Debuted my crochet Zagreus at Otakon on Saturday!

This is my first crochet sword! (it lights sup and has a sensor to change the lights and play sounds when it moves, but the battery died the Saturday morning 😭)

Notes, breakdowns, and pattern info will be posted as I get a chance to edit the footage and notes I took. (I'm also starting a new job tomorrow, so patience is greatly appreciated 👍)

when i saw the prompt in my ask box for dan and phil crafts horror i thought they accidentally sent me my own prompt lmao. i was so excited to work on it that i accidentally did two, full-page colour comics. whoops. Also, I know you requested MCR but I don't know enough of their songs so I chose a FOB song (I've got all this ringing in my ears and none on my fingers) it's an absolute banger and weirdly fit this idea i had. I'll drop the version with no text here if that's not your thing! I had a lot of fun drawing this and it was totally out of my comfort zone. I hope you like it! Merry Christmas! :)

I think the other thing i love about Conclave is some of my favorite poets and writers are queer people who are/have been profoundly devoutly religious like the moment i found out benjamin alire sáenz went to monastery and was on track to becoming a priest before becoming a writer I was just like "Aha! That's what it fucking was, that's where this philosophical torturous burden and deep empathy for others I'm feeling from your work comes from" deeply intellectually curious devout clergymen are such interesting people, its delicious, you cant get that shit from anywhere else

wanted to do something physical for this month, so here we are !

Now that my wedding is all said and done, I feel like I can finally share one of my biggest projects that I took on for the wedding: my wedding shawl!

I started her in April this year and finished in August literally the day before school started. Could not have started the school year and knitted this thing. It was a challenge of my skills because I had put down the knitting needles when I started college. The last project I worked on prior to The Break ™️ was the cuff of a sock! I picked them back up at the beginning of this year when I realized my life largely consisted of just teaching or performing. The sock was finished and, in a timely manner, its second half was too.

I discovered a knitting group at my local yarn shop and I’ve been knee deep in knitting since. It’s gotten me out of my little social circle and connecting with strangers in my community. It’s like an extra third space where I don’t have to teach or perform. The folks in our group learn from each other, cheer each other, and commiserate with one another. It’s a special group. I would not have finished such a big project, and frankly, meaningful project without them :)
