I’m around S7 now and I noticed he doesn’t chew things actively anymore??? I honestly can’t tell if this was the result of intentional directing or the actor had the habit once and grew out of it

well, according to @sylviedonnas he’s still doing this on chicago fire, so i actually think him stopping in s7 is an acting choice.

chase really does change a lot as a character, with s7 being his biggest shift — i was just watching the silly/weird doxxing s7 episode and thinking about … that scene in the beginning when they’re all looking at his nudes and chase denies it’s him and offers to de-pants to prove it, right? it’s very silly, but i was watching it and thinking, “chase wouldn’t do that/act like that in earlier seasons.” the whole nudes subplot wouldn’t have happened in earlier seasons, but that particular loud defiance/ill show you if you want? not to say it’s out of character, but it’s different.

chase becomes a very different person. he’s more aggressive and upfront in later seasons: he always had that pithy dismissal thing, where he very bluntly shuts people down (telling adams “people don’t change… you won’t believe me because people don’t change” is exactly the same as his “you’re insecure” to foreman in s3). he’s always been a dick. but he was quieter, he was less overt. he becomes more outwardly confident and ready to fight, he comes off as quiet in a different way: not quiet because he’s listening (and fidgeting) but quiet because he doesn’t want to talk of that makes sense. he’s much more serious: he still jokes around and enjoys pranks and a bit of trolling, but chase tamps down a lot of his emotions and seems less engaged in later seasons.

that’s not to say he becomes this angry, stoic, withdrawn person. one of my favorite little sight gags in s8 is when the doctors all have photos of themselves for the patient with memory loss and chase’s is just 😁 where everyone else has more formal posing. he’s often quite silly and has fun. he still makes all his weird little faces and is deeply reactive. but he’s also more withdrawn. and i think the lack of fidgeting and playing around with items is kind of part of it. he’s … grown up a little. he’s lowkey depressed now. he’s not just having a fun silly time in the office with his pals.

So I was thinking - I do have 2 theories that are tied for the rest of the season.

My main theory for the season finale is that Eddie gets hurt, badly.

With the way they talk about his catholic guilt, the fact that his family is coming, it's all pointing to some kind of crisis pending.

I think that maybe Eddie's dad dies, or some ill befalls the family (I really hope it's not Isabel, though I'm almost positive it's not), this season is more about Eddie's parental ties and history - Catholic guilt stems from a certain upbringing.

Also Eddie made his peace with his dad in 5X17, we also saw them afterwards talking like father and son in a more healthy way after Eddie grounded Christopher.

And Ramon was already sick in 5x17. - So it stands to reason that maybe what brings Eddie's family together is maybe Ramon (he could be there filming flashbacks) also Eddie has issues that are unresolved with his mother.

From personal experience, Fathers are not always a safe figure, we love them, but their jobs and lack of time, along with certain expectations and short temper due to stress and tiredness often leaves a child feeling like they are on the defense.

In all of that there is the mother, who may have been there, and loved her child, and took care of her child, but wasn't there to rein in dad when he was out of line, or not a safe figure.

It doesn't have to be a physical thing, sometimes the right words can break a child, make them feel like whatever they do, will never be enough.

And we see that in Eddie all throughout S3, where he wasn't enough, that didn't start with Shannon, that started with his family, the most basic foundation, whatever crap we grow up with as kids, untreated, unspoken can destroy us and any relationships we hope to have in the future.

Now, Eddie has been to therapy, he changed, he spoke to his father in 5x17 and we can see the change between them from there. But he has yet to speak to his mom, whatever is under the surface, needs to be spoken out loud, when he manages to make peace with her he will be more settled with himself.

I'm thinking that a lot like Athena and her mother, that talk will happen only if something happens to Ramon. - So that is another thing that enforces my theory.

That brings me to the finale (second theory) - in Chicago Fire, after Severide's dad dies he has a crisis himself, he gets distracted and nearly dies in a fire, one that his best friend and Cruz pull him out of. He also breaks up with Stella for a while.

So maybe, Eddie gets hurt, he may actually get his coma dream, that will be about him, and after making his peace with both his parents, he may be able to make his peace with Shannon and come back stronger and more sure of himself and his path from this ordeal.

