I am very satisfied that Miss Huang is literally just A Normal Child who's being exploited. The theories about her being Mark's daughter never made sense to me, I wasn't a big fan of robot or clone for varying reasons. I have been banking all season that she's literally just doing an internship, and would you look at that?? Lumon employs children all the time, they have no qualms sticking 8 year olds in front of chemical vats for ten hours. Of course they'll put a kid on the severed floor, it'll probably deter attacks anyway. Probably.
And what if I told you this happens all the time IRL? When I was a freshman in highschool we had local companies offering various unpaid 'internship' and 'apprenticeship' programs that usually boiled down to being coffee runners or cleaning their offices. The local middle school had a summer job fair where the majority of the 'positions' being offered were volunteer work (therefore unpaid), but the adults would coo and crow about how it was 'giving us work experience' and would look good on college applications or could help us get recommendations for certain jobs or schools in the future. And a lot of kids jumped at these opportunities because they sounded like great ways to get ahead, but they usually ended up just doing unpaid labor with very little appreciation.
I do truly love when the simplest explanation turns out to be the correct one. She's just a kid, kids work all the time even in corporate settings, they just usually don't get paid for it with anything besides 'experience'. Because a kid on the payroll looks bad, but a kid 'doing an apprenticeship' looks like a great way to help them learn responsibility. When it's really just a way to broaden the scope of who you can exploit.

there's something deeply devastating about watching a child carry the weight of exploitation and not even realize it. piper rockelle was a little girl when the cameras were first turned on her and not even by her own hand, but by adults who saw profit in her innocence. what was supposed to be childhood became content. what should've been freedom turned into scripted smiles, forced relationships, and a false reality made for views and now, she stands in front of millions, so many clueless kids, defending the very system that failed her. that's the cruelest part. i wish nothing, but the best for that girl because this is not her fault, none of this is.

Online predators are becoming increasingly resourceful in trolling media platforms where children gravitate, prompting an explosion in police caseloads, said an officer who works for the RCMP Integrated Child Exploitation Unit in British Columbia. Data show the problem spiked during COVID-19 when children began spending more time online — but rates did not wane as police anticipated after lockdowns ended. In B.C., they soared, almost quadrupling from 2021 to 2023. Const. Solana Pare is now warning exploitation of children is likely here to stay, as a technological race between police and predators gains momentum.

A study that showed nearly half a million Filipino children fell victim to online sexual abuse and exploitation in 2022 alone was presented during a Senate hearing.
It was also disclosed that Artificial Intelligence through bots or an online app can be used to "undress" photos of victims.
In a "24 Oras" report by Ian Cruz, the study conducted by the International Justice Mission Philippines and the University of Nottingham in 2022 showed 500,000 children are victims of online sexual abuse and exploitation and that there are many cases that remain unreported.
"Ruby (not her real name)," a survivor of online sexual abuse, was emotional when she testified before the Senate as she called on other victims to speak about their experiences.
"If I can do it, believe in yourself that you can do it too," she said.

“The term ‘child’ marriage should perhaps be seen as a euphemism because this practice is gendered, and it is overwhelmingly girls and not boys who are subjected to it. The difference is stark, since in Mali the girl:boy ratio of marriage before age 18 is 72:1, in Kenya, 21:1, and even in the United States it is 8:1”

when you combine this with the efforts to extend retirement age to 70 and over, it's very clear that our politicians, but specifically gop conservatives, are hell-bent on sacrificing the population at the altar of capitalism. they want us to start working earlier and to work longer into our lives, all while not paying a living wage and raising the price of just about everything. it is the continuing evil of capitalism run amok.

