More than 300 children, including two 10-year-olds, were found working at McDonald's restaurants across Kentucky and several other states in violation of federal labor laws, the Labor Department said Tuesday.

In one case, investigators found two 10-year-olds were working unpaid and until as late as 2 a.m. at one McDonald's restaurant in Louisville operated by Bauer Food LLC, which is based in Louisville, the department said in a news release.

The two children prepared and distributed food orders, cleaned the store, worked at the drive-thru window and operated a register, investigators found. One of them was also allowed to operate a deep fryer, a task prohibited for workers under the age of 16 under federal law.

Most of the restaurants, 45 of the 62, were in Kentucky, according to data released by the department.

The revelation was part of an investigation into the child labor law violations in the Southeast. The agency also found three franchisees that own more than 60 McDonald's locations in Kentucky, Indiana, Maryland and Ohio, "employed 305 children to work more than the legally permitted hours and perform tasks prohibited by law for young workers" the Labor Department said in a statement.

The franchisees, Bauer Food, Archways Richwood and Bell Restaurant Group, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. CNN has also reached out to McDonald's for comment.

After a low-turnout school board election in which several far-right members joined their ranks, they hired a Christian law firm, decided to begin banning books and reopened the bathroom issue. Board President Matthew Gelazela, who was elevated to his post after previously serving as the board’s most vocal bomb-thrower, pointed to Red Lion’s discriminatory policies as something to aspire to.

Now, upon the advice of that law firm — the Harrisburg-based Independence Law Center — the board approved spending $8,700 to cut windows so passersby can look into the so-called “gender-identity” student bathrooms.

AITA for helping my daughter bond with her dog?

Ever since my (50M) wife passed away a few years ago, it's just been me, my daughter (5F, lets call her N) and the family dog. She's a well behaved child, although unfortunately I haven't been able to spend much time playing with her due to my demanding government job. As a result of this, N has grown very attached to the dog.

For some context, I'm known in my field for having done something no one else could years ago. My job's been putting more and more pressure on me to recreate that success ever since but I've never been able to again, and recently I've been told I'd lose my job if I could not recreate the results. As you can tell, this has been weighing down on me but thankfully my job sent over some teens (lets call them E and A) who needed my help and didn't mind looking after my daughter so I was able to focus more on work. They were getting along really well and got rather close even.

It all came to a head when I found the solution to my problem. My little girl's always wanted to help out her papa and has been begging to recently so I decided, why not? And with her help, I was finally, finally able to recreate the results that would save my job. She and the dog has been invaluable to my 'research' and now they're closer then ever. E and A did not react well to this, even though they should understand the importance of our work more than anyone, and E nearly beat me to death. So tell me, am I really the asshole in this situation for trying to keep my job?

I'll never understand how hitting an adult who deserves it is assault but if you do it to a six year old suddenly the law gets vague.

Surely the smallest, weakest and most vulnerable demographic of people in the country should have more legal protections, not fewer.

D-16 here is doing his best to get these two acclimated to Neocybex, both the Common and Ilmentite (a dialect that's utilized by deep underground miners). He has treats hidden in his hands if they can get specific glyphs right. Scraplet/Orion is very much motivated by food. Juno is highly motivated to get the language down so she can wholly curse the mecha that stole her away and be understood by everyone.

Because D-16 no longer has companions his age, he latched onto the two little 'newcomers.' as they're the only ones that can venture out and do their part to help the cohort. He's happily 'mentoring' as he mimicking what the adults do for the fresh newbuilds. The adults around him think it's both cute and disheartening as no one has the spark to tell D-16 that there's a really high probability that those two won't make it (Spoilers: they do.) as sparklings that get sold to the mines typically have issues that surface-dwellers refuse to take.

Although Orion is the oldest of the three, D-16 had more consistent meals and the protection of an adult cohort to ensure he was able to develop normally. While Orion is shorter and less ornate due to delays, he has a far greater tolerance for different fuels, denta capable of crushing rocks, talons on agile hands, and very advanced sensory systems. Hence why his audials and antenna are detailed. Right now, he's pinging and listening around them in case anything (or one) tries to sneak behind them. That box is his best friend as Orion can't believe these mecha just try to throw away decent food! (It's a disposal crate meant that's currently meant for minerals. And yes, Orion sleeps curled up to it.)

Juno (a June Darby that descended from a Cybertron/Earth hybrid) is fretted upon by the adult miners around her. Because of her heritage, her armature is relatively weak, and those 'thin' robes are a part of it. Unlike a usual Cybertronian sparkling that can not remove their armature until a later stage in adolescence, her kind can due to their extended duration of frame development and constant manipulation due to a cross of Earth shapeshifters/humans and Cybertronians over the generations. (Their communities developed a strange relationship between wearable clothes and their natural-born armature.) The mask is part of her tribe's way of life. Less about hiding identity and more to help the young tap into latent abilities by drawing on the blank slate to invoke simple spells or transformations. That blank mask with those empty and dark optic holes creeped out many until she took it off. Nor does she have a 'proper' helm as she has an exposed mess of thin cabling that she can control. She has them tucked away in low buns whenever she needs to follow D-16 or his parent's cohort out of the Den. D-16 likes poking them since he never seen anything like that in his life. Despite her small stature and dainty appearance, she's a little menace that's currently full of rage and would absolutely bite the throats out of the mecha that stole her.

