I'm REALLY curious who else read those parts and made it to the final rounds. We know the actor who played Jonah was a Louis finalist, but we don't know any other Lestats, right? It does sound from what Rolin has said like both Jacob and Sam were the frontrunners from their first auditions, and if that's true, he must have been so relieved when they had amazing chemistry with each other lol. It's just interesting b/c they clearly looked at a wide range of known and much lesser known actors.
Interesting too to think about who else read for Armand and Claudia (both times).
Oh! I don't think I even knew Thomas Antony Olajide was a finalist for Louis! That's so interesting and its awesome that they still managed to pull him in for a role - he was really good as Jonah! It's such a record scratch though to even consider him as Louis, because I honestly can't imagine anyone but Jacob in the role now, haha.
And yeah! Rolin says on the IWTV podcast that they got it down to about ten actors for both Louis and Lestat, but it does sound like Jacob and Sam were both frontrunners from the start. Mark even says in that same ep that he remembers Rolin saying Sam would be hard to beat after seeing his first audition and that no one ever did.
I'd love to know who was up for Armand and Claudia too. At least for s2 Claudia, I'm lowkey inclined to think the shortlist was entirely or predominantly British given the four auditions sound like they were on the same day, in-person in London and it was such a quick turn around for casting, but who knows with Bailey.
Armand I am soooo curious about, because I can't tell how broad they went for that role? Louis and Claudia were obviously very deliberately written as Black, but I don't know if Armand was (at least in s1) written as South Asian? They've definitely made that more central to his character in s2 as we've gotten to know him better in the context of the show, but with how he's written in s1, it'd be interesting to know if they were thinking as specifically about race for his character as they were for the others (and also who Assad [who's also literally perfect in the role] was up against).

i work in commercial real estate & 2 months ago a work client wanted to hook up their own internet line separate from our building's general wifi which HAS been done before and ISN'T an uncommon thing to happen in this world but every single step of the process so far has been exclusively participated in by either very stupid people or very smart people who have no idea how to speak to the stupid people. i am one of the stupid people. if this helps. anyway.
this should have gotten done in one short visit from our IT tech. instead it didn't , each respective visit failure listed below:
1. nothing in the building comms room has been labeled & they need a map to understand it
2. none of the existing wires and wire paths work for what they need or go near where they need so they need to special order a cord
3. ordered the wrong cord
4. ordered the wrong cord length
5. tech out of state had to reschedule
6. client's tech out of state had to reschedule
7. wrong cord
8. missing a tool needed to install cord
9. wrong plug for the cord
at this point worthwhile i think to tell the client i dont think they should be forcing something so hard that doesn't want to happen !!! theres no wu wei to be found on this path STOP trying to force nature into an inorganic shape (data line from the basement comms room 2 ur office)

Played cards against humanity with my family on Thanksgiving and quickly learned I had to use stupid sex jokes to get a laugh instead of laying down the scientology card in relation to what the new celebrity reality tv show is about.
Obviously no one knew what scientology was because the idea of a talking head celeb being Wild Biting Vicious talking to the cameras absolutely frothing being like, "Tom says he has 14 thetans, but I know for a ✨fact✨ he's only got 5" was way funnier than everyone else's suggestions.

MOST ACTORS THINK HEADSHOTS ARE AN OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY DRESS UP
…and have a nice photo taken. BUT there’s sooo much more to a headshot than that.
Headshots are a marketing tool, a business card of sorts. They are *not* simply nice pictures of you.
Blaze Robert Stow: The Nurse / The Hipster / The Edgy Biker
As an actor you need to shift your mindset and understand that headshots are the most important tool your reps rely on to get you work. You need to think of headshots as an opportunity to do business. YES, business.
REMEMBER, HEADSHOTS ARE YOUR BUSINESS CARD.
They need to be able to give a potential employee your elevator pitch.
In business, that’s your 30 second pitch to a potential customer letting them know what you do, why you do it and how you do it.
In your case, headshots are your elevator pitch to potential employers (casting directors) letting them know what you do (what roles you play), why you do it (why you can play those roles) and how you do it (how you can play those roles differently from anyone else).
Understand the connection?
So how can your headshots 1) convey what roles you play, 2) convey why you can play those roles and 3) convey how you can play those roles?
Here’s how.
WHAT ROLES YOU PLAY:
This is determined by your age range (usually a seven year range) and what your look *and* essence can support. You can see a list of looks in different age groups here.
WHY YOU CAN PLAY THOSE ROLES:
Is determined by your headshots conveying that you look the part. So you’ll need to make sure you dress the character properly to clarify your look.
How you can play those roles:
Is determined by your unique personality in those headshots– differentiating you from everyone else. Because hint, YOU and your unique personality *is* the differentiation.
Now that you understand how headshots are a marketing tool, you need to make sure you approach your session with a business plan.
Your looks should be specific and picked out in advance, your outfits should convey those looks clearly and your personality should come through the headshots letting casting directors know you can play the part!
