb beckoning her towards a door that appears to open to somewhere underwater... a shinto temple submerged under the sea.

She’s snapped out of it by Kei, who gives her a worried look when she comes to.

Unfortunately when she goes to bed that night, she wakes up to find herself underwater again, this time with nothing in sight by light filtering from above. After floating for a bit, and seeing a brief vision of the shrine maiden, she suddenly has the awareness of holding her breath and frantically swims to the surface.

She reaches it in a state of panic and shock, looking around but everything’s a blur. She can hear voices however. Shouts and exclamations of alarm in Japanese. She feels hands attempting to pull her out of the water, and before she knows it, she’s pulled onto what appears to be a fishing boat. This, unbeknowst to her, is the start of her alternating between two different times and places - between her modern day life and Kamakura Era Tsushima, first arriving about fifteen months before the Mongols would set foot on Tsushima and attempt their invasion, kicking off the events of Ghost of Tsushima.

In that fifteen months, a lot would happen to her. She’d be taken in by a fisherman’s family and cause controversy among the the residence of a humble fishing village. A controversy to be settled by the local Jito, Lord Shimura, who decides to go about doing so by taking her into his household as a ‘guest’ until he can determine her trustworthiness. She is confined to his castle for a matter of several months, and appointed a ‘guardian’ of sorts to keep an eye on her and report back to the Jito on observations made about her, her characters, and whatever other information can be gleaned about her.

And who does Lord Shimura appoint to the position but his own nephew, Lord Jin Sakai, a dutiful, skilled, and scarily perceptive samurai who appears to give his uncle the highest reverence. But in spite of every reason to be wary of him, Annabelle finds herself disarmed and at ease in his presence. His gentle voice and forthright, high-minded nature draw her in, and she finds herself trusting him perhaps more easily than she should, given the circumstances.

But it seems he is equally drawn to her in kind, and the two of them develop a strong bond to one another. Little does she know how close the two of them will become, eventually falling into bed together and later bound to each other not as minder and charge, but as husband and wife.

And that’s all before the Khotun Khan shows up with his army to invade Tsushima.

All the while, Annabelle struggles to unravel the mystery of how her split reality came to be in the first place and the identity of the Shrine Maiden. She grapples with what the consequences of finding out might entail. She feels she must, that of course things must go back to the way they were. Right?

But she struggles with allowing her life in the past to unfold, and trying the minimize the heartache that will come eventually when she must cut herself off from it. But try as she might, she increasingly has much to leave behind when that days comes. Chiefly among them, a man she’s come to love madly, a man who slowly comes to be remade by the radically perspective redefining experiences thrust upon him.

And whose very much in love with her in kind and will be absolutely devastated to lose her.

Ni’s shippy chart for 02 group (+ Wallace the lone traveler)

So for a while i was really really debating making a post about how i see the ships i like and honestly i was too afraid of posting anything about this with the biggest fear of people’s reactions to my own headcanons and preferences.

However, i can’t agree 100% with everyone and no one can’t agree 100% with me.

This post is about my personal preferences and how i see them. Please if you don’t like any of those interpretations... I’m sorry. You’re free to disagree with me as you please. There might exist something else we both agree with though...

So, this chart was made... last year to illustrate to my friends how i ship those characters. You will notice someone is not present and it’s because... Yeah, Iori’s too young for this. And some ships are not totally present here (which i call by “lowkey shipping”), so the ones here are the ones i definitely high key ship.

But the arrows direction you can get the idea of what i see in each of those ships. Again, just high key stuff, the low key ones are omitted but will be mentioned in this post.

Daisuke - As much i’m vocal about shipping him with all of those, i do think he’s too oblivious to a bunch of any other people he has a crush on. So the ones i high key ship are Daisuke→ Hikari and Daisuke → Miyako. Note the “?” on Dai-Miya arrow, which it’s what i just said: the feeling he’s too oblivious about those feelings to the point he isn’t that sure about it.

