Am I the only one who thinks that the bishop did not kill someone with that clove tea, but either helped some woman to get rid of an unwanted pregnancy or used it to cause a miscarriage to prevent the birth of an heir in one of the kingdoms?
Or perhaps to make sure no one knows who the father was since the child‘s looks are a dead giveaway in this realm? Perhaps the woman was even raped?
#maybe this is too dark#but it would be an awesome twist#would explain why this is his secret#The bulbian church sure wouldn‘t allow something like that#my imagination is just running wild now#dimension 20#the ravening war#brennan lee mulligan#bishop raphaniel charlock#clove#clove tea#dark#dark story#dark story idea#d20 trw#matt mercer

A Step By Step Tutorial On How To Prepare Moroccan Mint Tea AKA Atay
Cypher x Omen // Bittersweet Hurt/Comfort // 2,184 words // AO3
It is a sweet kind of love. Though, it is far from what is usual. They’ll dance around each other, wisps and tripwires scattered about, and they’ll cover each other perfectly. No one gets through, no one gets behind them. On the rare occasion their back is turned to the enemy, they’ll discard their troubles soon after. Cypher was always careful with their flanks.
Their dance extends outside of battle. Words spoken here and there, rarely a full conversation. They’ll taunt and bicker and mock one another, but they will never pass up the opportunity to praise the other. They’ll never say it out right, no that’s far too plain, but they’ll hide it in their mockeries and show the other the back of their hand.
That’s what they’re both comfortable with. Yet what’s even more comforting is the silence. When they reach a mutual understanding, a peace, they are happy, but they won’t risk anything more. Only a fool loves a ghost, and both of them know that.
But it wasn’t just Omen playing the role of ghost, Cypher was quite good at that as well. Close-kept, elusive, and undeniably a runner. He disappears the moment he wants to, and he’ll be there again when he wishes. He is living proof the walls have ears, but now they have eyes too.
Omen knew this well, and it only reinforced him to keep quiet. Strangely enough, despite that conditioning he would always end up talking more than he wanted to whenever he would remember that fact. He’d speak his mind more, elaborate on his opinions, talk a little faster, all to other agents that weren’t Cypher. He knew the man would be listening, and something about that made him sickly anxious despite their shared appreciation for the other’s company.
Cypher on the other hand couldn’t stand dark rooms in the comfort of HQ. He was more calm when in the dark alleys of Rabat, or anywhere else really, than in the common room while late. He would never spot Omen first, despite his eagle eyes. It made his heart rate jump, though that’s a fact he would never tell Omen. It’s not like he needed to anyway, Omen felt it every time.
This time was different. He had gone to make his midnight tea in the kitchen area of the common room and like clockwork spotted Omen without realising it. It was almost as if he had done this thousands of times before, and his voice radiated the same kind of energy.
“Ah, there you are, my friend.”
It shocked himself when he realised he had seen Omen before Omen had seen him, but that was unreadable. It was endearing to watch the wraith’s shoulders tense and his head whip around to Cypher’s direction. It took a moment for him to respond, but Cypher was always a patient person.
“Tea, I presume?”
Omen’s voice despite being so quiet seemed to have filled the room louder than Raze’s normal speaking voice (which was loud) at least to Cypher.
“Why else would I be here.”
Cypher turned his back to reach for his canister of tea from the back of the top cupboard. He placed it on the counter, barely making a noise, and prepared the electric kettle. Omen watched. Cypher was never sure what the wraith was doing before he would join him in a room unless he was midway through knitting, even if he was watching the man before so. It seemed to him like Omen enjoyed sitting in empty rooms all day. Perhaps he was content with just thinking.
He shrugged to himself unconsciously as he took a glass tea cup, a metal teapot, a jar of sugar and a table spoon from the cupboards. Omen watched this too. Once the kettle boiled and clicked off, Cypher took a glance over his shoulder before opening the tea canister. A fragrant scent came from it and a part of Cypher wished he could take off his mask to get a better smell.
“Do you know how to prepare tea?”
Cypher asked without looking. Omen thought for a moment. He seemed to always take some time for his answers.
“Only the kind that comes in bags.”
Cypher clicked his tongue multiple times as he looked down on Omen’s taste.
