i was making a playlist for an angst fic I'm writing and i realised the main character is very ooc and canon divergent in my fic so the playlist is very ooc and canon divergent. But the playlist cover is their face. This is bad.
Then i searched up playlists for them and the first song on the first playlist that shows up was Senorita by Shawn Mendes.
The character was Athanasia Al Ghul

I have heard some people saying that the show is going to address the issues of humans being discriminated against will be addressed in season 7 dark. What do you think about that?
Personally, I think it might be a bit too late for them to properly address it and do it in a satisfactory way especially because the main ship rayllum had rayla being prejudice against humans but her actions don't get called compared to Callum so i doubt her actions will be called out next season as both the fandom and the narrative love to frame her in the right when she can sometimes be quite hypocritical and in the wrong.
Also, I want zubeia to be called out for her actions and zyms father but I doubt that will happen either.
Another question I also don't like the series framing of dark magic. Now in season 6 (took us 6 seasons) to learn that dark magic creates a hole in your spirit and it corrupts you to aaravos but that feels like the writers adding it in there so people don't bring up the whole arguement that dark magic is bad because the narrative says so. Also the show doesn't convince me dark magic is so bad that viren SHOULDN'T of used it to save soren or that Callum SHOULDN'T of used it to save rayla.
Idk to be honest the handling of dark magic within the narrative is so confusing and bad.
Anyway sorry this got so long
My very upfront opinion is that there is clearly some dissonance, and perhaps even conflict, in the writer's room about Viren and Claudia, dark magic, the cost of it, and the intended take away from these characters and their actions.
Now, when writing, there's no particular requirement to be honest with your audience or to not accurately represent how history can be muddled and shift. "Humans learned dark magic" to "Unicorns taught humans magic and were slaughtered in thanks" to "Aaravos is implied to have taught humans dark magic" to "Aaravos's daughter Leola (a uni-horned elf) taught humans magic and was killed" is cohesive enough, even considering the writers are on record saying they may be changing things as they go, as happens with writing. (With dark magic being the main sticking point of anti-human sentiments, how and why it occurred matters.) I also don't think the show has never wanted us to sympathize with humans or not see their discrimination -- the sight of them in tears as they're exiled, evoking the Trail of Tears (still bonkers), or Ziard's bitterness over how humans starved or his terror when Sol Regem tricks him in hopes to destroy Elarion are moments of raw feeling where the camera centres humans and their pain. Most of our protagonists are humans, and Callum, though occasionally punished for his ambitions, is a character who wants magic who is heroic.
The ultimate problem, however, is that the show wants to have its cake and eat it too, which goes back to my earliest complaints in how they 'meta write' from what we expect of fantasy and muddle their own messages. Certainly this show could be a long-form exercise in tricking people into rooting for ethnic cleansing racists but like, it's a show for kids. Sol Regem is a bad dragon and he is obviously bad. Zubeia is a good dragon and she is obviously good. We're supposed to understand Sol Regem kinda had it coming and understand that Zubeia being hurt is allegedly sad. There's no deceit to this straightforward presentation. Viren, Claudia, and now Aaravos are sympathetic villains, but they're still villains. And when your villains come in two main flavours of Team Anti-Human (arising after humans wronged Xadians initially, natch) or Team Human (or adjacent) and every hero is Team Xadia because humans fighting against the disparity of their world is Causing Trouble while humans who extend the hand of friendship to Xadians are Bringing Peace, it ultimately teaches us that "Maybe humans had a hard time of it, but it's time they suck it up." I don't think there was anything more explicit to this than having our Out Of The Mouth Of Babes protagonist Ezran's Zubeia-backed speech at the Many Thunder Victims Memorial Valley.
A lot of writers like villains who have a point, because they feel it adds depth to them, but they often jump straight to "the villain is a marginalized person who is fighting for change in the Wrong Way" and this creates an implication that Fighting For Change At All is wrong because our heroes are never passionate champions for equality. They may like equality, but they say "Not now -- not like this --" and it isn't central to their beliefs. Team Xadia are not nominally Anti Equality or Anti Humanity, but their framing vis a vis our villains makes this lack of investment in the liberation of humanity quite clear.
