you're in the habit of denying yourself things.

if someone asked you directly, you would say that you love a little treat. you like iced coffee and getting the cookie. you drink juice out of a fancy cup sometimes, and often do use your candles until they gutter out helplessly.

but you hesitate about buying the 20 dollar hand mixer because, like. you could just use your arms. you weren't raised rich. you don't get to just spend the 20 dollars (remember when that could cover lunch?), at least - you don't spend that without agonizing over it first, trying to figure out the cost-benefits like you are defending yourself in front of a jury. yes, this rice cooker could seriously help you. but you do know how to make stovetop rice and it really isn't that hard. how many pies or brownies would you actually make, in order to make that hand mixer worthwhile?

what's wild is that if the money was for a friend, it would already be spent. you'd fork over 40 without blinking an eye, just to make them happy. the difference is that it's for you, so you need to justify it.

and it sneaks in. you ration yourself without meaning to - you don't finish the pint of ice cream, even though you want to. the next time you go to the store, you say ah, i really shouldn't, and then you walk away. you save little bits of your precious things - just in case. sometimes you even go so far as putting that one thing in your shopping cart. and then just leaving it there, because maybe-one-day, but not right now, there's other stuff going on.

you do self-care, of course. but you don't do it more than like, 3 days in a row. after that it just feels a little bit over-the-edge. like. you can't live in decadence, the economy is so bad right now, kid.

so you don't buy the rice cooker. you can-and-will spend the time over the stove. you can withstand the little sorrows. denial and discipline are practically synonyms. and you're not spoiled.

it's just - it's not always a rice cooker. sometimes it is a person or a job or a hug. sometimes it is asking for help. sometimes it is the summer and your college degree. sometimes it is looking down at scabbed knees and feeling a strange kind of falling, like you can't even recognize the girl you used to be. sometimes it is your handprint looking unsteady.

sometimes it is tuesday, and you didn't get fired, and you want to celebrate. but what is it you like, even? you search around your little heart and come up empty. you're so used to denying that all your desires draw a blank.

oh fuck. see, this is the perfect opportunity. if you had a mixer, you'd make a cake.

I get why they're a similar price (the electronics are all the same no matter the size) but spending more money to cook less rice is sending me

i feel like people are sleeping on the occam's razor situation of how buckwild it is to outright accuse a guy of being a clone of your friend even if you DO have a lot of circumstantial evidence. there's other options is what im saying. they could just be like. a guy. that's a sensible deduction. you should explore that deduction. ignore my shirt that reads I <3 RED HERRINGS.

i still think odile has the correct theory on lock but she's smart enough to know it needs like... a real smoking gun to be able to bring it up without sounding insane.

Slow cooker beef on rice

SQH and all of his meals in the modern age are made in the rice cooker. Like, yea, rice. But he’ll put a steamer basket on it and make dumplings. Make a boiled egg for breakfast.

Eventually he finds this guy online who looks drop dead gorgeous and he teaches people other stuff to make in rice cookers. Everything from cheesecake to curries to yoghurt. The dude is insanely good with the thing, and SQH is smitten with this one dish wonder guy.

Eventually he goes on social media and the first thing he found after making his noodles was that his favorite foodie died from food poisoning.

He accidentally also died after spilling his food.

Eventually after his transmigration he hears about this wondering cultivator who has this mysterious creation he made. So obviously SQH has to see it

SQH: “is that a rice cooker.”

SY: “…perhaps.”

SQH: “bro I missed those so much they are so useful

SY just kinda nods his head, no clue who this guy is and cautiously eating his yoghurt.

SQH: “ugh there was this really pretty food guy who used them for one pot meals. He died eating yoghurt and I can’t stomach the stuff anymore”

SY: “oh yea, that was me”

SQH:?!?

Homemade Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate

zoro who isn’t the biggest fan of physical touch except when it comes to you. and one day luffy catches sight of you slipping your hand into zoro’s, tangling your fingers and relishing in the feeling of such simple intimacy. you attempt to subtly hide your interlaced hands by shifting closer to the table, pretending that you’re trying to get a better look at the map splayed out in front of your group of friends. and amidst conversation that continues to flow, showing now indication that they’ve caught onto your secret affection, you miss luffy’s quiet observation.

then the next time you’re all in the room, looking over the map, luffy tried to slip his hand into zoro’s.

“what the hell are you doing,” zoro yanks his hand back, glaring at his friend. luffy, cheerful as always, looks between you and zoro.

“but y/n always does it!”

the room erupts in shouts, a mix of shock and accusations of i knew there was something going on between the two of you!

and you can’t help but egg them on by stepping back slightly, half-mortified half-amused, to reveal your intertwined pinkies. zoro attempts to keep a blank expression, snapping (mostly at sanji) to mind your own damn business. but he can’t hide the flush that creeps down his neck.

the crew throws half-hearted accusations of secrecy at you both, but all throughout, zoro refuses to let go. not if it’s you.

At first i just wanted to design a new persona then i got to thinking about will seeds and maps and now we're here :///

Anyways fun fact about Goro's will seed doors: they've actually got inscriptions based around justice inscribed above them, it's really on brand for his messy psyche:

Basically, Joker is going to be very, VERY sick of the number five by the end of this palace. I figured hydrangea's fit, since Akechi's an actions over words kinda guy who'd absolutely couch his apologies deep down in his fractured mind behind a door only Joker can open (Note: this mind set is what got him in this mess, do NOT heed him--)

In my brain the Amphitheater is super-layered with tons of dead ends and minimal safe rooms. The final area can only be accessed via a side entrance on Robin Hood's stage, there's another hallway that's hidden on the uppermost level around the theater.

The treasure is pretty straight forward after that, the shadows that protect the Emperor's chambers are a mix of enemies made to counter all the thieves' affinities. Thankfully, Joker would have a full house at this point in the palace.

This AU takes place about two years post-royal with some change, so everyone's between 17-21 at this point. The palace deadline is more informed by Akira's rising paranoia the longer Akechi is trapped within his own palace.

"Shizun," Luo Binghe whined, shaking his arm. "What do you mean you've never cooked rice before?"

Shen Qingqiu flushed, leaning away from Luo Binghe and hiding his face behind his fan. "Is it really so shocking to Binghe?"

"I didn't even think that was possible," Luo Binghe said. He stared at Shen Qingqiu like he was some sort of alien anomaly. Which, in his defense...

"Where this master grew up, there was a... spiritual device that allowed you to cook rice very quickly," Shen Qingqiu muttered, bringing his fan up higher. "This master never learned any other way to make it."

Luo Binghe's eyes brightened, curiosity breaking through his shocked dismay. "Oh? What kind of spiritual device."

"Well..." Shen Qingqiu stuck his fan under his arm to make a gesture with bith hands, circling them in the air. "It was like a pot, about this big, that was enchanted to produce heat at just the right temperature and time to cook the rice. It was also enchanted to be, ah, that is to say, so that nothing would stick to the pot's surface easily. So then you would just rinse the rice, put it in with enough water, and after half an hour or so it was done. Oh, and it played a little song when it was finished..."

He got lost in his recollection of his beloved rice cooker and missed the expression of intense interest in his husband's bright eyes.

A few weeks later, when Luo Binghe excitedly presented him with an enchanted stone pot that sang like a flute while it cooked rice, Shen Qingqiu could only applaud his husband very earnestly.

"Binghe," he said, tugging on Luo Binghe's sleeve, "This master needs to tell you about another enchanted artefact from his home town. It's called a dishwasher—"