The harness she has isn't from her tribe but from the Snatchers. It's actually a specialized inhibitor and a tracker. The raiding caravan was hoping for the nearby Wilders to launch a rescue so they could track exactly where the main of the communities since young creatures, practitioners, and Seekerkin would fetch the highest credits and prizes from high rollers and the elite. Since her robes have sigils and runes carved inside to hide her and she lacks a T-cog, she was sold to the Tarn's mines as she seemingly had none of the 'exotic' and powerful abilities of the Wilders.

Some little extra details:

The boys are far more dirty since Juno has some sigils to keep herself clean for longer periods of time

D-16 is playing 'I spy'

Those blocky thick stripes on D-16 are harzard stripes and doubles as a unique identifier to his creators' cohort in case anything happens since D-16 doesn't count as a full person yet

The box in Orion's hands has two Cybertronian scripts. The top is Common Neocybex (TFOne glyphs), which reads DISPO. Shorthand for disposal. It reads left to right. The other is the written version of Ilmentite (glyphs from Gen 1 comic and Transformers video games). It actually skips vowels and reads top-down. It's cut off, but it says MINERALS.

Orion's antenna and audials make subtly clicks and can move independently.

I want to say that being a Swiftie is its own punishment, but a whole horde of them have caught COVID from her concerts and are calling it the "Eras Tour hangover". Literal plague rats.

And yes this goes for every fucking celebrity putting their fans lives in danger to line their pockets. None of them have spoken up for any of the genocides going on or shown donations to them. Minor Sonic Movie related vent but it actually has more to do with the actors and every time I see anything with Tom and Sonic, I just get the ick because of this, and it sucks—

So forever ago, I watched the documentary about child stars who grew up on the Nickelodeon channel called ‘Quiet On Set’. In this documentary, Drake Bell comes forward and tell his story on severe SA and r*pe and grooming that was done to him for YEARS, ending when he was about 15 years old if I’m recalling correctly.

I’m not going to talk about the Drake Bell allegations and such, that’s not why I’m making this.

I’m making this because during his story, he talks about standing in court as a CHILD and looking at all the A-list stars and celebrities that were there defending his abuser. How so many wrote letters to the judge defending his abuser’s character and persona in an attempt to get his sentence reduced or the case dropped altogether.

Let me clarify. What this abuser did to Drake was absolutely and unequivocally one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever heard in my life, and it’s not for the weak hearted. As someone who was kidnapped and r*ped as a child, it was extremely triggering for me and frankly struck a nerve.

The celebrities that defended this abuser were listed and named. One of which was James Marsden, the man who plays ‘Tom Wachowski’ in the Sonic franchise.

Now. I know there’s nothing wrong with Tom. He’s a character. A beloved one that most of the fandom has accepted with wide arms. But I just wanted to let everyone know… James Marsden sucks. Like. S u c k s. Anyone who would defend such vile acts against a child has no business being in a children’s movie, and in my opinion, it wouldn’t be shocking if he likely supports and has committed similar acts in the past.

I had REEEEALLY been hoping Shadow would just kill him in this last movie. But sadly, it didn’t happen.

All this to say, continue loving Tom. I myself write fanfictions with Tom in them. But just—

Be aware.

Captain Avery vs The Thing from Another World aka "what if instead of possessing Hunter, Philip went onto possessing Jacob instead and tried getting revenge on Gus for the illusion spell in King´s tide?"

this is how things go in the timeline of Emperor´s Acolyte AU , i wanted to explore more on Gus n Philip´s squandered potential for a dynamic and how would Gus act under pressure of being isolated by a very dangerous man , doesnt help that such man also decided to kill another human right in front of him (yes, Jacob does not survive this timeline) , Gus cant even properly do his breathing exercises while cornered so he resorts to counting numbers , but Belos trying to shush him in the way that he would with Hunter pulls him outta the fear out of shock as you can see. Gus isnt kidding when he says he saw - everything -.

other things of note is that Belos didnt get splatted in King´s tide by Collector like in canon, so his form Was more stable, and his stay in the human realm went differently , more disappointment, more fear and desperation building in naturally from actually confronting the town and the way things inevitably change and religion breaks down, in a way Gus goes thru that journey as well in realizing just how utterly flawed the Human realm is ,trying to come to terms with a loss of innocence and trying to find wonder in the people and the variety of experiences humanity has.

idk why people say learning how to swim is so hard like. its so easy. i learned by my grandma holding my head underwater for long periods of time so i learned how to hold my breath and then she drove me out into the middle of the lake of rage just the two of us, threw 6 uear old me into the water aitjout a life jacket, then told me to meet her at the shore and drove off.

and it worked. i made it back to shore. it wasnt hard at all. from there we worked on getting better at it but like the fundamentals down in one day.
