I saw a slideshow about which states in the U.S. allow child marriage and the comments were like “Yes but that’s with parental permission.” as though that somehow makes it better. The institution of child marriage throughout history has generally been precipitated by parents selling their children for higher social standing, financial gain or simply because they no longer want to be responsible for them. It was not a phenomenon caused by loved children being stolen off the street in broad daylight.
As someone from a rural area in the south, almost everyone has at least one female family member who was a child bride. Usually the story is that girl’s parents said “You’re 14, that 30 year old who is perversely interested in you has a good job and will be a good provider. We approve of you marrying him because we can’t be arsed to care about you and a woman’s worth is only as a mother and wife.”
This is still happening to this day in fundamentalist religious communities through the U.S. where a girl’s worth is often based on how chaste and ‘innocent’ she seems, older women seen as more worldly and impure by virtue of being more wise. So many fundies get married at 17, 18, 19 or 20 and their parents would probably marry them off at a younger age if they could. And sometimes they still do.

Rules of abusive households:
We don't talk about things in this house
We don't clear anything out and instead everyone walks away with their own assumptions
We don't tolerate children having any emotions unless it makes us look good in front of someone
Adults are always right and can make children do anything, with no regards to human rights
If children do not go along with this thats disrespect and the children are pronounced evil and threatened to be kicked out of the family
Anything a child does can be interpreted as disrespectful and punished
Adults can disrespect children all they want; they earned this right by being older
If adults are struggling with anything it's on children to understand and offer care
Children are not to be allowed to need anything; if someone took care of their needs then they would become entitled, spoiled, selfish, arrogant, disgusting brats
Children should not be seen or heard if an adult is in a bad mood
Children should not be difficult to find when an adult wants something from them
If a child is thinking something that potentially makes an adult look bad, they need to be shamed and prevented in ever engaging with such thoughts
Children need to feel bad for parents no matter what, even if the parents are doing active harm to the children's well being
No matter what, parents must not be made to feel like bad parents. Parents feeling good about themselves is the main point of having children and it's the children's job to make them feel as good as possible
Any harm done to children is to be assumed to be 'non intentional' and any consequences, suffering, pain, mental illness, anger, resentment, bitterness, trauma or illness, is to be hidden and never shown to the adults
Even if the child is showing clear signs of struggle, acting out and making clear calls for help, the adults must be presumed to have never noticed, and to be completely oblivious to the child's suffering
This is also the child's fault and will always remain the child's fault; for not notifying the adults clearly enough
If a child attempts to notify they will be, in no specific order: disregarded, ridiculed, not taken seriously, berated for dramatizing, berated for thinking anyone cares, dismissed, be shamed, be trauma dumped on, be forced to feel bad for the parent, called out for being 'not understanding enough', asked 'how do you think I feel', be told they're weak, be told off for being 'too sensitive', be considered annoying, be blamed themselves for how they feel, be told that the reason for the issue is something a child has done, be told do feel differently, be yelled at, punished, threatened or told they should be lucky it's not worse
Children are to presume that the adults are perfect but must never repeat any of their behaviour
Children are to presume lesser value, priority, importance, entitlement, but then also bigger maturity, self control, self-consciousness, and emotional regulation
Children will be ridiculed for not knowing any piece of information, but adults should never teach them anything; in fact the adults will give them misinformation and double down on it with every opportunity
Children are to be told they're incapable, undesirable in the world, too unskilled, untalented, irresponsible to achieve anything. For adults none of these things should ever be implied even if the evidence is present
Children can be told at the same time that they're 'too young to understand' and 'too inexperienced to know anything', and that they're 'too old to be acting like this' when they protest or express an emotion inconvenient to adults
Any act of resistance, protest, boundary, aggression or violence coming from the child renders the child evil and dangerous. Same from any adult is considered justified and necessary.