All of this is to say that I agree, it would be too little, too late, and that the fact the show has *already established* humans as being victims of discrimination makes the narratives around them all the more galling and difficult to untangle. I absolutely would like to have the show deliver one of its extremely straightforward, directly to the camera-type messages on how humans were discriminated against, yes, but it doesn't fix six seasons of presenting all anger on behalf of humanity as something that is ultimately morally unsound and in need of changing. And how much further can they take it? Can they portray Xadians as a whole as privileged beings who have benefited from the mistreatment of humans? Not just a few bad apples -- can they actually, truly acknowledge Xadians as less than idealized? Can they take seasons upon seasons of trying to make us love Xadians and turn it around with frank questions about things like "reparations" and "acknowledging generational trauma without both-sides-ing it"? Can they give us a purely heroic human protagonist who is firmly Team Human and centres human interests? I don't think so. They prefer keeping to their "Callum and Amaya and Ezran constantly apologizing and putting down humanity in favour of their Xadian betters" agenda. (So bonkers they do this with three characters of colour, sidenote.)
Rayla is interesting because I think they have a fundamental disinterest in her inner world. She's so defined by her relationships with others and traumatic things that happen to her personally are ignored (her feelings on her banishment getting sidelined into Callum stuff, or her overcoming her fear of water to save Callum and Ezran happening off screen.) Her prejudice is a standard result of her upbringing but it's another thing that hasn't really come up in a while. I don't know if they so much want her as a character to be right, or prejudiced, or whatever, so much as they use her as a mouthpiece for particular opinions they need stated. She was learning about humans as much as Callum and Ezran were learning about elves and now she's learned she's just chilling being another one of Ezran's inexplicably pro-monarchy shooters.
Onto the second half of your ask about dark magic -- this season has firmly shifted the dark magic usage into an addiction metaphor, and so we get the "hole in your soul" (the anti-Birdhouse In Your Soul.) I do think this makes sense with earlier seasons. Dark magic has always been shown as corrupting the user (hence the monstrosity, and hence Viren being likely to die if purified of it, because it's become so entwined with his inner core) and this destruction of the self has been a reason to avoid it. I'll even be generous and say it's not entirely "Evil People Are Ugly" but instead a lot of "Self-Destruction Is Terrifying." However, I've been obsessed with this since I saw it:
"He shouldn't be monstrous in his final moments of heroism" is very funny. The writers are aware they have thoroughly codified Ugly, Monstrous = Bad and would try to bend themselves over backwards to let a Good Act be done via Evil Means in a way that minimizes the evidence of the evil means. This is why you have to put that "inherent evil" in quotation marks because real inherent evils don't tend to get a pass. And because they want dark magic to still exist in the show and still be used by sympathetic characters like Callum and Claudia without rendering them utterly reprehensible they have to make it the hole-in-your-soul addiction metaphor and say it costs the user as much as, if not more than, it costs the world around them.
Which is, like, fine, but at a certain point it is like -- Yeah, if we can see times where dark magic is basically a necessity because your choice is either "dark magic, or let your child die" or "dark magic, or let a dragon flambé your people" -- which many of us would consider non-choices -- then you have to respect that people maybe will have to make that choice. And if the cost is more on them, then ...? It's practically a noble sacrifice. To oppose it for reasons of Aaravos is a non-argument. Viren was mainlining dark magic for decades and it wasn't until he got that mirror that Aaravos became a problem and Aaravos isn't always going to be around ... not to mention that now that he's free I think he has abilities that go well beyond "souljacking." Aaravos in this case represents more the 'spiritual death' associated with this internal corruption. So can we find reasons to oppose it that go beyond The Harm It Causes To An Individual, Who Should Be Allowed their Autonomy?
They still throw half-hearted nods to the previous seasons much more heavy-handed "omg the beautiful butterfly" "omg the baby deer" (single crying tear) "stop hurting the environment" "magical beings are superior to you" type anti-dark magic rhetoric (see Claudia and the cat thing) but it seems the writers have come to realize they need dark magic to exist as much as the people in universe need it to exist, and so they're trying to focus more on the internal cost. Personally, I think this is a fine place to take it and if the intent is to return the discussion to how humans have been discriminated against, it's a wise thing to do. So I won't protest it much, although we can discuss villainizing addicts and so forth and why Rayla's lack of compassion in approaching Callum's dark magic use is difficult to watch.