Low key ship views: Daisuke→ Ken (I think Daisuke would a long time later, but not in 02 era, to have feelings for Ken); Daisuke → Wallace (In the same sense as the previous one)

Ken - I definitely cannot ignore Ken → Daisuke in the span of 02, but he was too young for this, and I really like to think through 02 to Kizuna he simply tried his best to the point he also discovered his interests on Miyako (yes, i HC he’s bi/demi). In which Miyako is ALSO that oblivious but somehow they managed to get into a relationship. Now, who started it or not it’s according to my mood, but I prefer pretty much the Ken → Miyako direction thanks to a few friends and artists 🤣

Low key ship views: Ken → Hikari (old favorite by the simply fact i like “Darkness x Light” pairs. No, i do not ship the Frontier twins romantically) ; Ken → Takeru (I love the romantic tension between them, like the ol cliche “enemies to friends to lovers” hehe) ; Ken → Wallace (?? YEAH KINDA OF... I just want them to meet someday in some material, GDI!)

Miyako - She’s just like Daisuke in this category. She has been gushing on how hot and cute people are that it’s funny she married Ken who was one of those people she was gushing about and calling hot and cute. I really think it’s pretty clear that she likes both boys and girls (lol, Mimi is her other crush, but not present in this chart) -- so then, Miyako possibly has low key crushes on other people but being completely not sure if they’re strong or just... well, her claiming this person is hot or cute.

Low key ship views: Miyako → Daisuke (not pictured, but i think she had a crush on him somewhere between 02 and Kizuna) ; Miyako → Hikari (again, something she’s not much sure about, but might be there...)

Takeru - Ok, this one is funny. The lack of Take-Hika is because... I’m one of those people who definitely see nothing romantic or romantic tension between them*. Sorry, it’s just how i see it. However, i do see a lot of ^_^ faces at Daisuke and Ken. While Takeru does not do any of those faces at the girls... Because his mom raised him to drink respect women juice. So then i totally see the romantic appeal from Takeru → Daisuke direction.

Low key ship views: Takeru → Ken (explained previously) ; Takeru → Wallace (something something they would be great as a couple imo...)

Hikari - Just like i said, i don’t feel like Hikari likes Takeru romantically* (and again, this is a ME problem) so my only interest in a romantic ship with her is... Wallace - This is a wild card. I know he flirts with girls as possible coping mechanism, but i don’t think he really really has romantic interest on them. "I - i cannot" Diana swallowed hard. She did not wish to insult her hosts, but she absolutely could not allow to be carried through the streets of Rome in carriage held by 'slaves'

She was given a dumbfounded look by Lucius "why not? The step up is small!"

"I dont - the men carrying - they are slaves its not right" she spoke quickly giving him a hard look. It was shockingly the first time in two weeks she had been faced with such a moral issue

His face softened "Diana, do you know where the men have been for the past two weeks?" She shook her head in response "they took their yearly leave, because i give them leave. They are all freemen whom i employ. I do not make a habbit of surrounding my self of those forced into work by means of fear"

It did some to reassure her that for the years before Slavery was largely abolished he was not a complete ass, but it did little to settle the feeling in her stomach that it was not the done thing

He sighed heavily noticing her indifference "Fine, fine. Petal?" He offered his arm, extending it to Antonia. She and Anthony (along with the woman Diana could not remember the name of) hopped up into the carriage

She had a moment of confusion of how she would get to the Colloseum and was largely confused untill she was scooped up into Lucius arms and bridal carried with ease through the streets of Rome.

Shockingly she was not dropped, it was a rather comfortable ride and he made a point of cracking a joke everytime they passed into a new street.

She would miss this Baldwin when she returned home.

They were absolutely dumbfounded. Matthew especially, having spent the past 1500 or so years being none the wiser to Baldwins secret - he had children, four girls not including Miyako

"Phoebe, are you alright?" Marcus gently rubbed her leg, noting how her heart was racing

"You - you are - your daughter" she couldnt get her words out "we learnt about you at school" she squeaked out

"Mark Anthony is, or atleast was, my Uncle. My mother was his sister" she smiled as the woman clearly continued to loose her head over the information

"And how dissapointing he turned out to be" a woman came storming into the room, angry look plasteting her face bitter and twisted "much like my father" she spat

"Fabe do not start there are guests" another woman, who looked exactly like the angry one though she had a less sour face slapped her arm "ignore her, she was spoiled rotten as a child and misplaced her manners"

The cheerier of the two skipped over to Baldwin and flung her arms around his neck and placed kiss on his cheek "I can kill her for insolence"

He tapped her arm, dropping his head to kiss her hand "sit with us?"

