happy birthday Mary! celebrating the birthday of a close loved one who would've been 100 year olds today <3 reflecting on where life has taken me lately !!! life is so strange and silly and magical and there's loads goin on in my head, in the world, all around us. struggling to find my faith but trusting what I know lies in my heart :)

I 100% believe that the main reason people are scared they'll lose their creativity after they get help isn't because of some sort of self hatred most of the time, but because of the very material reality that the psychological industry exists to make people "normal" rather than happy. Like, when getting "help" means conforming to social standards, and your art is something that actively makes you less normal in the eyes of society, than it makes sense that you see that "help" as a threat to your existence as an artist. Most psychiatrists would openly admit that they'd consider turning an independent creative into an emotionless businessman as a win, why is it suddenly a conspiracy theory when the patient understands that just as well?

“Anti-woke” culture and the phrase “it’s not that deep” is killing critical thought. What a pathetic way to view life. Let’s lobotomize our existences in order to be more palatable. Infantilize our speech to mere pedestrian talk. The term in and of itself is almost an insult to human intelligence. How dare the presumption that depth can be dismissed be brought into a conversation. Those who consider themselves “anti-woke” utilize these terms akin to a form of propaganda. A simple, accessible, monosyllabic device that can dismiss anything that contradicts your political ideology. Absolutely ridiculous.

do you ever just get so exhausted by the same characterization of characters in fanfic that you have to binge read hannigram fics??

like fanfic is riddled with characters wrestling with their morality and making sure they’re good people and if they even do something slightly morally wrong they’ll beg for forgiveness and apologize over and over again through stumbled rambling. and the characters feel guilty about the dumbest fucking shit like having sexual fantasies about someone and they spiral because “it’s not right and they don’t have the right to have sexual fantasies about that person”. and the romances are painfully all healthy and sweet and they have conversations about everything in depth.

like god fanfic is so filled with morality it can just be exhausting and sometimes i just need to read about two men who are unapologetic about how toxic they are and use murder and manipulation as foreplay.