It's funny, because I wouldn't even call myself "pro dark magic" as I do see it as harmful, but the hypocritical and condescending treatment of dark magic users in the narrative is something I take issue with more than the use of dark magic itself. This is why, if they are leaning into this more sympathetic reason for rejecting dark magic, I hope we see increased sympathy as to why dark magic is used and why, until humans are liberated (i.e. given equal access to magic and Xadian resources) it's pretty much essential.
Thank you very much for the ask! ♥ Don't apologize for the length, as you can see I love to ramble away myself. Also yeah didn't fit this in anywhere else but fuck that narrative deadweight Zubeia. Thunder at least got shaded by Rex Igneous even if Rex Igneous was Mean and Scary.
#ask#tdp critical#long post#*#trying to express my frustrations with how rayla is handled in my how would i rewrite tdp post#like i get what you mean about her writing and how they can't let things interfere with the ship#but i think moment to moment its clear they care way WAY more about callum than they do rayla or ezran#to be completely honest i think the writers are burdened by the show's rating and this leads to them being bored of characters they can't#take to the same kind of dark or complicated places as they can do with the pg appropriate dark magic users

i feel somewhat responsible for this, even if i’m not the one saying these things. I’m genuinely so sorry.
No need to apologize! It's not one singular person doing it and truth be told I don't think it's a large majority that thinks that (albeit the ones that do are quite vocal). I didn't mean to upset anyone or anything when complaining about it, I was just letting off some steam.
Having a yap session under the cut sorry I feel like rambling under your ask anon.
Admittedly, I do think there are reasonings for people thinking this way. A lot of the focus with Clash has been on the cogs, especially after the 1.3 update. Which I can't say I blame them! Managers were something new and exciting and (from what I can tell) really separated them from the other servers. I don't blame them for wanting to put focus on that because that was their thing. Alongside other things, but majorly when you hear Clash the managers are mentioned in someway shape or form. But as we all know, toons ended up taking the short stick from this. This isn't helped by the gameplay itself, being mainly a fetch-quest deal so you often only talk to npcs once or twice unless if they're repeated ones and the taskline wasn't entirely accessible on the wiki for a while (shoutout to the wiki maintainers. The taskline script is a savior). Which I'm quite excited to see if they deal with this issue with the rewrite. I imagine they will, but anyways. Social media posts would often contain more managers than toons, which I also believe they're starting to fix. And ontop of this, I believe most of the team in the early era of the sever is gone, so there's been some stuff lost in the change. So yeah, dialogue/writing has been kind of rocky. AGAIN- I am completely aware of the rewrite going on and I am not judging them harshly based off of their current state. I'm very appreciative of the fact that they took the time to listen and are focusing on trying to fix it up. And then there's also fandom mischaracterization- especially of the cogs. Forgive me for mentioning mischaracterization because normally I wouldn't really care (I've mischaracterized characters before..especially in my younger years. I think it's just a process of learning an having fun and I hate to limit anyone because of it). With that being said, there's a lot of baby-fying and coddling of the managers. Especially with those who have more 'sympathetic' stories (Misty, Chip, Winston specifically). Don't get me wrong, I like these characters and I can appreciate the story they're trying to tell, but I feel like so many people will hear their dialogue and then misplace their anger. People get mad at Bessie for trying to protect HER lighthouse or at the Elders for trying to keep YOTT safe (lets not forget Winston was there to brainwash toons). Yes, yes technically there would've been better ways to do it but consider this: The toons are scared. Their homes, stores, lives are being taken over by a big corporation that has more resources that they do. They don't have the privilege of waiting, seeing, and gathering. And then people forget that the company has such a huge role in both toons and cogs lives. If you're mad over the mistreatment of Misty or the fact that Winston is still in the dungeon, your anger should be directed at the company who doesn't care. I may be completely wrong in saying this, but I feel like the stories with almost all of the managers is a reflection of the company. The toons are only trying to protect themself and their environments and yet this seems to go forgotten when people start bashing them. And of course, I'd consider myself a toon guy so me saying all this and complaining may come off as "I HATE the cogs and everyone who posts only about them!" and for clarification that's not true. You all know how much I like that little brain thing. The cogs are interesting, their designs are fun, I don't blame people for liking them because I do too. I just wish that the thought process behind so many of these discussions wasn't so cog focused because I believe that this anger at the toons for, RIGHTFULLY, defending themselves helps push this mischaracterization of them as a whole. That they're mean, boring, unlikeable while the opposite is true. Yes there are some, what I'd consider, "filler" dialogue from the shopkeepers. This is just because of the gameplay. But there are some funny and cute moments with them if people would just listen and read.