I read around that maybe something happens to Bobby, I doubt that, Bobby got a 3-parter at the beginning of the season along with Athena, Heneren has their time with Mara, Madney got married, and Buck is waddling into bi-ness territory in a questionable speed - but it is a 10 eps season so...

The only one who didn't get a space for his own story (that wasn't about Buck and/or connected to Buck) is Eddie, and he's also due in the injury and NDE department.

So these are my thoughts, I think all roads here lead to Eddie's storyline and I am here for it. 👀🤗

A few things I noticed in my S3 and S4 rewatch. And I finally have a theory about what all those wagons mean!

A hidden Chicago mention in S3

I didn't remember that the kids' codename in S3 is Griswold family!

This is a reference to the 1983 movie National Lampoon's vacation. The story of a man who decides to lead his wife and their kids, a boy and a girl, on a cross-country expedition from the Chicago suburbs to the southern California amusement park Walley World.

In S3 El hears Hopper and Joyce talk about going to Illinois, and at the end of the season Joyce and the kids move to California. They are the Griswolds. I mean, we know that Hopper is El's father and Joyce is Will's mother. But since Jon is never included in these references I think it means that Will and El are Joyce and Hopper's kids, and Jon is Joyce and Lonnie's son. Also, I have thoughts about the wife in the movie, Ellen, meeting her cousin Catherine (russian variant, Katerina-> diminutive form, Katinka) who's married to a guy named Edward. But that's for another post.

The meaning of the wheelbarrows

I'm analyzing all the hints that there might've been a car crash in 1976 and that that's the event that separated Jane from her family. I don't think she was abducted when she was born, I think her life changed because of the car accident: time loop/time manipulation made her end up in the lab and it was like she was never part of the family.

But if she is connected to water- the void, the water tanks, even Stobin's sailor outfit, since they represent Willel (a car accident in a frozen lake?) Will has always been associated with fire. And we see three cars on fire in the show: the engine of Hopper's car explodes in S3, Billy's car catches fire in 3x08, and Fred has a vision of a car on fire in S4. When I rewatched Fred's vision I realized that this is connected to Will.

Before Fred sees the car, a dog barks and we see a wheelbarrow in the trailer park. A clear reference to Will's vanishing in 1x01.

A car in the middle of the street. In 1x01 Will swerves off the roard and crashes his bike in the woods. In 3x01 Billy gets possessed after he's run off the road by a creature.

In his vision, Fred also sees a coffin and the grandfather clock, which has the name Williams on it. A car on fire, the name William on a coffin, and in the same season we see the tombstone of William Hargrove.

I think the wheelbarrows represent the car in the accident in 1976 that changed everything. Maybe a station wagon?

The wheelbarrow in front of Mrs Driscoll's house, when she's already possessed by the particles, after the Castle Byers scene, in which a dog barks and Will is about to realize that the Mind Flayer is back.

And in S1 we see the other person who's involved in all this. Brenner.

i know it's been weeks since the finale and this is likely redundant at this point but because i'm deranged about this show i pushed through the mental illness and finally finished my season 7 wishlist for my birthday. this was once over-detailed and the points were really just fanfic prompts, now the points are non-sensical and probably not even s7 specific. so in no particular order of timeline or importance, likely to never happen and straight from the audrey head canon universe: SEASON 7 WISHLIST.

- actual bailan conflict

- wopez baby girl unnamed forever, just for a giggle.

- nyla family maybe? she's an only child to me

- grey angst. like i wanna see him fight someone or something

- monica lasts less than 7A, but we see her a bit. unpopular opinion but she's fun. like that's one of my fav characters from jtv manifested once again on my favourite show.

- celina and lucy get a cat. they'd just vibe with it i know it. tim loathes the cat every time he comes around during their reconciliation era. but loves it.

- fire episode. not just a victim in a fire but like the station or one of the characters house on fire, like oo an arsonist terrorising the characters specifically. (maybe nolan like burn his crib down and cause him pain for once.)

- lucy parents. this is non negotiable. like maybe they're in trouble, being harassed/stalked/held hostage or whatever and she saves them, and they, at least, lighten up on the disappointment.

- lucy cousin [not s7 specific]. i know she has one. like a younger, annoying, freeloading male cousin. just give her some family please. and her nana.

