Okay, I'll hand it to Chuck- he has the most amazing royal portrait ever.
I'll just repost my thoughts from Spoutible:
"It's hard to believe this is an official portrait. The painter straight-up made Charles look like a smiling devil stepping out of the fires of Hell, drenched in an ocean of blood. It's amazing.
The pretty butterfly over his shoulder adds a touch of innocence that makes it all completely surreal."
Oh, and apparently it's a monarchy butterfly. Because puns.

I think you might appreciate this summary of all the jewelry worn by all the non-British royals at Chuck’s shindig? https://www.thecourtjeweller.com/2023/05/foreign-royal-jewels-with-another-secret-tiara-moment-at-the-coronation-of-king-charles-iii-and-queen-camilla.html
As much as I dislike the Windsors, man, what a fascinating article to read. For those who are also iffy on the British Royalty, the article is about the foreign royals invited to the event and some of them are a) hot as fuck and b) wearing gorgeous jewelry.
Also I sent this to my mother, who loves all things royalty regardless of who or where, and she was DELIGHTED. We agreed the Queen of Eswatini is wearing what mushrooms would look like if they were a dress, but also that it's a gorgeous dress and she's wearing the hell out of it.
I was bummed to discover the Crown Princess of Greece brought a clutch shaped like a book rather than bringing an actual book.
(Michaelis brought a book to Gregory's coronation. Well, the thing is HOURS long and he was seated where nobody could see him. It was Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.)
Royal jewelry is an insane rabbit hole to climb down -- the last time I was looking up royals, because my parents decided to switch allegiance from the British to the Norwegians, who are more attractive and less....Like That, I found this messageboard that I still check regularly because it's fascinating.

The Middleton Family has a Coat of Arms too, they should also make a website and start monetizing their connection to the BRF. They can write in their bios all about how they are serving the monarchy by raising a future King.
Again, as I said yesterday, everybody is free to do whatever the hell they want, but in the moment that W&K and the Middletons do something with that freedom, Windsors act offended, attack them in the press and want to punish them.
I mean, Chuck even was bitching about the Middleton spending more time with George than him (but failed to mention that it was him the one who was busy all the time). Imagine if the Midds do something about the cost of arms, he and Camilla would embarrass them with their pals in the press and they would act.
Oh, I know and I agree. Pippa was given hell for writing an innocuous book, meanwhile we have the likes of Meghan milking a book written by immigrant women and taking credit for the entire thing years later.
I don't know why I am still here bitching about Chuck and hoping that he will come to his senses. The man is 75 years old, if it's too late for Harry to grow up, it sure as hell is too late for his father.

Hello! I wanted to ask what brands you like to buy traditional art supplies from. I've been buying Winsor & Newton products along with some Faber Castell stuff and I wanna see what you use and recommend.
Thank you and have a great day! :)
I mix and match depending on needs. People will swear by one brand, and an equal amount of people think it's mid at best.
For example: Windsor and Newton never behaves nicely for me. I live in a primarily hot, dry climate and so working wet consistently is a non-starter. If I'm doing plein air, the paints WILL dry out. And I've found M Graham to be the best quality paint I can purchase in a tube that won't crack when dry, and rewets good as new. It owes this quality to its honey binder. I also love me Beam Paints, an indigenous paint company in Canada that, like M Graham, uses honey binder. It's pricey but one set goes a LONNG way.
I tend to seek out brands beyond Windsor and Newton too because WnN is so common, I just want to see what else there is. And I've been rewarded for that search.
Faber and Castell served me well for an initial set of ink liners (similar to micron), but I'm more in favor of Japanese brands nowadays. Their scripting techniques mean a wide array of accessible drawing tools with the kind of flex and bounce far superior quality to felt tip pens in Western media. They last too. I have 10+ yr old Pentel Pocket Brushes that I continue to use.
I've been having fun watching a lot of Youtube videos by artists describing their preferred materials. Do note: for actual shopping suggestions take them from the ones who draw or paint like you want to. I've seen people recommend Himi gouache all over Youtube, but most gouache painters would give you a litany of reasons why it's not a good investment beyond "fun to play with". Thing is, Himi sends gouache sets all over art-Youtube and whenver you get free stuff, you're gonna want to say nice things in return. Keep that in mind.
But it's still the same advice: get what you need based on your needs. Don't get super expensive stuff if you're just trying out, but don't get stuff that's such subpar quality that you want to chuck the media at the wall in frustration (You want to make that wannabe Jackson Pollock on purpose at least). There's plenty of cheaper and mid-tier media that's perfectly find for long term use.
But an all-around solid recommendation is Canson paper. Canson is imo way better than Strathmore and at about the same price point and just as common. It can take a beating. Get a Canson sketchbook. Any of them are good. I love Canson.

