Something about Gabrielle giving birth to children she doesn't want children who die. And something about Lestat giving birth to a child he doesn't want, fully aware that the child is doomed from the start.
(x)
I'm actually kind of curious about what they do with that, because Lestat's the one who actually wants Claudia in the book (although it is partially to babytrap Louis, haha). I don't think they'll revisit her turning again - and I don't want them to, I love the version we got - but I do hope they play around a bit more with Lestat wanting a family, not just a companion. Like I mentioned in those tags too, him having so many fledglings and wanting them, and his mother having so many children and not wanting them kind of sits with her relating Lestat killing the wolves to her having Augustin / childbirth to me in this kind of strange, sticky, deeply compelling enmeshment where they entangle these things that shouldn't necessarily be connected as a part of her relating his body to her own / taking ownership of his body and experiences, and him sort of still living with the long tail of that. He's compulsively making babies by choice when she was forced to - although that new dynamic with Louis sort of forcing Lestat to make Claudia (although obviously under very different circumstances) kind of feeds into that too in a way that could be really interesting.
I'm just thinking out loud now, haha, sorry, but yeah! It definitely feels like themes that are in conversation with one another.
#me turning these characters over constantly in my mind haha#gabrielle asks#claudia asks#lestat asks#you do kind of get the family bit though given lestat's the one who first calls claudia a daughter when louis' trying to get him to turn he#which felt really loaded on the revisit#iwtv s3 speculation#lioncest asks

I know it’s silly to feel anxiety over something you don’t even know is gonna happen or not but because lestat and claudia’s relationship was made so much worse on the show I’m afraid rolin won’t show their more softer moments where lestat loves her and she loves him in turn. I’m afraid that even with season 3 the show is still gonna feel like louclaudia vs lestat and the fact that lestat was also claudia’s father is going to continue to be overlooked in the show help
I wouldn't be worried at all, anon, especially as I think the show's already given weight to their softer moments and that that will only be deepened in s3. Like, so much of the montage in 1.04 is devoted to the three of them being - briefly - a truly happy family, and that was re-emphasised in 2.08 at the trial. There were moments of emphasis on their specific relationship within 1.04 too, from them hunting together in a way that's playful in a way it never is with Louis, to her birthday party and Lestat gifting her the Marquis' necklace, 'to him teaching her how to drive and play piano.
I think the show's going to depict it as complicated because it was, and Jacob even said in that recent flurry of press that Louis' grappling with the fact that he wasn't always a good father to her which I do think will likely be contrasted with Lestat starting to accept that he wasn't always a bad one. They're both both, and they both loved her and they both failed her, and they've been clear that her death is something that neither the characters nor the show will ever move past. With Delainey definitely being back too, I expect it to be a significant part of s3, so, yes! I wouldn't be anxious :-)

Him being described as tall and thin feels right for Magnus
(x)
The way Anne describes how he moves always reads a bit spidery to me, and so the actor being tall and thin is really perfect to me in that sense.
#also it's going to work really well i think with that sort of handling of lestat and the other victims as sort of being dolls to magnus#especially if lestat kind of looks like he should be able to take him in a fight#only to realise so rapidly how powerless he is to the whims of him#magnus casting

he really is built like an inverted triangle…. **thinks about The Waist too long and begins to pass out**
He really really is. And the thing of him looking smaller or larger at different times is so true, it really feels difficult to get a handle on him physically lol. Like here, he and Jacob look like they have basically the same size waist, but then Sam broadens out into a triangle and Jacob is smaller the whole way through, though there's not a huge size difference between them. I think Max Irons is standing on something in that first gif, but yeah Sam somehow seems or projects tall until you see him next to someone actually tall. And I don't know if that's the shoulders or the jaw or the voice or what.
https://x.com/amjellyy/status/1952165665680564360
I've seen 5'11" and 6'2" both given as heights for Magnus's actor, but either way he's certainly taller than Sam and it's hard to think they won't play with that, especially with Marius' actor REALLY being tall.
(x)
He's truly a chameleon, haha. I'm actually not sure if Max was standing on anything in that first one, given their height difference looks pretty much the same elsewhere, but regardless, it's definitely pretty stark.
I actually don't know if the 6'2 for Damien Atkins is real given the only place I've seen it is on his FamousFix listing (although he's described as tall in this interview with him which I found the other day when I was Googling him to try and get a sense of him as an actor [also getting a better look at him for fic writing purposes}), but the 5'11 isn't accurate as far as I can tell. It comes up when you search him, but it's actually the stat for Damien Adkins, who's an Australian football player. I think the AI summary is maybe tripping people up, because that's the only place I've seen 5'11 crop up when I was Googling him the other day.
#way more information than you require haha#i was at a scene with magnus in the courtesan au though so i did quite a bit of googling#also i was just curious because i'm not familiar with him as an actor#he's had a really interesting career though!#i can't wait to see how he approaches the role given y'know#it's a pretty major one even if it's a short-lived one#magnus asks#kind of?#sam asks