Which also brings me into another point: people skip the dialogue. I've caught myself doing this before (on my first account. I have 4 accounts total, so I reread the dialogue on like 3 of them). But people will complain about lack of toon personalities while doing this. It's like reading through a comic book, only looking at the drawings, and then complaining because there "isn't a storyline". Luckily, there's been efforts to keep track of the dialogue on the wiki but I doubt a lot of people are going through and reading the entire script. It just feels very disingenuous to criticize the dialogue when you haven't even read it. Likewise, people don't seem to read the blogposts either. This is both from a dialogue aspect and from an update aspect (people continuously asking about hammerspace/mix-and-match under unrelated posts).
#clemask#clemramble#I think I hit some sort of word limit because it wont let me add anymore so im continuing in tags#It kind of feels like people want the toon resistance to be the perfect victim and then get mad when they act accordingly#Fear. Nervousness. Sadness. Helplessness. Anger. etc etc are all valid reactions to their situation#Not every toon needs to be heroic and whimsical. they're scared. their situation is scary if you think about it#they're at the risk of losing their environment and homes.#Obviously the cogs also have their own issues but I always see this brought up when talking about them but the same context#isnt given to the toons when thinking about their characters and communities as a whole#It's kind of weird to me because I feel like even pre-rewrite I know that I can still understand them and justify their actions#and yet people act like clashes (pre rewrite) writing is justifying the cogs when in reality its not#its just showing that cog society (reflection of workplace enviroment) has its own issues. i never saw it as a justification#even with misty. like I never once hated bessie? my opinion of her never changed even after mistys dialogue#bessie did what she had to do because she was scared and wanted to protect herself and others.#id do something similar if a cog (known for taking over towns) suddenly came up to me#PLUS bessie leaves misty alone afterwards. ppl act like she took a shotgun and shot misty dead and it makes me laugh#ANYWAYS SORRY ANON. NO NEED TO APOLOGIZE.#realistically if youre not saying it then i doubt youre contributing#I would say “i wasnt mad” or anything but to be completely transparent with you guys i was Not-Happy when writing that one post#but it's not directed at any single person but rather the idea itself. I'm sure after the rewrite people will chill out#ITS NEVER THIS SERIOUS im beefing over characters named pretty princess sparkles. im aware of how silly this all sounds ok#the clash fandom isnt the only instance of this. ive seen stuff like this in sw before so like. I know this isnt an uncommon thing either#normally id just keep this on a priv or between friends but something kinda snapped yesterday#i think its bc I just KEEP seeing posts like it with those “hot take” posts or whatever and ppl are always so mean about it#i also think some ppl just already dont like toons and look for every. little. thing. to go after them for#like the “youve been drafted line” i refuse to believe people took that line 100% seriously#or maybe this is all wrong and im just a huge toon fan. and in that case i will die on this hill#you will have to pry them out of my cold dead hands before you catch me genuinely bashing them#ok thats clems giant critques and complaints out of the way

Finally watched the final season of the Umbrella Academy. Gotta say, I don't think I have ever felt this betrayed by a series before.
#the umbrella academy#umbrella academy#disclaimer: just my opinion#I didn't watch game of thrones but now I know what fans must have felt like during that finale#it started out so well#but then it went down the drain#I like the idea of the plot#and I think it's mostly well executed#it just needed more time#and a few more rewrites#it felt like the writers didn't bother to rewatch their own show#like#why does Luther have the ape body when that was never part of his power#why does Allison completely forget that she can rumor people#why did they decide to include a love story between a woman and a guy 15 years her junior?#technically it's fine because they are both of age or something like that#but why?#It's just so out of character for Five#and him abandoning his siblings during the apocalypse to mope about it is just so wrong#also also#they can remove the marigold from their bodies#why didn't they just do that instead of sacrificing themselves#there also are still a bunch of other children left that were affected by the marigold what about them?#The visual effects also visibly got worse as the season went on#like the ending is sad for sure but I couldn't take it seriously#I'll assume the show ended with season 3#because seriously#what the actual fuck was this?