"Only if you promise to stay longer" she had perched herself next to him, fluttering her long lashes

"I cant" he whispered "you know this"

She rolled her eyes "Fiiiine i shall have to get all the cuddles out of you now"

Marcus crossed his brows and coughed "I am Marcus, this is my mate Phoebe and my father Matthew"

She giggled "Oh silly me, i am Florentina, the scowly faced wrech is my twin Fabiana. Baldwins youngest" she leaned in whispering "and most beautiful daughters"

AUTHORS NOTE:

I am fully aware it is unlikely that if Baldwin was actually from a Noble class (we dont actually know) that he would be a nice little bean to his slaves.

I however like to write him as a nice little floofy bean as opposed to reality of the time.

But also, he is the one with all the technology and told Gerbert that everyone should act with abut of democracy in the 21st century so he is always abit before his time i feel

My take on “Can Shiki Kill Servants?”

I don’t think there’s really a single answer to this (also I have a bias in that I like Tsukihime better than Fate and especially like Shiki better than Shirou) so I have a few different answers:

1. Can Shiki Tohno, alone, kill servants using his Mystic Eyes?

I believe there’s no conclusive answer to this one. We’d have to answer whether “everything having a death” takes precedence over “Servants are spirits and can’t be harmed by physical things.” We know that Shirou managed to kill Archer, but he did so with an illusion. Also, we know from Shiki Ryougi’s Melty Blood Actress Again storyline that Archetype Earth doesn’t have a death. So I can’t really answer that one.

2. Can Shiki win a Holy Grail War?

Yes. I don’t even actually think who his servant is (Fate/Extra having Arc as his servant aside) would matter really, because Arcueid, Ciel, Akiha, and Len would all probably help him, plus Akiha would probably order the maids to help him in non-combat ways. The only problem I’d see is that his servant and Len wouldn’t be at full power due to having to share Shiki’s magic energy. Still, I could imagine battles between him and other masters looking like a drive-by shooting when compared to the epic battles in Fate/Stay Night. If somehow he’s in the war with no servant (or Len counts as a servant somehow) there’d be more of a struggle, but I still think he could come out on top.

3. If Shiki becomes a servant, can he kill servants?

Yes, since Ryougi can. In fact, I think Ryougi would be overpowered as a servant if she weren’t beholden to the fact that Fate/Grand Order needs to have some semblance of balancing. I think Tohno would be similarly overpowered, though not as much since Tohno is plain weaker than Ryougi.

4. Can SHIKI kill servants?

Since SHIKI Tohno’s mystic eyes see “the point that makes things live” instead of “the death of things,” I’m going to lean “no” because servants aren’t alive. Perhaps he can kill Pseudo- and Demi- Servants.

5. Can Shiki Nanaya kill servants?

No, he doesn’t have mystic eyes. If he had his own servant he might get pretty far. Also, White Len could be of some assistance if she could set aside her ego.

6. Can Shiki Ryougi kill servants?

See 1 and 3.

7. Can Shiki Nanaya (Hana no Miyako) kill servants?

Yoshika’s Skills : Undead Body : A Yoshikais already dead, and thus ignores pain and physical damage.  If struck down she will rise again unless her body is totally destroyed. Service : A Yoshika serves Seiga unfailingly, using her own body as a shield, so long as her seal remains on her head.  No magecraft can override this.

Seiga the Wicked Hermit is not a very well known figure, but Crown Prince Miko still mentions her.  The grail reveals her in all her twisted glory.  Possibly one of the most dangerous hermits ever to live, if only because she believes in her warped philosophies.

Another traditional Caster, Seiga will happily use Yoshika as a shield and sword while she prepares familiars and items to unleash on her enemies.   However unlike most Casters, her master will have to keep her entertained, otherwise she'll go wandering out looking for fun herself.
