Love that Oppenheimer is a deeply disturbing horror movie about a man forced to accept that he is, in a person, the representative manifestation of mankind’s evil in committing one of the greatest horrors of human history - LITERALLY acting as the modern Prometheus, tormented by his sins for the remainder of time. Knowing that he will never be pitied and his actions will forever be utterly unforgivable because the blood of genocide and the potential of total human annihilation will eternally drip from his hands.

But also the simultaneous indictment by the film that to blame a single person for the Manhattan Project is to refuse to accept your own capacity for great evil if the ends ever seem to justify the means, and the culpability of every member of a species that lets itself create something so unspeakably terrible.

Hate that twitter’s take on such a nuanced and brilliantly handled examination of those issues is “movie bad because protagonist not evil enough.”

i think why i am drawn more to antagonists (especially TRAITOR antagonists cus goddd) is because they've walked away from all the people they cared about, all the people they loved, because this is a cause they care about. it is selfless. it is cruel. it is diabolical, actually. it is something the hero won't do. something even the hero is unwilling to sacrifice, but the traitor, well, they have given everything and they will give more. because when you commit an act of betrayal, you are betraying more, you are betraying yourself, you are betraying your morality so that everyone else can save their's. you are paving the road to heaven by going to hell. and if that isn't tragically evil idk what is

Lucanis had so much potential that never went anywhere, and I feel like the main reason for this is bc the Crows needed to be good in the game. The logical development for Lucanis imo should've been coming to terms with how abusive his childhood was, and how he should consider breaking free from the Crows and his grandmother and persuing his own path instead. But since that would bring critique to the Crows, he instead got saddled with the First Talon title which he never wanted in the first place. Whether he becomes First Talon or not is what his personal quest's 2 endings should've been about.

What we get in the game is fine (especially considering how troubled development was) and I like him as a character a lot. He has plenty of good qualities, but he is one of the companions with the most wasted potential in my book.

secretly afab jiang cheng poll

(someone once wrote a post about a similar scenario but i cannot find it. if someone finds it please send me the link)

consider the following scenario:

yu ziyuan gives birth to two biologically female children. her second birth in particular is difficult and renders it impossible for her to have any more children. determined to have one of her children inherit, however, yu ziyuan lies, and announces to the cultivation world the birth of a son, jiang cheng.

jiang cheng is raised as a boy. only yu ziyuan and a handful of trusted maids know the truth. jiang fengmian never finds out. jiang yanli never finds out. even wei wuxian somehow never finds out.

as time goes on, various other parties discover the truth at different points in jiang cheng's life--wen chao and his men after jiang cheng is captured in wei wuxian's place, wen qing and wen ning during the golden core transfer, possibly jin guangyao as well--but, due to various circumstances, everyone who knows dies before they can spread the information. eventually, the only person left alive who knows the truth is jiang cheng himself.

jiang cheng leads his sect. jiang cheng purposefully gets himself blacklisted by all matchmakers. jiang cheng raises jin ling. somehow, for the entirety of the 13 year timeskip and beyond, jiang cheng is able to hide the truth of his body from the entire world. wei wuxian returns after 13 years of death, the present half of the plot plays out exactly as it does in canon, and somehow this specific information just never comes up. even after wen ning's return, wen ning somehow never brings it up either, because he assumes wei wuxian knows already.

then, some time after the end of canon, wei wuxian finds out the truth: that jiang cheng, who he fully believed to be biologically male, was in fact biologically female this entire time, and also that jiang cheng managed to hide this information from him all the way up until now. maybe wen ning finally spills the beans or something.

how does wei wuxian react?

how does jiang cheng think of himself in this scenario? as a woman pretending to be a man? as the ancient fantasy chinese version of a transgender man?

how does jiang cheng wish to live in this scenario? does he wish to live as a woman? does he wish he were biologically male?

have jiang cheng and wei wuxian reconciled?

how would wei wuxian react to learning that there was a huge chunk of jiang cheng's life he had zero idea about?

Having OSDD and playing STP and seeing how other people interpret the voices is crazy. Mostly because I attribute all the Voices as just being smaller parts of the Whole (You, the player) so it’s harder to take their flaws seriously when it’s like. Yeah but I’m not like that and I don’t wanna do that, ur just a thought bro.

Like L + Ratio imagine not being the guy in control of the body today, ANYWAYS-

(Mini ramble undercut!!)

It what makes certain routes like the Spectre so fun when she joins the mess and is like “??? Is it always this loud” because like yeah. Being apart of a system in real life is really just fine tuning the noise and making your own choices, especially since the voices are usually shown at face value and when you dig deeper they all usually want the same thing: To survive.

And when you realize that it’s easier to take agency of the control you Do have as the player and therefore the vessel. They each have their own different ways and thoughts of surviving but ultimately they either just want to survive or they want to survive and end the pain of the cycle they’re forced through.

They’re just thoughts, just voices, brought forth from trauma and trying to escape, give them grace.

All this to say, being apart of a system and playing a game that involves multiple voices is really just like playing a real life simulator and is probably why I have such an easy time playing and understanding the characters in the game