potential sonic 3 spoilers incoming if anyone cares. anyway . apparently there was an official survey about the knuckles show/scu in general and one of the questions was about what name you would use for an eggman/shadow/gerald teamup. which is a weirdly specific question. and also one of the name options was team dark …….. ?? even though rouge isnt mentioned in the question and theres no sign of her being in the next movie in general ? i was willing to accept amy being introduced a little after knuckles and tails but between there still being no sign of her being in the next movie and now this if they actually have gerald time travel or something and have him be the third member of the dark story trio instead of rouge then i will be fully convinced that theyre going out of their way to exclude as many already existing girl characters as possible. like i get cgi is expensive which could be part of the reason rouge might not have made the cut. but damn . assuming this is real anyway it could just be another fake leak but idk
#im not saying the writers hate all the girl characters (iirc they have said they like amy and rouge and shown interest in adding them)#and i also dont think the movies have to be complete copies of the games in terms of stories and characters#but some of the decisions being made here are so weird and kinda show a lack of care for those characters ..#its especially odd that iirc theyve said that part of what influences the choices on what characters to use is popularity/recognizability#both to fans of the games as well as more casual viewers#yet they might be rewriting a major part of the story just to include gerald over rouge?#and they wanted a character who was a ghost echidna that guided the living characters and they picked pachacamac#instead of tikal who both already fits that description And is more popular?#okay well i doubt casual viewers would know who tikal is but they dont know who pachacamac is either#and its also an objective fact that tikal is more popular among fans . Man .#also theres the thing of knuckles being given a connection to iblis when thats already elise (and blaze)'s thing#to be fair knuckles is way more popular and recognizable than elise. and i really doubt sonic 06 would get adapted#but still#maria IS confirmed to be in the next movie though#but idk if i would consider that to be a win for girl sonic characters#considering shes the only one known to be in it AND she dies#sonic movie spoilers#sonic movie 3 spoilers#i guess idk#also again considering the whole cgi thing i would have been willing to accept no rouge even if its disappointing#but to have gerald of all characters replace her is just so. what .... cant you just use agent stone or a new character or something#i dont hate gerald its just the idea of bringing him back to life instead of including rouge is weird .#anyway . we also dont have full context so maybe its nt as bad as it sounds. or maybe theyre hiding rouge and amy from us . IDKK#but also every new info about this movie we get has me like that one picture of a guy holding a cigarette and looking reallytired#and i hate feeling this way when i was so excited about the first 2 when they came out#sad ! well theres other sonic media

#gigi.txt#2024media#okay SO her tale of shim chong is a rewrite of a classic korean tale except now. its gay. its a GL#its really really good tbh i super enjoyed it tho the misogyny was like. comical levels on occasion#overall its a very solid commentary on misogyny with good fleshed out characters and it was a very good GL! super enjoyed it#on the complete opposite end of the spectrum little brother is about a girl who isekais into a BL novel as the male lead's sister#except its one of those super shitty abusive ones. and shes like NOPE! NOPE! FUCK THIS! and immediately moves 2 get him out of the way#except SHE ends up attracting the attention of the villain instead who originally tortured the brother but now he is obsessed w/ her#except not in a torturing way. its... its an interesting way. im fascinated by his portrayal and kind of obsessed w/ him tbh#however it completely gets rid of everything gay like the og mc gets with a girl and they have a kid and the og love interest#is in love with the f!mc. and like yeah bisexuality exists but its NOT portrayed that way at all and so thats. yeah#theres a time skip and the villain ML is going to come back changed as soon as the next season drops and we'll see if i still like him#bc if he swaps to the domineering yandere type instead of his prev type then no thank u#i wouldn't recommend it personally LMAO its trash

The only downside of rewriting world tour is that now I like Sierra. Love her even. But not canon Sierra, no no no. That Sierra sucks now and forever. The Sierra I love is specifically the version of Sierra I’ve written. The Sierra with depth and who faces consequences for her actions.
If I had a nickel for every time I’ve rewritten a story and grew to love a character I previously hated in the process, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird it happened twice!!