Do you think Lottie purposely posts pictures of Lucky with his mouth wide open and tongue out or is she just that ignorant about internet safety? Every time she posts a picture like that, I just cringe and think of how many creeps are probably saving that photo for inappropriate reasons.
I wish the Tomlinsons wouldn’t post their kids so much. I’m glad at least, that Louis and Briana, seem to be making much more of an effort to protect Freddie’s privacy.
Dumbass Lottie has been told in her comments that she shouldn't post photos like that, and why, but she ignores the advice and keeps doing it.

abusive parents: Children need to work! In order to have work habits! I'm just making sure they're developing good work habits!
the actual 'habits' being taught: work being thrown at children with no announcement or schedule, being yelled at for not doing something they had no idea needed to be done, endless punishments if the work is refused or even rescheduled, being ordered around with no nuance for your own schedule, human needs, illnesses or school responsibilities; being pushed into labour with no clear instructions and severe punishments if you get it wrong, having to predict when someone will want something to be done or risk contempt, being told you're lazy, worthless and a waste of space regardless of how much work you do, never getting any rewards or acknowledgment for completing all of the work, exposure to criticism, insults, and overall horrid working conditions with no right to complain or refuse to do it, being taught that you're worth nothing unless you can prove your worth in endless free labour, perfect setup to be maximally exploited by every boss and manager in your future life because you've been taught to fear confrontation more than death

The unfortunate truth of the matter is that while these conservative keyboard warriors go to bat to #saveourchildren by making post after post on a global child sex trafficking conspiracy run by the dems, how all members of the LGBTQ are groomers who need to groom the next generation into joining their cult and spending every waking moment of their life arguing online, their own children are no safer. Upstairs their 13 year old daughter is taking advantage of the increased freedom now that their parents are preoccupied, spending every waking moment talking to their online “boyfriend”, a crusty 27 year old white cishet man from down the street who tells them what they want to hear, what they don’t hear from their parents. Their boyfriend is telling them to sneak out, to come link up, come meet a couple of his friends. The sound of their child’s cautious footsteps on the stairs snd on her way out the door are drowned out by the Qanon YouTube video they’re watching on full volume in the living room.

when you combine this with the efforts to extend retirement age to 70 and over, it's very clear that our politicians, but specifically gop conservatives, are hell-bent on sacrificing the population at the altar of capitalism. they want us to start working earlier and to work longer into our lives, all while not paying a living wage and raising the price of just about everything. it is the continuing evil of capitalism run amok.

This is a new low for Disney's music marketing team and executives.
Freya Skye's cover of Who Says was released on tiktok about a week ago, which is a week after Jojo Siva released her cover of Karma.
If you don't know the drama there, the short of it is that Jojo did a lot to imply she wrote it, so when it came out that she just bought the rights to it, people were pissed.
Back to Freya, she was hyping Who Says up as a cover on instagram before the Jojo drama started, but when it came time for the actual release, her tiktoks referred to it as "her song" and "new song" instead of a cover, leading people to accuse her of trying to say it's an original song and not give credit to Selena Gomez.
Keeping in mind she's a Disney girl and knowing Disney's tight grip on their stars and their social media, there's no way she was in charge of making those videos or the captions. The social media team at Disney decided that the press and attention they'd get for making it look like Freya was trying to claim Who Says as an original was worth throwing this poor girl under the bus. After all, whether people are streaming Freya's version or Selena's, money's still going into Disney's pocket.
Oh, and they're doing it to Kylie Cantrall's cover of Boo'd Up now, too, even after there was so much backlash against Freya that they had to go back in and edit captions and remove the song from a video that said "my song" in the text.
These poor girls are being chewed up by Disney the same way their predecessors were, even in the wake of Quiet on Set and enhanced public scrutiny of children's entertainment companies. It's absolutely disgusting and I hope Freya and Kylie can get out and get on top now that Disney's actively trying to bomb their careers.

Have you noticed the attendees of Diddy’s Freak Off Parties are ALL backing Kamala? Usher. Slim Shady. Jay Z. Beyoncé. Weird, huh? There are no coincidences. They’re all in this together.

"All entertainment workers should go on strike!"
"Family bloggers children should go on strike!"
Oh boy I wish I could!
Did you know that even if I went on 'strike', parents are still legally allowed to force their kids to work 24/7 for videos on youtube without paying them a cent?
Did you know that there's no current union for child youtubers, even though there's one for regular youtubers and of course, sagaftra for TV and movie actors?
Did you know there's not even a current support group for child youtubers?
Did you know there's one single law in the USA (illinois) working to protect child influencers by giving them half of the profit, even though to qualify you have to reach an impossible average of 10 cents per view?
I'm not sure what I'm saying with this but pretty much it sure would be nice if I had the right (a right which is given to the people by the laws of the United States) to protect myself and my youtube friends under a union.
Can any politicians get to work on that one?