Sam thinking about Lestat's most extra, flamboyant moment of the season and saying we'll know it when we see it. I desperately need to know what was in his mind right here.
#i can't even begin to imagine honestly#it could be just because that gif of john lennon doing it in get back crossed my dash again but#i do feel in my bones though that lestat's going to fellate a microphone on stage though#sam reid#sdcc2025#iwtv cast

Louis with a completely straight face: I'm the Normal One :)
(1. there is no Normal One and 2. It's definitely not Louis. )
Exactly! The whole point is that Louis thinks he's the normal one, when he's really just deranged in a different way, haha.

now i'm scared. louis being more unhinged and extreme than lestat? i imagine it has to be about claudia because what else would leave jacob shaken and be like "i don't recognize this person"? do you think it could be about louis mocking lestat's sexual abuse? he already mocked lestat's illiteracy and armand's abuse but still i thought that there're some lines that he wouldn't cross. i know this is gothic fiction and all of them are awful people but as a survivor myself if they had him being cruel about lestat being abused by gabrielle or magnus i don't think i could ship them anymore.
He doesn't say that Louis' more unhinged and extreme than Lestat, anon, he says that he's unhinged in his own way and a bit of a headfuck even to someone like Lestat, and he is!
But no, I don't think Louis will mock Lestat's sexual abuse (at least, I don't think he will in that scene - I wouldn't rule it out though in the future, given his fight with Armand, and I really appreciate that that would be a line for you with the relationship and the show). Sam indicated at the press event though that whatever happened is about their shared history, and that's just not something that's in that at this stage in the series. I really do feel like it's most likely going to be either about Claudia, or potentially Louis flexing a professional, legal or financial power to stop Lestat trying to tell his side of their story, either musically or with the documentary.
#i was trying to think of what else jacob and sam haven't had to do yet#and louis is in a really different position in terms of his social status and the power he's able to wield in rooms like that#than he was when they were together#and it does seem like he's trying to placate lestat / that lestat's the one upset about something?#but again it does seem like it escalates#love that we're still analysing this wobbly little cam scene haha#iwtv s3 speculation#iwtv s3 spoilers#cw rape#just to be safe

i love what jacob said, that louis is also quite a headfuck and a lot to take on even for someone like lestat, because a lot of times people act like he's this level-headed normal guy who got saddled with a basket case husband he has to manage when really it's crazy4crazy in the loustat household. and i love that ❤️

It’s so interesting reading your thoughts on how Lestat’s sexual trauma impacts him and how he sexualizes himself and is sexualized by others. It feels like the show is really going there. I can’t help but wonder what that’s like for Sam to act, because everyone on the show is presented as beautiful, Louis is obviously seen as super beautiful, but Lestat is really the one being seen as this gorgeous, hyper sexualized object of desire, and i wonder if that’s flattering to be asked to play that and have people reacting to your face and body like that, or if it’s weird or uncomfortable in a way even if he loves playing the character so much, if he’s used to it (as Eric said about Sam and Jacob lol) and it’s just another day at the office. You said you felt like he was deflecting comments on how he moved?
Thanks, anon, and yeah! It's kind of blowing my mind a little that Rolin and co seem to have really committed to exploring it, because while I think it's so important to understanding Lestat as a character, they definitely could have downplayed it and focused more on Lestat as just as like, a sexy hedonist generally - hell, the QOTD movie certainly did. The fact that they're going all in on getting to the root of his sexual trauma and how it defines his relationships both with himself and his own body, and with other people is just beyond my wildest hopes for the adaptation of these stories.
But yeah, I mean, everyone wanting Lestat to the point that so many people can and do just take him (or at least try to) is kind of the central feature of the character in a lot of ways, and I don't think it's just his looks or sexuality that necessarily pull people to him. He's charismatic, of course, and has a capacity for survival, but - and I'm sure we'll see this in the new season - he is, as Nicki so aptly puts it, just someone full of light and wonder for the world around him, and he continues to be no matter what happens to him.
Which is to say that I think Sam probably know that the way he looks as Lestat is only one part of why everyone wants the character, and that kind of desirability and the need so many have to possess him has to be rooted in his performance even more so than simply how he looks. It probably is weird though regardless, haha, and I think we've seen that a bit in press like him changing the subject in the panel or moving onto technical elements of performance, or praising (while also joking about) the costumes. It is the role though, and it was one he obviously wanted so badly, so I think he knew what he was stepping into, even if it can be weird maybe sometimes.
#he obviously puts so much thought into the way that he performs as lestat too that that probably helps separate it out a bit?#but yeah i can't imagine it not being kind of weird haha#but then i don't look like him so maybe he is just used to it#lestat asks#sam asks