#characters in question are obviously Sierra and Kokichi from d*ng*nronpa#I won’t talk about the v3 rewrite lord knows I’ve mentioned it enough#but do you know how annoying it is to like a completely different Sierra than the one in the show#I can’t just search for content of her cause no one else makes stuff for My Sierra#DOUBLE EDGED SWORD#I’ve actually grown to dislike world tour the more I rewrite it#the more I go through the episodes the more I realize how bad the season gets#the less tolerance I have to rewatch it#ESPECIALLY THE LAST FEW EPISODES#it’s so sad. it’s so sad#that’s it rant over#total drama#total drama world tour#negative#Im not sure if there’s another tag for negativity#Starry speaks

Describing Chiba's personality like he's a main character on a well-written wikia page
Because way too many people mischaracterized him for my liking and enough is ENOUGH!
Note: I am ignoring the anime adaptation because the changes they made completely ruined Chiba's character.
Chiba generally appears to be a calm and serious boy whose maturity and professionalism for his age was always noted by others during missions. He always gets the job done with little to no complaints, simply allowing his results to speak for his high skills. Along with his fellow sniper Hayami, Chiba tends to be compared to a working adult.
But outside of assassination, Chiba is surprisingly fairly social and bubbly, often seen wearing a wide smile on his face and is rarely alone. He seems to enjoy the company of others and is always present whenever his classmates gather to do an activity together. Because no one can see his expression with the way his hair covers his eyes, Chiba becomes frequently misunderstood by strangers, but his close classmates described him to be a very gentle and soft-hearted person.
Chiba is very tolerant and tends to be a little bit of a people pleaser, always putting other people’s feelings over his own even at the risk of possibly wearing himself out. The reason why he hides his eyes is to accommodate his peers when he was younger since his intense gaze made him appear to be always on guard. Similarly, he dislikes letting others down. It’s why he never complains when his classmates began putting their faith in his skills when he was assigned the most important role in the Island Assassination attempt. He fears that letting his concerns be known before the attempt was made might shake his classmates confidence and he doesn’t want that. Hence, he swallowed his feelings and continued on with the job. Later, Chiba outwardly admits that he felt so pressured by the amount of faith his classmates had in him that it inevitably affected his usually near-perfect performance.
Chiba is notably keen on logic and prefers to only rely on solid facts when taking in information. He is a realist who lives in the present, using his five senses to quietly observe the world around him, thus noticing details that most people tend to miss. After the announcement of their final exam results when he noticed the dejected Karma despite the nonchalant front, he knew exactly what to do to cheer him up. Another example was when he decided to check on Kurahashi who was feeling down after Takaoka began taking over their PE classes, aware of her interest towards Karasuma.
His spatial awareness was what makes his sniping accuracy be of high level, easily being able to determine the distance between point A and point B while taking account of outside factors such as wind direction and trajectory of the bullet. In the Korosuu novel, he even shows his disinterest towards Hayami’s suggestion of using his “intuition” to shoot because it clashes with his extremely calculated sniping method.
Although he never brags about it, Chiba is rightfully proud of his skills and despises it when his abilities gets undermined and ridiculed to the point that he becomes very petty about it. When the Legendary Sniper called him a hindrance after giving him a warning shot in chapter 5 of the Korosuu novel, Chiba meticulously instructed Hayami to shoot back at the sniper out of pure spite.
His learned tendency to swallow his concerns when in the middle of a job makes other people mistake him for someone who always hides what he feels. But the surprising truth is that Chiba finds it easy to be completely transparent about his feelings, especially with how self-aware he actually was. Right after the Island assassination attempt was deemed a failure, Chiba wasted no time asking Ritsu to confirm what he had observed during the assassination attempt. He did not hesitate to express the pride and confidence he always has in his skills from how extremely well he typically does in rehearsals and practice sessions, as well as the growing pressure he felt from not wanting to let others down finally dawning on him the second he was about to pull the trigger.
By the time he returned to the hotel, Chiba was able to navigate through his feelings and let them out in the open for Ritsu and the others nearby to hear. Throughout the entire infiltration, Chiba did not once think back to his prior failure, more concerned with what is currently happening around him, like Korosensei entrusting him and Hayami to use real guns, which he finds to be an absurd thing for a teacher to do. Chiba’s method of instantly facing his feelings after the concerned matter is done with is what allows him to move forward without regrets.