- and an ex-girlfriend but that's free for any season. heir to sappho, lucy chen.

- lucy fighting like 50 guys all by herself and winning.

- lucy going undercover at least once and spanning multiple episodes.

- generally any and all lucy storylines that aren't centered at all around tim.

- maybe give her a female friend her age outside of the main characters. someone who helps her in her career and personally. someone on the same level. and give her wesley too.

- lucy critically hurt like worse than D.O.D

- can you tell i yearn for lucy storylines? like that's my main character!

- characters generally struggling with things outside of work and relationships. like illness/disability. (and not for bailey)

- speaking of struggling (!!!!!):: i really want to see one or all of the main characters struggling with their morality/sense of self as a police officer. like we all know the despicablity of cops irl. we know the rookie knows, see: s3. why can't this be a consistent thing? and not just nolan struggling to not come off as white saviour. like all the characters, both white and non white, experiencing personal turmoil about their position on world affairs and how that would (i hope) completely misalign with the mores of the average cop. especially given the state of the world right now, while uncomfortable, it would be somewhat realistic/relatable to our universe, and would be intriguing to watch (either that or i unfortunately learn that the political views of the rookie tyrants are.....).

- fully explored appearance of a k-9 unit.

- the rookie finally goes back to the multiple patrol calls an episode format and stops trying to be like chicago p.d.

- harper and lopez are given the decency to be treated as two separate careers instead of one forever unit. like i love that they're often together and they are partners in the same job but can we stop segregating the characters into unchanging groups? i know there are often exceptions but spice it up a bit please? mix patrol and detectives. but don't make patrol all about detectiving, and don't make harpez one job and the patrols always on the same case. give them calls away from each other. let them all do their jobs separately so you don't perpetuate the above point too much. (but still keep my family together obviously - it's all about balance.) is this point a jumbled mess? i think. look away.

- celina more interesting. please make her more than nolan's miserably failing boot.

- and give nolan consequences!!!!! let this man learn for once! we see he makes mistakes, but he's magically cool and respected again? make him a watchable character by going deeper than nice guy who wants to do good and well, fails yet is picked back up again by everyone else who loves and adores him so much like!!! where's the pain and conflict!

- nyla with a homeless teen or struggling adult who she helps i just thought of this. i know that woman has empathy that runs deep. nyla centric episodes especially talking about her cartel past!!! and with that more angela backstory like why do the women of the rookie have like 5 backstory points and i could write a whole novel about just one male character's.

- feed me the greatest lucy fits and bring back angela's curly hair i'm on my knees and i'm begging.

- more lgbt+ rep

- more disabled rep

- more class rep, especially in the characters themselves, i wanna see a cop struggling to get by money wise. actually that would never happen for a cop nevermind.

- speaking of poor i want nolan to lose everything.

- i'm not a sadist i swear.

- something for aaron that isn't based on 'i was falsely accused' and 'i almost died' like not saying it's boring but i don't want the writers to lack the creative ability to explore him even more. and celina too, give her something beyond her sisters death. these were great storylines but i don't want these characters to become tired and underused.

- the rookie starts rounding out long running and short running storylines for once. please stop making me say 'wait, that was it?'.

- dear whoever runs the rookie: please take yourself seriously again, i know you can do it baby.

been watching chicago med and i’m either on s3 or s4 BUT i am starting to absolutely despise natalie manning and her character (ill put it under a readmore because i got a lot of words and she absolutely disgusts me)

First off, I know that she's an ER doc specializing in peds (though, maybe its because of how fast I watched everything but I never saw any epi specifically say that but its there whatever).

My disgust comes from how 1)she approaches people that aren't physically/mentally/emotionally prepared to have children and 2)how hypocritical she is. So lets get into it:

Her approach to her patients with children: I appreciate her dedication to childcare– whether this be giving the child the best of care or advocating for their rights when the guardian/parent(s) aren't listening. The thing... some of the things she's done or said are so surface-level, that they don't account for what happens after they leave the ER. Take the epi where she accidentally got a mother and her baby separated because she suspected child abuse due to a stained hematoma from child birth. Her medicine was sound, of course— anyone would suspect child abuse in that scenario. What I didn't like, and this patient (abbrev. pt) rightfully called out, was her judgemental ass. Like listen, I've worked in the medical field for years and even if you are judgemental towards something, you should NEVER let it affect how you treat/care for pt. Nat says she judged teh mom for being a single mother raising her child but... babygirl, you're a GD doctor. Your mother-in-law literally watches your kid FOR FREE. Your husband died from war– you know exactly who he is! That single mother was literally working two jobs just to support her and her baby. She even said that she doesn't know who the dad is so clearly she can't just "drop" the kid off at grandma's. People literally do the best that they can in the situation that they're in, whether purposeful or accidental. Whether or not they make sense is a wholedifferent thing. Like the other epi where the pt's older brother was a sociopath and the parents decided not to institutionalize him. As outsiders, ofc we'd be on Nat's side about taking him away from hurting his brother. But that's the thing– we are outsiders!! Nat's saying all this stuff yet if put in the same situation, she'd likely do the same thing as what those parents did and continue to keep him around. The decision to have kids is already an unfortunately loaded question but what about after? She has little to no care of her pts past the exit. This can get longwinded so if anyone wants more lmk otherwise imma stop here for this.

Hypocrisy: She's a straightup hypocrite. Early seasons, she followed most of the rules. She wasn't Will, ya know? But what got to me was how the show writes her cases. Ex. she had changed a treatment plan that Will was against because she didn't think it was that. Mind you, Will's under fire from that DNR incident. Before the autopsy, Will is rightfully angry that she switched treatment plans, despite her trying to justify it. Never change a treatment plan! Even with disagreements, shit will happen. There are contraindications, there are escalations, there's a bunch of different things that can happen even if the change is small. Not only was Will trying to be a good doctor, he was also trying to be a law-abiding, rule-following doctor. What about the time when she fought tooth and nail to use an experimental, not FDA-approved (not even a multi-stage study) drug to treat a cancer pt. Ofc, Will is furious that she's adamant on the switch and lo-behold, the pt dies. Now, this concoction could've worsen the cancer right? Except, rather than writing it so it either didn't have an effect or had a miniscule effect, the autopsy revealed that her concoction actually shrank it a few cms. Aint no fucking way that it did that-- mainly because there were no clinical trials documenting it. I mean, GIRL, WHAT ABOUT THE SIDE EFFECTS? Medicine isnt a magic potion unforunately. The time when she went off on that skivvy priest and his 14-year old wife is also on my list. She yells at Will or whatever doctor about professionalism but her attitude towards him (though RIGHTFULLY SO) was peak unprofessionalism. I mean there is a lot of bureaucracy in almost any institution, whether profit or nonprofit, but when anyone else breaks it, they get serious consequences. When Nat does it, its just a damn warning. Hell! What about when they induced a death-appearing coma to the guy that was abusing his wife? Shittt son, I'm surprised Will agreed to that given his DNR incident. God forbid that pt actally fucking died-- they both would've lost theirmedical licenses.

I just have so much to say! She gives me 'popular in HS' vibes since she is "always" right, rarely gets any true punishment/consequences and yaps of unprofessionalism to other people when she literally does the same thing. What crossed it for me and its the reason why I'm writing this now is when she snapped at Dr. Charles when she cut the dosage in half for a bipolar pregnant mother. You mean to tell me that YOU were in the right because you don't have time to keep up with every new psych journal? You literally specialize in peds– youre supposed to keep up with any and everything child-related, including pregnancies! Chief! God forbid there's new research and because you dont have fucking time to do some research (or at least keep up with medical literature), you end up killing a pt due to ignorance.

Maybe its how the writers are writing her but she's just... DISGUSTING. As a self-identifying female, I'm all about feminine/female power but this? Nah chief– Maggie is better written than she is and she's "just a charge nurse"!

spent all of may running around like an insane person - drove to chicago and back for a baby shower, then i flew to san francisco to go to yosemite for a few days, all month work has been on fire bc we're implementing a new softward system/process and it's Not Great, internet friends came to visit for a week which was sAUR fun and sweet but also like......i haven't had true alone time in weeks and now i've spent all weekend by myself and i feel....slightly better i think?

i have been to sooo many shows recently and i keep buying tickets for shows?? like after i see all the shows i have tix for, i only need to see like 3 more shows to hit 100 concerts for my all-time list!!!! insane!!!