“No, no, no. The ones in bags are never that good of quality. Come, I’ll teach you the way we do it where I’m from.”
Cypher took another glass tea cup from the cupboard. The glasses were decorative, rimmed with gold and arches of colour. An uncultured person might think of it as a pretty big shot glass. Cypher hated those people, but couldn’t blame them.
Omen had been standing next to Cypher for more than he realised. His body jerked when he turned to see Omen so suddenly close. Though ‘close’ is an overstatement as the wraith was over two feet away from him.
Cypher quickly relaxed and gestured Omen closer. Omen obliged.
“First, you take the tea leaves—”
He opened the canister, placing the lid on the counter and taking the spoon to scoop leaves into the teapot.
“—Just two scoops, and you put them into the pot. Then with the hot water—”
Omen nodded along, unsure what to do with his hands. He ended up a bit distracted by the feeling until he ultimately crossed his arms to solve the problem. Meanwhile Cypher took the kettle and poured into the pot.
“You cover those leaves. You let it rest like that for a while so they expand and the flavour comes out.”
Omen was unsure why Cypher had decided to teach him any of this. It was impossible for him to consume anything, solid or liquid, though it was a nice thought to be able to offer tea for others. Then again, Cypher’s tea was the only batch in the HQ and he didn’t seem to like sharing it.
Wait. There were two glasses out.
Cypher poured the small amount of tea from the pot into one glass. It was dark, and slightly foggy colour. It perfectly filled the glass just bellow the brim, but it seemed like the process was not finished.
“This is what you call the spirit or the essence. It has a very strong flavour to it, but you don’t drink it as so.”
Omen stayed silent as Cypher poured more hot water into the pot and picked it up. He made a circular movement with it, his gloved hands carefully pressed on the shiny metal with care. The contents inside sloshed around, a faint noise came of it. Omen took note of it all.
“Now this batch is how we wash the leaves, we don’t drink this part.”
Cypher poured the wash into the other glass, then poured it into the sink. He rinsed the cup lightly with water, dried it with a paper towel, and then placed it back down exactly where it was. He was always so meticulous with his work.
Omen began to realise why Cypher took so long with his tea. Such a tedious process for a simple drink, he wondered if it was worth it.
“After all of that, you pour the water into the pot until it’s almost full and you add the spirit.”
Cypher chuckled a little. Omen assumed it was at the irony of the name considering his form. Cypher didn’t explain it but added a few tablespoons of sugar as he shook his head. Omen didn’t understand it.
“This is my favourite part, especially when people not from my country watch.”
Omen watched as Cypher poured into the cup, but this time he raised the pot high into the air as he did so. His elbow was barely bent.
Droplets of the tea spilled and Omen couldn’t help but flinch, or his own version of it. His arms twitched and patches faded away only to quickly return. Did Cypher make a mistake? He was never a messy man. He never enjoyed leaving a trace. Yet, Omen found nothing negative radiating from Cypher, not even a feeling.
Cypher then poured the contents of the glass back into the pot. He repeated this two more times and Omen swore he raised the pot higher each one. A few more droplets spilled here and there.
“And that is how you mix it! Now remember, if there are no bubbles, then it is not Moroccan.”
So that’s why he was pouring it from so high. Omen couldn’t help but make a strange connection to how beer was enjoyed with less foam, yet apparently it’s the opposite with this kind of tea.
“Now, it is done.”
He poured into both cups, giving one of them to Omen. The wraith accepted it and kept it between both hands. It was warm, hot even. It was probably too hot for comfort but temperatures didn’t bother Omen as much as it did for anyone else. He couldn’t help but let a thin sheet of worry manifest when Cypher took his own glass. Was his gloves heat resistant?
“Thank you,”
Omen began to finally speak again after Cypher’s demonstration. He continued.
“For teaching me. Though, I’m sure you’ll enjoy the tea more than I can.”
He placed the cup back on top the Counter. Cypher’s lenses shot wide open and Omen wondered if it was shining a brighter blue now.
“Keep it, keep it!”
The Moroccan’s free hand patted the air as he reassured Omen that it was fine. He wanted to give him the tea no matter. He couldn’t let him decline, he couldn’t let him leave it. This was important, this was expensive, this was meaningful. His voice spoke the same way it would when telling Killjoy not to look into the dark web.