Ever since the pep talk Korosensei gave to them, Chiba slowly began to voice out his concerns and share the details he had observed more often. It later turns out that he deeply respects Hazama because the ease she has to string her words together outloud with hardly any care about what others may think was something he couldn't replicate himself.
In Korotan B, Chiba noticed the direction of the conversation he and Puey were having and thus tried his luck to ask about the boy’s backstory while he was still being talkative. When the class became divided in whether they wanted to continue the assassination or not after learning the truth about Korosensei, Chiba volunteered to be the first to pick his side with no hesitation, which was the Kill Team. He expressed that he had long decided on what he wanted to do and will go through with it.
A rather hidden side of him was that he is an adrenaline junkie who gets very excited at the notion of doing something fear-inducing and borderline dangerous, like going to space or riding intense amusement park rides. He has a liking towards intense things in general, given his love for hardcore punk and metal bands.

Differentiating Chiba and Hayami's sniping methods using MBTI
This panel of Chiba and Nakamura I found interesting
#this was a very old idea#thought of it a while back when I saw Lee's wiki page rewrite posts for Yoshida#migh also do one for Hayami#because gawd too many people in this fandom completely misinterpreted her character AND confused her problems in island arc with Chiba's#when both are actually thinking about completely different things throughout the whole arc#assassination classroom#ansatsu kyoushitsu#assclass#chiba ryuunosuke#ryuunosuke chiba#meta#my analysis#analysis#wikia page rewrite#long post

Spoiler. Perhaps Griffin and Valtor based because of who I am as a person?
...The fact that I had trouble thinking of anything about Griffin x Valtor because I have a lot of ideas for them for the rewrite but all of them are discarded in various degrees. I changed the concepts of those scenes and the characters so many times that I have no idea what is going on anymore. That said, I was looking at my notes and I got an exciting, fresh angle to Valtor's behavioral patterns.
Valtor is hilarious in this because after he imprisons Griffin, he's visiting her at least once a day. He just can't help it. She's the only one that truly understands the goal here, not to mention that the Trix make him uneasy. I'm gonna go on a slight detour here about the situation with the Trix to give a better idea of the situation because I wanted to talk about it.
I absolutely despise the idea that the Trix will be so cringefail fight each other over a man. Plus, Darcy is literally Griffin and Valtor's daughter so I have gone in a different direction. First of all, they remind Valtor way too much of the Ancestral Witches and he simply Does Not Vibe TM. However, they will be much more dangerous left unsupervised, especially if any of the ex Coven members get a hold of them. Now while the Trix were with Darkar, they met some of the ex Coven members but, thankfully, none of them mentioned Valtor and his role in events so the Trix are blissfully unaware of who he is.
Valtor would like to keep it that way so he focuses on his divide and conquer strategy where they are concerned. He tries to make them jealous of the attention he pays to each of them but Icy is the only one who might be interested in him romantically sexually. Darcy wants his approval to a point where even she can't understand why until she hears that he was partners with Griffin and she remembers that she had the same feeling towards Griffin so what gives; is he her father and Griffin - her mother (as she has been suspecting for a while now)?* And Stormy just simply does not care as long as there's some shit to wreck AND she's with her sisters. (I can't afford another tangent so I'm gonna put the thing about Stormy in the tags.)
*Imagine the heart attack that Valtor almost has when Darcy starts asking him about his past with Griffin. They have an extremely funny case of misunderstanding where Valtor has heard enough about the Trix' relationship with Griffin to know that they suspect she has some kind of connection to the Coven because she knows things that she shouldn't know so he assumes that Darcy is trying to make him give himself away as part of the Coven and a creation of the Ancestral Witches. Meanwhile, Darcy is just trying to piece together the timeline and figure out if Griffin and Valtor are, in fact, her parents and she's getting so fucking frustrated by Valtor's extremely vague responses that she starts suspecting that he is hiding something about the Coven as well.
