Thaal Sinestro of Korugar

Here's ALL of his lore that I cooked up:

(warning for: the sheer ungodly length of this, mentions of death, and a low-key humorous mention of alien physiology at the end cuz I couldn't help myself--)

(Some of this might still be a slight work in progress and/or may be subject to change later on. I'm not sure yet.)

Backstory:

It wasn’t supposed to end that way. He wanted her to be safe and far away from the threat of action. Unfortunately.. he had made a mistake and it cost him greatly. Both heart and mind.

The loss of his wife.. the loss of his best friend, Abin Sur’s sister.. it caused quite the disruption in their friendship.

Some time well after that horrible event, Sinestro and Abin got into an altercation. An argument while out on duty. Abin had heard of Sinestro’s plans, but he didn’t agree with them. Both men were already still rocky and broken from the loss of Arin. So, when Sinestro was plotting some way of utilizing his GL powers to enforce order and protection.. no matter how unreasonable. Abin Sur lashed out. Calling him crazy, delusional, that nothing will ever bring her back.

Sinestro.. well.. he wasn’t thinking and without any ill intention.. he attacked Abin Sur. He only wanted to try and reason with him. He didn’t mean to do it.. but a stray blast from his ring managed to wreck the ship they were traveling in.. and the blast severely damaged Abin Sur.

..Sinestro fled the ship in horror, not seeing the fate of his friend as the ship hurtled down to a particular blue planet. The thought of having presumably killed his own partner and friend on top of having already dealt with the loss of his wife.. well.

That absolutely destroyed him. Shattered him so deeply.. he’s grown distant. Disconnected and apathetic. Bottling up, locking away, and throwing the key away with his emotions..

This was the beginning of the end of his GL career.. and the lead up to him being picked up by the Yellow Corps. The immense fear and angst building up inside him being strong enough he found a new life with the Yellow Lanterns. However, he couldn’t take the life and went rogue. Taking the ring with him and starting his own little sect.

imagine. some late series episode that ends with a little close up of some guy who looks a bit like Vincent Price for some reason lowering his newspaper and staring in Guy & Feste's direction as they head back home for the day after having a chat at some outdoor cafe.

you don't know who this weird guy is until it's later revealed that it was Sinestro. He ALSO used his ring to go incognito and appear human so as not to attract any attention while he "stalks" Guy & Feste for some reason idk I didn't think this far.

it kinda adds weight to the act of killing him. but like.. it probably killed Sinestro, too.. to do it. maybe it was an accident..? unintentional… during a fight.. and Sinestro was hiding it. and although Guy reminds him of Abin Sur… he hates Guy because he reminds him of Abin Sur and what he did to him. like a weird sort of "reincarnation" thing?? if that makes sense??

Guy being so angry at Sinestro for what he did feels almost cathartic for Sinestro cuz he knows he deserves it.

Sinestro sees occasional visions of his wife and friend begging and pleading for his help that will never come. This fuels his fear to power his ring. he needs fear to wield it. and that is a big fear. the repetitive action of losing his wife and friend and not being able to do anything about it.

Miscellaneous:

Soranik Natu was given the Natu surname as she was raised by another family. whether on Ungara or Korugar is undecided, but she does keep it.

Sinestro was unable to continue raising her as he was in no condition to do so, and Arin was.. well. out of the picture.

Sinestro sees Soranik and hears her name and he knows that's his daughter and he feels sick. She looks like her mother, he can see it. There's the underlying fear of what she may think of him and how much she may take after him. He is very aware of the terrible things he has done but he is blinded, in a sense, thinking what he is doing is for the greater good. to protect people..

To protect Soranik.

From a fate that fell upon Arin Sur and many others.

Soranik is like a combination of the two. her horns are smaller and so are her ears. she has tiny "tusks" (fangs?) compared to her mom.

but she also has elements similar to her dad.

also I can't help but think about Sinestro saying he wishes for his daughter to not become like him, but to instead become more like her mother. honor her memory. it's a terrible loss for the universe for someone like Arin Sur to no longer be in it..

I 100% want there to be a moment in an episode where Sinestro's backstory is revealed. like… his life he had up to when Guy first met him. We get to see just how tragic his backstory is.

There's been some subtle little hints here and there before, like someone from on Oa hearing Guy make a remark about Sinestro's weird earring and they tell him what they know.. how it's actually something very meaningful, a combination of two races and their culture. how it is a show of respect and mourning..

the mourning rituals of both Ungarans and Korugarians came together when Sinestro lost Arin. The piercings worn by those who lost a partner from Korugar.. and the wearing of a specific flora from Ungara..

Sinestro's mournful earring has a unique flora depicted hanging from it. A custom metal made to resemble that flora from Ungara.. to honor the memory of Arin Sur. He wears it always except when bathing or resting, but he keeps it with him ever so close at all times.