He tried to make it seem like he was just being nice, like this was just a courtesy, but Omen felt everything he the man felt underneath. It startled him as much as it startled Cypher. There was a pause between the two, both pairs of ‘eyes’ locked onto each other. It was yet another moment before Omen took the glass again, maintaining eye contact while doing so.
Cypher couldn’t help but be relieved and his shoulders dropped with a quiet sigh. With his worries washed away, the flooding realisation that the tea in his hand was scolding hot came. He had been holding onto it for too long and it was beginning to be painful. He exchanged it with his other hand, cleared his throat, and straightened his back. He looked back to the counter, ending their little staring contest.
“You know I can’t drink it, yes?”
“Of course I do. I don’t forget easily, Omen.”
“So why do you want me to have it? It seems like a waste.”
“Just don’t pour it into the sink in front of me and I’ll be fine. If you do, I’ll make sure to tell Clove that new anime you’ve been watchi—”
“Don’t.”
Cypher laughed. The tea was getting colder. He needed to go.
He took a tray and placed his glass on it, then the teapot. He put the sugar away and washed the spoon before storing that too. Then all that was left was the spilt tea. Omen still felt a bit queasy about it, but that quickly went away after Cypher wiped it with more paper towels.
Cypher pinched the brim of his hat and bowed his head to Omen. He took the tray into his hands carefully, and Omen as always watched.
That was something ironic to Omen. In a group of people, Cypher cracked jokes but was still the quiet guy. Omen conversed with whoever struck conversation with him, yet when it was just him and Cypher, he was the quiet one. He would listen, he would watch, despite that being Cypher’s job.
“Thank you, again.”
“Of course. I share to you what you can’t have of your own.”
Omen tilted his head.
“That is?”
“Culture.”
And Cypher left without another word.
It hurt Omen, that knowing remark. He should be used to Cypher hurting him like this but it never got easier. It’s small words like that which made him question why they found comfort in each other. Words he would gladly cut out of anyone else’s throat. But he knew better, and Cypher knew that well.
He took a deep breath and focused on keeping himself together. Wisps had been escaping him more than they should have been after the comment, and he couldn’t have that. He returned to his corner of the room, enjoying his ‘favourite pastime’ of thinking thoughts.
Cypher watched. Omen knew.
Omen held the glass up to under his hood and smelled the tea. It had a unique minty aroma to it. It was nice. He thought a candle with the same scent would be a pleasant addition to his room. He would check his phone later to see if any stores sold such a thing. A candle with that minty, and sweet smell.
Or maybe, just maybe, he would ask Cypher to make him tea again.

Tea is so good. I have some pear green tea and some chrysanthemum tea I bought from an Asian market. I also like dandelion tea and lemongrass tea. I tend to prefer herbal teas because I can drink them before bed.
I like coffee too but half the time I feel too dehydrated to attempt to drink coffee. (i should be drinking more water ... if u struggle to drink water like me I recommend herbal teas)
Hot tip: Don't drink coffee when u feel dehydrated, you'll get the runs.
#my posts that i made#i'm slightly allergic to cloves so unfortunately i don't drink chai. (it just makes me phlegm and throat itchy) same with pumpkin spice#drinking water is just as fun as swallowing my own spit.. so i tend to not drink enough water#it is the caffeine that is the diuretic so you kind of remove that property when u drink herbal teas#and even with black/green teas it is much less diuretic than coffee#i like coffee but i must be careful unless i want to get the runs ..#i've gotten better at being able to tell when i'm dehydrated . but it's still difficult#i also don't drink coffee when i have an allergy headaches

I've seen on the Palia official site that they plan on expanding relationships up to level 5 which has got me very excited for future updates.
On a related note I really like Kenli and Eshe as characters and I hope I can either mend their relationship or at least convince them to get an amicable divorce.
#I didn't like Eshe at first but then she said I did a nice job with my house and now she's my bestie#We're having dari cloves tea under my brand new pergola#I could also talk at length about how much I love Kenli he's such a sweet bumbling fool with more money than brains I love him#I could sneak contraband right under his nose and he wouldn't even notice#In fact he'd offer me help#Which is exactly what happened already lmao King shit#palia#palia mmo
