There is not an exclusivity deal in any jurisdiction that does not come with some kind of financial benefit to the party agreeing to be handcuffed. That is the whole point of deals like this.

It's not to the tune of millions and millions of dollars, but trust me it's a seven figure guaranteed payment no matter what.

Do you really think they have avoided financial ruin? No money from Netflix unless they are able to develop an interesting project on their own, and is a fact they can't do it.

The seasonal specials of WLM are a win, true, and it allows M to keep going with As Ever for a little while, but I doubt that's enough to sustain their lifestyle.

Even if Charles is paying them a couple of millions a year to keep them quiet and attack W&C, I don't see how they are going to manage in the long run. Are they betting on Charles's inheritance? Because they are probably going to have to fight Camilla and the Parker-Bowles for the scrapes that William doesn't get.

It's hard to say given that none of us know the exact state of their finances. I do think it's safe to say they aren't exactly thriving. Even if Charles is picking up their security bills, they have an eye wateringly expensive lifestyle.

Her business isn't profitable yet, almost no new business turns a profit in it's first year. Her scarcity marketing technique is proof positive that she is selling tiny batches of her crap, crap with razor thin margins, crap that Netflix gets a share of profits from.

One more thing in respect to their first look deal, all exclusivity deals come at a price. Netflix will absolutely pay them something in exchange for the exclusivity arrangement, it's just that it is nowhere close to the guaranteed money they were getting under their previous overall deal. It's probably a couple million dollars a year.