Learning About Feminism is Learning How Society Screws Over Girls
So, I just read about this awful case in Nagoya, Japan—two elementary school teachers got arrested for secretly taking upskirt photos of their own students. Little girls, just going to school, trusting these creeps. And it gets worse: they were sharing these photos in a group chat with other teachers, like it was no big deal. One of them even put his bodily fluids—yeah, that gross—on a student’s stuff and in their lunch. It’s so messed up I can barely type it. The police say it wasn’t just one guy; there was a whole group of teachers egging each other on.
The Law Misses the Point
Here’s what really gets me: in Japan, putting bodily fluids on someone’s stuff or food is apparently its just considered as “property damage” (器物破損). Like, the crime is about ruining a lunchbox or a meal, not the fact that a girl was violated in this deeply personal way. It’s like the system doesn’t see our trauma, our boundaries, or our dignity, just a thing that got “damaged.” It’s a perfect example of how society treats girls like objects, only valued for what they’re “useful” for. If your lunch is messed up, sure, that’s a crime. But the emotional and psychological harm? Good luck getting that recognized.
When “Just Fiction” Isn’t Just Fiction
This case isn’t some random tragedy, it’s part of a bigger problem. In Japan, real child pornography is illegal, but stuff like manga, anime, or stories sexualizing kids? Totally fine. There’s whole genres, like “lolicon” (yep, that’s about young girls) and “JK” (high school girls), and it’s everywhere. I used to think, “Okay, it’s not real, so maybe it’s harmless.” But now I’m not so sure. If the culture’s cool with sexualizing fake girls, doesn’t that make it easier to see real girls the same way? Those teachers weren’t reading comics—they were making their own twisted version with real kids who trusted them.
How Culture Sets the Stage
Those teachers didn’t just wake up one day and decide to be creeps. They’re part of a world where sexualizing kids is brushed off as a “fantasy” or “just a kink.” When society says that’s okay, it’s no shock that some people cross the line. The way we talk about girls in media—real or not—shapes how people treat them in real life. Feminist writers like Gail Dines have pointed out that stuff like this normalizes exploitation, making it easier for predators to justify their actions. Those teachers saw their students as objects, not people, and the culture around them didn’t exactly scream, “That’s wrong.”
Feminism Shows the Bigger Picture
Learning about feminism isn’t just about equal pay or women in politics. It’s about seeing how girls get screwed over every day—by laws that don’t take their pain seriously, by media that turns them into objects, by systems that let predators hide in plain sight. It’s about power, plain and simple. And right now, girls are the ones losing, especially in Japan.
Those girls in Nagoya deserved so much better, and it’s got me wondering, what’s being done around the world to protect girls without stomping on free speech?
Share what you know, please, I need some hope!

It’s weird to me how to people like Lottie their children aren’t full human beings to them but just an extension of their own personality. This whole „but it’s my child!!“ argument is so dehumanizing to me bc it makes it seem like this child doesn’t have any rights and anything the mother does is right bc she is the mother and therefore she knows best and can do nothing wrong. But those kids have rights especially when it comes to their privacy. That’s not a matter of opinion, that’s a fact. It doesn’t matter what I think, or what she thinks. It’s a fact that her posting these pics is violating her baby’s rights to privacy. Her kids not only will potentially grow up with mental health issues due to being exposed like this but they also will probably face consequences for their internet presence when they try to find a job. It will already start in primary school with kids these days having access to social media early, lucky and Flossie will totally make experiences of bullying as well. The countless pedophiles that could abuse these pictures or try to find the children in real life by going to their school…the danger of it all goes beyond my comprehension. And Lottie knows this and still decides to put those pics out there for everyone to see. Truly disturbing and selfish. Can’t wrap my head around it. She’s supposed to protect her children who are dependent on her and she abuses them like this and they can’t do anything about it. So, so vile. It’s the fact that she KNOWS and still does it. Either it’s cognitive dissonance or she really is evil. Same goes for the father! I hope there will be legal restrictions soon bc this is undoubtedly child abuse and it should be handled way more seriously in politics.
I really don't think Lottie ever looks ahead and imagines her children as even being school age let alone adults, or she wouldn't have given them such ridiculous names.