Should he lose that earring at all… well…

we might just see Sinestro become a Red Lantern.

I do kinda like the idea that Ungara and Korugar are relatively close planets with their own races inhabiting them. and because of this, the two races are uniquely compatible, genetically speaking, which leads to how Soranik Natu was born at all when Thaal Sinestro got with Abin Sur's sister, Arin Sur. Sinestro & Arin were the first ones to discover this.

Also, Ungarans are taller than Korugarians. Soranik stands a little taller than Sinestro.

Sinestro is 5'5" (average)

Soranik is 5'9"

Arin & Abin Sur: 6'6" 6'8" (average)

what if Sinestro has never seen a human before and the first time he sees Guy shirtless in the Oa locker room he notices Guy only has 2 n1ps and Sinestro is like:

"Only 2? However will you feed all your young? Surely they should starve with such a lack of bodily provisions."

And Guy stands there extremely confused. Asks him what in the ever-loving heck he's talking about. Sinestro responds by merely removing his own clothes and presents his 8 n1ps.

Guy is understandably disturbed by the implications now registering in his mind.

If Guy ever mentions pregnancy, Sinestro responds "The women carry the young and the men provide for the young. ..What does your kind do? Don't tell me the women do all the work and that you're utterly useless? You humans are quite the odd creature."

Guy is very much offended.

Black Lantern Jason.

After reading Darkest Night, I can't help but think that the black ring might have chosen Jason. Imagine 15-year-old Jason, through pain and tears, fighting his way to freedom after months on the brink of death. Voices around him whisper to him that he is not worthy of life, that all this is wrong. But that doesn't stop him.

When he finally leaves the grave, something glows right before his eyes. The Ring of Black Lanterns chose him, who touched the edge, who wanted not to wake up in his grave, a child.

His eyes are burning, his whole body is on fire.

For the first time he feels the bony hands of death so close and for the first time it doesn’t hurt so much.

Perhaps all this led him here? At this moment, somewhere all the lanterns felt that a new black lantern had appeared.

On the one hand, I really like Megatron's ending because he suffers consequences (the fact that he accepts them is the ultimate step of redemption), but on the other hand, it's really sad. So can we ask about his last conversation with Optimus, his conversation with the council, his last thoughts before his death, and whether he ends up with Primus or Unicron?

So this is in reference to 💧 : A sad headcanon and ⌛ : A final headcanon where post AOP, Megatron goes back to Cybertron for execution after all the humans he ever knew pass on. He gets arrested after he sees Optimus for a brief moment and confirms that the Survey Corps have died.

Despite Windblade's deal in chapter 97 about him not getting a trial at all and facing execution, Bumblebee manages to convince her to at least show fairness to prevent a political outcry from people who might still be loyal to Megatron. Windblade obliges but she's not happy about it.

So they put Megatron on trial and broadcast it for all of Cybertron to see due to high demand. Megatron is chained and there are guards littered across the council room to detain him. Megatron; however, calls Windblade out live, stating that this wasn't part of the deal that they had. Some Cybertronians are already getting the wrong impression, that Megatron is offended and thinking that he would get a lighter sentence if he came quietly, but Megatron immediately says that there wasn't supposed to be a trial, that execution was the only thing that awaited him, stunning everyone.

"I'm not going to stand through this farce of a trial when every single Cybertronian is well aware of my crimes," Megatron continued, "I shot Halogen in this very council room, starting the war that consumed the planet. I led millions of Decepticons to their deaths. I killed our planet by poisoning Primus, our creator. I took the war across the stars and brought it to Earth, killing innocent humans that have been and have not been made aware of our existence. Worst of all, I tampered with the blood of Unicron, nearly awakening him and bringing about the end of the universe. These crimes, and all the others, I am guilty of committing."

Megatron looked Windblade in the optic. "You once said that I did not deserve the courtesy of a trial. and that still stands. I do not deserve a single ounce of mercy. These hands bare the blood and energon of billions. The fact that I stand here alive now, is an insult to all the lives that have been slain at my hands, and to the survivors of my carnage."

Megatron turned his attention to one of the floating cameras in the room. "Hear me, any active Decepticons that are in hiding! The war is long over! End the pursuit of Cybertron's conquest! My last command to all of you!...is to live your lives in peace."

Megatron's optics fell right back to the council, raising his chained fists. "May this war finally end with my death."

It's an emotional moment that rattles a lot of Cybertronians. A lot of them questioning what happened to Megatron. The ruthless mech who slaughtered so many was now docile and repentant. Some are happy that Megatron's gonna go on the chopping block. Other's not so much. This wasn't the way many envisioned Megatron dying. Many of his victims, including Starscream, wanted him to scream and beg and cry out. But he was just accepting. Megatron's reaction has even demanded his death be put on hold to figure out what the hell happened.