#everything you need to know about rock
Where are your seventeen years?
Eric Clapton joined his first band, The Roosters, at the age of 17. They played mostly in Greater London. Among the venues where they performed were the Carfax Ballroom in Oxford, the Ricky-Tick clubs in Kingston, Reading, West Wickham and Windsor, the Wooden Bridge Hotel in Guildford, The Jazz Cellar in Kingston, The Scene in Ham Yard, Soho and Uncle Bonnie's Chinese Jazz Club in Brighton.
Eric Clapton became famous as a member of the Yardbirds, but before that he made a living performing in coffee shops and pubs, both solo and with another guitarist named Dave Brock, in London and in his native county of Surrey.
Then, at the age of 17, he joined his first band, which was called The Roosters. The band was put together by guitarist Tom McGuinness, who had just failed an audition for an R&B band with brass instruments.
youtube
"My girlfriend at the time, with whom I lost touch for many years, but to whom I am now married, asked how it went when I left the stage," he told the Village Times. "And I said, 'Oh, that was terrible. I was in the wrong place." And she said, "Oh, don't worry. This is Eric, who I study with at art school, and he loves the blues." That's how I met him! Then we had one of those conversations where we just threw names at each other: he called Jimmy Reed, and I called John Lee Hooker; he called Muddy Waters, and I called Buddy Guy. So we knew we were thinking the same way.
McGuinness then invited a familiar pianist Ben Palmer, as well as vocalist Terry Brennan and drummer Robin Mason. As Michael Schumacher reports in the book Crossroads: The Life and Music of Eric Clapton, they rehearsed either at the Prince of Wales Pub in New Maiden or at the Wooden Bridge Hotel in Guildford, performing blues songs by Waters and Howlin' Wolf or rock and roll songs by Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Fats Domino.
But they didn't have much impact on the burgeoning London blues scene. "The Roosters rehearsed more than we played,— Clapton wrote in his autobiography. "Even though we performed from time to time, mostly in rooms upstairs in pubs, we were more excited to meet like—minded bluesmen."
It didn't help that the guitarist was still far from perfect. "I knew just enough to be able to play and finish the job," Clapton admitted.
There wasn't enough work to feed themselves, and it was difficult for them to get to those rare concerts because only Mason had a car. Therefore, The Roosters disbanded in August 1963, about six months later. "It was a nightmare," Clapton added, "but it was a lot of fun."

I think that for the short-term it is about the vacuum left by Catherine and Charles being out of the public eye for a bit but in the long-term it's definitely rebranding towards a half-in/half-out situation
And do you think Chuck and Will will allow it? I see Charles inviting them to Balmoral or Christmas (since they were proud to parade Andy and Fergie there), but half in-out?
I also see another blogger saying that they only need those minor events (private holidays) with the Windsors to be successful on their rebrand about being royals. But do you think that is their intention? And do you think they will achieve it?
I mean, I know press is interested on them and stuff, but I think they are already too ‘burn’ to be successful on a royal rebrand
Chuck yes? William? Doesn't matter as long as Charles is King. and if it happens while Charles is King then William will be the bad guy for tearing down whatever system they come up with.
will they be successful at rebranding as royals? Probably not entirely. Monarchists don't like them and I believe their stans will follow them wherever they go and will probably praise them for their big hearts if they do reconcile with the family.
but a closer connection with the family gives them attention which gives them connections which gives them money and that should be enough. They will never be at Anne's level of popularity and, even though they'd love it, right now I think they're just doing whatever gives them a quick buck.