So Valtor resorts to plan B, which is to bait them with promises of power. Now the Trix literally need him and the protection he can give them or it's back to jail for them, and they are painfully aware of that fact. Unfortunately for him, that leads them to start digging and finally figure out what the deal is with him but anyway. All of this to say that the Trix have a completely different understanding of his quest for gaining more power and the ways in which he means to accomplish it. For them power is a literal means of survival and their one patented strategy is to steal the most powerful magic they can find so that it's theirs and no one else's. And that is exactly what Valtor convinces them is his own approach - steal all the powerful magic you can. Basically that is what show!Valtor does. However, that is literally just a front and not his main Objective TM and that is what brings me back to Griffin.
Not only was Griffin the only one who was ever truly his partner and not just standing by him because of the Coven's agenda or for personal gain, but she also knows his true method of collecting power - by dictating what people think. If you look at his behavior on the show, Valtor is constantly manipulating people via promises of what they want. There's the Trix, Cassandra and Chimera, Diaspro, even Bloom. Basically, the true power that he collects is the ability to control people's desires and from there directing entire kingdoms to get what he wants. And Griffin gets that. That was her goal as well - to change people's behavior towards dark magic users, which could be accomplished through Valtor's methods of drawing to his side people in key positions of power. Griffin does a certain amount of influencing the thoughts of her own students and their parents (some of whom are royalty/otherwise important political figures) as well.
She's the only one who truly gets his brilliance and he so likes to be admired. The Trix would not understand his true genius and he'd burst at the seams if that goes unrecognized. So he goes to her to brag. He wouldn't tell Griffin the most important details, of course, even if it wouldn't hurt since he's so sure of his victory over her and his ability to keep her imprisoned. This is definitely not the hurt and trust issues of her betrayal resurfacing alongside the simple fact that he misses her. Not just his partner in crime, but the person who would always appreciate him in full, see all of him and his brilliance that is so painfully disregarded by the sheer fact that his true form is characterized by the brute force of his demonic self.
You crying yet?
I should thank you for this ask since it literally focused for me Valtor's entire plan and behavior. I have a much more complete idea of the s3 story now than I did before I started attempting to answer this.
#winx club#wc rewrite#winx valtor#winx griffin#griffin x valtor#trix#winx darcy#winx icy#winx stormy#spoilers#ask#trashcankitty12#i almost forgot to add the bit about stormy's character arc#i just figured out how to do my idea for s4 and still stick to the fanon and kinda canon characterization of her as aroace#i'll make her be completely unimpressed by valtor's looks and charisma and then proceed with the plan for s4#which is basically a trix + wizards of the black circle team-up (but not really) where darcy and stormy really need the help#so darcy uses her psychic powers to convince gantlos that he and stormy are somehow spiritually connected or whatever#and stormy has to play along and she is just Dying about it because it feels awfully forced and she Hates It!#and there might be a little self-exploration there where stormy admits to herself that she might have been forcing herself...#to act like her sisters a little and appear to be interested in someone when she was in fact not just to not stand apart#because her sisters are all she has and she didn't want to be different#lmao imagine how this arc will transfer onto s5 when icy is fucking her and darcy over because of a GUY...#with whom she actually has genuine connection and it appears that stormy's nightmare is coming true...#as icy has found herself more connected with a guy and darcy is... somewhat? bonding with griffin who's confirmed as her mom now#poor stormy#she suffers#but they will be fine#back to fucking shit up and trying to murder the winx in s6

oh yeah no shade to anyone's headcanons and stuff (personally i've seen a lot of reeeeally cute and well-made art about it!!!) but i'm not really all that fond of the idea of test tube having kids. with fan or otherwise. she just doesn't seem like the type to me
#melonposting#nothing against test tube but i think she wouldn't be a very good mom. i can't imagine her wanting to be one either#and anyway in canon we have two instances of tt and fan together making pretty horrible parenting decisions#so i really don't think they'd be good parents!! not together anyway lol#like tt was being overly clinical about the egg and fan was being overly personally invested (like projecting himself onto it etc)#interesting stuff for their characters! good plot stuff! but if anything that's a sign they shouldn't be parents (at least for right now)#of course there's also bot but i don't wanna think about that if i'm being completely honest!!#i hope ii2 never acknowledges ii3 in detail so i can just brush it under the rug and never really think about it again#in any event if it doesn't then i can rewrite ii3 to my heart's content without worrying about it not being canon-compliant to ii2