Per the request of many, Megatron is given a psych evaluation by Rung, but Rung deduces that Megatron is of sound body and mind. Ever question, he answered with certainty. But there is one thing that bothers Rung.

"You could have stayed away from Cybertron forever. Never to be seen again. Why would you come back, knowing that you would be met with death?" Rung questioned.

Megatron stared at his servos. These servos that were stained with blood, these hands that repaired buildings and gave people homes, these hands that began writing once more, these hands that comforted his family, these hands that buried their bodies.

"Megatron?" the former warlord glanced at the therapist sitting behind the electric fence of his prison.

"Love." Rung dropped the datapad at that answer, "I came back because of love."

It was the answer that baffled everyone the most once they heard the recording. Love?! Love for who?! During the commotion, Bumblebee does manage to grab Optimus so that he could take him to see Megatron, apologizing for arresting him when he first came back.

Optimus is sparkbroken at the sight of his brother needlessly chained behind his electric prison. Megatron's optics were closed, but slowly opened when he sensed Optimus standing in front of his cage.

"Megatron...you shouldn't have come back!" Optimus exclaimed.

Megatron shrugged. "Too late."

"The treaty on that world!" Optimus reminded, "Once they realize you are gone, they could break it!"

"They would have broken it eventually," Megatron retorted, "The victims of the Rumbling have passed on, the next generation ignorant of the damage the Rumbling has truly caused. That world has advanced greatly because of the integration of energon and communications with Earth. Sooner or later, they would have stopped seeing me as a threat and looked at me for spare parts."

Optimus shook his helm at that. "What about their children?! Megatron, what about the children of the humans that we knew?!"

"They will survive. Their parents taught them well," Megatron reassured.

"But-!"

"I told you: my main motivation to stay on that world was because of the Survey Corps," Megatron reminded, "They're all gone, and I was not going to torture myself even more by burying Mikasa when I have already buried everyone else."

"Mikasa was still alive?"

"In her nineties," Megatron clarified, "Sharp as ever despite her old age, but...she would have passed on soon. We both know how fickle humanity is."

Optimus pressed his servo against the cage. "Megatron...you should not have come back. If they are gone...I cannot lose you too."

"That's not fair," Megatron declared, "I know that the two of us have reconciled, but I have hurt so many people. I cannot remain a paragon of hope on that world, not with the crimes I've committed. Eren committed similar crimes to me and is vilified as he should be. He was...he was disposed of."

"Because of me!" Optimus pointed to his chassis, "I had to end his life! I could not save my son from his fate, but I refuse to lose my brother!"

"My death is not your choice to make, nor is it your fault," Megatron stated, "This is something that simply must be. There is no other solution."

Megatron opened his chassis and managed to pull a flash drive out of it despite his chains.

"What...is that?" Optimus asked.

"Their memories. Their moments of happiness in a new world," Megatron answered, "You will fulfill my last request and take this. Keep it. Keep their memory alive. No matter what."

Optimus ends up taking the flash drive in remorse. Optimus apologizes for not being able to save him, but Megatron says it's alright. He's lived long enough, and he was finally at peace. Bumblebee has to take Optimus out of there before the guards can figure out what happened.

On the day of Megatron's execution, Windblade decides to grant Megatron one final request. And Megatron asks to see the sun rise on Cybertron one last time. He sheds a few teats when he does get to see it before heading off to his death. Meanwhile, Optimus can't bring himself to watch Megatron's execution. He locks himself away and mourns for a few days before accessing the flash drive Megatron left behind. The first memory Optimus sees is Hanji adjusting the camera before excitedly rambling on about their experiments.

As for Megatron's fate post death, I do allude to it in chapter 94, but it will be fully addressed in the final chapter.

I was listening to So Much (For) Stardust and accidentally had too many thoughts in one sitting so we have another AU concept. I don't have a solid name yet so I've just been calling Team Supernova AU.

Long story short:

Ghetsis freezes over Unova's major cities, taking most survivors hostage to join Team Plasma, and leaving several thousands dead from the frost

Emmet, Elesa, and others try fending off the Plasma Frigate in Nimbasa but ultimately lose with injuries (Emmet got frozen on his right side)

Emmet takes as many survivors as he can into the tunnels, later joining other groups to his and forming Team Supernova in resistance to Team Plasma

Ingo went missing about a year prior to all of this, so Emmet has already spent a lot of time alone. The only pokemon he has left is Ingo's Chandelure, as the rest did not survive the invasion. He's generally very cold and shut off emotionally as a result, and doesn't really express himself like he used to.

I'll drop more details later, right now the AU in early concept stages so it's essentially a bundle of "what would this be like" and "what if this happened" and "this could be cool". If I have time I'll drop some of the other uniform designs later. Anyways have a good night, see ya.
