Nina Lakhani at The Guardian:
A Donald Trump-appointed US attorney has told one of the country’s top law schools to immediately end diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, warning that his justice department office will not hire students or other affiliates associated with a university that utilizes DEI. In an extraordinary letter sent to the dean of Georgetown law school, the recently appointed interim US attorney for the District of Columbia, Ed Martin, said he was investigating the academic institution after it had come to his “attention reliably” that they were teaching and promoting DEI. “This is unacceptable,” wrote Martin, in a letter re-sent this week after the original sent in February was misaddressed, according to the Washington Post. “At this time, you should know that no applicant for our fellows program, our summer internship, or employment in our office who is a student or affiliated with a law school or university that continues to teach and utilize DEI will be considered.” The letter was reportedly addressed to William M Treanor, a constitutional law scholar and one of the nation’s longest-serving deans. Martin, a conservative activist with no prosecutorial experience who has been nominated to take control of the DC office permanently, put two questions to dean Treanor: “First, have you eliminated all DEI from your school and its curriculum? Second, if DEI is found in your courses or teaching in any way, will you move swiftly to remove it?” Martin’s letter was first reported and posted by the Post Millennial, a rightwing website. The move was condemned by legal commentators. “Federal prosecutors don’t control the classroom. This is a dark abdication of the first amendment,” said Adam Steinbaugh, a first amendment lawyer at the Philadelphia-based Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (Fire), on the social media platform Bluesky. This is the latest attack by the Trump administration on diversity, equity and inclusion practices which proliferated as part of the nation’s reckoning triggered by the 2020 murder of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer. The White House campaign against tackling systemic and structural inequalities in US society have so far led to outright bans on agencies, academic institutions and private businesses – some of which are being challenged in the courts. In one case, a federal judge has temporarily halted enforcement against large universities and publicly traded companies from a Trump executive order canceling federal contracts that include components of DEI.
Ed Martin is a pathetic disgrace to America.

for these troubling times, it is a bizarre experience to be a STEM major because you don't look up from your books enough to realize what's going on-
"Shit, did Trump just defund all of everything ever this last Tuesday- and, oh shit, I really have to fucking study, back to the ten slideshows it is." When I gradaute in two years, I'm going to look up triumphantly, not realizing that in the meanwhile, everything crumpled around me.

Oh by the way, Trump has colleges by the balls right now. He's completely brainwashing everyone by whitewashing history, punishing teachers who say anything about homosexuality or transgender individuals in a positive light, and ridding of diversity speech within the schools all together.
"Why don't they just.. Disobey?" Trump threatens to rid of government funding for whatever schools don't comply, obviously meaning they will go under. They literally can't fight any of it.

Students need our support right now.
As of April 28, over 800 (now 900) students have been arrested for protesting on campuses. Instead of listening to student demands, university presidents are calling the police and armed guards to shut down their activism.
Like a majority of people in the U.S., students want a ceasefire in Gaza and an end to genocide.
It has been over 200 days of Israeli massacres of Palestinians. It must end.
Students have played a pivotal role in changing the course of history, helping bring an end to the Vietnam War and South Africa's apartheid. And once again, students are making history.
Students are demanding that universities divest from corporations profiting from Israel's apartheid and genocide. They will not be silenced.
Take action with us. Email 27 university presidents and chancellors responding to nonviolent dissent with punishment and violence.
** Once you send emails on the first tab you will get moved to the next tab with more targets. The list keeps growing.

i read ‘cqms’ as cang qiong middle school earlier today, and ive been thinking about middle school teacher shen yuan for literally the whole day
shen jiu and shen yuan are 6th and 7th grade teachers—sj teaches history and sy teaches life science.
after having a miserable time in sj’s 6th grade class, lbh is anxious about having the other shen as his teacher in 7th grade—but sy is orders of magnitude nicer than his twin. he puts a stop to the bullying, stays late to help binghe with science (and later, his other subjects too), and doesn’t write binghe off as a ‘disciplinary problem’ or a lost cause
by the time he reaches 8th grade, he’s gone from the absolute bottom of his class to near the top. he takes sy’s science electives, and he comes back to visit his favorite teacher whenever he has the chance
and then he goes to high school.
the one thing that carries him through high school, and later through his middle-grade education degree, is his dream of returning to cang qiong and working alongside his favorite teacher…until that teacher falls in love with him. he’s definitely not staying at cqms any longer than it takes to get sy to love him back. and the best way to accomplish that is to complete his student teaching hours under sy’s guidance :)

Donald Padgett at Advocate:
The Department of Education is urging the NCAA to strip awards and records from transgender athletes. The NCAA last month banned transgender student-athletes from participating in sports aligned with their gender identity. “Because of President Trump’s bold leadership, men will no longer be allowed to compete in women’s sports regardless of how they identify, and the NCAA has correctly changed its tune on its discriminatory practices against female athletes,” Candice Jackson, deputy general counsel for the DOE, said in a statement. “The next necessary step is to restore athletic records to women who have for years been devalued, ignored, and forced to watch men steal their accolades.” President Donald Trump has targeted transgender rights in a series of executive orders in the first days of his second administration. One of the orders signed on January 20, his first day in office, entitled “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government,” defined sex as male or female based on the “immutable biological reality of sex.” On January 29, he signed an order entitled “Ending Radical Indoctrination in K-12 Schooling” which barred schools that receive federal funding allowing trans students from participating in sports, using bathrooms and changing facilities, and choosing pronouns that align with their gender identity. [...] The new request would affect the awards and records of University of Pennsylvania trans woman swimmer Lia Thomas, who made history in 2022 as the first transgender NCAA Division I champion when she won the 500-yard freestyle event. The NCAA did not indicate whether it will honor the new request. Meanwhile, Jackson made clear her department will continue to target the transgender community. “The Trump Education Department will do everything in our power to right this wrong and champion the hard-earned accomplishments of past, current, and future female collegiate athletes,” Jackson said.
This is an egregious act of anti-trans history revisionism, all done to appease anti-trans extremists such as Riley Gaines.

Andy Kroll and Nick Surgey at ProPublica:
ProPublica and Documented obtained more than 14 hours of never-before-published videos from Project 2025’s Presidential Administration Academy, which are intended to train the next conservative administration’s political appointees “to be ready on day one.” Project 2025, the controversial playbook and policy agenda created by the Heritage Foundation and its allies for a future conservative presidential administration, has lost its director. In recent weeks, it faced scathing criticism from both Democratic groups and former President Donald Trump, whose campaign has tried to distance itself from the effort. But Project 2025’s plan to train an army of political appointees who could battle against the so-called deep state government bureaucracy remains on track. Video trainings like these are one of the “four pillars” of that plan, says Spencer Chretien, the associate director of Project 2025, in “Political Appointees & The Federal Workforce.” For transparency, we are publishing the videos as we obtained them.
The Heritage Foundation and most of the people who appear in the videos cited in this story did not respond to ProPublica’s repeated requests for comment. Karoline Leavitt, a spokesperson for the Trump campaign, said, “As our campaign leadership and President Trump have repeatedly stated, Agenda 47 is the only official policy agenda from our campaign.”
ProPublica and Documented partner up to reveal 14+ hours’ worth of never-before-published videos from The Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 Presidential Administration Academy.

The right to protest is promised in the 1st Amendment of the constitution.
The illegal reprisals have already started. See also the illegal arrest of a grad Student on a student visa solely for having political views Trump doesn't like.
